My wife and I had done couples therapy previously but found that we didn't get much out of it. But after another rough period, we resolved to give it a try again and went searching for someone in the local vicinity who had good reviews. And I - very fortuitously - happened to come across Hedy. And - six months later - our experience has been terrific. Hedy has a process and framework that she uses to analyze and probe our relationship and past history which has been extremely different from our prior experience that just seemed more of the standard therapy that we had become accustomed to. While I initially had a little trepidation about the 100-minute sessions, I've found that they're helpful to really delve into certain aspects of our relationship and respective histories that help to provide perspective. I'm someone who is typically pretty rigid and analytical, and she's helped me to see our relationship - and in particular my behavior within it - in an entirely different way. And it's been so eye-opening and refreshing to get this other perspective as I absolutely don't think I would've reached this stage on our own. Is my relationship repaired? No, it's only been six months, and we have a lot of healing to do. But Hedy has helped provide a lot of the building blocks for a healthier relationship. And I'm extremely thankful we found her as she's exactly what we needed to take steps forward and address some of the issues that we were having difficulty working through. read more

What a waste of my time. My neighbor Edith has been raving about her councilor man and has had great experiences. She says to me hes dreamy and won't stop looking at her with his big blue eyes. My old timers kicked in when I walked in and I could not remember his name and couldn't figure out how to call Edith on my new phone my grandson set up for me. I ended up getting a very strange lady doctor. She kept trying to figure out why I was here and says that i dont listen good. Shes not friendly.Whenever I asked her if she is married, how many kids she has and where she lives, she wouldn't answer me questions. I offered her a Yes Way, Rose and she asked me to leave. Then I offered her a cigarette hoping she would get relax, but she wouldnt take it and walked me to the door. A very upsetting visit. Am I still upset, yes. Never have I thought that Hedy would change my life and open up so many triggers from my childhood experience. It all started with my husband and I seeking help with our relationship during crazy COVID times. We started seeing Hedy on bi-weekly basis and to say the truth I was not too enthused about it in the beginning (not because of Hedy but because of my own perception and take on counseling). It didn't take that much time to realize how knowledgeable and deep Hedy's work is. She looks at the root cause of a problem and arrives at it very quickly instead of wasting time on unnecessary talk. In my work with her, I came to a very strong realization that immaturity and dissatisfaction in any relationships often comes from childhood traumas experiences as a child. And Hedy quickly explained to me that instead of demanding your partner to fill in your emptiness from what you didn't get as a child, it's absolutely critical to work on yourself first. I give Hedy Tan 5 stars because she helped me pin point the dysfunction I had within my family as a child growing up that was effecting my relationship with my husband, family, and friends. Hedy is not a miracle worker. She guides you through a journey that takes time and work. She gave me homework assignments such as reading, writing, and instructions to practice at home. Through all of this I was able to see changes manifest in my life for the better. It took at least 2 to 3 months before I started seeing the difference in the way I communicated to my husband. And I knew it was working after 4 months when a co-worker told me she saw a big change in my demeanor and attitude. Ms. Hedy was always flexible and available when needed. Truly and honestly, my husband and I would not be together today if it were not for her - and, the road we would have taken to the end would have been excruciating. Many, many years ago when I first saw her photo and ad in the yellow pages book, I had a good intuition. My instincts were correct. To survive and thrive in a marriage you need basic fundamentals. I began seeing Hedy in early November 2018, seeking resolution to my conflicted and ambivalent feelings about my nearly 24 year old marriage. Hedy, without communicating any conclusions(though I suspect she arrived at some conclusions quickly), provided me with a wealth of information and insights that sent me on a deep and extended exploration of myself, and my motivations, which provided insights about the reasons I've made the decisions I made in the past, and surprising insights about my family system and "family of origin" issues. By the way, my extended family behaviors which appeared completely normal to me, and I believe appeared very successful and 'solid' from the outside, was in various ways dysfunctional. The dysfunctions appeared through my family system as highly functional alcoholism, prescription medicine abuse, obesity, bolemia, and similar problems that I have learned were rooted in the generally dysfunctional ways that my large and extended family were raised. My family includes a lot of extremely highly functioning and 'successful" people who have built solid wealth, myself included. During the course of our visits, which continue, Hedy provided me with book recommendations and counseling that frequently included advice to "skim or read this... try it on for size.... see if you think it fits." She gently led me down the path of self-awareness and personal growth, and a year later I have made decisions about the path forward that I believe is right for me and for my family. I could not recommend her services more highly, and she delivers an extremely high value that is in excess of her fees. read more

I went to Hedy's group several years ago. Too much talking. Too much Western therapy model talk talk, which often reinjures, is circular, not coming away with true coping and life changing skills.
