This place was great! My friend's parents-in-law catered her baby shower at their home. They show up and prep the tacos and grill the meat onsite it came with everything including the corn tortillas many different salsas and all of the sides including the rice and beans. It was a very nice solution for a stress-free meal because they seem to handle almost all of the setup. They're also seem to be plenty left over for leftovers for the family to enjoy at a later time. I researched over half a dozen taco places in the South Bay to cater my husband's 40th birthday. We were expecting about 50 people. I'm a planner. Love a good spreadsheet. I did a head-to-head comparison of the top places, looking at what mains they offered, sides, salads, veggie options, drinks, etc. I noted if they included cutlery, napkins, plates, what their service window was. And then I added up the cost per head, plus estimated tax and gratuity. All of this is to say -- I did my freaking homework. Now, if you just care about the numbers, Dia de los Tacos is not the cheapest option (nor are they the most expensive). But, there's so much more to a positive experience with a caterer, isn't there? Let's review some of those factors. 1. Responsiveness: I reached out via Yelp, and they responded that morning. They continued responding to every message, every question I sent within a couple of hours. It was easy to send a deposit, and we ended up setting up the whole thing via Yelp's messages. I did have their number if I ended up needing it, but I didn't. Easy. 2. Professionalism: The day of, they were on time, arriving about 90 minutes before our time to eat. We had so much going on in the backyard for the birthday itself that we had them set up in the front of the house, which worked just fine. They brought their own tents and tables and bowls and -- everything. Plus some decor that made it feel like not your average set-up. It was wonderful. And the staff was so friendly. Really, really impressed. 3. Quality: Okay, this is the big one. Who cares about the rest if the food doesn't taste good, right? Well. Let me tell you. This food was GOOD. You know how tacos are kind of like pizza in that it's hard to have a *bad* taco, but it's rare to have a truly exceptional one too? My friends, Dia de los Tacos is that exception in exceptional. I've never gotten so many compliments on food before. Everyone was commenting on the catering. The flavors, the textures, the rice, the sides, the agua fresca (we got watermelon). Now, here's another great thing. They boxed up all the leftovers for us, without us having to ask. So my husband and I ended up getting to enjoy this deliciousness for another week plus. And we did not get sick of it!! How is that possible? Literally eating the same food every damn day for over a week. It's because it's that good. To sum up, I am BEYOND PLEASED with my decision to go with Dia de los Tacos for this milestone birthday. It was worth every penny. Do yourself a favor and just book them already. I've hired a few taco grills but by far this one is my favorite one. They are very friendly and personable, and I am extremely impressed by their professionalism. They came to the spot early for set up, and packed everything up for me when all is said and done, and I was pleased there was still so much food leftover even my guests took some plates home too. In August 2022, I was in the search for a taco caterer for my daughter's Sweet 16th in October. I started to check out some places from yelp and places we have used at my work. Dis De Los Tacos aka @brothers_tacos was a hit! I am a planner and started researching which taco catering we should use for my daughters Taco bout' 2 themed birthday party. I was given a number of recommendations from friends and reached out to them as well. I personally found @brothers_tacos and something about them just felt right - deep down although I was waiting for quotes from other vendors - I already knew I was going to hire them for my daughters birthday! I reached out to them via Instagram back in December 2022 regarding a quote for the estimated headcount I may have been expecting. I didn't solidify things that early with them because I know their price is per person. So I didn't finally book for our event until February 2023. I was in contact with Ray - and he was very honest and straight forward regarding some of the things I wanted to work with my 50 person head count. He gave me his honest feedback about not ordering too much of the aqua fresa - and I am glad I took his expertise into consideration! You can make changes up until a week of your event and that is exactly what I did. I made a lot of changes that included add-ons and adjustment to our headcount. Ray was very attentive and was just a pleasure speaking too. The day of our event, Saturday, March 18, 2023. I received a phone call from Anthony one of the brothers - who let me know Ray was doing another event but he will be taking care of my event. He let me know the time he was going to arrive and they were prompt. I personally was running late and it was a little chaotic because I was a bit behind but having them arrive and getting the food done was such a weight off my shoulder. Our event started at 1:00 pm and that is when I scheduled the food to be ready to serve (they are there for a 2 hour window - which is more than enough time) - and it was ready! It smelled wonderful and they set up everything so nicely. Anthony and his staff (please forgive me I forgot her name), were just so fun to work with - I can see myself grabbing a drink or two with them :) haha. We ordered the following things: 70 person head count for tacos 2 dozen street dogs 1 Aqua Fresca - Horchata 40-60 quesadilla's The amount we ordered was perfect for the number of people. Our head count included children under 5. We had just a bit of left over meat and rice left that they nicely packed up for me once they were finished. I booked Dia De Los Tacos at the last minute for a company event when another caterer fell through. The crappy caterer (who shall remain nameless) literally stopped responding to my messages a few weeks before our event and I was worried that my crew would start a riot and overthrow my queenship if I didn't get a replacement in time. I checked out Yelp (duh!) and found DDLT had great reviews, pictures of a nice spread and setup, and responded with a quickness. Aw, yeah! On the day of the event, Ray and the rest of the Dia De Los Tacos team arrived bright and early to get their taco and fixin's stations set up. They provided delicious agua frescas (piña, fresa, y horchata) along with rice, beans, chips, salsa, and all the taco staples necessary to make a masterpiece (salsa, crema, guac, limón, cheese, etc.) Everyone at the company raved about their yummy carne asada and flavorful (without the lard!) beans and rice. I personally had nothing but horchata in my veins by the end of the affair and I'm pretty sure it served me well. Moral of the story? When life (or a subpar caterer) throws a tomato in your face, call up someone qualified and get them to turn it into salsa. read more
