They're the largest printing company in the Gainesville area and also appear to own or operate Target Copy--a fact they seem not very forthcoming to admit but if you ask where things go when sent "to our other location" for printing from the Target Copy on University Aveune (a large outfit in itself) they'll finally admit it's over to Renaissance's main office. I'm not detailing this just for the sake of trivia but so people will know whether you select Target or Renaissance, you're getting the same deal overall, however, I found the staff at Target Copy far better than most at Renaissance. In both cases, the staff is overall friendly and helpful, but the folks at Renaissance seem a little confused on basic printing terms and technologies. Case in point, three different people at Renaissance could not seem to understand what a dye-sublimation printer was, whether they could or could not do foil-stamping, and what technology in their plant would produce the closest results to (a) an IRIS print or (b) traditional lithography. Granted, these are questions they may not get every day from most customers who desire simple photocopying or the like, however, they are terms and questions common to the printing industry and concepts anyone who has had even a high school graphic design course should understand (in fact, I first learned of all the above save the IRIS in my 10th grade graphic design class). All the staff, again, we unfailingly polite and apologized many times for *not* being able to answer my questions, but that still doesn't (in very literal terms) get the job done because I couldn't leave my job TO be done since I couldn't discern whether they had the capacity to DO the job. Gah. I'm giving Renaissance three stars though for a polite staff and fast turn-around for the type of everyday printing and copying jobs they do for the majority of their clients. If you need a menu printed for your restaurant, new business cards, or simply a lot of photocopying, I believe you can trust them to do it at a fair price and in a prompt manner. However, if you're a graphic designer, publisher, fine artist, or anyone else who needs more sophisticated printing I cannot recommend Renaissance in full, and would probably suggest either StorterChilds for large jobs or for art prints maybe Harmon's/Flair, though all my art stuff now I send to Old Town Editions in Alexandria, Virginia who are awesome for what they do but far away and not cheap, either. read more

I spent an hour at FedEx trying to print a simple 8x10 photo and they could NOT print it without it streaking or being discolored. I ran over to Renaissance and Jim was so helpful and able to print it in 5 minutes. And the prints are VERY high quality! I know I'm going to Renaissance to print EVERYTHING from now on! read more

The people here are very professional, knowledgable, & helpful. The only problem I've ever had was my fault due to my partner not reading a proof carefully. The manager, Lashelle handled it with class & delicately (having to tell me that we screwed up). They're the ONLY full service printer in town IMHO. read more

Met a client here to print some documents her lender was emailing. The lobby is comfortable and the handle all your printing needs. Printing prices are much less expensive than a lot of those big chain stores & there's lots of parking & plenty of room to spread out while conducting your print business. There's even a computer so you can pull up your online documents for printing. read more

Bobby needs an attitude adjustment. I called with some very simple questions regarding the printing of business cards, and a man who identified himself as "Bobby" answered the phone as if speaking to customers was an intolerable burden, too great for him to bear. He was incredibly rude & condescending & seemed completely overwhelmed by having to answer basic questions relating to his job. It was actually comical how contemptuous his tone was. I can't fathom how he functions as an effective employee if a two-minute work-related phone conversation can evoke such a petty & pathetic reaction from him. Inspired by Bobby's blatant disrespect, I took my business to FedEx where I was greeted with helpful, gracious enthusiasm and personal charm; in stark contrast to Bobby's little stuck-up, jaded temper tantrum. I had wanted to support a local business, but I will never support a "Bobby" with an attitude like that. I've never left a review for anyone before but I had to let y'all know that this guy should not be allowed within a thousand yards of a customer. Keep him in the back, away from the phones and anyone trying to have a pleasant day. I saw on the business's website that Renaissance Printing is 100% employee owned. I would like to encourage Bobby's co-workers to make sure he's okay. He's costing y'all business and may be in serious need of a hug or a time out. Maybe hike the Appalacian Trail or take an ice bath or something to get his mind right. He's obviously at the end of his rope & you can't expect customers to tolerate that. Disappointing. Years ago I used Renaissance w satisfaction. Times change. I called and spoke to a manager who I wont name about a job recently (layout and design for cookbook w photos, everything already in digital file format just needing a graphic designers touch; he asked for specs via phone then asked me to send him a digital copy of my work and promised a quote within a few days. Despite several follow up messages on my part I never received a quote nor a courtesy call or even email of any kind. After a week I gave up. I felt disgusted that I put time and energy into a useless interaction. Time is money and Renaissance wasted mine. read more

I recently used Renaissance Printing for the production of a Celebration of Life program for my deceased grandfather. The staff was extremely helpful and kind through the entire process. They helped me design and print the program in just a few days time, acknowledging that a bereavement event was time sensitive. They even had the program finished and all copies printed a day ahead of schedule. Besides the kindness and efficiency of each staff member that I worked with, what impressed me the most was how the design staff went above and beyond what I had presented to them. Not only did the design team incorporate all the photos, text, layout, and font that I gave them, they went beyond by finding and incorporating a lovely background graphic for the program cover, as well as cropping the photos beautifully and applying to them a simple, elegant border. These extra steps really elevated the final product.
