Reno Air Racing Association host an awesome show! Yeah, it's a flipping 5-STAR! I always like coming to this event every year and having a great time there. Seeing all these amazing machines just makes you feel awesome. So they have a military display area where you can check out military air planes and go inside to check them out. It is pretty cool to check them out and talk to the pilots and crew. Over by the stands they have boots selling hats, trinkets, Reno Air Races swag, t-shirts, food, sodas, drinks and so much more. It's event like these that make me feel great about being an American. I know cheese ball as hell but I really do feel good about the amount of military support at these events. I know when people thank veterans for their service some veterans just feel a bit off put by it. But it is said because most people don't know what else to say for the things we saw and experienced in the military. To my experience it was horrific, disturbing, and forever ingrained in my mind. I'm sure most veterans who have seen the horrors of war would like to forget it but it is simple a bad experience to say the least. But I diverge, for the people who are thankful towards veterans and host events like this I really do appreciate it. Well, parking is not the best for this event. It also depends on when you go. On Friday or Saturday is gets pretty crazy with the parking. There is no real way to get around getting parking here. But if you get past this parking craziness it will be worth it. It is a great event to go to. Bring your family, kids, a date, etc. there is fun for everyone. Oh I forgot to add about the military display you can take pictures and hangout in the planes. I just think that is cool. Anyways, thanks for reading my review.

I've been working alongside the great crews at the Reno Air Racing Association in different capacities since the mid 90s. There have been some great times here, and obviously some difficult times. Overall, the experience changes each year, and has evolved over the course of the years. Logistically, this is a major undertaking to produce and relies heavily on it's sponsors, vendors, volunteers and paid staff. This is a fascinating show for propeller-heads and gear-heads alike! The machines are amazing pieces of art. Each static display is painstakingly cared for and detailed for the show. It is neat to see the smiles on kids and adult faces alike. The racing is exhilarating to watch as you hear and feel the roar as the planes pass a hundred feet off the deck! There is a lot to do and see and is a large part of Reno's special event portfolio.

I have been going to the air races for about 15 years now. I have seen quite a bit of change since the crash awhile back. There are way less unlimited airplanes, and the attendance is down. From what I heard the insurance cost for the pilots is astronomical. We went on a Thursday and there was not even a unlimited race because there was not enough planed. In years past there was a lot of entertainment, both military and civilian. It seems like that has gone by the wayside, with just a couple of performers. The Blue Angels did fly and were very cool. They are so precise with there maneuvers. They did have sport class racing, bi plane racing, jet class racing and T6 racing. Everybody comes to see the big boys race, P51 and the bearcat race. Not seeing them was disappointing. Overall it was a fun day, great family entertainment. I will be back next year.

    Beautiful day for RACING!!!

I've volunteered at their races with family and friends as well as participated in almost all of them over the years since DSA started. The events that are part of their Las Vegas schedule throughout the year: -4th of July 5K Blast -Las Vegas Wobble Before You Gobble 5K -Pilgrims Rock 5K/10K/Half Marathon, now know as the Dirty Bird for 2016 -Summerlin Half Marathon -Las Vegas Wildland Fire Awareness 5K and Half Marathon -Skye Canyon 8K Trail Mix/5K Road This company is run by ultramarathoner Molly Sheridan and her family of runners, so you should feel confident that DSA events are well-organized and created from experience. Their events are for all levels, as well, from the beginner to the experienced ultra-runner. Never feel like you're too slow or aren't a "runner;" DSA events are walker-friendly. From her own experience of racing, Ms. Sheridan knows what participants want and need in events and Desert Sky Adventures caters to those, from goodie bags with race t-shirts, stocked aid stations along the courses with plenty of volunteers, to cool finisher medals, your walk/run experience at one of their events will be a fun one. Spartan races are known for being extremely challenging whether you're running a sprint, super, or…read morebeast race but the World Championship event in Lake Tahoe takes it up to another level...... literally since the location starts over 4000 ft of elevation. The course is designed to push the limits of the elite athletes that earned the chance to compete for the world championship by placing in the top 5 of other elite races throughout the year. With a course that's tough for the best of the best you can imagine how brutal it was for us regular folks. The first 7 miles was pretty much all up hill, then another brutal 2 mile incline toward the last 4 miles of the course. I said to myself during and after the race that I wouldn't attempt to do this race again, but as time goes on I'll probably forget how exhausted I was and end up coming back next year to chase another trifecta. Even though this was longer that a typical beast (16.5 miles instead of 12-14) most of the mud & water obstacles were at the beginning part of the course so by the end of the race you're pretty much dried off & don't need to rinse off as much as you do at other Spartan races. Parking ended up being free for once & the shower/changing area were actually on a paved area so you aren't changing on a dirt floor for once.

PROS: CHALLENGING - If you sign up for Spartan you are looking for a challenge, this race is one of the most challenging! RACE VIEWS - 6+ obstacles you could watch near the festival. Also Air tram will take you up the mountain to for gorgeous views and more obstacles (2019 it was not running due to weather) ACTIVITIES/BOOTHS - Fun athletic competitions for prizes and many booths offering samples and information on products. ORGANIZED - Clear where to go and lots of people happy to help. Even parking was easy and free. SAFE - Saw a lot of safety precautions and staff around SHOPS - Surrounded by stores (with sales for event), lots of places to eat and grab coffee. COFFEE - multiple coffee shops, one over looking the race events so you can sit out side and watch the Spartan Race with your coffee. VIEWS - Beautiful views, even as a spectator you can enjoy walking around all day. CONS: WEATHER - no real complaints about the event, weather is out of the events control, however it was very unfortunate many racers got kicked off the course due to near by lightening and some of the obstacles where shut down when the race reopened. Still a great event, but good to keep in mind weather could be an issue.

This is the first year that I've attended the race and hosted a table with my business as a sponsor. They mentioned the event would go on, rain or shine, but I was really hoping that we wouldn't have to go through the rain part. Unfortunately, it did rain - and pour rain - during most of the event. When I arrived at 5:40 a.m. to set up my table, I was amazed to see people already on site prepping for the day. Every sponsor table was under a makeshift canopy/tent, but my table was still wet from the rain throughout the night. Thankfully, the event organizers were not only delightfully happy to see me, but bent over backward to get me anything I needed. And while they didn't have the foresight to bring towels to wipe the tables down, they did offer me an event shirt to use, which I ended up taking home to commemorate the event, even though one wasn't supposed to come with our sponsor package. As the day wore on toward 7 a.m. and later, more and more people started to arrive and linger around. The sponsor email said to expect ~3,500 people (~4,000 with family and friends), and it looked to be about that many people who showed up. The event organizers planned wonderfully with the city to make sure adequate police and security protection was on sight from set up the day before throughout the night to the next day, so that runners were able to make it through the downtown area to the start line without traffic disturbances, as the procession led down several city blocks to Idlewild park. The finish line was beautifully designed and hosted by Renown Health, and came complete with swag, food, and drink to replenish the runners as they arrived. I'm unsure of how much of the money raised actually goes to the cost of research, as compared to the cost of administration. I know the goal for the event was to raise $200,000, and I think they raised less than $100,000, but Susan Komen's Race for the Cure is a widely known and marketed event that is supposed to bring a lot of people together through fundraising efforts to raise money for research and awareness of the effort to beat cancer. Overall, I'd say this event was a huge success, and I look forward to hopefully running in the next one, in addition to being a repeat sponsor.

Wednesday is half priced bar drinks, and while their prices are already low, the Wednesday deal is a steal! We ordered several classes of chardonnay, beer, a few shots of tequila, the burger sliders and wings. For a Wednesday night, it is pretty dead, which meant we had the arcade to ourselves and a very attentive waiter. Every round of drinks came out fast, and our food did not take much longer than that. The burger sliders were just that, sliders, but the sauced and dry rubbed wings were great! The rest of our party ordered the pretzel board, pizza, and more wings, which were seemingly good. My friend wanted to play Duckpin bowling, but it was $35 an hour for up to 6 people. Lucky we asked the bartender if we could pay for it at the bar and she talked to the bar manager and he said sure! It's only $3 a game per person! Now we're talking! We had 4 people and one game each was perfect for $12. You don't need bowling shoes, there is barely an approach. It was super fun! They had many specials such as street tacos $3, Modelo draft beer $4 and Margaritas $5. We had the Supreme flatbread for $14 and it was good. My Friend ordered the charcuterie board for $24. I really loved the sausage and the display was presented in a giant pretzel. I love the couches for trivia so nice and comfortable! The staff preferred not to have a photo so I respected their wishes. The building is huge with no one In it, which makes me sad!
