I was extremely disappointed with our experience. I specifically requested a female massage therapist for my daughter to ensure she felt comfortable. About halfway through her massage, they switched her to a male therapist without asking for or obtaining consent from either of us. That was completely inappropriate and should never happen, especially when a specific request was made for a minor. The environment was also far from relaxing. Throughout our massages, another employee repeatedly ran up and down the hallway outside the treatment rooms, and our massage therapists carried on full conversations with other employees during our sessions. Instead of a peaceful, professional atmosphere, it felt distracting and unprofessional. To make matters worse, when it came time to pay, we were pressured into leaving a 20% tip, which made the experience even more uncomfortable. Tips should always be voluntary and based on the quality of service--not something guests feel forced into. Finally, I noticed the timing of our massage. The therapist started the session timer while I was still taking off my shoes, as instructed. I tracked the appointment on my Apple Watch, and from the beginning of the service until the end, the total time was only 25 minutes and 32 seconds. That doesn't even account for the multiple interruptions when the therapist stopped to talk and laugh with employees in the hallway. Overall, this was not the professional or relaxing experience we paid for. The lack of communication regarding my daughter's therapist, the constant distractions, the shortened service time, and the pressure to tip left us very dissatisfied. We did more shopping and we kept talking about how much he loved it, so we decided to tried the foot massage, this time BOTH of us had this service. We are very happy. Stopped in on our way out of the mall after an afternoon and evening of walking, shopping, eating and seeing a movie. My friend and I both had a 30 minute table massage. They took her right away and I only had to wait about 5 minutes. Loved the fact that the masseuse had me take my top off for the massage. The pressure was deep and wonderful. Place is very clean. She massaged my back neck ,shoulders, buttocks and upper legs. She used hot stones and a warm cloth to finish and wipe off tge massage oil. Great massage. They either don't or won't speak English but you point to what you want on the lamented cards they have in the shop. Only issue is while I am getting the back massage a second masseuse came in the room and started rubbing my calves. Came on a whim..Woke up with a sore jaw, (I suffer from TMJ )and thought a massage may help. First time here. I asked her to rub my jaw but she said no which was fine. I got a 30 minute table massage. I've had massages at lots of places and this has to be the best. Her name was Nancia* ( I believe). She gave a firm and relaxing massage. The only time she talked during the massage was to ask okay? She was able to find and work out my sore spots without any communication. The lack of communication actually made it even better for relaxing. This is a no frills place. My only compliant is that's it's in a mall and could hear a kid crying. I've visited two locations for this business. This is mainly for the Florence, KY location but the experience was very similar in both locations. Any specifics are for Florence. Most reviews are about the good and the bad so I will go with that. Cons: 1) The employees English is pretty poor. It did not impact the quality of the work but it could be an issue if you have any problem and want a resolution. That will be important later on. Know what you want and don't agree to anything you don't want or don't understand. 2) They try to upsell you on time and type. I went in for a 20 minute chair massage and they said the bed massage was better (it was!). Anyway, I went with that but knew it was going to be a bit more expensive. Had I run into an issue about this then the #1 Con would have been much bigger. As it was I had no issue because I took the time to know what I was going to be on the hook for. But just be warned about this. If you do not want something or are not sure then don't say "yes". My 20 minutes became 60 minutes. And totally worth it, BTW. 3) These locations were located in a mall. So you are getting bare bones massage and no atmosphere. No serene spa, aromatherapy, relaxing music. My Florence experience was fine. It is located in a quiet corner of the mall. The Modesto, California location was in the center of the mall and it was busy and loud. I never was able to relax there as I was in Florence. Pros: 1) These people take no prisoners. They will search out and find any tight muscle and subdue them. This can be painful as some others have noted in their review. I enjoy that but a couple places made me wince. I went in because of a tight neck and bad headache. When I left I was a bit bruised but my headache was gone and I knew it would not be back. They work for their money. No light hands so be aware this is not tickle session. If you have stress or sore muscles from labor or hunched over a desk all day they will take care of the pain and stiffness. The tech also specifically worked areas that I had pointed out. Extra points for that. 2) It's a bit cheaper than similar massage offerings. As I stated in #3 Con this is a mall location but that reflects in what experience you get. If you don't need the extras this is a great way to get in and get out a bit cheaper. My opinion is to also tip the tech. They work hard. Still I would say it's about $10-$15 cheaper than my normal therapist. 3) The convenience is off the chart. My primary therapist is about a month out for my most convenient appointment times. So I either schedule well ahead after each visit or I take the chance of having to wait a few extra weeks. Not good if you're an active person. This place has been walk-right-in both times during fairly busy times at the mall. No wait at all. But even if there is a wait you can just take a lap around the mall or browse in a shop while you wait. Overall, I'd been leery of these places. But in a pinch I desperately needed some work and this place delivered above and beyond. Because of this I visited another location with my girlfriend and we were both pleased afterwards. I loved my chair massage at Relax Place, and I'm glad I sought it out in a semi-hidden corner of Oxmoor Mall, close to Old Navy. The staff is very friendly and attentive - within thirty seconds of entering the shop, my massage was underway. They play quiet and relaxing music, and the shop is clean and inviting. My 30-minute massage was great for neck, shoulders, and back, and even a little bit of work on my arms. I will definitely go back and take friends and family. At the time I was there, there was construction happening at a nearby store, so there was that unexpected noise - but that's obviously out of the control of Relax Place. Wasn't sure how to feel about getting a table massage in a mall, but the options were so minimal in Louisville, Kentucky. The staff were very friendly, but also very pushy at the same time trying to upset their services. Well it worked and I ended up getting the one hour half table half foot massage. The staff was very short with their english skills and I kept trying to ask for a male measure. She was nice and proceeded anyways. Just I expected she wasn't that strong to massage my back and when I asked for a little more pressure, she ended up using more elbow... not a HUGE fan, but I went with it anyways. My friend in the other room wanted a softer touch and preferred a female and ironically we could have just switched people. i think they assumed that we would prefer the opposite gender to touch our bodies. Made sense, but not for my money. lol. During the foot chair massage though, I felt relaxed and even fell asleep for maybe 10 minutes. read more

I have been here several times and have not left disappointed, ever. Keep in mind, this is not a spa. Rather it is a small massage and "relax" place in a mall. Do not go in expecting the same level of pampering if you went into a full service spa. For the price, the Relax Place is very good. The staff is certified and have their certifications posted on the wall. Every time I have visited I have elected to go for the 30 minute table massage, with oil, and have always come out feeling as though I had slept for an entire night! The staff is responsive so if you tell them it is too hard, they will soften their technique. If you want the massage harder, tell them. I have always been able to get the massage I want just from asking. The staff may have some trouble speaking English but they manage. I plan on returning soon and maybe I'll go for the 1 hour table massage..... based on my experience, it can only be better. read more

Best place in town for a true, deep tissue massage. Prices are unbeatable and the acupressure works wonders. Bypass the chair and go for the table massage. Only downside is that you can hear the noise from the mall and the kiddie playground right outside. Downright painful! I had a 30 minute chair massage that left me feeling worse than before the massage. The gentleman giving me the massage didn't seem to know what he was doing. He applied way too much pressure. When I'd tell him he was hurting me and I'd ask him to ease up, he didn't seem to understand or care. When I pointed out a problem spot in my neck, he didn't understand or know how to proceed with working the knot out. He didn't seem to know how to fill the 30 minutes, so he dug his hands into the same spots over and over. He worked on my arms and legs for about a minute each. He definitely didn't know what he was doing, there. He attempted to crack my back and neck, but I did stop him from doing that. I'm not sure why I didn't just get up and walk away, but I was hoping it would get better. This place was absolutely terrible. I have had many massages at different businesses and in different states and this is by far the worst place I have ever been to. I paid for a 60 minute table massage and all the guy did was use his forearm and elbow to dig into my upper back for 60 minutes. He never asked any questions there was no consultation about where my pain was or if I had had any surgeries etc. I had to tell him "lighter" so many times I can't even tell you how many. It was like he was using all of his strength and body weight to push on my spine. Massage does not involve pressing on the spine what so ever! They are not chiropractors and this can seriously mess your body up. He talked to his coworker the entire time which was not relaxing. After 30 minutes I had to ask him to please stop. This man had absolutely no idea what he was doing. I was in so much pain when I left and the next day I could barely move. I had bruises on my back from him. This is not how massage works. You can't just go full strength from the start you have to go slow and heat the muscles up otherwise you damage the muscle which is exactly what he did. I love the foot massage, table and chair massages. They prefer cash and I don't have a problem with that, but they will take cards too. You can do a combination foot and chair. It's the best. Sometimes the mall is really loud and that can detract from the relaxation, but they have to keep the door open. It would be nice if they closed the door to cut down on noise. OK.... Update. I had a table massage and they kept rubbing oil up my neck into my hair. My hair was a greasy, gross mess! I had to tell her to stop after several oil deposits. Also, when I got up to get my clothes on (I had on undergarments), they was a piece of tape to hold the extension cord for the table warmer and there was a LIVE baby cockroach stuck to it!!! What the what!?!? Good gawd, if there's a baby, there's a momma!!! OMG, my purse was in that general area and I was completely paranoid about one getting in my purse and, heaven forbid, in my house! I paid and went to my car trunk and dumped my purse out to check. I shall stick with foot massage only...if, and it's a big if, I go back. Bugs freak me out... And I just wanna say that the pillows they use are like, community, no change in pillow cases or anything in between. First of all, convenient, and affordable. Love the foot massages, and the chair is okay, but table massages not so much. No curtains on the massage booths and they want you to take off top and undergarments. A member of the opposite sex can walk right by your open booth. Very simple fix, pull curtains on a rod. Also, they are pretty rough and I can take it deep tissue massage, but sometimes I ache for days after going there. Not really relaxing due to the CONSTANT chatter. Staff playing games on their phones with the volume turned up and taking conference calls where everyone was shouting. If they need to talk on phones when they have customers they should go out in the mall. They don't need to constantly talk to each other when someone is trying to go to the "Relax Place". My husband and I visited the Relax Place for the first time today, and it was a very mixed experience. To start, the place lacked in the cleanliness area. Secondly there were no ambient noises, which did nothing to cover the sounds of the mall patrons passing by. Thirdly the massage therapists insisted on having a conversation the entire time, which was very distracting. The massages were good, but our massage therapists kept walking away to do things. At one point my husband even caught his massage therapist on their phone. When our massages were done, and we went to pay, my husband handed the woman $190. Our bill was significantly less. She miscounted what we had given her and she asked "no tip?" I consider this to be very rude. Even after she realized the mistake, she asked for more of a tip. Terrible experience, I will never go here again for a massage. I was supposed to get a 30 minute massage for $35. The actual massage only lasted 24 minutes and when it came time to pay, they said it was $45 because I got a "40" minute massage. Which a "40" minute massage was not even on the list of choices. They rip people off, and confuse people because they speak Cantonese and you can barely understand them. On top of that it was a terrible massage. This was absolutely the worst experience of my like. First I asked for a 30 minute message for neck and feet. The gentleman started off wonderful. It worked on my shoulders for about 3 minutes then he went to my feet and a woman worked took over on my back. It was hard to relax with 2 people working on me at the same time. She literally had no idea what she was doing. She pushed on me like she was trying out a mattress. Then she pressed her elbow forcefully all down my spine. The whole time they talked over top of me in a foreign language. Then a second woman walked up and had a conversation over top of me. I could not relax at all. Then the guy was done with my feet and he left. That left the lady working on my back. She answered her phone 4 times and put it on speaker and had conversations in that same language while she continued to press on me. She asked me to flip over and with her dry rubber gloved she pressed and rubbed all over my face. It was painful to say the least. It was almost like an Indian burn. When I got up my left hand was numb and my hip felt like it had a crick in it. When it was final over she tried to charge me $88 which was not was agreed. When she ran my card, I signed and she said I owed her a tip. I will be calling the BBB on Monday. She obviously was not trained and it is illegal to require me to leave a tip. I suffer from serious medical issues such as degenerative bone disease and osteoarthritis. I've been to Spas and massage therapists and none of them have been able give me pain relief like Relax Place. They practice Chinese Acupressure Massage techniques and boy does it do the trick. Don't expect to overpay for Spa like tepid cups of water with lemon wedges in it, whale song CDs on the sound system and dark little rooms. You go in to have a massage and that is what you get, no spa gimmicks that no one really needs anyway. The Price is insanely cheap since they don't make you pay for those silly gimmicks. Every single person that works there is talented, licensed and very friendly and are genuinely happy to serve you when you walk in the store. They have two locations in St. Matthews Mall. One little kiosk by the food court if you just want a quick chair massage, then the store front which is located across from El Nopal Restaurant. Where you can get chair and table massages. Opt for the table massage, it's wonderful. The only thing that might make people uncomfortable is the different cultural ideas about massage. In Spas in the United States, therapist will avoid the Gluteus maximus (Buttocks) muscles at all costs. It's like the butt, the biggest muscle in your body is taboo. Not at relax place, the Chinese culture has no "body issues" when it comes to massage and they will massage every muscle group, including getting in there firmly, that is the largest muscle in your body after all. SO if you have an issue with someone working all your muscles, including your butt, better tell them up front otherwise you're going to be in culture shock when Chinese attitudes meets puritanical American ones. Trust me, it's not sexual AT ALL (not even remotely close), and you will melt like ice cream on the equator if you just let them massage all your muscles, including the largest muscle group in the human body. Leave your body issues at home, go in and enjoy the best, most relaxing massage of your life. I'm grateful I went in without body issues the first time, I already knew quite a bit about Chinese Acupressure before I went to see them. It forced me to give one star rating, I wanted to give -100. This was one of the worst experiences of my adult life. After I laid on the table, (agreed to pay $60 for 60 minutes first) Two women start grinding my body while belching and grunting. Then one louds says next to my head, "Two, Two, Two for one? One Table! Yaw?!? Two, Two, Two Two for one Table!!" Yaw! Yaw! Yaw! I had no idea what she meant, I said Ok?!? Ok?!? I thought she meant 2 women for 30 minutes... it lasted a full 60 minutes and all face down. My sinuses swelled, my eyes were so swollen afterward I had to sit in my car for 20 minutes before I could drive. If anyone thinks these people can massage the human body you have never had a real massage. They just jerked and pulled my muscles and hurt my spine and ribs. While I was gathering my things to go I heard them conning everyone aggressively, "Two, Two, Two for one!! Table Yaw?!? Two, Two, Two Two for one Table!!" Yaw! Yaw! Yaw! One guy Said "What? What?"
