After my previous glowing reviews of Vitality Chiropractic, unfortunately, I have to give a bad one for my final posting. I was 10 minutes late for my appointment today. Unfortunately, there were a variety of traffic hassles and long waits at red lights just to get to the office. when I arrived I was informed that I could not be seen, because I was too late. Mind you, there was absolutely no one, let me repeat that, no one in the office except the receptionist, who did all the dirty work, and I assume Dr Bonnie hiding in the back somewhere. I left without another word, and that is the last time I will ever be going to this place. I regret that our doctor-patient relationship had to come to an end this way after 20 years. This is a great Chiropractic office. Dr. Bonnie is not only a good Doctor but one of the genuinely nicest ladies I have ever met. As a Chiro she is a soft touch. She has a drop table and uses an activator for adjustments. For those who don't like the feeling of having their neck or back broken this is the Dr. for you. She has been in practice in Des Moines for at least 8+/- years now and I have never heard a bad word. Sara the office manager is also put together and doesn't make mistakes. They take many insurances and have reasonable cash plans as well. Dr. Bonnie is a huge believer in lifetime Chiropractic and specializes in families. Lots of kids get help here. Parking is the only drawback as you have to go downstairs... many people (if they are hurt) get dropped off on the side of the building so they don't have to use the stairs. read more

I was basically treated really badly and I am still scarred from my time there. There was something very wrong with the Receptionist who projected things onto me constantly and was verbally abusive. I got made fun of by Verhunce with other clients about my short neck, and promised help from her pro bono from a car accident lawyer who not only DID NOT help me but was psychotic and I ended up never getting help for that accident. several years ago I crashed my mountain bike and did some deep and significant damage to my shoulder and surrounding areas. I've been struggling with the aftermath since the crash, to point that I had to stop working out, and was limited in my activities, due to pain in my shoulder. I started going to Dr Bonnie a couple of months ago, on a weekly basis. In the months since she began treating me, I've experience a dramatic reduction in soreness and tight, uncomfortable muscle spasms. I've since been able to return to the gym and begin restrengthening my shoulders, due to her weekly treatments. Now, a couple of short months later, I'm back riding bikes and rock climbing, thanks to her. I'm very thankful to Dr. Bonnie. Dr. Bonny was my lifesaver today. I've been seeing her for about 5 sessions but today was the day I REALLY needed the adjustment. She was able to listen to my concerns and where I was experiencing pain . She was able to release a good amount of my pressure areas spot on! I have been going to this office for help for a long time. I have read all of the reviews and they are consistently good, which I am in total agreement with, except for one. I am wondering what The one poor review was thinking or if the person was balanced at the time of the office visit. Dr Bonnie is the best! She does minimal manual manipulation and focuses more on table adjustments and "the pressure point" clicker. I come from a long line of chiropractic care for severe old injuries and Dr Bonnie is one of the very best I've been to. She is very thoughtful in her approach to each individuals care and has worked with me to give me the best care possible for my particular situation. My husband and I love Dr. Bonnie and her wonderful new assistant/receptionist/everything gal Cindy! I recommend Vitality to people all the time - I've never had a bad experience. I started with Dr. Bonnie when I was so messed up I couldn't even extend my right arm all the way, and she got me back in great shape. Then, when I got rear ended by a big Jeep at 6 months pregnant, her office took care of all the insurance requirements and got me into massage treatment as well. It's been 6 weeks since the accident, and because of the treatments I am doing much better and should be in good shape for labor and delivery. I have been going to Vitality Chiropractic for about 2 years. Dr. Bonnie is the first chiropracter I've seen who doesn't make me whince when she adjusts my neck! She uses a very gentle adjustment that does not involve twisting my neck, but is just as effective if not more so. I highly recommend Dr Bonnie Verhunce of Vitality Chiropractic to any patient interested in chiropractic care to suit your wellness/healthcare goals.
