I hesitated to write this review because I've know David through the local chapter of the VMC for a…read morewhile. But, as another reviewer said, David is a really nice guy, but he and his work are not reliable. After two failed jobs in a row, I have decided to quit using his shop and just do myself. I had to redo it any. The first case was with an oil change. They didn't tighten the oil filter and my bike leaked oil all over the garage. That would normal for some bikes, but not mine. It doesn't feel the need to mark it's territory. For what ever reason, I couldn't get it to stop leaking by just tightening the filter. I had to drain the oil, install a new filter, and put new oil in. At the time, I thought, anyone can have a bad day and it's an easy mistake. So a few months later, I take it back to him for another oil change and air filter swap. I also spoke to him about the previous oil leak. I get the bike back and no oil leak. But.... while riding I would catch a whiff of gas on occasion. I check for leaks and didn't see any. Over the next week of going back and forth to work, the gas smell appears more often, is stronger, and when I get to work, I smell like gasoline. Still no real sign of a leak though. Then I get a check engine light, and error code that could mean a lot of things, and I find the leak. Unfortunately, it is a pencil stream of gas and I'm on my way home from work. Work is two blocks away and home is 17 miles, so I make it back to the office and call a tow truck to take us home. In a nutshell, you have to remove the tank to get to the air filter. There is a high pressure connector that has to be taken off the tank as you remove it. It's a delicate affair as indicated by me breaking the host connector on one occasion. When I lift the tank to get to the hose, the connector from the tank is just sitting in the hose, not snapped in like it should be. The air filter was completely soaked, so I used this opportunity to upgrade the air filter with a high performance one and put it all back together. My wife was a lot of bit angry, both at David and at me for taking it back to him after the oil filter leaking. David is knowledgeable, reasonably priced, and seems to know what he is doing, but he lacks attention to detail. At least that's what we called it in the Nuclear Navy....You can be smart and know the answers backwards and forwards. But if I have to go back and either redo your work or at least recheck it, I might was well do it myself. And I don't trust his work anymore.

I said fine because that's what I've always used. Thought balancing was included and he didn't quote me any more cost - picked up my rim and tire and was charged a $50 bill ...$17 for a couple of tablespoons of beads ? needless to say I feel that's really screwed up ! I should of been told of the price difference... Hell I had beads at home ... I'm still walking funny from my experience there ... very sad ... seemed like a nice guy . I understand a guy has overhead but you don't need to screw the customer to get there. BEWARE !

I took it to platinum motorcycles and discussed options with them over e-mail. They had great ideas on how to bring it back to life. In the end, we went with a new cobalt paint and re-chrome. They even did a little Texas custom logo on my air cleaner. Man, the work is awesome! Tore it down and put it back together again. I can't believe it's the same bike. They were super thorough, very knowledgeable and really friendly throughout the whole deal. I give them wholeheartedly 5-stars. Their prices were great and work was top notch. And all this over e-mail mind you. I've never met nor talked with them once. Final note that this was over the COVID-19 period. That's the sign of a great shop doing great work.
