Moving from Boston meant I didn't have the luxury of having days to go around to look a numerous apartments. I found one that I really like and emailed to inquire. Georgia was very fast with response and got back to me within 30 minutes! My wife had also already started the hunt online and emailed others to setup viewings. Georgia went out of her way to be available the same day I had emailed her (Saturday) for a viewing later that afternoon. I was very surprised that she was willing to setup the viewing for that same day and immediately made my way down. We had agreed to meet at a certain time, yet the Mass Pike was under construction so we were almost 45 minutes late. At the time, our son was five months old, and with a newborn and a major move, we decided to hire a realtor for her expertise and to reduce our stress. When Stephanie first visited the house to sign the contract, she seemed enthusiastic and proactive. Unfortunately, once the contract was signed, the experience quickly became a nightmare. * Poor Listing Presentation: The Zillow description was not professionally written and omitted key selling points of the property. We ended up writing the content ourselves and sending it to her to post. * Lack of Effort at Showings: She showed little enthusiasm when presenting the property. * Limited Knowledge of the Area: Despite claiming expertise, she was unfamiliar with the town. We repeatedly told her that Wallingford's lower electric rates were a major selling point, yet she never mentioned it to prospective renters. * Unacceptable Delays with Security Deposit: It took two weeks after the lease was signed to receive the security deposit, even though it should have been collected immediately. On the scheduled pickup day--almost three weeks after signing--she texted only hours before to say she had fallen and postponed again. With our move approaching and a newborn at home, I ended up driving to her office myself to collect the check. In the end, it was not worth paying the equivalent of one month's rent for her services. She did not perform even the basic tasks expected of a realtor, and her involvement made the process more stressful during an already challenging time.
