RRF 2024: shaded area at MAIN STAGE

Had been looking forward to the Reno River Festival (RRF) since it started popping into my social media feed weeks ago. The promo of band and musical reveals was fun to anticipate. Thanks to "The STUDIO" for offering yoga in the park this lovely warm Friday morning (also will be offered on Saturday and Sunday mornings). Originally was stage side with the music acts but because of sound check, we relocated to a shady area on the other side. It was nice to see the vendors still setting up before the crowd started. Was able to see all the always yummy food offerings: lemonade, bbq, adult beverages, funnel cake etc etc. Enjoying the amplified country music playing keeping the vibes upbeat. $10 admission for all three days but if you participate for yoga with THE STUDIO, entry is complimentary. (Thank you!) The river is running at a fast pace (to me) but with the warm temps, I am tempted to at least dip my toes into the water.

We love the Reno River Festival. We've gone for the last three years and for the last two years

My upbringing in Central California, I have endured the sizzling heat of festivals. Being a recent transplant to Nevada; I was fascinated by the pure fun of this festival. What makes this festival shine amongst any other festival I attended was the Truckee River within Downtown Reno and the citizens of Washoe County. This festival is an ideal location to enjoy nature while enjoying the tasty treats from local vendors and out-of-town vendors. My family and I love this event and I will be volunteering next year to do my part within this community.

What a fun event! I moved here last august, so i am super excited to get to experience all of the events now that things are opening back up! On a nice & warm Saturday, it was nice to walk around, look at different shops, grab some food & drinks and hang out. When it got too hot, we went and put our feet in the river, before checking out some of the live musicians. There was a lot to do for people of all ages - all the kids seemed happy with the rides and glitter tattoos, while the adults had plenty of options to shop, try some beers, & relax in the shade by the stage. A great start to summer festivals in Reno!!

This was my first time back at RiverFest in a few years and it was a wonderful time overall! I originally had stopped going due to an entrance fee being charged and at the time, the actual river events had stopped so I didn't really see the point. This year I attended with my mother and was pleasantly surprised at the experience we had! The attendance fee really isn't a deterrent and I wouldn't mind paying it again as the event itself has hardly changed and is a great time for the whole family to enjoy! The spot to purchase your wristband/entrance weren't very clearly marked, so some signs would be helpful! Once inside the event, it is easy to navigate between vendors. When we entered we were greeted with a ton of food trucks directly in front of us that provided a large number of options to choose from. In the first part of the day, there aren't many lines so you don't have too wait too long in the heat. On the right side are all of the art/crafts vendors which are pretty shaded and fun to walk through, you can definitely see the local love! To the left of the entrance is where they have the main stage and a few activities for the kids as well as some alcohol for purchase. When we arrived, we were looking forward to the band that was scheduled to play at 11am. While we waited we learned that the band performing their sound check was for the later performance that evening - they had been doing their sound check since 9:45 and gave the 11am band only 5 minutes for a sound check before their set. That was a little bit ridiculous and unfair in my opinion. The 11am band sounded great despite the sound check issues. Overall it was a great day and I look forward to going again in the future!

2018 Reno River Festival was fun and amazing. This is a yearly event and signals to me that summer is right around the corner. I went on Mother's Day, Sunday after an amazing brunch. Weather was fine in the morning, with some showers in the afternoon. Made for a nice stroll along the Truckee River. Music was great, catchy contemporary tunes for a 60 something like me. "Carni food" along Arlington, and a nice Crafters Village along the other side of Truckee River. I was not there long enough to see the competition, but long enough to have a relaxing morning, nice walk and experience our unique mountain and river people. Loved it!

Food, drinks, music, and tons of activities; I present to you the Reno River Festival! 2019's Reno River Festival was held during Mother's Day Weekend on Saturday May 11, 2019 through Sunday May 12, 2019. My friends and I went on Saturday and we had an absolute blast. Traffic and parking could be tricky, especially since it was held at Wingfield Park. Fortunately for us, we drove down to our friend's house just a few blocks away from the event and walked down from there. It was far enough to where there was street parking and close enough to where the walk was easy and enjoyable. For those of you who do drive, there is the City Garage as well as the casino garages. Since it's all in Downtown Reno, the walk will be short and sweet. This was my first time attending the Reno River Festival, but as I said before, it was a great time. The weather was sunny without a single cloud in the sky. The streets were filled with local vendors, food trucks, and festival goers alike. After grabbing some beers and a plate from Koko Teriyaki, we headed towards the river and found a spot under some shade. There was a lot of activities for the kids which included carnival games, rides, bouncy houses and even a zip line across the river! The music and entertainment on their main stage was fun and lively. My room mate said that she wanted to see the headliner that day, which was Filmore. While they watched his performance, my friend and I decided to observe the kayaking event. As you know, the Truckee River is definitely flowing with force and watching those kayakers kept me on the edge of my seat. It was so great to see the park filled and lively. It was also dog friendly with people and their K9 companions maneuvering through the festival grounds. And the best part of this event was that it didn't cost anything to attend. The Reno River Festival had so much to offer, so much to see and so much to do. There's nothing like enjoying live music right along the rapidly flowing Truckee River. Plus, this event is both pet and family friendly so what's not to love? Although this was my first time attending, I am very much looking forward to next year's festival!

Such an incredible event! A little something for everyone. Carnival, rides, wine, beer, food trucks, live music, and more! Such a great way to spend a day by the river!

The Reno River Festival is a lot of fun but this year it rained which was a bit of a bummer. The festival includes a bunch of vendors selling food, beer, wine, clothing, housewares, etc. There are a couple of rides for kids but the best part is watching the kayak tournament! Lots of fun for everyone.

Minus a star- because we used to be able to park in the garage area- but now it's for high players and & $20.. Lucked out, and parked in the other lot near the freeway. Shocked that we were able to get free VIP tent tickets- ( rarely visit in the area).. how could I say no.. My youngest wasn't able to attend, so I sacrificed and enjoyed AYCE ribs.. I was set on visiting the other vendors to take some ribs home, but I ate too many-.. Rain stopped and enjoyed the festival ! Looking forward to another year..

The rib cook-off is definitely worth going to at least once, but honestly how many ribs can one eat?? It almost should be called a BBQ sauce smackdown rather than rib cook-off because seems like the sauce is the star nowadays. The ribs itself were ok. It was lacking the smokiness, some were hit or miss, being dry or not fall-off-the-bone tender, or were slathered in so much sweet BBQ sauce that you couldn't even taste the meat. - The juiciest ribs were from Aussom Aussie. - Butch's wasn't what I remembered years ago, not much flavor on the meat but the spicy BBQ sauce was my favorite. - BJ's was a total letdown. The sticky BBQ sauce was too sweet and covered up the too-dry ribs. - Bone Daddy's had a nice sear on the outside and had a bit of a smokiness. - Bison Rib from Montana was huge! But the meat was lean and SO chewy, I looked like a bison chewing on it. The prices now are insane. All samplers are an agreed upon monopolized price of $12 for 3 pork ribs. Every vendor sells the same price. Beef bones average $45-50. The VIP AYCE is so pricey that it's not even worth it. Enticing but who can possibly eat 20 ribs plus sides, beer and ice cream?! The setup is very nice and spaced out. There are trash bins everywhere, so the space is pretty clean. I liked how they have hand washing stations around also. The event is enjoyable only early morning or evenings. During the day is way to hot. Parking wasn't too bad since ppl come and go constantly and by the freeway, it's only a short 2 block walk. Fun event, but I left feeling greasy yet unfulfilled.

2018. Part 2 Two…read moreweeks really meant dividing the review into two parts. Over the weekend I stopped in at one of my most favorite places- SÜP, for their RBW special trio of soups and a mini loaf of bread for $10. They have participated all seven years. I get this to go, and it becomes lunch for three days. Always delicious. Not on Monday, I finally got to Moo Dang. I am such a wimp when it comes to spicy, but I still enjoy Asian foods. The RBW special was Drunken Noodles (zero spice for me) and a Big Chang Beer for $10. The noodles still had fabulous flavor and the beer I sent to another table- cheers. Wednesday was continuing the RBW dine with friends. Erica and went to Zozo's for their over the top $30 RBW special. So many choices !!! Probably the best bargain during the event. Appetizer, soup or salad, main, and dessert all for $30. Oh, and don't forget their very addictive basket of garlic bread. Yep, easily two meals here. See separate Zozo's review for all the food. So indecisive and running out of time. Thursday I ran up to Skyline Kitchen and Vine. $30 for an adult beverage, appetizer, main and dessert. Craving a burger, I did the 8 oz Kobe Burger, topped with caramelized onions, white cheddar, and a steak sauce aioli. Check restaurant review for full food description. Another busy Friday, but Claudy came up from Carson to try the RBW $10 lunch special at Chihuahua's on South Virginia across from the Lexus dealer. Plenty of food for the price. Chips and salsa arrived first. Then platter of a beef enchilada and a chili Relleno with beans and rice. The meal was good, but nothing wowed me. And the food chilled off rather quickly. That didn't matter because the waitress took my plate before I was all thru. Claudy and I ordered each of the desserts. Both were very sweet. The place wasn't packed during lunch, but I did feel rushed. Saturday!! Oh no RBW is over. The fabulous finale is always the Chef Showdown. This year 6 chefs who participated in RBW sliced, diced and sautéed against each other for bragging rights of the best in Reno. They an hour to create a vegetarian plate using butternut squash, couscous, turmeric and pomegranate. Mmm the aromas that filled the air. The best part is you get to walk around all the kitchens and see how they cook and ask questions. Brett Moseley won best use of ingredients and Joe Bell won best plating and overall WINNER. Congrats to everyone!!! Now after two weeks of having so many fabulous food specials with lots of friends- I'm off to the gym. See you next year. Or in any locally owned restaurant. Remember- Break the Chain, Reno has fabulous food.

It was two weeks of absolute fun as my room mates and I made an effort to visit as many restaurants as we possibly could. I already made separate reviews for all the places we dined at for the Reno Bites Restaurant Week, but just in case you missed it, we visited: Liberty Food and Wine Exchange, Chihuahua's Cantina and Grill, Skyline Kitchen and Vine, Sierra St. Kitchen, Moo Dang, Shore Room, and lastly Fin and Filet. Of course, I would have loved to try them all out, but there's only so much we could visit with work and what not. I love food and I love to eat. Whether it's breakfast, lunch, dinner, or dessert, I love them all. Not to mention there are countless restaurants and new ones keep popping up. With Reno Bites Restaurant Week, there are those selected and highlighted restaurants advertising their specials for those two weeks, making it very appealing to want to try them out. I, personally, was able to dine at many restaurants that I always wanted to try out, but never got the chance to. It was not just the food, but the experience as a whole. For those selected restaurants, it was great exposure and they were able to showcase a little taste of what they were about. And for us, it was fun and delicious experience. Unfortunately, we missed the Chef Showdown because we were out of town for the weekend. But, there's always next year and many years to come. Overall, this being my first ever Reno Bites, I have to say I loved every minute of it. Prices were very affordable and the foods were all so tasty. Sad to think we'll have to wait a whole year until the next one rolls around, but when it does finally come, I'll be ready!
