I had two dental implants placed last August, but they fell out within days. I reached out to the office immediately, only to be informed that the doctor was on vacation in Italy and that I would have to wait until his return. When I requested to see another doctor, I was told I would have to wait two weeks for the original doctor to come back. Despite making several requests to be seen sooner, I was repeatedly told that I had to wait. During this two-week period, I suffered without care, and it felt like my well-being didn't matter to them. I endured over two weeks of discomfort, including bleeding and aching gums. I poke to them over the phone and they were very accommodating and and got me an appointment for my cleaning that was due that was only a week away. The Hygienist Jada that did my cleaning was the best I'd ever had. She didn't make me go ouch once. I'm not sure that has ever happened. The Dentist came in and introduced himself and we talked about the possible need for a Crown on a tooth that the prev dentist told me was needed. He said that it doesn't need it right away and suggested I wait until my next cleaning and we can evaluate it again then. I did get a bill for $20 a couple weeks later though, but I happily paid it. I don't mind paying a few extra $ for a good dentist. My teeth and not having pain are far more important.

All four members of my household have had disappointing or outright terrible experiences here. What is most concerning is how many glowing reviews exist, because our experience has been the complete opposite. It genuinely makes me question how accurate those positive reviews are. My own situation has been ongoing and extremely frustrating. In December 2025, Dr. Scott Pearl told me I had "baby cavities" and recommended filling them to prevent progression. I had no pain at all before those fillings. Immediately afterward, I developed severe dental pain that has only worsened over time. I returned for a follow up and was told everything looked fine, despite the fact that I was in significant pain. Now I am dealing with daily, persistent discomfort. To make matters worse, I have since lost my dental insurance, so I am stuck suffering until my new coverage begins. This entire situation was created by a procedure that I now strongly believe was unnecessary. This was not an isolated incident. About a year earlier, my husband and I were both convinced to get crowns. This had never once been recommended by our previous dentist. Since those crowns were placed, I have continued to experience sensitivity in those teeth. Looking back, I deeply regret agreeing to those procedures. My son's experience was just as concerning. He had fillings done for "baby cavities" and developed severe pain afterward. One of his fillings even fell out. Although it was replaced, he continues to have discomfort. Beyond the clinical issues, the billing practices are equally troubling. We were repeatedly reassured that our insurance would cover these procedures, even though we could not find Pearl Dental in network. We specifically asked multiple times. Despite those assurances, I am still receiving bills from procedures done two years ago. This raises serious concerns about transparency and whether proper insurance verification is being done at all. At this point, I fully expect to receive additional bills for the December 2025 procedures as well. Yes, the staff is friendly. But that does not make up for what feels like unnecessary dental work, poor outcomes, and misleading information about insurance coverage. I would never recommend this practice to anyone. I regret ever going here. I am counting down the days until my new dental insurance starts so I can have this work properly evaluated and corrected.

So while my mouth was (and still is slightly??) sore from my visit, I really liked the staff here in addition to Dr. Dow. The woman I spoke to on the phone was incredibly pleasant as was the woman (could have been the same woman) who checked me in. Check-in was a piece of cake and then I endured torture (self-induced) with Megan through no fault of her own. I warned her I'm a baby and difficult and she did her best to not murder my mouth but it is what it is. I think she was relieved to get me out of her chair but she did a very nice job and tried sparing me as best she could. She was patient! Dr. Dow came in about halfway through and was very sweet and told me I now have a dental home here, which was a comforting thing to say. I hadn't really settled on a dentist since I was a kid and always saw the same one. I liked the technology here as well - they have a TV screen mounted up on the wall so you can see your x-rays and other pictures they take as they go through - this makes it easy to point out any issues or signs of plaque, decay, fillings, etc. (At first I was worried about a GIANT white dot only to find out it was a previous filling, not a giant cavity). I think I read a google review about how awful the music was (which made me laugh) and I assure you, the music playing there was fine. Overall, while I need to get better about my dental visits, I would highly recommend this dental practice.

After the consultation was done, I received a call from MA saying that I had a fee to pay before finishing the dental work that had already started while having an infection and no meds were prescribed. I was tricked, and the office would not honor the mistake they made. The insurance company told me to appeal, and it was denied. Luckily, with the graces of God, there are other brilliant endodontist and dentists who helped me and saved my life.Long story short, Dr. Hohomand no longer works there and has retired in 2021. New Dr. Sato does not accept a few different insurances. Check with your insurance beforehand and really make sure they take your dental insurance. Before you are left toothless with a huge bill.
