Just when I thought I've been to every restaurant in Clawson, I find one more to explore. Apparently this place has been here since the 1960s, but I never even noticed it until I did some exploring on Yelp. On the positive side, the service was good and the menu is huge. There are more TVs than any one human could watch, but the music was a bit loud. The photos on Yelp definitely give a dive bar vibe, but it was actually nicer than I expected and there were several facilities there the night we visited. As for the food, I'll admit that our order of a calzone, mac and cheese and a Caesar salad was pretty basic, so in fairness, it's probably not a surprise that we were not that impressed with the food. read more

We're updating our review to modern times. We were doing some shopping in downtown clawson and decided to stop into the renshaw again and see what was happening. We ordered the Detroit style deep dish pizza with mushroom onion and bacon. And a couple of zombie killers for drinks. My wife enjoys the fact that they have zombie killer on tap as we've tried the bottle/can version and it's just not as good. The pizza was excellent as usual. This was our first deep dish here and we were not disappointed. As a matter of fact the pizza was so good it beat out our dinner that night at the Grand Tavern in Troy of crab stuffed shrimp which wasn't that good as crazy as that sounds. Renshaw Rules. What's not to like about this place. It's a local hangout for everyone in Clawson. It has been an icon in this community for a very long time. When you go in, it seems like it would be just a nice restaurant bar but then you look into the back and there is a huge long bar with comfortable chairs, and cheap beer during happy hour. Great young bar! Felt like a sports bar for college kids. I bet it's popping during the Michigan vs State game lol. Servers were very quick & on top of things even though it was super busy! Beer was cold and my 2 Hearted on draft tasted great. We ordered a side of fries to split and they came out hot which was another happy moment! Only thing I'd say I don't like is that I feel it is overpriced ($7.50 for a 22oz 2Hearted, $6.50 for fries, and $8.00 for a 22oz Stella. I've been coming here for 40 years and I could always count on a great pizza pie but during the last two visits in October (Saturday) and November (Tuesday) I experienced the absolute worse pizza I have ever ate anywhere! Due to the Pandemic, Renshaw has had to adjust like everyone else. They've reopened for curbside pickup with a limited menu. They did a great job. We ordered pizza, wings & tater tots - we needed some comfort food - and we're tired of cooking! The order was ready in 15 minutes. Their process for pickup was perfect. They have numbered parking spots, you show up, text them your name and parking spot and bingo, a minute later out comes your order. Mine was delivered by 2 young ladies appropriately masked and gloved. I had pre-paid so contact was minimal. Bonus - they threw in a mini bottle of Fireball, that helped with the night.
