Garage doors are a mundane house hold feature that everyone takes for granted as long as they are working, only to realize how important they are when they don't. In addition, sometimes good things can come from bad and when that happens it only illustrates the how good the good is. Let me explain: I am an old school kinda guy so I value customer service and yesterday "Reliable Garage Door" proved they value customer service too by ultimately providing not just good but GREAT customer service as they turned what started out as an irritating experience derived from a unfortunate combination of errors, into a highly satisfactory one. I recently had "Reliable Garage Door" install two garage door openers in my 3 car garage and unfortunately a few days ago the main door stopped working. However, when I tried to call all 4 telephone numbers listed on the repair label next to the garage door opener inside the garage from my office phone, all numbers were disconnected (I did not know that they had been experiencing phone issues) Dismayed I first called my wife at work and had her call them too, and she got the same results, then I called them using my cell phone and got the same thing. I then used my went online and called the number listed on the website which was a different number and it too was disconnected. I then got in my car and went down to their Coon Rapids location at 1136 114th Ln NW Suite 600 and found their door locked and dark. I did not know they had moved to Suite 400 and had not updated their website and for some reason had not thought it a good idea to have a sign on the door of Suite 600 stating that they were now located in suite 400. I of course thought the worst. I went home and went back online and asked their online tech support person if they were still in business and the online tech person said they were and I said if so, then give me a call and gave them my number. To my pleasant surprise, I did indeed get a call back immediately. She was very helpful and patched me into the dispatcher. This is where the already irritating part began to get even more irritating as at this time, there were some frustrating miscommunication issues as the dispatcher seemed to not know their telephone numbers were not working correctly and he had the attitude that I was either a crank caller or was somehow at fault and was calling the wrong numbers, despite my telling him I had called 5 numbers and listed them for him and telling him how I went to their location! I told him I felt I had actually did MORE than my share to try to get a hold of someone from "Reliable Garage door", yet he showed little interest in helping me and it seemed as if the only way I was going to get somebody to come out to fix my door ASAP was to call someone else and I said so and hung up. Not long after that Vanessa, who said she was the Customer Service manager for "Reliable Garage Door", called me and after I had explained my side of things, she apologized profusely for the actions of the dispatcher and said that yes, they had indeed been experiencing some phone issues sporadically recently which were not their fault and we realized that what had happened was a series of errors that ended up giving me the wrong impression about "Reliable Garage Door". She apologized profusely and she set up a time for a workmen to come out to my home asap. She could not have been better or more understanding. The "Reliable Garage Door" workmen arrived right on time and he was very friendly and VERY through as he went through the complete installation on both doors and not only repaired the issue at hand but noticed a few issues with the wiring supplied by the manufacturer that were working fine but could become an issue in the future and so he pro-actively repaired them too and he even made sure all remotes on both doors not only functioned but were programed correctly to operate for both doors and even took the time to help me get my freshly bought new Mazda SUV's "Homelink" internal remote programed, something I hadn't yet had the time to do. I was super impressed by the attention to detail and the competence the workman for "Reliable Garage Door" showed and was also impressed by willingness of "Reliable Garage Door" and especially Vanessa, to make sure that I, the customer, was given top-notch customer service. Over all, I am very pleased with "Reliable Garage Door" and not only will I tell all my friends/relatives about "Reliable Garage Door", I am a real estate agent and I will be adding the name "Reliable Garage Door" to my personal list of proven vendors I recommend to my clients. read more

I came back from a week long vacation only to find that my garage door wouldn't close. It was off the track in two places and two hinges had broken. My husband called Reliable at 8am and they had Justin at my house by 130pm. He was upfront and honest about the repairs to get the door functioning as well as the fact that we were on borrowed time. The quote to fix our door was around $200 which to me was very reasonable. I was expecting far worse. After further discussion, Justin told me that if we did decide to purchase a new door within 30 days, the money that we paid for the repair would be put towards the price of the new door. ' Justin is also one of Reliable's Door Estimators. He gave us a good number and we decided to just go with an entirely new door. He had to come back the next morning to do an official estimate and schedule the install because the computer systems in the repair trucks are different from the others. He and another tech were able to get my broken door down and secure and didn't charge me for it. That alone was greatly appreciated as I felt more vulnerable with a garage door wide open all day and night. He said he'd be there at 830am the next day for the estimate and he was on the dot. The entire estimate process took about an hour while he measured the door and helped pick out the style and color. Justin is very approachable and professional and I felt that I was in good hands. The next morning the installation technicians were at the house at 800am sharp. The whole process took about 4 hours. When they were finished, they explained what that had done and replaced and gave me some tips for maintenance. The door is beautiful and it works! They even removed the old door. While we weren't planning on replacing our garage door, I'm so lucky that we found Reliable to take care of us. I wanted to share my awesome experience I had with Reliable Garage Door. This past Saturday morning I had a couple of cables come flying off my garage door and thought hmmm, maybe I should call someone. I found Reliable Garage Door's number and thought I would try to call even though it was Saturday. Vanessa (who is super amazing) answered and said she could have someone out between 4pm-8pm. (On a SATURDAY...SAME day) wow. Right around 4pm the very nice gentleman (I feel so bad I forgot his name!) came and took a look. Since the garage door was covered for replacement through the Association he said he could have someone here Monday morning or to fit my schedule to replace it. I said great! So this morning Gerald Roberts with Reliable Garage Door shows up with a huge Garage Door and new motor to replace the old one. He was right on time and went right to work! As I drank my coffee to try and wake up I could hear a couple of drill sounds and a tiny bit of bustling around. Just a bit later I went to take the dog for a walk and realized Gerald had already removed the old garage door, motor, cables and tracks and replaced them all with an entire new set!!! At this point Gerald was donning an imaginary Super Cape to me! Yes I will compare him to IronMan, Thor, and mostly Captain America. I've never seen 1 guy do this much work, PERFECTLY I might add, so quickly, efficiently and all with a great smile and demeanor. When he was done he explained to us how to take care of our new garage door and made sure we had no more questions. He then packed his things up, left my garage cleaner than it was when he showed up and rode off into the sunrise. (I can hear the hero's music as he drove away). We had a complete replacement done to our garage door back in 2014, to include the door, all the track pieces and the opener. After the first year we called them for our "Free Annual Tune Up" and were able to schedule a 2-hour window for the service call. I was very pleased that he showed up promptly, lubricated every moving piece on the door, checked the opener safety reverse and the door-balance-point and was done in less than 30 minutes. He didn't try to sell me anything. Fast forward to January 2019: The door started to open slowly and didn't 'sound happy' so I remembered the service I had received before from Reliable. Since I hadn't had the door tuned up in three years, I thought I had lost the 'free annual tune up' option, but when I used the online chat feature on their website, the scheduler said it didn't expire and we scheduled for the next day. I was very pleased that the technician called about 30 minutes prior to the window and said that he was running a little ahead of schedule and asked if he could show up early. Once again, the tech was prompt, did the door tune-up first and then started evaluating the opener. He ended up replacing a circuit board in the opener and everything seemed to be back to normal. After several cycles of normal operation, the opener slowed again and he ended up doing a 'head swap', completely under warranty. From a 5-year experience, I highly recommend Reliable Garage Door. They keep their schedules, are fair on their prices and honor their warranty. I cannot say enough positive about a company like that. read more

My garage door opener had broken, but of course I was procrastinating getting it fixed and just opening in manually. Then one morning I could no longer get it to open - had no idea what was wrong. I called Reliable at 10:35 and asked if they could get someone out as soon as possible - by 11:00 they were ringing my doorbell - holy fast Batman! The guy was able to fix the issue enough so that I could lift in manually again, and was willing to leave it at that, but since he was there I went ahead and asked him for a quote on fixing or replacing the opener. Since it had been a week or so since it had originally broken, I had already done some research on replacement costs, so felt good that the price he quoted me was fair, so went ahead with having him install a new unit. Only took him a little over an hour to have the new unit installed, and he even cleaned off the front of the door before he left where the old chain that was hanging down had been leaving grease marks on the door when I lifted it open. He also let me know some other things that could stand to be replaced and told me the cost, but told me they weren't urgent and that I didn't need to do it all at once - just something to think about within the next few years. No hard sell to add on services/repairs I didn't need right then and there. Super appreciative of the fast service and what I felt was reasonable pricing and honesty in assessing what was a nice to have versus a need to have. Our door had begun reversing itself when trying to shut. Happens in afternoons in hot sun. Even though there was no urgency the technician came quickly, and assessed the situation as a weakness of design in our old Genie system: sunlight on the motion detectors was causing the door to reverse. I was pleased that he came up with such a simple solution which did not require any immediate action. I opted to have the very worn rollers replaced after receiving a cost estimate. Yes, the technician did suggest a cost deal if I should decide to replace the old operator mechanism, along with new springs and cables, but did not push it. At some point the work will have to be done but I chose not to do it now. I think these kinds of suggestions are common practice in this business. In summary, they got here fast, provided a simple solution, and made a non-pushy suggestion for eventual replacement before something breaks. A couple of weeks later I had Reliable come back to replace the old operator mechanism I had decided to keep trying. Its performance kept getting worse. Excellent installation of new LiftMaster system which works smoothly and reliably now. Installer (Josh) respected my request to avoid replacing wires and brackets where not needed, and all works well. Excellent company. read more

Bryan Broberg was awesome. Bryan installed a new Liftmaster 8550W, all new rollers, cables, slide lock and powder coated brackets for the cables. His attention to the finest details was perfect. I expected the old wiring would be reused but Bryan said "I am going to run all new wire. If it was my home I would want that done." I did not expect the time to be spent running new wire but again it's the fine details that matter. Brian also replaced an old ugly piece of angle iron on the interior of my door with a nice piece of white painted metal to match the door. You are lucky to have Bryan. I will definitely be recommending your company and will call you in the future if I need anything. There are some negative comments in this feed due to pricing but I felt the price was fair. Practically everything has a lifetime warranty and the people complaining about pricing fail to mention that. That means WORRY free. Just call them and they will come back out and fix almost everything. Professional service has a price. The vans at Reliable Garage Door are well stocked and everything was done in less than two hours. read more

Our old garage door became inoperable, so I called 3 garage door companies for bids. Dan from Reliable came out the very next morning and met with my husband. We are so happy we decided on Reliable. The other companies said it would be 2 weeks before the door would be available, but, In a matter of days, not weeks, Matt, from Reliable, installed a new Heritage 3000 door with a new LiftMaster garage door opener. The next day, I called with a concern, and Chris came out that afternoon to make sure the door was working correctly. It was, it worked perfectly. The date of installation was July 2nd, and the door still works perfectly, is quiet and looks beautiful. I am so impressed with the professionalism, skill, and concern the gentleman from Reliable showed us. Dan, Matt and Chris were patient with my questions in person and on the phone. I felt they really cared. I recommend Reliable Garage Door to anyone needing a new door or repairs on their existing door. Our garage door spring broke at 5:45pm last Friday night and I had hoped we could get someone to fix it by Saturday afternoon. I called Reliable Garage Door and they were extremely nice and helpful and told me that they could have someone out that night to replace the spring. Dan H. came out to our house in Eagan within an hour. He gave me multiple price options for repairing the broken spring which were comparable to what we have paid in the past for similar repairs, plus there was no trip fee. Dan completed the repair quickly and efficiently. When I asked him multiple questions about a new door (ours was 30 years old and falling apart), he was very helpful and knowledgeable. We did end up purchasing a new garage door (but did not feel pressured at all to do so) and they were able to install it on the following Thursday. Russ did the install of the new garage door and put it together very quickly. He did an excellent job and did not leave until I had reviewed the work and was 100% happy with the finished product. I went to open my garage door this morning and it would not open. I tried several times but it would only go up a little bit then stop. I had an important meeting to get to and was unable to get my car out. I am a very critical person when it comes to businesses and the services they offer. Having said that, I am pleased to say that Reliable Garage Door is one of the best, if not the best, I've ever worked with. I contacted many garage door companies and Reliable was by far the most knowledgeable and helpful. My initial contact was with Sue who proved to be as knowledgeable as the others I worked with at Reliable and made sure I was comparing apples to apples when it came to selecting the proper door with the proper "wind loading" which none of the other companies mentioned and if I asked about it, it was an extra cost item even though it is required by code. My next contact was with Jake who did the measurements and "sealed the deal" with me. Jake was also extremely knowledgeable and helpful. My last contact was with Andrew, my installer. He did a great job and explained everything he was doing. Lastly, all of this great service came with a price that beat all of the other companies I contacted. My garage door cable had rusted through and broke on a Friday morning, effectively trapping my car in the garage and preventing me from taking my kids to school. I had called several places closer to my house and got nothing but automated systems, voicemail systems and phones that rang and rang. Then I found Reliable's number and called. Great service, very professional. Our garage panels were on the verge of breaking apart due to loose hinges. I called Thursday at 10am and that same day at 1pm they arrived, diagnoised and repair. By 2:30 the technician was out the door. He (Bryan) was very professional, gave quotes with options with lesser priced items and didn't make a crying scene if I didn't get the higher priced items. We built our home 8 yrs ago acting as general contractors, so I've had my large, large share/spectrum of all types of people in the trade. My BIGGEST pet peeve is having, first part of your home broken, THEN to have the techinician whine, whine, whine, complain about how poorly the previous job was done - when I'm thinking in my head 'HOW DOES THIS HELP ME?!?!' This place and the technician were nothing like that, very fast, knew what they were doing, and priced good and out the door. Replaced coil, struts on side and hinges plus labor = 577$. Not going to cry about price, I pay more for 3 weeks of groceries, compared to not doing anything for my garage for 8 years. read more

Mike G. from Reliable Garage Door was in his work van parked on the street. He saw me walk towards him and opened his window. He smiled and said hello. I asked if he was drumming up business. He said he'd just finished a call and was doing paperwork. I didn't want to bother him since he probably wanted to get home. So I told him I had a garage door problem and asked for a business card. Instead of giving me a card, he got out of his vehicle and said he'd take a quick look at my garage door. I've been dealing with a door that would NOT go down with the remote for over a year. The only way I could make it work is to hold down the button on the wall switch until the door was fully closed before releasing the button. Mike found a loose wire and had it fixed in less than 5 minutes!! That's impressive! We talked about the health of my garage door overall. It will likely need replacing in the near future.
