Flew all the way down from Las Vegas for this week. It's the 10th anniversary. So many vendors and so many restaurants are going to to tow for the title of best wings. First time at this festival. They had a few stages going with some good bands. Every type of chicken wing is available here. We tried several different booths-blackberry wings, buffalo wings and garlic Parmesan were just a few flavors but there is every flavor you can think of out here including peanut butter and jelly. Very hot this weekend but there are a lot of options to stay hydrated and you can always head to one of the casinos to cool off and have a refreshing drink. read more

We are very glad the wing fest is back this year, even though its a bit smaller than previous years. Although the number of vendors providing wing options is fewer there are some great tasting options. My favorite was the Ono wing from Aloha Shack, second, the sweet and spicy from Redneck. There is also a bomb pineapple chili margarita to quench your thirst and bring a smile to your face. There are other vendors selling a variety of artisan merchandise and treats, and a few stages for music options. It's a nice little afternoon option and only lasts the weekend. Came to Wing Fest on opening day. My honey was on of the Wing judges for the BBQ/Sweet segment of the flavored wings. She had to try 19 different wings from the many different vendors. I love the many different wing flavor many savor and others sweet almost like they are going for dessert flavored wings. It doesn't seem as appealing as savory wings, but hey different strokes for different folks. I liked they sold differing art, jewelry and so many other items and the festival. Not to mention the many alcoholic stands everywhere and reasonably priced for what you get. I got $12 mason jar so my honey could get fills for $7 bucks not bad for a generous amount of booze lol. Wing Fest isn't as big as I though it would be, I'm used to festival being massive. They did have several different bands playing music which is a plus. I did have a good time, but hope it will become a bigger festival over time. If you've never been to Reno Wing Fest I recommend you at least come once to check it out. read more

I love Reno in the summer. There is something to do every weekend and each year at 4th of July is Silver Legacy's Biggest Little City Wing Fest. Love the summer weather in Reno. Warm summer evening with a cool breeze from the Truckee River. Lots of people! Lots of wings! Lots of alcohol! And... today buying recreational marijuana became legal in our State of Nevada. Lots of that too!.. even though you are not supposed to partake in public. :-) There was live music throughout the festival; country, rock, country rock. The festival is about 3 blocks on Virginia. Street is blocked to traffic. The crowd was mellow. Parking is a bit tough, but we scored right off of Arlington! Perfect way to spend a Saturday evening, holiday weekend. BBQ smell throughout. Flew into this event glowing with excitement! I couldn't have had more fun at this and I definitely can't wait until next year! 20 wing vendors! Beer and summertime cocktail options. Plenty of desert vendors and fun stuff to find from hats to leggings and beyond! Was fortunate enough to help judge the Spicy wing category and I had a blast but 19 wings is a lot of wings! Not to mention it is obvious that getting more options after was "necessary" So many of these hard working wing creators have got the most spectacular talents and imagination. Flavors I wouldn't have thought to try for a chicken wing. ALL in one glorious place in the heart of downtown! Upside down pineapple cake, bacon wrapped bbq, PB&J with a blackberry jelly sauce, Salted caramel, & strawberry cheesecake??!!? Crazy right? SO SO SO worth it. This festival is always a good time. This year, however, was even better because I got to be a wing judge! I knew I was going to be judging sweet wings, so I got there early to sample a few of the spicy offerings. Unfortunately, I messed up my times and I was actually supposed to judge the spicy and not the sweet. It all worked out. I got to try some very good wings and some that were a bit far out there. One of my favorites was the Salted Caramel BBQ. Sounds strange, but it was really delicious and perfectly cooked. The crowds got to be a bit much and it was a hot day, but overall this is a very good event. read more

Great family event! Loved Wing of Fire unique flavors such as the PB&J and the Hawaiian. Another place I would definitely check out is Fury, it was the last place we visited but the best due to its hot and crispy crunch. The company Saturday made it a fun event for me this year. Held every year over the 4th of July weekend downtown. It's very similar to other local events- same area of Virginia street, live music on stage, some craft vendors and plenty of food vendors packing a three block strip along the Eldorado and Silver Legacy. The weather was wonderfully hot this year. Angie B and I met up with the always fabulous Michalangelo from Sacramento. The rest of the Wing Fest is history and a blur. As judges, thanks to Yelp, we received a couple of drink tickets that were well used while we wandered the venue taking lots of pictures and checking out all the tents. At 3pm we entered the judges tent to taste and judge 14 wings for their sweetness. We many great festivals throughout the year- food and drink always the center of attention. But spending the day with great friends makes it a fantastic event. Grab a friend and make sure you discover the one !! read more

Could we be more spoiled? Reno has a variety of food events & this one has become a favorite. Over the years they have stepped up the vendors & increased the variety of wing choices. Some flavors are questionable & others are finger-licking good. Being on a keto diet makes it to where I pick & choose food carefully. So being allowed to judge the dry rub wings was perfect for me. They had flavors from super garlicky(my wife devoured them), very lemony(-me), smoked, sweet & spicy, even sweet like a churro.....so many. When I get down a few pounds, watch out saucy wings! Delicious for sure, so good that I had wings for dinner Friday & then lunch & dinner on Saturday. Then washed them down with a few Guinness because they're the best. I also tried one of the hottest wings there(I dont mean sexy) super-melt-your-tongue-off hot. Thanks buddy, you know who you are. I recommend going on Friday because some ran out of flavors by Saturday lunch time, they're just that good. unfortunately they dont sell they're dry rub like at the rib cook off. Just have to come back next year. Wingfest has become a hit in reno & parking can be a hassle. So consider rideshare, etc. If you haven't been, you're missing out. The wings we tried were good, hot? Good service but there were few wing booths. There were many vendors and the cocktails were good. It wasn't organized very well. No place to wait in line without being in the way of patrons trying to walk in either directions. Thought the prices were high. $9 a drink and our first two were watermelon mojito which were good but one had too much alcohol and not sure the other one had any. The strawberry vodka lemonade was very good as was the mango margarita and strawberry basil margarita all $9. Blue moon beer with orange slice was $7. The wings were all three for $5. The funnel cake with raspberry sauce and whipped cream for $9 was the highlight. I would probably give it another try. read more

Seriously what a let down- we stood in line for 45 mins- to only receive 3 wings each that were COLD and the sauce lukewarm- it was over $13+ for a total of 6 wings- only 3 per customer, which was 2/3's the size of a pinky finger.... This is my first year at the wing Fest. I've been to other different Wing competitions in Reno, but we have been gone for the 4th the last 3 years so we have missed this one. It's set up like any other downtown festival. But thankfully this one really does a good job of bringing in lots of different wing vendors. In fact I think they had more than 20 different wing vendors this year. The music played while I was there was pretty good quality. Decent sounding covers as I went from booth to booth. The prices for 2014 were 3 wings for $4. Then from there some booths gave no quantity discounts and many had 8 for $9 and some even had 12 for $10! The alcohol prices were reasonable but not too inexpensive. And the drinks were probably the best festival drinks I've ever had. They had given out all of the trophies before Sunday so if voting is important to you, you need to hit it up the first two days. We went to 14 different vendors and they all worked pretty quickly. Except for Wing King. They had a huge line most of the time, and the line was because they were so slow, not because of high demand. The wings were good though. We had a little group go and sample 14 different wing vendors. In the end out favorite for this year was Wingredient. Perfect blend of spicy sweet and flavorful. Oh and one more thing. They have a "VIP" tent for sale at $70 a person that includes all you can eat and drink (beer, wine, soda) all day long. I may just have to do that one year. read more

Don't just wing it! We kinda stumbled upon this festival while we were in Reno early July and thought we'd check it out just for the heck of it. Though I'm not an expert on chicken wings, I am an expert on delicious and thought I'd just wing it. Ok, bad pun. The Wing Fest took up several blocks in downtown Reno along the main street all the way to the "Reno - Biggest little city in the world" sign. I immediately noticed a lot of police activity with an area cordoned off surrounded by Reno's finest and I assumed it was extra security for the festival. Like any other festival, they had a bunch of vendors selling cheap merchandise mixed in with the food vendors proudly displaying their trophies and all claiming to have the best chicken wings. I mean every booth had trophies displayed in front of their stall so it was really hard to determine who actually had the best chicken wing this year and who actually win the overall price. Nevertheless, we were there to try the chicken wings with different flavors and sauces. The end result was a messy, sticky, gooey, unfulfilled promise of spicy hotness that delivered the basic with nothing standing out. Yeah, the chicken wings were OK.....but nothing wowed me. If these were supposed to be the best, then they sure fooled the public. They must've given the best pieces to the judges and left the rest for us to consume. It got to a point were all I tasted was sauce and the chicken wings were lost and lacking that chicken flavor while others were as dry as the desert heat in Reno. Maybe some of them were really "winging it" it by drenching everything in their "secret sauce" hoping to mask the flavor. Like I said in the beginning - I may not be an expert on chicken wings, but I know delicious and none of them were indeed delicious. TLDR; I've never been to the Biggest Little City Wing Fest before (surprisingly) and what a way to kick it off. I had a blast judging wings for the BBQ round and I never knew I could eat so many wings in one sitting. Service The staff was super friendly and fun and gave my flats every round because flats are the far superior wing ;) Environment Thankfully the judging round was in a covered area because it was very hot outside. Maybe next time we could have a little AC as well ;) Food There were so many wings and a blind taste test so its hard to say what was what but they were all very good. What a fun community event this was. Had I not been a Yelp judge, I may not have even bothered to go. Sometimes we just don't take advantage of the things that are right in our own backyard (figure of speech.. this was just a few blocks away). After the disappointment of having an hours' delay in judging... the actual judging was fun. Of course, it was pretty fast-paced eating. 15 wings in roughly 45 minutes is some serious heartburn waiting to happen... no matter how good the wings were. While I enjoyed many of the flavors offered during our 4 PM tasting, I;m sad to say nothing jumped out to say "you gotta get some of this." Maybe that was in the earlier or later tastings. I should say, that nothing was awful... they were all good, except the last two options...14 was HOT, 15 was SUPER HOT.. took one bite and put it down. Although I did hear about a maple/bacon flavored wing (I didn't get this one). Would I do it again.... absolutely. A shaded place to sit under a tent, nice an comfortable, plenty of wings, water, and a couple of drink coupons to boot. How can you go wrong. During the delay... what could you do.. go home or go into the casino... really what was the option. Thanks for the delay.. I'm $300 richer (thanks Eldorado). So get out there fellow Reno"ites"... live music, good eating, and the being part of the community. Downtown Reno is no longer the scary place it used to be 10 years ago. I am on the fence on this event. Really, it is the music that draws me in more than the food/drink. There are sooo many people. The lines are crazy long! So if you really want to have wings,, plan to get there early or plan to eat before so that you are not famished while waiting in line for over 20 min to get some food/drink. I know it's a wing festival, but the lines were so long, that I opted for the street tacos instead (no line!). They were very tasty! 3 for $8. Music was great! This year Friday was Uncle Kracker, and he put on a great show. Some tips to those that attend: 1. Get there early for the shortest line to the popular stands - and best chance to find seating. 2. Get a drink from inside the casino, then bring a red solo cup (or equivalent) to transfer it into so you can take it outside. 3. Cash is king 4. I am from Buffalo NY so I have had a few wings in my lifetime. This is a chicken wing festival during the 4th of July weekend. 4th being a Tuesday kinda messed up the big 3 day weekend. Like any food festivals in the area, you compare it to the Rib Cook Off in Sparks. Been to the wing festival event a few times. Tonight we are coming to see the young country star Trent Harmon, American Idol winner. Atmosphere - In the heart of downtown Reno's casino area. Virginia Street is closed for the event. Vendors are intermixed with the wing cookers lining both sides of the street. There are not many tables so you might be standing and eating. Food Drinks - I ordered my drink after I was done eating, I ended up with a 12 ounce of Hop Valley's Citrus Mistress for $6. Wings - We only ended up at two different wing vendors this year. Paulie's Pizza - Paulie is from the Buffalo area, and always can be found wearing our beloved sports team shirts. Paulie has been winning a lot of Trophies at this event, and because of this the lines probably the longest. Today I found his wings were a little sweeter that I care for. Chicks-N-Wings - My wife claims I stopped here because of the ladies. I really stopped here because there was no line. Lines do not really matter at food festivals as people rarely go back for seconds at the same spot. Their wings were more on spot to what I like. Service - Everyone was friendly. This is the first time going at night and the place was packed. Like I said we came to see Trent Harmon. A free concert from a young artist. He performed for almost 90 minutes. At the end of the concert he said he will take pictures and sign autographs until the sun comes up. My daughter wanted to go see him and she had her picture taken with him. I was honored to have been selected as a judge for the 2019 Biggest Little City Wing Fest that was held downtown Reno. The area set aside for the judging was directly in Front of the El Dorado Hotel Casino along 4th Street. I judged the dry rubbed wings and there were 16 entries. In all fairness to all who are attempting to win the title of best dry rubbed wing, the judges were judging in the blind. We did not know which stand the wings came from or the business name associated with what we sampled and judged. A big round of applause for the effort put forth by the participants who are really striving to come up with a better wing for all wing lovers out there. The judging was performed on a scale from 1-10, 10 being the best score any entry could attain. For the most part, each wing I tasted had its own unique twist. There were 3 that were so close in taste, I would have a difficult time telling them apart. And all 3 were delectable. One of the 16, was way over the top with the salt. Some, I found too sugary, with brown sugar being the most common of the sugars used. My overall favorite was the wing with a hint of star anise. The hint of star anise was subtle and the rest of the spices were well balanced and the wing had a slight crunch to it that resonated with my taste buds. One wing had an unfamiliar crust, it was also too sweet, but was only coated on the top side, the bottom side looked like it had not been spiced at all. Overall it was a great day, a fun day and judging by the live music and the size of the crowd, it was a happy crowd eating there way from one block to the other and back. I loved every minute of it. I Love festivals in Reno and who doesn't love beer and chicken wings. So I had some of the wings with the Alabama white sauce and I thought those were good which they were. Then I tried some from another place. And you think since I yelp often I would have remembered the name of the 2nd place or the sauce type but I didn't. But I do know that it was a spicy Korean sauce on plump chicken wings. They were messy and sweet and spicy and probably the best chicken wings I ever had. And I thought that nobody could beat the wings from this spot in my hometown but they did. Good job on the chicken wings Un named wing place. Bad job on remembering on me. Other than that live music, chicken wings, beer, craft vendors, and good time with the family. Right outside the casinos so eat some chicken wings in the sun then head inside the casino in the air conditioning. read more

This year it was fortunate that it wasn't a typical July with temps in the high 90's. It was a warm but manageable 85 degrees, which helps with walking around for a street festival. I'm not sure how many booth participants there were in the wing category, but I'd say at least 18. There are tons of varieties, sweet glazes, bbq, dry rubs, mexican seasonings, Asian flavor profiles (korean wings and mongolian glaze were great), some fruity habanero style, parmesan/butter based, classic buffalo (not enough of these!), and even a CBD oil infused one. Lots to choose from. If you are like me and love a crispy wing , Maui Jane's Shaka wings were stand out crispy with a variety of glazes in varying levels of heat. Beers were pretty pricy in the $7-9 range and the quality control on the cocktails were very poor for the price. I watched them sloppily mix them in large pitchers. It was a gamble whether you'd get one that was too sweet with syrup or almost pure liquor, either end of the spectrum was pretty undrinkable. They have a variety of random vendor booths that can be fun to peruse, and don't forget to visit the Playa Art Park and look at the variety of wonderful murals downtown too. read more

Ok I'm officially stopping complaining that I never get into Yelp events. It was a VIP Giveaway to be a judge at Wing Fest. I RSVPed yes and assumed I'd be hitting Wing Fest as a civilian. Nope I got in! Thanks Michael T!!! I arrived at 230pm for the 3pm judging time. Sara(h?) was on hand and informed me that they were running an 1 hour behind. She handed me some drink tickets; a few extra for the wait and asked that I come back. Street fair drinks are usually nothing to write home about but the Strawberry Basil Margarita was perfection -- halves of fresh strawberries, julienned basil, ice and tequila. Excellent way to kill an hour! Let the judging begin: 15 wings were served in rapid fire. Forms were completed - rating on a scale of 1-5 plus room for notes. Some interesting flavors -- Carmel, popcorn, raspberry. Last two wings of the tasting were HOT HOT HOT! The wing with the olive screamed to be a garnish for a Bloody Mary! General Tso Wing was spicy hot but served cold -- it would've been amazing warm. My fav was a garlicky, cheesy wing from Boulevard Pizza (cookers' names were given after judgement) All-in-all great event. Fun time judging with fellow YELPERS! Considering we were only heading up to Reno for some golf and gambling over the July 4th weekend, stumbling into the Biggest Little City Wing Fest was a welcome surprise! I'd been to the Rib Fest over at the Nugget about five years ago and had an awesome time, so I was both excited and hopeful that the Wing Fest would be just as good. After all, who wouldn't be excited about the prospect of eating copious amounts of delicious wings?? Although it's not as large as its meatier, more well known cousin, Wing Fest isn't exactly small either. Stretching through the heart of downtown Reno (from Circus Circus to Harrah's, as well as onto some of the cross streets off N. Virginia), the festival featured nearly a dozen wing stands, along with a mix of other eateries, as well as a number of vendors selling various merchandise and crafts. Also, like Rib Fest, it's free to enter; you just pay for what you want to eat/drink/buy. While there were also a couple of areas for people to take in different musical acts, we didn't really explore much beyond the different wing contestants. Or at least, tried to. From hot to buffalo to sweet & spicy, a wide range of styles and flavors were accounted for. However, with long, glacially slow lines at nearly every stand, trying one or two types of wings was challenging enough, let alone all of them. Fortunately, my buddy was able to snag some wings from a stand with a short line at a quiet edge of the festival. Outside of that one basket we shared though, we gave up on waiting to try any others (too hungry to wait!). (For the record, the wings we had were deep fried and lathered with a sweet, fruity glaze that packed a sharp punch of heat. Interesting flavor combination, but pretty overcooked.) Now, to be fair, the day we were there definitely wasn't a normal one, given the shooting that happened before we arrived (there was an area still cordoned off with police tape). When we passed through the festival the night before, it was A LOT easier to maneuver around. Granted, we were also there a little later, when they were about done for the night (most of the vendors were already closing up), but still, there were far fewer people to weave through. Although I'd be lying if I said the Wing Fest was even half as awesome as the Rib Fest was, I wouldn't rule out possibly coming back, as the potential is there for a better experience in the future. Since they've only been around for a few years, perhaps they're still working out the kinks (lack of organized lines, the narrow vendor layout). At the very least, I'd like to think (hope?) that a shooting won't happen again. Plus, maybe an entrant will add some kick ass Korean fried chicken wings to the lineup! If you like wings this event is for you!!!! I don't but there was plenty of other food items to eat. I figure most people eat about a dozen wings. So there were lots of places to get a sampler. Lots of yummy sounding flavors too Salted Caramel, Maple Bourbon, even Lemon Garlic. I found some Carolina style BBQ. I got a one meat plate for only $9.50. It came with my choice of pulled pork (at least 1/2lb), baked beans, cole slaw and a roll. I was only able to eat about half. Great time people watching!!! read more

Words can not describe the excitement and anticipation I was feeling when I was picked to be a wing judge at Reno's wingfest We arrived , at 3:30pm for a 4pm judging. When we arrived I got that feeling in my stomach that something was not right. We were the only ones In the tent. I asked several people and they confirmed that we were in the correct place. When it was 3:55 and we still were the only ones in the tent, it pretty much confirmed my worst nightmare. A silver legacy executive passed by and confirmed the judging was cancelled. Apparently a man was shot and part of the wingfest was closed. I am glad nobody else was hurt, it could have been alot worse, kudos to our police officers. Oh well, there is always next year. read more

Wingfest is a great family event. We come every year from Santa Cruz to attend! Our favorite wings our the "Secret Weapon" from the Wing Master booth. Our second favorite choice is the Wing Doctors Sweet Teriyaki. The live music this year has been great. It is really crowded on Saturday, Friday evenings around 6 is a good time to attend. It's cooler and not as crowded. Keep that in mind for next year. We are looking forward to attending the Awards Ceremony on Saturday at 5:00. Go WingMasters! I love me some chicken wings! Wing Fest is a fun event downtown to experience anything from the traditional buffalo wing to some crazy combos such as PB&J or caramel (not a fan of either of those BTW!) This event is family friendly, but still has lots of beer and cocktails for the grown ups. In typical Sarah fashion, I found myself drawn to the local wing offerings, this is not intentional, but the good part of that is when I want a wing fix I don't have to wait until next July. Some faves were offered by Pauly's Pizza (local) and Wingredient (local to Montana). Some fun vendors this year! I got some new owl tank tops and bought Drew a custom beach cruiser :) yay! Loved the vintage metal sign vendor! My complaint w this event, like soooooooooo many others, seating and shade is completely over looked. There were some small hi top tables, but they were staked out and held down for hours, unfortunately mostly by people not even eating wings! The rest of us commoners end up sitting on the dirty sidewalk, behind the garbage of the vendors tents, to capture a tiny bit of shade and a chance to sit. Come on Reno, there has to be a better way! read more

What's not to like? Wings, music, lemonade, more wings... beer... 'Merica! I celebrated pre-Independence day fireworks at the Biggest Little City Wing Fest in Reno.. Every wing had it's day here, unique and classic flavors and everything in between, from PB&J to Buffalo style.. each vendor had their take on this classically American appetizer.... the favorite for me was the Rosie's organic Habanero slathered wing.. a close second fave was the Lemon Parmesan from a different vendor.. there were so many wings it was kind of hard to keep track! read more

This was awesome! I can't believe all the different styles of wing sauces there was! Definitely a must go every year. The venue itself is set up on the streets between Eldorado and silver legacy. I didn't know that the judging table was running late so we got to taste the sweet wings instead of the hot wings (I'm glad, my taste buds would have burnt off by the end of that tasting...lol) the organizers were great. Funny and kept the crowd going with some smart banter. The wings, the oh so delicious wings were the bomb diggity. Each had their own unique take on the sweetness of sauces. My favorite was a smokey sweet garlic number 15. Yummy! read more

This was the second year that we attended the Biggest Little City Wing Fest. Last year, we were just run of mill attendees trying to find the best place to sample wings from. I'll be honest, we weren't completely impressed last year and weren't sure we were going to go this year. But then, Yelp offered the VIP Judging tickets - and we love our chicken wings, so we just had to try! Unlike last year, we had a place to sit and eat our wings - in the shade no less! That was a big issue for us last year, there was nowhere to sit. We were part of the 3 PM judging crew this year and our wing group was "Best Sweet Wing." We were given a sheet of paper, a tray for the upcoming boneyard, two drink tickets and a rubber chicken for schwag. Again, if I'm being honest, it wasn't terribly organized and although the Silver Legacy folks were doing their best, it was a bit of a cluster in the beginning. Once we were rolling though - the wings just kept coming! We tried 14 different wings ranging from a sweet and tangy traditional barbecue to a dessert wing. I didn't know such a thing was possible, and it really shouldn't have. That strawberry cheesecake wing was a disaster! But we did have our favorites too and ones we enjoyed so much that we had to go and check out the booths themselves after we finished judging. As always, I loved being with our Yelp group enjoying tasty food and drinks. It was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. read more

A warm day , large enough crowd and tons of vendors. I was supposed to judge the songfest on Sunday at 4pm, but there was police action nearby which closed half the songfest down. I went to Wing Fest this year on a Saturday, and thanks to yelp, my friend Whitney S (go friend her! ) and I got to be judges for the wings We got there an hour early (unbeknownst to us there was a shift in the times for judging), and we wandered around a little in the heat. I got a beer (the stand ran out of Shock Top, so I settled for Bud Light, I didn't want to wait in another booth's line), the place was happening! As we waited, there was live music, and country tunes were playing, so we did what we know best and line danced a little bit to the music. After we judged 15 delicious wings, we hung around for a little bit more and danced to the music. All around great festival, and I can't wait until next year's! read more
