I would just like to start out by saying this dealership did try to resolve an issue that we had…read morewith a vehicle I purchased from them, but they made too many mistakes for me to take it back to them a second time, essentially if you do purchase from them, test drive the vehicle to a local shop and have it inspected.
I bought a vehicle from them about two months ago and it has been a shop queen for six of the eight weeks I have owned it. When I first purchased it, I took a look at it and it did look clean overall, but then I looked underneath and it had the typical Michigan undercarriage rust. It did not look too unmanageable, so I decided to buy it.
While driving home I noticed the steering wheel was a little difficult to turn and I noticed a clunk under acceleration. Once I arrived home, I decided to look at the fluids and see if the exhaust was just loose. I popped the hood and checked the power steering fluid first, it had too much fluid in it and while checking the rear end I didn't notice anything obvious at quick glance but I did see that the parking brake cable was completely broken in half. I called the dealership and asked if they could do anything to fix it.
Fast forward about a week and I dropped the vehicle off at the dealership so they could take a look at these two issues. Two weeks later they said it was ready to pick up, and everything was good. They replaced the rear hub assemblies, E-brake cables, both rear lower ball joints, the parking brake shoes, both backing plates, and all rear brakes including one caliper.
On the way home, the clunk was still present. Instead of taking it back to them considering it had not been fixed, I took it to a dealership to have it looked at and to get a second opinion. They diagnosed a broken rear cradle bushing and said the entire rear cradle/subframe assembly was in poor condition and would need to be replaced (along with related hardware, links, bushings, etc.). They also let me know that the vehicle should never have been sold in the condition it was in and it was no safe to drive. They gave me an estimate of around $6,700.
I declined the work at that time, and the same day I picked it up from the dealership I brought it to a different shop. They found the same severe issues: badly rusted and broken rear subframe/cradle and quoted me roughly half the price ($3,600) for a complete remove-and-replace of the rear subframe assembly plus the necessary control arms, links, springs, hardware, etc. The photos of the old parts show just how badly rusted and deteriorated the original cradle was.
I did reach out to North 75 and they did offer to have us bring the vehicle in again. However, after they sold it to us like this and then did not fix the problem when we took it back, we were worried they would just band aid it and not be transparent again with us. Both shops we took it too told us upon intake, there was no way if a 120 point check was done, that the broken bushings and subframe should have been missed. So, they missed the first time when they received it and the second time we took it in.
I'm glad another shop was able to fix it for a more reasonable price, but the whole experience has left a bad taste. The car was sold with significant underlying rust damage and other problems that were going to require major (and expensive) work almost immediately. We gave them a chance to make it right and they didn't. I won't be taking it back to this dealership again and highly suggest taking the car you like to a reputable shop before purchasing.
Also today (9-17-26) it decided to shut off randomly on the highway, putting my wife in danger due to being in the passing lane and could barely maneuver onto the shoulder.
