BEWARE OF THIS AUCTION HOUSE! In August, 2017, we took a van…read moreload of items to Palm City Auction, to be included in their next auction. We were told that the they were going on vacation, and that our things would be stored in the corner of their 'warehouse' until the next auction. I was surprised at a comment made at the time and after only looking in one box while being unloaded. 'I'm only taking this stuff because I want the good stuff later.' Well, the stuff to which he was referring were wonderful smalls, having closed down two booths in an antique mall soon before. I have been in the antique business many years, having had several shops and going to the U.K to fill containers and to search for the unusual. Granted, the things left with them, were not your usual 'high-end', but nice none-the-less. To make a long story, short. We got a call from the auction house the next day after the auction, telling us that the antique, cane bottom, ladder back chairs did not sell. I then told the office person who called, that we would pick them up the same week. We drove over an hour to do that, to find that they only had five of the six chairs. The story that we got, was that the thrift store had picked up the missing chair. We drove to the thrift store to reclaim the chair, only to be told, that no such thing had happened! While sitting in the parking lot of the thrift store, we call the auction house and told them of this. The lady answering the phone, was extremely rude, saying 'Well, they didn't sell, so they couldn't have been worth much, then promptly hung up on my husband.' We then drove back to the auction house to hunt for the chair, which was not there. But what was there, were some of the items we had left for the auction, sitting in the back room....? They never made it to auction. Upon receiving the listing of things 'sold' there were two box lots, one for $10.00, one for $8.00. I have been around antiques all of my life. I know the value of things, as well as the cyclical values that have taken place over time. I am an honest person, thus this soon become an ethical issue for me rather than financial. There is more to the story, but suffice it to say, we should have heeded the warning others had given us about this Auction House. I tend to be a trusting person, but this particular situation reminded me, that not all people in this world are trustworthy! Please know that what I have just written is true and factual!

Paula ensured…read morethat it would be no issue. 2 days later I called again after the auction to ask for the invoice for the lots as they sold way below my absentee bids. She claimed that by accident they didn't register my bids and that they sold to someone else. Do not leave absentee bids with this company as they are not organized at all to handle them. Use LiveAuctioneers if you must be on their sale as their own system is terrible.

I have purchased from them many times and in every case the transaction was flawless with Doug and his staff going out of their way to help and serve. These are folks of very high integrity who operate a well run auction business. If you're selling, they have the ability to reach an enormous pool of buyers. I've left several Google reviews for various businesses, and every review I have ever left has been…read morefive stars. This is the first one-star review I have ever felt strongly enough to leave. In fact, I waited before posting this because I wanted to give this business every opportunity to make things right. My 86-year-old father brought a chair here to consign in October 2025. The chair sold, but he has still never been paid his $375. When we initially went into the store simply trying to find out what had happened to his payment, the sales associate was snarky and unfriendly. We understood that she didn't handle accounting and couldn't personally resolve the issue, but we certainly didn't expect to be treated that way for simply asking where his money was. I subsequently contacted their accounting department. On May 28, I was told in writing that a $375 check had been mailed February 2. When I asked for the check number, I was initially given check #18852 for $349. I immediately questioned the discrepancy. They apologized and explained that they had responded with someone else's information. After I provided my father's information again, they identified his payment as check #2213 for $375. On May 29, accounting confirmed in writing that they had reviewed their bank records and that my father's check had never cleared their account. They told me they had requested a replacement check and would notify me once it was processed and mailed. They also asked me to reconfirm his mailing address, which I did immediately. I assumed the matter was finally resolved. It wasn't. When I followed up again in August because my father STILL had not received his money, I was told on August 10 that they would notify me "as soon as" his check was mailed. Ten days later, after yet another follow-up, I received essentially the same response: they will update me when the check mails. So, nearly three months after acknowledging that the original check never cleared and requesting a replacement, the replacement apparently STILL HAS NOT BEEN MAILED. At this point, this cannot reasonably be blamed on a lost piece of mail. They have sold my father's property, acknowledged that he has not received or cashed the payment, confirmed his mailing address, promised a replacement, and nearly three months later still have not sent it. After experiencing this, I looked more closely at the reviews and found numerous one-star reviews from other consignors describing problems getting paid. I truly wish we had read those reviews before my father entrusted his furniture to this business. I am posting this review only after repeatedly attempting to resolve this directly with the business. I will absolutely update it to reflect what happens next -- including if and when my father finally receives the $375 he is owed. Until then, I cannot recommend consigning anything here. If you are considering doing so, I strongly encourage you to read the other one-star reviews first. I wish we had!
