These are my husband's words. Our new garage door springs may out live us and that wasn't even what was broken. This is an example of how much over selling and over priced this company is. The only thing that was broken was a lift cable. The salesman then mentioned several other elements of the garage door that were "absolute crap". He said other companies just sell you junk and that our garage was full of junk parts. He used fear tactics to deter my husband from fixing the issue himself. He added that any parts we would find at a home improvement store are garbage. Now, almost $1,000 later we won't have to worry about most elements of our garage door ever again. The irony is all we can do now is worry about how ripped off we got. The service was great and fast at least. The reason they are so expensive is they are inflating prices for any future service call given that all of their products come with lengthy warranties. Our springs will now last 90 Years! We're pretty sure we will be dead by then. It's a bummer our go to company was booked through Memorial Day weekend. In hindsight we should have gotten another quote and we would've saved hundreds of dollars. The original broken cables were less than a $50 part replacement. This company at a minimum charges over $400 for that particular repair service. So f-ing annoying. They scare normal minded people into making fool-hearty decisions but do it with a smile on their face. My husband has been upset all night because of this but says he will have peace of mind once he gets over this. read more

Reliable Garage Door Service installed my garage door. I paid $3300, and a couple of days later, I had issues trying to close it. I had them come out. Their mechanic first stated that it was my fault for the door being broken. He was condescending and unwilling to understand I had no part in why the door became broken. The most friendly and attentive customer service you could dream up, yet not pestering. I was able to schedule a time that worked for me and got a call from the technician when they were 15 minutes away. They were masked and professional. Installed my new opener, showed me how it worked and took away the old one. I got a follow up call a couple days latter to make sure everything was working and learned that I get a free annual tuneup every year if I want one. I would be very protective of your belongings if you use this service. An expensive bike light was missing from my garage after the technician worked on reinstalling my keypad. After calling customer service and filing a police report I'm disappointed in their response. There are no cameras in my complex and with inconclusive findings the representative was unwilling to come to an agreed resolution. read more

I had an error code 4-5. Sensor momentarily obstructed. The door would work only if the button was held down the entire time the door was closing. It wasn't the sensor at all. A squirrel had chewed the wires between the sensors. Reliable guys found it and fixed it in 15 min. read more

Interested in the hard sell? Interested in having your afternoon sucked away by a sketchy sales guy blocking your alley? Interested in price gouging? Then by all means...call these guys. Sales guy showed up. Eventually gave me a price after annoying sales shtick. When I said I'd be getting a second bid, price magically dropped by $450 bucks, but only if I purchased that evening. This was after a number of trips to his alley clogging van. I cannot over state how annoying this interaction was. At one point I just left my backyard and went in the house. I wished I had just told this guy to leave and released my German Shepherd into my backyard. I have small children. I have a life. I don't like being screwed with and I hate having my time wasted. Even if their price (after the magical drop) was relatively competitive, I'd rather swim in a pool of razor blades than give my business to a company with these sorts of practices. We went with a different company with a similar price, less douchey sales practices and efficient estimating. read more

Thankfully, I had the sense to get a second quote. These guys come out and put the full-court press on you with the upwell. It's possible they do wonderful repairs. I don't know because I will never have them come to my house again. From the moment the guy looked at my door and I told him we just needed the spring replaced, he started up-selling HARD, eventually getting the bill to $1275. When I called Reliable, they gave me an honest reply to my question for a quote. All doors are different, but they said they would come out for free and give me an estimate. They arrived on time and they did give me an estimate for the best springs and other repairs that would be best for me. He was truthful about the repairs needed and about the service life for the different options. He made me aware of other future issues with my garage door. He showed me and I agreed that these other items needed attention. I did not feel pressured, I expressed my need for an economical repair and he explained what kind of service life I could expect from this option. These guys knew what they were doing. Okay so I actually called a place where a solicitor had placed a coupon on my door. The operator at Reliable door was wonderful, set up an appointment when it was covenient for me. I called ahead to explain the make and model and what I thought the garage opener needed in parts. They told me they would call ahead 15 minutes. I booked between 5-7. At 4:45 I got a call for a 5 p.m. arrival time. Joe Kill came exactly at 5 p.m. He was wonderful, listened to me and did what I wanted even though we both knew the opener should be replaced. My elderly father was left to deal with this company in my mother's absence. For a single door garage they sold him over $1500 of crap he didn't need and a garage door opener made for 2-3 doors with several remotes. Beyond disgusted!! Decided it was time for new openers. I liked Liftmaster brand as I have seen lots of them on various jobsites I've worked on. Called Reliable for an estimate. Bryan and John showed up super friendly, not pushy, and with great recommendations for both openers and some maintenance on the doors themselves. They priced match another slightly lower bid I had gotten and installed SAME DAY. Amazing...keep in mind I just called for a quote. Can't really think of a negative comment. Left wire broke on my garage door.. They were quick and responsive but quoted me 470$ for two wires that costed 60$.. Out of frustration I told the guy to just fix it.. Later that evening as I researched what the tech actually did, I found out that he actually charged me for spring adjustment when it was not needed when replacing the cable. My electric garage door opener was opening the double garage door slowly and quite noisy. I was fearful of it suddenly failing completely. I called yesterday and asked if someone could come out timely. I was offered today. A garage serviceman came out and assessed the problem and fixed it perfectly. I thought I knew what was needed and I was correct and I also suggested doing some maintenance of rollers and exposed ball bearings. They were 50 years old. I called for a free estimate. I was shocked when the person said $2200. He asked if I lived alone and what my HOA fees were. My Home Inspector came back out to look. Reliable did great work for us back in 2006. They called last week and offered a FREE inspection. I agreed and was glad I did. Torsion spring was broken and they came out to replace that. No estimates are given over the phone. The technician recommended changing the rollers and adding struts in addition to replacing the broken spring. Total cost nearly $700. I was shocked. $200 for springs, $188 rollers and $129x2=$258 for struts. I asked to replace just the spring and the technician literally indicated he won't do that. I don't want to inconvenience my tenant, so I just get the job done. They did a good job but are really pricey. Later I find online pricing for these things, I could have easily saved $200-$300. I think these companies need to be more honest with homeowners about costing. Reasonable pricing and less pushy sales can get you more business and recommendation. Horrible up sellers!, we only had one broken cable, and a bent track and it cost $1,133. I am so upset that we trusted them. I am sick that we didn't get a second estimate PRIOR. Last night we had a garage door spring and cable unexpectedly break rendering the door stuck in the closed position. We found Reliable online and they seemed like a legitimate business as we didn't want to call some "company" that would answer the phone "yo". They were very professional, but the pricing that they charged was like stealing. $1183 dollars later I have a working garage door. All the parts were installed in about an hour. When I started looking at Home Depot as to what these parts actually cost, I was stunned. Reliable charged $299 for a spring that costs about $40! If you don't care what it costs, these guys could be a good option, however, if you have a better use for $1000 than garage door parts, look elsewhere! read more

I don't necessarily enjoy writing negative reviews about a business, however, in the interest of protecting fellow consumers I think we all have an obligation to raise public awareness when a company uses less than honest tactics. I found Reliable Garage Door at a home improvement show in Maple Grove. I explained to them that I had a fairly new garage door that was out of kilter and needed adjusting. They said they could look at it the next business day. Two men showed up the next day and instantly determined that the door wasn't worth repairing and offered a new door at a cost of $1, 400.00. I was a bit disturbed given the existing door was not that old. I asked about correcting the existing door. They quoted me $1, 000.00. I told them that was much higher than I anticipated. They offered to "take payments." After they left, I found someone on Craigslist. He has been in the business for 35 years. He quoted $80 over the phone. I was skeptical but I agreed. An hour later he arrived. An hour and fifteen minutes later the door worked beautifully. Total charge-$80.00. I won't give the name of this gentleman as it would appear that I'm promoting his business. Take the time to get bids...you'll be amazed. read more
