Diane and Damien are great hosts, keeping a lovely B&B with serene grounds. Amazing getaway! Highly recommend. I'll be back to stay in the other rooms. Room- We stayed at Aquitaine. The room was clean and quaint. It came with a king bed and a day bed. The fireplace adds a rustic feel to the place. Breakfast - There is complimentary breakfast in the morning, make sure you put your orders in through text the night before. You must try the buttermilk biscuits. They arrived piping hot, crispy outside with soft delicate inside. Paired with jam or gravy, every bite is heavenly. They were so sweet and brought us cookies for our birthday. Wine tasting - we had wine tasting with Diane in the lounge room. she is very knowledgeable and a great conversationalist. A charcuterie board, nuts and dessert were waiting for us when we arrived. Damian even brought in a home made flat bread! She took us through 4 Anderson valley wines, introducing us to some small local vineyards.

This place is absolute heaven! The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are lovely and comfortable and the food is excellent! We stayed in the Evergreen room and had a lovely view. I loved getting breakfast at our door every morning. The biscuits and vegan cherry scones (non vegans will not know the difference) were especially tasty and filling. Diane and Damien are the perfect hosts and will make sure your stay is a delight. Can't wait to return again and again. What a treasure.

This review is for the wine tasting and pairing experience that we had at the Rendezvous. We visited for my bachelorette weekend and Diane did not disappoint. From the charcuterie to the wine to the kitty cat and pup (sorry I forget their names!) made for an overall beautiful experience.

    Hwy is right there!

The good: our room at this B&B was well appointed and very clean. Not so good: we had a view of the rooftop of the other rooms, a local road where a truck often drives within 50 feet of the open window and we did hear the sea lions once but far more often the cars on the highway. Having paid over $300, three stars is the rating we feel about giving.

    Warm welcome

Best Bed and Breakfast in the area! Very inviting, comfortable lodging . Grounds are gorgeous with flowers everywhere. The breakfast is wonderful and so fresh. You may want to bring your own coffee and filters for the cottage if you aren't planning to order a coffee drink. Enjoyed using the salon for the first time! Beautiful salon and Dameon did an amazing job with my difficult to deal with hair. Diane and Damien will make you feel welcome and well cared for! We wish we didn't have to leave!

Such a special and lovely place we are sure to return! The breakfast is AMAZING! The chai tea latte, homemade biscuits and fresh jam where my favorites but definitely recommend taking home some of their homemade granola! They also have a salon here which I heard good things from the locals in town and would have loved to try.

This place deserves a lot of kudos. If you drive an EV, Rooms #5 & #6 parking spots have the chargers. The directions to the place is spot-on. The room - #5 is spacious! The bedding with it's multiple layers is heavenly. Pillows- unlike at the Airbnb I stayed at in Fort Bragg - is substantial. The towels are plush. The soaps are quality. (I bring my own hair care.) The bed is big enough to share with my sister. The toilet paper definitely not those cheap products. So nice to enjoy the hot tub & see all the trees. There is a lounge with kitchen facilities. The breakfast - so, so wonderful! Coffee & tea choices available. And the internet which is so spotty between Point Arena & Gualala that it drains my iPhone battery so fast - strong, great bandwidth. Damien & Diane deserves all the success. The attention to detail in this place is superb! Highly recommend!!

After a year of pandemic lockdown, our family was looking for a special getaway, something serene and still full of life and wonder. Surrounded by trees and overlooking Highway 1 and the coast, Rendezvous Mendocino was the answer. Unparalleled warmth and genuine hospitality from our hosts Damien and Diane made our stay even more special. They were always right there (well, at least 6 feet away) to make sure we had what we needed, answer questions about the area, or just share stories about their adventure making this property unique. Their passion and creativity show up around each corner. There are steps behind the rooms that lead you up to a cute area with a small gazebo, perfect for enjoying coffee or a glass of wine and just taking in everything around you. Our room ("Evergreen") was not only spotless, it had all sorts of little touches like antique bird drawings, a fireplace and giant windows with a view of the ocean. This made it magical place to spend wrapping up a long day of hiking adventures, and also waking up and watching nature come alive around you. Speaking of good mornings, Diane's biscuits and gravy are phenomenal, and we debated just eating these three meals a day. Overall, we had such an ideal experience, we began planning for our return visit on the ride home. Our daughter even cried when we had to wave goodbye, because really, who could think of a better place to spend a weekend playing pinecone princess?

Rendezvous was much more than "a place to stay"... It was a place to "experience" - pampering, upgraded amenities, lovely property, and warm, responsive, on site owners/hosts. The thoughtful, quality touches are evident in every detail, including; the abundant availability of high end towels, soft toilet paper ! , immaculate private hot tub, well stocked kitchen supplies, and lovely private garden areas . The hosts , through signage and conversation, truly want to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Without being intrusive they readily respond to texts/calls. They obviously want their business to succeed, and they've adopted a model that says "each guest IS our business.". then, there are the homemade, fresh baked, delicacies for a light breakfast... I don't have the vocabulary to describe, "biscuits and scones" that have changed my attitude about baked goods! these you simply must experience on your own we spent three nights there the end of August 2022,

Our cozy cottage was clean with a great view of the garden and ocean. The bed is very comfortable and the provided space heater helped kept us warm at night. Only con I have to say is the pillows were very flat so we had to sleep with both pillows on top of each other for more support. I love that it had a full kitchen so you can cook delicious meals with fresh ingredients such as the daily delivered eggs straight from the chickens and greens you pick from the garden. If you want a break from cooking or want a meal prepped for when you arrive, you can add in the option of a dinner or picnic basket to your reservation as well. For the activities such as chicken chat and goat gab we weren't able to attend; it was raining pretty heavily during our stay so we opted to stay indoors and enjoy the cozy cabin. For the moments where the rain would stop, it was nice to explore the land, making stops by the bunnies and chickens with our dogs. Definitely planing on coming back! Would love to experience Mar Visita during the spring or summer!

And if you're looking for a place to relax and revel in the calm, powerful beauty of that ocean and that coast, you should consider making this recovering gem your base of operations. A short drive to the restaurants, markets, art galleries and other artifacts of modern Northern California life, including multiple parks and trails. Grounds rich with local trees and well-tended flora. An eclectic selection of comfortable, television-free rooms and suites, some with kitchens or mini-refrigerators so you can lay in provisions and hide from the outside world. Free, fast Wi-Fi for when you want or need to reconnect to said outside world. A Whale Watch Lounge where you can read, play board games, heat some of your provisions or restaurant leftovers in the microwave (if there isn't one in your room) or just gape in slack-jawed wonder at the views. Several rooms have amazing views from windows or decks as well. A highlight of your stay will doubtless be any interactions you have with the marvelous Miren, She Who Runs Things at the Inn. Whether she's bringing your included hot breakfast to your room or recommending nearby attractions, Miren will definitely enhance your stay. There is a weathered, 134-step stairway that deposits you on a lovely stretch of beach. But if you walk, bike or motor to the nearby Anchor Bay Campground, you can buy a day pass that lets you skip those steps and walk comfortably to and from the beach with unlimited "in and out" privileges until sundown. It's not lavish, or pretentious, or overdone. It's comfortable, quiet, and in harmony with its surroundings. The Whale Watch Inn is a nearly perfect place to relax, recharge, and enjoy a perfect dose of some of the magic of the Northern California coast.

The view and surrounding area were beautiful, and Miren was kind to communicate with us, but there were several issues that made us uncomfortable staying. Check-in communication was difficult and we waited hours for a response. Some listed amenities were unavailable during our stay, including the jacuzzi. Beach access was also not directly accessible from the property because the stairs were damaged from a previous storm, so guests had to drive about 0.5 miles away, pay for parking, and walk in from another access point. The Whale Watch Room/community area was nice, but the kitchen setup was very limited. The biggest concern for us was the condition of the room itself. We noticed what appeared to be black mold in multiple areas, including near the window coverings and bedding, and at that point we no longer felt comfortable staying overnight. We chose to leave and drive back home instead. We understand storms and maintenance issues happen, but we do feel the condition of the property and unavailable amenities were not matched to what we paid for.

We live FT in The Sea Ranch so Harbor House is an easy drive and it's like having our own neighborhood Michelin star resort and dining in the hood. Lunch was as good as I remember it. We started with a raw smoked trout stater and it was gently smoked which kept the trout firm and with only a hint of the curing process. Their freshly made bread followed and that kelp churned butter is to die for. The next two courses were a poached black cod in a home made miso sauce that was a lesson in how to ferment properly ! Delicious. The pork loin followed and I must admit it was a little tough - perhaps not rested enough post cooking or just a little over. The dish had teenie tiny wasabi leaves among all the veggies and greens on the plate and they really imparted a lovely natural zinginess...desert was some sort of a custard with a thin meringue and some other wonderfulness that made the whole thing refreshing but not too sweet and a lovely end to the meal. It was our 34th anniversary and we had made it a point to mention it when we made the reservation but they didn't even stick a candle in the dessert they gave us as a part of the meal...which seemed a missed opportunity IMHO. Just saying, we eat out quite a bit and most of the time not to celebrate anything special so it's nice when an establishment makes mention and notice of it in some way... We had the wine pairings ($100/each) along with the five course lunch ($150/each) and they do a nice job with the pairings, mainly featuring nice Italian varietals and of course some local favorites from the area - like Baxter (Pinot) and a dessert style wine that was very nice and not something I would have normally thought to order on my own. The grounds are as beautiful as always and now that spring has sprung and the flowers on their grounds are in full bloom and the beach area is starting to take on that summer sheen - it was a stellar afternoon once again. We will be keeping this place on regular rotation for sure and we look forward to our next meal later this summer when the tomatoes are ripe and the fruits and vegetables are in all their glory ! Highly recommend.

By the way, every room has a private bath, unlike a lot of B&Bs. The house has a variety of rooms and amenities, so do your homework to make sure you get what you're looking for. The WiFi was very spotty and cell signal is non-existent, so plan accordingly for this. The breakfast, while lighter than some B&Bs I've stayed at, was delicious. Everything is homemade by a very talented staff. The service all around was terrific. We ate dinner the first night at the Pier Chowder House, just a 2 minute walk to the waterfront. Good food, lots of local beer and wine to choose from. The second night we found out about a scampi and crab feed at the grange in Manchester, a few miles north of town. There's also a decent Indian Casino just outside of town. There's a great coop market in town (a mile away, back on Hwy 1), as well as a small movie theater that used to be a playhouse. We spent two…read morenights at the Coast Guard House and I have to say, this is one of the quaintest and coziest little B&Bs I've ever stayed in. The location is right on the Arena Cove waterfront; secluded and - most importantly - quiet. The house was actually used by the Coast Guard back in the day so it has lots of history behind it. Your typical frilly Victorian B&B decor (bleh) is non-existant...think more turn-of-the-century craftsman. Our room (Surfmen Cove) was spacious, with a gas fireplace and sunken tub in the bathroom. Downstairs in the living room/parlor there is a wood burning stove that is usually lit in the mornings and evenings with a nice sitting area in front of it. Mmm, love that smell... The innkeepers, Kevin and Mia, have been operating this establishment since the mid-1990s. They are very friendly and willing to help you secure local dinner reservations as well as give you ideas on what to do with yourself while in the Mendocino area. Mia is originally from Philadelphia, so east coast feistiness + plenty of caffeine = enthusiastic "audio/visual presentations" over breakfast on local sights and activities. Fellow inn guests were just as friendly. The group this particular weekend was mostly from the south bay. One evening we ran into another couple staying at the inn at the Arena Cove Bar & Grill (just a few steps away from the CGH...another plus!) after driving back from dinner in Mendocino. We ended up sharing pints, stogies and port well into the wee hours. I would definitely come back here, and maybe next time try one of the two cottages they have on the grounds in addition to the five rooms in the main house. Holiday weekend note: The CGH can be flexible with reservation minimums. The website (which allows online reservations) says there is a three-night minimum required in order to make a reservation over a holiday weekend. For Memorial Day weekend, we actually wanted to stay at the CGH for only two nights (Friday and Saturday) and then head to Napa to stay at the Carneros Inn on Sunday night. On the previous Monday, I noticed online that there still seemed to be rooms available for the weekend. I phoned Kevin and he was agreeable to making an exception to the three-night rule and allowed us to complete our reservation for just two nights.
