Staff was very kind and helpful. The cow parsnip room was clean and comfortable and we had everything we could have needed. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and unique that they delivered to our door. You will not be disappointed. Walking distance to many things in town.

Excellent in every way! We visited mid October so my review is long overdue, but it bodes well that I still clearly remember the experience. The Wildflower Boutique Motel was special - we appreciated the contemporary simple design and beautiful woods, the owner Jeff, has a great eye for detail, and as ex designers, we appreciated that. Loved our breakfast being delivered to our door each morning, I chose Tartine with goat cheese and the package was topped with a cookie and the Wildflower label, a nice touch. As I say, the owner obviously put thought into the whole experience. Point Arena is a surprising little town, with wonderful little stores, a Japanese izakaya and a great fish place at the pier.

    Beautiful flowers outside our room.

Super nice motel. Everything newly renovated. Great bed, new floors, bathroom renovated. The linens were even fresh and new. Super clean. A nice patio sitting area to catch some sun after a day on the road. And as everyone says, breakfast delivered to your room. Rooms also have under-counter fridge and Keurig's. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

A beautiful hotel that felt like a magical stay/ find while traveling the coastal highway with my partner!! Clean and very thoughtfully built; everything from the furniture to the finishings were well thought out and executed! It was quiet, large tv and fridge + keurig available and more pods/items available in the lobby. BEST thing was the delicious breakfast option of your choice brought to your room at your preferred am time. Can't wait to visit again, will not forget this place!

Really nice products in the shower.

By the way, every room has a private bath, unlike a lot of B&Bs. The house has a variety of rooms and amenities, so do your homework to make sure you get what you're looking for. The WiFi was very spotty and cell signal is non-existent, so plan accordingly for this. The breakfast, while lighter than some B&Bs I've stayed at, was delicious. Everything is homemade by a very talented staff. The service all around was terrific. We ate dinner the first night at the Pier Chowder House, just a 2 minute walk to the waterfront. Good food, lots of local beer and wine to choose from. The second night we found out about a scampi and crab feed at the grange in Manchester, a few miles north of town. There's also a decent Indian Casino just outside of town. There's a great coop market in town (a mile away, back on Hwy 1), as well as a small movie theater that used to be a playhouse. They sometimes have live music events there, too. Be sure to drive 4 miles north to the lighthouse. You can actually climb up the 145 steps to the top and see for miles. Take your camera! There's a small museum and gift shop as well. All in all, we had a great weekend. It was well worth the drive. We'll be back!

Just got back from an amazing and relaxing LONG weekend up the coast with the wife. We spent two…read morenights at the Coast Guard House and I have to say, this is one of the quaintest and coziest little B&Bs I've ever stayed in. The location is right on the Arena Cove waterfront; secluded and - most importantly - quiet. The house was actually used by the Coast Guard back in the day so it has lots of history behind it. Your typical frilly Victorian B&B decor (bleh) is non-existant...think more turn-of-the-century craftsman. Our room (Surfmen Cove) was spacious, with a gas fireplace and sunken tub in the bathroom. Downstairs in the living room/parlor there is a wood burning stove that is usually lit in the mornings and evenings with a nice sitting area in front of it. Mmm, love that smell... The innkeepers, Kevin and Mia, have been operating this establishment since the mid-1990s. They are very friendly and willing to help you secure local dinner reservations as well as give you ideas on what to do with yourself while in the Mendocino area. Mia is originally from Philadelphia, so east coast feistiness + plenty of caffeine = enthusiastic "audio/visual presentations" over breakfast on local sights and activities. Fellow inn guests were just as friendly. The group this particular weekend was mostly from the south bay. One evening we ran into another couple staying at the inn at the Arena Cove Bar & Grill (just a few steps away from the CGH...another plus!) after driving back from dinner in Mendocino. We ended up sharing pints, stogies and port well into the wee hours. I would definitely come back here, and maybe next time try one of the two cottages they have on the grounds in addition to the five rooms in the main house. Holiday weekend note: The CGH can be flexible with reservation minimums. The website (which allows online reservations) says there is a three-night minimum required in order to make a reservation over a holiday weekend. For Memorial Day weekend, we actually wanted to stay at the CGH for only two nights (Friday and Saturday) and then head to Napa to stay at the Carneros Inn on Sunday night. On the previous Monday, I noticed online that there still seemed to be rooms available for the weekend. I phoned Kevin and he was agreeable to making an exception to the three-night rule and allowed us to complete our reservation for just two nights.

These seem to be from a few years ago, so they are listening and correcting. The ONE thing that irritated me, my wife and others (judging from comments at the time): They start showing a documentary before the tour (show up at least 30 minutes early). They don't finish, but you can watch it all on streaming. The irritating part is they are preparing for the tour during the documentary. Lots of us would have liked to hear, but the manager and employees were all talking (or shouting) preparations. Maybe they could do this BEFORE the documentary or OUTSIDE?? But it is definitely five stars, even with this little glitch. Check it out and help the animals!

We went on a Saturday morning in February, so the experience was peaceful, quiet, and calm. While not a whole lot of animals were out during our slot (just doing their animal thing!), we were still able to see a nice variety of species. The absolute highlight was getting to feed the giraffes at the end of the tour! They are such majestic creatures, and it was a fun, interactive activity. We finished the tour fairly quickly since many animals weren't right up against the fence that day, but it's a fantastic activity to add to your itinerary if you're spending a full day exploring the coast. Our cottage was incredibly cozy, and our days were filled with simple joys: harvesting vegetables from the garden, feeding the bunnies, collecting eggs from the chicken coop, helping shepherd the goats, and playing with the cats. There's also a beautiful beach less than a 5-minute drive away, making it the perfect balance of farm and coast. At Mar Vista, fresh eggs are delivered to your cottage every day. On our last day, we noticed every single egg in our egg basket was blue! We realized Cab or Deanna had probably hand-picked the blue eggs for us after learning that our toddler was in a phase where she loved everything blue. It was such a thoughtful gesture that meant so much to us. And who knew eggs came in so many beautiful colors? That was one of many incredible things we learned/experienced at Mar Vista. Our cozy cottage was clean with a great view of the garden and ocean. The bed is very comfortable and the provided space heater helped kept us warm at night. Only con I have to say is the pillows were very flat so we had to sleep with both pillows on top of each other for more support. I love that it had a full kitchen so you can cook delicious meals with fresh ingredients such as the daily delivered eggs straight from the chickens and greens you pick from the garden. If you want a break from cooking or want a meal prepped for when you arrive, you can add in the option of a dinner or picnic basket to your reservation as well. For the activities such as chicken chat and goat gab we weren't able to attend; it was raining pretty heavily during our stay so we opted to stay indoors and enjoy the cozy cabin. For the moments where the rain would stop, it was nice to explore the land, making stops by the bunnies and chickens with our dogs. Definitely planing on coming back! Would love to experience Mar Visita during the spring or summer!
