Rendezous is like a gem hidden amongst the many nearby corporate buildings. This place is great for lunch as not only is the average lunch very affordable but the food is made with genuine care. The greatest evidence of this is the French Fries. Generally it's not uncommon to just make large batches of fries and only make them as needed to replenish the supply. However here I have never received fries that didn't taste like they were fresh and made to order. Each of the main entries is well thought out. Even fairly basic items like a chicken sandwich is not merely cobbled together. The sauce and toppings are all paired nicely together to make a great experience. The menu seems to rotate monthly, and each month brings new dishes that make use of seasonal food items ensuring freshness and quality. I would highly recommend dropping by for lunch. read more

As a resident of Redwood Shores, I'm so thrilled to have found Rendezvous Cafe at the Sobrato Center for Non Profits. I got to speak to Campbell who took the time to explain the excellent work they do at Rendezvous. In sum they are a non profit providing training for those who have experienced difficulties in their lives and who are working to get back on their feet. Fantastic! We had avocado toast that came with a nice side salad as well as the Buddha bowl which is quinoa, faro, Kung Pao brussel sprouts and mixed greens. A cup of hot tea and coffee. Everything was fresh and tasty. The atmosphere was clean and bright. Just the kind of place to have a quiet tasty meal and perhaps do alittle reading over a cup of coffee. Though the concept is great, and the customer service has improved over the past few months, there are a lot of improvements to be made. First, the food is overpriced for the portion sizes. $6 for a tiny cup of soup is a bit absurd (it only fills up half the to-go cup they put it in). The salads are also lacking in terms of portions and options, but cost quite a bit. I don't mind spending the money if the portion size meets the cost. Second, they are consistently out of stock of items (i.e. water bottles, creamer). Third, the breakfast baked good options are minimal, and I have come across too many bagels that don't seem very fresh. The only positive about the bagels is that you get to apply the cream cheese yourself because they only offer small packets, so at least you won't be skimped on the cream cheese. I appreciate that they ask for feedback and ideas for menu options, but this is not my first choice for food in the area. read more

First, I LOVE the mission of Rendezvous, which is to train those who have experienced difficulties in their lives for success, by giving them job skills they can use in the community. I have seen the training in action, and watched the patient mentoring of a really friendly male manager. I've seen him encourage trainees, ask for excellence, and prompt them to deliver food to and briefly interact with customers. Until very very recently, I would have given Rendezvous a solid 4+, and maybe even a 5. I used to look forward to going there.... In the last few weeks the management has changed from a really friendly man primarily overseeing the training of the employees, to a not nearly as friendly lady. The prices seem to have gone up, and the quality of the food and presentation has gone down. Today, my kale salad with chicken and drink rang up at over $13. I basically get the same thing every time I go there. That's almost $2 more than the last time I was there. The price of the base salad is the same, but adding the chicken and getting a drink was more than a $5 up-charge. In principle, I don't object to paying more because I love the mission, and until recently, the food has been great. Here, it feels like they are hiding an increase with up-charges. The kale salad used to be tossed lightly with dressing and cheese, and served in a spacious bowl so the salad was easy to eat. Today, the salad was in a tiny little bowl, not tossed, with a lot of greasy dressing on top, and no cheese. It was difficult to eat without making a giant mess, and nearly impossible to distribute the dressing. I missed the cheese. The food experience was completely different. I hope they put the friendly guy back in charge. The lady manager doesn't smile, doesn't greet or connect with the customers, and doesn't seem to let the trainees talk to the customers. I guess being all business is fine, but I miss the warmth of the male manager. I plan to take a break from the Rendezvous. EDIT: I LOVE that the Rendezvous manager got back to me and let me know what was going on with the cafe. It is, after all, a non-profit and things go up and down. I am going to go back and try again! The most amazing quinoa bowl, daily specials (coconut curry, jambalaya), BURGERS (high quality meat!), avocado toast, and just regular lunch Cobb salads and things like chicken BLTs. Fresh ingredients, adorable cafe, delivery via Doordash, & GrubHub, all while fulfilling an empowering social mission. The draw here is organic, locally sourced, and a mix of "clean" nutritious meals and indulgences (burgers, fries, taco specials). The cafe is a wonderful bright airy space with lots of tables for groups and stool perches by the large windows. It's in the heart of many major businesses including near Oracle, Entertainment Arts, major law firms, lots of startups in Redwood Shores. You will probably have to drive here because of the way the industrial office parks are set up, but if you work at EA, one of the law firms or in the Sobrato Center (where the cafe is located), you're lucky enough to take a stroll to enjoy your lunch. I love it amongst the dearth of delicious healthy options in Redwood Shores. (Although I also recommend the "Falafel Tazah" spot next to Knob Hill grocers for healthy, hot and fresh although they are a one or two trick pony). Rendezvous does it all but in the forms of rotating specials (they're all sooo good you won't have a bad day when you're like "meh, the special was so-so"- they're all tasty. Love this place! Super friendly service, great food. I absolutely need to get his name next time I go but the front counter man is awesome! He makes me want to come back and is always in a good mood. Next to Refuge this is my next favorite rueben. The corned beef is sliced from a fresh cut, not deli bs. Also the sauerkraut - I am almost sure it is made fresh. I also like their tuna melts, Israeli cous (pearl cous cous), and french fries which vary from sweet potato to regular, different cuts, fry styles. Normally I need consistency, but everything Rendezvous serves is awesome so I actually look forward to what kind of fry they have that day! Have not seen waffle or curly fries yet but I bet if they had them they'd be bomb. read more

This little gem is tucked away in the Sobrato Center for Nonprofits in Redwood Shores. It's hard to see from the street, but it's there. Recently opened, they appear to serve breakfast and lunch (not sure about dinner; I doubt it). I stopped by for lunch. Menu looks great. Made to order sandwiches and salads, and hot entrees. There are also ready made sandwiches if you're in a rush. I'm having today's lunch special, 3 delicious slices of pork loin with figs. I didn't like the side that accompanied it so I asked for a salad instead. Instead of boring greens, they let me pick from the made to order salad ingredients. My lunch is delicious and the price was reasonable ($7). Lots of seating both inside and outside. Reasonable amount of parking if you have to drive here. read more

Recently discovered this place and visited twice since for lunch. They have a compact menu (which I like) and the place tends to stay low-key so it's great for a working lunch or a lunch meeting. I've had the chorizo breakfast burrito and it's turned out great every time, with a side of perfectly-crisped breakfast potatoes. The sweet potato fries are great as well. Places like these are why I appreciate Yelp - had this not popped up on my search bar for lunch, I would never know it existed, despite driving by every day. It's tucked away in the Sobrato Center for Non Profits buildings, and I expected a run of the mill office building cafe. The space is actually quite large and airy, with wooden benches and cushy armchairs sprinkled in, and makes for a nice comfortable break. I got the one-patty burger that was a good size and came with fries for under $6. They must have listened to other review that complained about the bun, because my bun was grilled and yummy! The patty had good char and flavor. The burger is supposed to come with bacon marmalade, which I didn't really taste, but it was good nonetheless. They don't have fountain drinks, but they do have a drink cooler with a small collection of "healthier" drink options, and free water that is infused with fruit (it's actually pretty good). A good spot to keep on a lunch rotation; they didn't have a special when I came, but I would like to come back and try some in the future. Thumbs up for a good cause and good food! read more

I must say it was a good size (sliced wheat, lots of egg, and lots of sausage). Prior to writing this review, I thought it would be fair I reached out to Rendezvous via email to inform them the kind of service we experienced for my daughter's 1st birthday. Unfortunately, the response we got from them was unacceptable... which is why I indicating below the issues we had for our event; "I was told by a few guests that the bartender did not want to give bottled water... instead he provided tap water. When Emily and I met she mentioned that small water bottles would be provided to our guests. I was embarrassed to hear that issue coming from family and friends. In addition, I was also told by our guests that they cleared the food around 6:30pm (and that there was still plenty of food left... my issue with this is we (my husband or I) were not informed they were going to clear out the food. We had guests who arrived late from SFO as their flight was delayed due to the rain. And when they arrived the food was cleared already! We were busy hosting the event with games and these issues were brought to our attention after the event. " Rendezvous responded stating that water bottles were not provided because I changed the menu. I informed them that was definitely not the case and gave further details of timing etc. I never heard back from them after I sent them my last response below; "The menu was already finalized before our first meeting (Feb. 15th) and that was the time you mentioned small water bottles would be provided to our guests when we went over the details of the party. Then the second time we met was on March 15th, which was to taste the short rib pasta... we went over the event details once again and you also mentioned that small water bottles would be provided to our guests. The only modification we did after meeting twice is to add the chicken fingers and mac & cheese for 12 kids, which was done via email correspondence and there were no mention of the small water bottles not being provided to our guests if we added kids menu to what we already had finalized. So I'm a bit confused as to how the water bottles can be eliminated without letting us know. This could have been easily avoided as we did not have a problem if you required us to bring our own water, but it was never mentioned to us. One of the host we hired for the kids activity was done at 6:10pm. I gave her the payment then and offered her to grab some food. I spoke to her last week, she said that the guys were already clearing up the food counter "before" 6:30pm. She had to ask one of them if she can get some food and he let her. I'm not sure what happened to the food to-go boxes you mentioned that were given to our guests because I've reached out to our guests and so far none of them took any food to go. The only boxes we were provided was for our leftover desserts. But not the food we had catered by Rendezvous. I just wish we were informed before they cleared the food counter ahead of time... at least that way, I would've set some food aside for our guests who arrived late due to weather condition flight delays. We were completely embarrassed to hear of the issue after the fact... as again, this was something that could have been easily avoided had one of your staff approached my husband or I to let us know that food was going to be cleared. We were also told by our guests there were plenty of food left, which remains a mystery to us because our party did not take any of the food to go. In regards to monitoring the guests... I remember you mentioned to me about the kids running around the halls. I immediately put a stop to that as soon as you informed me. We were unaware about guests taking alcohol outside and vaping inside the building. We would have definitely put a stop to that had my husband or I were informed, but again... we weren't. Lastly, at some point during the party, I was inside the car feeding my daughter. I saw a security approach some of our guests who were smoking outside the building. A few minutes later, one of the guests came up to me in the car to tell me the security is questioning them about the event and that it was not suppose to take place! So I came out the car and talked to him...he then told me that they were not informed of an event taking place at Rendezvous and that is why he is questioning us. I suggested to have him speak to you inside and not my guests. I also informed him that we made our payment to book this venue and I have confirmation of everything. He said he would go inside but I don't recall seeing him. That was just another embarrassment we had to deal with during the party. I never got a response after sending my last message to them indicating the details and timing. read more

We recently started using Rendezvous for catering at my company and it has been an AWESOME decision. I work for a tech company and we have some hungry engineers! The experience in the brick-and-mortar café is open, airy and clean. You seem to forget you are in an office complex when you're there! The prices are great for such phenomenal food. The catering portions are large and you get a great bang for your buck. I've worked with many restaurants for large catering orders and the care, attention and detail that goes into a Rendezvous catering order surpasses many seasoned restaurants! So great to have a place on site to get coffee or diet coke or pop chips, instead of going all the way to Nob Hill nearby. The Rendezvous café was wonderful. My turkey bacon sandwich was delicious, and the salad was very fresh. I liked the open air feel of the space, and there is plenty of light.
