I have been going to Dr. Cotter for 10 years, so this review is way overdue! I can't believe some of the negative reviews & comments - which is why I feel I need to add my experience with this office. Dr. Cotter has always been very good with all my questions, never rushed, and I feel like I'm valued as her patient. She's caring and kind, and her office staff is also very pleasant. Dr. Cotter had seen me through my infertility issues, and was a great supporter through it all. I have also seen the nurse practitioner Deborah, who is just as amazing and kind. There are times when the wait runs a little long, but this is usually due to patients being late to their appointments, and then backing the entire day. However, the waits have never been out of the ordinary for any doctor's office. I always recommend Dr. Cotter whenever anyone is looking for a great gynecologist! read more

I have been to many gynecologist over the years and hands-down Dr. Cotter is the best. She is knowledgeable, highly skilled and has a wonderful and kind manner. I also find all of her staff including Leslie, Amy and Maria, very helpful, nice and responsive. They are always able to fit me in when it is urgent, or if it's not, speak to Dr. Cotter or the nurse practitioner Deborah who also is terrific, to answer my question and get back to me usually same day. And, my daughter, who is 18 and afraid to have her blood drawn ,will only let Amy, who is upbeat and personable, draw her blood. Thank you all!!! read more

A few months ago I asked a close friend if she liked her gynecologist as I was looking to make a change. My friend highly recommended Renee Cotter's practice and referred me to her nurse practitioner, Deborah Turturro, whom she stated was the most caring and professional nurse practitioner she had seen; who also spent quality time with her, was very caring and extremely professional. Dr. C. is very nice, but after asking (2 separate times) if they are "contracted providers" with my plan and told "yes", it is very frustrating that I received a huge bill, only to be told they are not specifically providers with my PPO. I feel I was mis-lead when told they were, by the person that made my initial appointment, and from the front desk lady when I arrived. Ughhh! read more

This doctors office is incredibly unorganized and makes you wait over an hour after your appointment time until you are even taken back. The people who work in the front desk are incredibly rude and lie to you about your wait time. Avoid this doctors office if you value your time! read more

This is the first bad review I've ever written. Feel free to check all my other reviews. This is a warning to any new client of this doctor. Although she was fine when I had my appointment, I was told they accepted my insurance. I have a Gold PPO with Anthem Blue Shield and costs me $1,800.00 per month. After my appointment, I started getting billed. I then called the docs office and was told they didn't accept my insurance. On the call, I was told they did not know who told me that, but I actually gave them a copy of my insurance before the appointment. Why didn't't Someone say something then? After leaving messages and putting in a dispute explaining what happened, they put me into collections. This is just wrong. They could've apologized that I was given the wrong info and either given me a break on the bill or at least called me back to discuss. But obviously we are just a number and disregarded when there is a miscommunication by their staff. With the many gyno's In my area, I obviously would've went to someone else if I knew they didn't accept my insurance. My gyro retired or I would've stayed with him. So my warning to all new patients, is make sure they really do accept your insurance before seeing this doctor. I honestly think it wouldn't have been difficult to take care of this if they had any integrity! read more

As a new patient, I had a very good experience with the nurse practitioner. My concerns were well addressed and she was very caring. However the office manager verbally assaulted me in her office. I was over charged $30 on my co pay and when I brought in Insurance Statement Of Benefits document to show that I had been overcharged, I had the papers thrown in my face as the office manager stormed out of her office yelling at me to "GET OUT" of her office I have NEVER experienced such unprofessional behavior at any business let alone a Dr office. I was shocked. I spoke to Dr Cotter about the situation, she promised to resolve it but I never heard back. My credit card company had to cancel my credit card to prevent any further erroneous billing by DR Cotters office. I have been credited the $30 through my credit card company after requesting a dispute. I plan to find another Dr. It is too bad the office manager didn't choose to resolve a simple payment issue in a different manner. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Cotters for 8 years. I chose Dr. Cotter because of her reputation as a surgeon. Over the years the consistent trait I can comment on is her patience. She answers all my questions and makes sure I feel confident in whichever medical decision is made. The office may run a little late at times. However, when you are the one with a medical emergency and Dr. Cotter takes the extra 10 minutes with you, the next time you need to wait it is not a problem. She is worth it. Both Dr. Renee and Deborah are extremely knowledgeable and caring. Dr. Renee is a top surgeon - she helped both me and my mother - and, she stays up-to-date with the latest technology and medical procedures to keep women safe. Deborah is also very experienced and was able to diagnose a condition I had when Dr. Renee was handling an emergency surgery. If you end up waiting a bit for your appointment, it's because they give each patient the time necessary to hear her story, evaluate her condition, and prescribe treatment. I travel from Orange County to their office, because I trust them with my health and well-being. And, the office staff is wonderful, too! read more

When I called for my appointment and they told me she had left I was not happy that my daughter, my best friend nor I was told. I am so upset she is no longer at this office. I'm a healthcare professional myself, and I care deeply for the well being of my patients. I was referred to Dr. Cotter by two of my patients. My physician sent the results of my ultrasound to Dr. Cotter, and told me to make an appointment with her ASAP. He said that I have a large cyst in my ovary. I called Dr. Cotter's office in early March, and they said the first available appointment would be in mid April. I made an appointment, but a week later I began having excruciating pain!! I called their office to see if I could get in right away to see Dr Cotter, but the receptionist said that I had to wait until my mid April appointment! They had nothing available for me!! She said I could see the PA in a week! Meanwhile the pain was unbearable!!! I told her that I was going to have to find a new doctor and I hung up the phone! I work with three different doctors, and we set aside time for emergencies everyday!! I called another dr. And they gave me an appointment right away, and it turns out that I have to have surgery right away to remove a 6cm cyst!!! I wonder if dr cotter even took the time to look at my ultrasound? I doubt it, because if she had she would have seem me right away... read more

At first I really liked Dr Cotter. She was easy to speak with, seemed to genuinely care and be concerned about you, but that opinion changed quickly. The first time I went to see Dr Cotter she had me go for a bone density test and mammogram. A few days later I got the results of both tests. At the time I was told I had osteopenia of the hip and to just take calcium, with nothing to be overly concerned about. Moving forward to my annual the following year, Dr. Cotter walked into the exam room while reading my charts, the first thing out of her mouth was "what is with this Osteoporosis in your spine." Needless to say, I was dumbfounded, blind sided and felt like I had been hit by a truck. Never, ever was I told that I had Osteoporosis, nor was I treated for it. So, for 1 year my condition was left untreated. As a patient, we rely on a doctor to keep us informed and made aware of any issues that we might have. If she were the only OB/GYN in town, I would go elsewhere!! read more

I've been seeing Dr. Cotter for several years now, and she came as a referral from a dear, trusted friend. I put an email out about her to my friends, once I was confident enough to refer her myself, and several of my friends had either seen her in the past but now needed someone who was delivering babies, or they were currently seeing her, as they were no longer having kids. They all raved about her, as I do. I find her and the staff to be extremely considerate (gave me samples of some of my meds to save me a bit of money), professional (reviewed all my meds & updated my current medical history) and thoughtful, (offering to call in a prescription for me so that it would be ready when I got to the pharmacy). Most important, I trust Dr. Cotter. She's warm, caring, thorough, and answers all questions in detail. I never feel rushed. Even though she's not as local as I would like, it's worth the trip 1-2 times a year to feel that I'm in good hands. read more
