I have been going to this clinic for 3 years now. I completely trust the Doctor and always feel…read morebetter after my visit. There have been times when I went there because of back pain having problems standing straight, and after one treatment I was able to stand straight. I also went when I had a skin virus that caused lumps under my eyes. Acupuncture helped to drastically reduce the lumps. Acupuncture also helps me with psoriasis and stress. The staff are friendly. I love the foot bath and the cupping treatment as well!

Do Not Trust Them! I realized I left the office without a receipt to submit to my insurance for…read morereimbursement from my insurance. I called the office and the receptionist was looking at all my info in front of her on a computer, she said the service date and my check number I paid by, etc. Then she said she was not in the office and would have to mail it to me when she was next week even though she just told me all this info. Never mailed it. I went in and the acupuncturist was there. He said he was sorry about that. Then he preceded to open this drawer and that like he could find it somewhere other than on the computer. He said the receptionist would have to do it but she was out and would mail it to me after the weekend. Never did. I was going to go in to the office again when I got a message on my machine saying they have mailed the invoice to me so I don't need to come in. After 3 and 1/2 weeks, of trying I got it in the mail. But I looked it over for everything needed to submit it. He did not have his provider tax id on it. There was a spot for it but it was empty. He also didn't have his phone number on it. I called and left a message to get it but did not receive an answer and my phone calls during business hours were not answered. They always answered before, even after hours....never seemed very busy there. I couldn't believe it was such and issue to get a receipt. They had my money, I just wanted a receipt to get the money back from my insurance. Something was definitely fishy. I talked to my insurance and since he has taken so long to provide the invoice and won't provide all what I need for it now, they suggested I file a claim against him. So now they are going to try to get him to do what he is legally bound to do as a contracted provider with them. As for the herbs, the other reviewers are correct. He seems more intent on selling these and comes up with whatever excuse as to why you need them. Had nothing to do with my back pain which is why I was there. He wanted me to pay 160 for 6 small packets of the stuff. It seemed like he was marking this waaaaaaaaayyyy up and that is where he is making his money. i did not buy it. The insurance, of course, doesn't cover the herbs. As for treatment, my upper back was hurting. He tied a belt around my knees and ankles and stood on the table, and on my back as he pulled my feet up in the air. It hurt like hell. Then he put some needles in, left and the receptionist came in and took out the needles. Not surprisingly, my back hurt worse afterward, not better. This is a very very untrustworthy establishment. Do not go! Listen to the reviewers.

Community Acupuncture Clinic…read more Yes, when I turned 60 (a while ago) the dreaded aches and pains started showing up everywhere. Also, at that time I read the book, Younger Next Year which I haven't been able to get out of my head. Though I can't tell a lot about chapters mostly aging and staying motivated, I do know that the premise is keep moving! Three years ago some part of my nerve/tendon/muscle structure got pinched. I'm not sure of the origin of it but it was likely from trying to lift (and drop) heavy boxes headed for the attic. My job (Metro bus driver) provides me with good insurance, so I first went to Ballard Health Clinic for massage. Though I have an excellent opinion of BHC, the pain and range of motion issues were getting worse. Driving a bus for hours really pushed me into an overuse situation. While this was certainly a bother, my stiffness was tolerable. The things changed as I would wake up with pain and tingling down my right arm and hand. Painful to the point of keeping me up for hours. Continuing to bus drive, do yard work, and play toss was putting me into a spiral I didn't understand. With Sonja's help, and support from my primary and BHC I learned my pain and problem was Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS), which involves compression of the nerves and arteries in the lower neck and upper chest area. I've known Sonja a very long time, and we've talked about her practice at the clinic, but I didn't understand acupuncture. I would come to the clinic, find my favorite chair and needles were getting place everywhere. With TOS and overuse, it took several visits to reverse this spiral. Stretching and icing also helps and now I can get into a preventative routine and use CAP/Burien to keep the chi moving. One more thing... about my insurance. Even I figured out how to self-submit to Regence and access my benefit. Part of keep moving is to not allow things like a little paperwork to become roadblocks. I value a lot the positive support and encourage of CAP/Burien to stay active. 70 is just around the corner. Patrick

When I first considered acupuncture, I wanted to make sure I went into it with a level head and…read morereasonable expectation. I wasn't a skeptic by any means, but I do sometimes suffer from "if it doesn't work immediately, it won't work at all" syndrome. So I remember telling myself to treat it like physical therapy. Commit to going in regular intervals for a reasonable period of time, and expect improvement to be slow and steady. I suffer from an autoimmune disorder and am already showing signs of a secondary one (which according to my doctors; it's common for autoimmune disease sufferers to eventually start collecting bonus diseases). Working at a bakery at the time of my first sessions, it was difficult for me to spend long shifts lifting heavy bags of baking ingredients and getting up and down on my knees to clean the bakery machinery. One day, only a few weeks into regular treatments (twice a week), a coworker commented on how I wasn't using my mobility aids to get up and down and wanted to know how I was doing it! I couldn't believe I hadn't even realized! But after that comment, I absolutely started realizing ALL the little things that I was suddenly doing that I hadn't been able to without pain or help for nearly a decade. I felt like I had gone through a factory reset! My joints, my menstrual cycle, and even my mental health improved so much in such a short time. I will never be able to thank the practitioners at CAP enough for everything they do for me to keep my body and mind strong and mobile! If you are hesitant due to a fear of needles, or are confused about the community room setting, please do yourself a favor and at least give it a try! It could change your life.
