We have a table that after 30 years or use with kids and guests needed refinishing. I contacted a couple of companies to get quotes and understand how the process works. Several did not return calls, another one gave me a reasonable quote, but told me it would 3 or 4 weeks, but they wanted to pick up the table right away. However, Relance also offered a reasonable quote and provided in-home work that was completed within a day. The work did not impact our usage of the house. When completed there was no mess, just a beautiful dining room table. Th experience was both pleasant and rewarding. My original experience was really good. I gave him a 5 review. I removed that review as I THOUGHT I had booked him for a new job. I did this as his work was great ....Left him really good reviews everywhere HE asked me to, (as I like to help new up and coming businesses) He was busy until 11/3, as I booked him sometime before 6-8 weeks. I asked him if he was still committed to pickup on 11/3, nearer the start date. He assured me yes.... Long story short... he decided that the piece he was supposed to refinish was a veneer (IT IS NOT)... I asked him a quick succession of questions via text, where he said I should use a wood/furniture touch up pen?!?! I called him and asked for an explanation. He didn't want to do the job anymore as I was, "HOUNDING" him. I made him uncomfortable?! He is obviously NEW to NYC?! I wish he had told me sooner. What a sad way to finish, as I had thought, good working professional person/ company?! I wish I had never recommended him to friends or colleagues, and left such glowing reviews on multiple websites, as he asked me to.... I feel quite stupid. I hope in the future his clientele new and old; don't ask too too many questions, and/or contact him too many times.... Good luck in business to you......... read more

Excellent all the way around, from communication to end results. Very easy to work with and asked me questions I hadn't even considered. Cleaned up a rocking chair, and refinished two cafe chairs that needed a LOT of help-refinish and repair. Asked that they "match" a table I use them with. Part of them did, but not the rest. Andrew did an amazing job with our table. It was in really bad shape and we decided on the darker color and it came out beautifully! He is meticulous and takes his time to make sure it has a beautiful finish. He worked inside our apartment and we were worried there would be a mess, but there wasn't a shred of evidence he was even here, except for the exceptional job on the table. Andrew came to my apartment to refinish a very valuable Harvey Ellis/Stickley dining room table, with three leaves, that I plan to leave to my children and grandson. He was prompt, efficient, careful in how and where he worked (the work was done inside my apartment, after all), and amazingly neat and clean, given the chemicals he had to use and the sanding that he had to do (he has a HEPA vacuum that removes all dust). Andrew is a true craftsman (the highest compliment I can offer anyone in his line of work) who pays special attention to details. Given the quality of his work and based on other estimates I received, I would say that what I paid for the work was entirely reasonable.
