Rancho Grande - as Yelp currently has it titled - is actually called Jimenez Rancho Grande…read more This Mexican restaurant is not on the main roads going into Lovington, NM, so folks unfamiliar with this area will sorely miss out if they don't already know about it. I'll get to my CONS out of the way: - limited hours on Saturdays & Sundays (6:00 AM - 2:00 PM) - credit card fee of 3.5% and I did NOT see this posted at the register - No buffet on Saturdays - chips and salsa are NOT complimentary ($6.99) My daughters and I came here for lunch for a girls day out before Mother's Day 2026 since we were spending time with family on Sunday. My dish: Tacos a la Parilla ($14.99 for 3 soft tacos with grilled brisket, guacamole, jalapenos, onions, tomatoes) served with rice and beans. Absolutely delicious. I would get this again. My oldest daughter also had a brisket taco plate ($14.99) but the crispy variety without jalapeno or pico de gallo. My youngest daughter opted for a cheeseburger ($13.89) with fries ($2.00). If those weren't fresh hand-cut fries I would be surprised. They were yummy. Slightly crisp. Not too oily. The burger I would have eaten all by myself with its buttery fluffy buns. This is a close first place for burgers in Lovington with Lazy 6 being its competition. Their horchata was divine ($4.25 × 2). My youngest was happy with her sweet tea ($3.75). Loved the vibes inside. The ceilings and lighting fixtures were very interesting. Not overly decorated. Good Mexican music playing at a good decibel. All of the staff members we interacted with were friendly. Restrooms and parking were good. I'll be a repeat offender.

PROS + beautiful, well-maintained golf course/grounds within view of the dining room + outdoor dining is also available + super friendly, efficient bartender (she's been there every single Wednesday I come in during 2023) + decent food... comes out hot and fresh! + moderately priced + many key places are within the vicinity (see my list below) + pro shop is next door + casual dress code is okay CONS I feel like the dining area could use a makeover. Also, the last visit to the women's restroom there was no soap in the dispenser (4/26/2023). I mentioned that several key campuses and sights were nearby. Here's my short list in alphabetical order: + CORE (Center of Recreational Excellence) + Hobbs Veterans Memorial + Lovington Highway Health Walk (concrete walking path parallel to Highway 18) + McAdams Park + New Mexico Junior College + University of the Southwest + Western Heritage Museum and Lea County Cowboy Hall of Fame + Zia Park Casino Hotel & Racetrack

There is spacious outdoor seating and a small amount of indoor seating. You order right through the front door where friendly staff handed us menus so we could choose what we wanted before going to the front. Breakfast Burrito: I loved the size of this, it wasn't too big and the ingredients were well spaced and proportioned. Sausage, egg, potato, and pico with a slice of orange for plating. Coffees: Normal drip coffee that comes burning hot, kept the lid off and it stayed hot for a very long time. Breakfast Bagel: Also a good size. Same ingredients as the burrito and tasted OK. They have a counter up front with backed good, we tried a chocolate chip cookie and it was also OK, tasted better with coffee.

Just be careful as this is not what I would refer to as a pedestrian-friendly town. This place gets packed inside... A bit claustrophobic at the register. Order and pay right away inside the cafe up the stairs to the large porch. Sorry, I didn't check for a ramp or how mobile-friendly the place is, but inside it was rather crammed with minimal seats and tables. We sat outside under the large canopy. After about 5 minutes, our food was brought out to us. My youngest daughter wolfed down her relatively large bacon/cheese/egg burrito. A small iced mocha latte made her happy. My oldest girl ordered an egg bowl. She was not happy that the green chile was on the hot side. Her sister and I sometimes wonder if she's really related to us. Lol. Small hot chocolate. I opted for the special: biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were large and fluffy with really fantastic cream gravy with spicy sausage. I was in Heaven. Especially since I didn't have to clean the kitchen. My medium vanilla latte was alright. Altogether our meals came out to $43.60 with a tip included on 10.4.2025.
