Dr.Kelly and her staff are wonderful. This was my first full skin exam and the whole process was very comfortable and educational. I'm impressed with how thorough the exam was. Dr.Kelly developed a proactive plan for me moving forward and educated me on how high country living can be very risky in terms of skin cancer. I first met Kelly at the 9 News Health Fair several years ago where she was performing cancer screening examinations for the event. I have since visited Kelly at her Frisco office for several years now. She makes the uncomfortable process of Cryotherapy much more pleasant with her sweet personality and ease of conversation. Kelly has been taking care of my skin since she opened her amazing practice. I wouldn't trust my skin to anyone else. She has the best bed side manner. She truly cares about her patients. I've tried other places in the past and they don't even come close to Kelly. She listens to my concerns and has made my skin amazing. If this rating were purely rating Kelly, it would be 5 stars! However this rating is based on a very frustrating office experience associated with an appointment. I live in Frisco and have been going to renew dermatology for some time and Kelly is fantastic at what she does.. with that being said some suggested room for improvement around policy and procedure in the day of COVID and changing CDC guidelines... I had a morning appoint to have some spots removed from my hand and when I arrived I was asked if I had a mask... my car was being worked on and I did not have a mask on me unfortunately! The front desk clerk informed me which per CDC guidelines it was now a requirement... while I know CDC requirements are constantly changing I just did not think of it when I left the house. The front desk clerk had no options for me so I was forced to cancel my appointment which was pretty frustrating... if she had just had a box of masks on hand, I would have gladly paid for one! While the office did call the day before to remind me of the appointment, no curtesy notice of a mask was mentioned... and nothing is noted on their website! Both my dentist and vet have them on hand for folks who need them and can't imagine I am the only individual to not think to grab one when heading to a medical appointment... while I certainly do not expect businesses to absorb this cost and would gladly pay for a mask, I would hope the front desk manager would assist me with determining options.. but no options were presented.. instead it was just a statement on what the CDC requires... so now I will need to find other options for this appointment and will inquire with businesses going forward if they have masks on hand for me to purchase in the event I forget my mask so I am not forced to cancel an appoint after taking time off work to make it happen! Frustrating to say the least... hoping folks can find ways to work together as we continue to navigate this new reality... sometimes people forget their masks and that is a reality and a big improvement would be to determine how we can help when someone finds themselves in that type of situation! read more

The staff seems great and Kelly seems knowledgeable (although not a certified Dermatologist) but I was not informed before my appointment that they do not submit insurance on the patient's behalf and that it is the patient's responsibility. I was in a gown and on the table before this was mentioned. Now three months later, I'm still dealing and fighting with my insurance to get a claim processed. I have canceled my followup appointments at Renew and, unfortunately, will likely not return. read more

I was a first timer at Renew and was favorably impressed by their professionalism and thoroughness. I was able to make an appointment the same day and received great treatment. Kelly explained what she found as well as what she didn't find. I switched dermatologists because I wasn't happy with who I went to before Renew. I will definitely be going back. read more

This review is more in regards to the receptionist & client service I received than the consultation with Kelly. I went in for a Botox consultation with Kelly that was fine, it was high level and Kelly was perfectly friendly and helpful. Took the time to answer all my questions and explain things. I was charged $50 for the consultation and was told it would go towards the cost of the Botox if I chose to do so. We scheduled an appointment that day to come back for Botox. On the morning of my next appointment, I called and said that I had changed my mind and no longer wanted to move forward with the Botox. The receptionist told me "no problem" and that she would go ahead and cancel the appointment. Everything seemed fine until a few days later I received a $100 cancellation fee on my credit card. When I called to discuss, the receptionist knew exactly who I was before I even stated my name (aka she was expecting it) and went on to be so rude to me and basically force feeding candid responses down my throat. When I told her I wasn't aware that cancelling the appointment that day would result in $100 she said she wasn't aware I needed that much "hand holding". I would have come into the office to avoid being charged such a ridiculous late fee but she said nothing to me on the phone about it and cited our prior conversations from weeks prior when I had to cancel appointments due to work. Yes, she had mentioned the cancellation policy to me originally and told me there was a late fee charged after 3 times. However, conveniently failed to mention it to me this time and also never mentioned that this would be considered a "late cancellation". Again, it was her that proposed cancelling the appointment, not me. Just beware, she seemed out to get me and my money and not at all like someone who cares about people. read more

Do you like having black eyes (like you just got punched)? If so, see Kelly Ballou. If I could have chosen negative stars, I would. First, let me say I have had Botox about 75 times over the course of 16+ years. I have had the injections in different states by different types of practitioners (nurses and doctors) and I used to work at a dermatology office. Have I had bruising before? Yes. It was minimal and occurred maybe 15% of the total times that I've had injections. I was concerned when I went to Kelly Ballou, P.A. because I had not heard favorable things but, I was willing to give her try and decide for myself. When I called they told my they had a special offer that week only, which brought the usual cost of $12 per unit down to just under $10 per unit. When I got there they made me fill out medical forms including asking for my insurance card (which Botox has NOTHING to do with) and it is not covered by insurance. Then when I got into the room with her she was friendly but her injection style is very aggressive. Usually, the practitioner's will say "little poke" she was like "1,2,3" then a JAB! As soon as she was done she said, "you've got a bruise". I wasn't too concerned (as I mentioned I've had one or two very small bruises before). When she help up the mirror I was horrified! I had the start of a serious black eye (full on "shiner"). I told her that had never happened before. Her response, "As you get older your blood vessels are closer to the surface." I'm in my 40's and had my last injection three months ago and this didn't happen! When I went to check out the front desk girl was literally crying. No kidding; tears. I have no idea what was going on but she was upset about something. Then I was not given the discount I was promised on the phone. I was told "that only applies to products". They gave me a hard time about my discount from "Brilliant Distinctions" the Botox points program. I asked for my receipt to be emailed to me to see what they charged me for but it only showed a lump sum (no itemization). When I got home I realized I didn't just have one black eye, but two. The other one was not as severe but looked like a dark shadow. I look like hell! I will NEVER go back to that awful place. Buyer's BEWARE! read more
