I just have to say, this was one of the BEST dining experience my family and I have had in the longest. There was a wait, so we chose to sit at the bar and were lucky enough to have Kristina. We just want to thank her again. The service industry has changed so much so to see someone who loves their job and is SO good at it was refreshing. Happy, kind, & attentive. My husband and I were amazed watching her go from person to person, all by herself, even the people walking up to just grab a drink didn't have to wait! Ford's garage is worth going back to. I enjoyed my food and the service was great. They have so many menus options, I can't wait to go back and explore the menu some more. The interior decor is nice, it obviously car themed hence the name. They have 2 bars and plenty of tables to accommodate large parties. I opted for a turkey burger with green beans to keep things healthy. I enjoyed both. The waitress mentioned the green beans are crunchy but that's the way I like them. I suppose if you like yours a bit more cooked, then ask to have them sautéed longer but I liked them how they were. I heard so many good things about this place so I was happy to finally stop by. We really like this place. Food is good and wait staff is generally friendly and provides proper service. Ambience brings back memories of service stations aka garages. Today's food is perfect. We had a burger bowl that was - to me - like a deconstructed burger; another person had the fish and chips that were good and served crisp and hot; and another had the meatloaf and it was served with brown gravy and two sides. Two points that knocked down the score bar service was tooooo slow. I was going to have a second beer and by the time waitress came to apologize about long delay and frustration with bar service, I told her to cancel it. Second, the waitress had to be reminded to bring drink refills after we asked for them. She apologized and got them right away. But, it added to our frustration of delays. We'd been seeing the ads for years at the museum, but we usually are there for evening events so we hadn't had an opportunity to visit until now. Still don't have enough handicap parking so I can really only come at lunch time so I can find a close to the door parking. I was able to get a regular table after turning down a place at the bar and high top table. But then I wait and waited for a waitress so after 5 minutes I flagged down a passing one. She did tell me she would get someone but took my drink order. Since I am a light eater and getting a free appetizer, I just ordered a bowl of tomato bisque soup and the hot pretzels appetizer. A little more wait, and both was brought out together. I ate one of the pretzels with my soup and took the rest home. The soup was the most spicy tomato bisque soup I have ever eaten. I enjoy coming here with my family before I board my train at the station right next door. This place is very popular and busy so I highly recommend a reservation during the weekend. The entrance area is often full of people waiting. Thankfully they have a large parking lot to accommodate the crowds. Excellent service from Ashley tonight! She was very attentive, kind, and helpful. Fun decor! Old Ford model cars, tires for sinks in the bathroom, gas station pump handles as door handles--I love it! The bathroom stalls are quite spacious, which is very nice, but the toilets feel low to the ground. Really good food! The onion ring tower is so fun, presented on a gas funnel. The onion rings are crispy, flavorful and addictive! And they're not greasy. The wings are so good too! Excellent burgers, fries, and tater tots. I really enjoyed my shrimp bowl. The shrimp was perfectly grilled and presented over rice and veggies, and sprinkled with a tasty dressing. I tend to order the dishes with shrimp, such as the famous Firestone shrimp, and they've all been great. My aunt thought her Blackened Salmon salad was just okay. The salmon was lukewarm. My mom loved her black and blue burger and her fries were seasoned really well and crispy. My uncle had a burger bowl and loved the burger patty on top. 3 ladies and I went on a Saturday afternoon. Lots of ppl waiting to be seated but lots of empty tables. Our server was very nice and personable but had to leave due to illness. It took forever for our food to be served. Mine mushroom Swiss burger was supposed to be medium rare. It was well done. Server removed it to be done as I ordered. Approx. 30 minutes later, the manager brought my burger, still not medium rare. Also, my friends were done eating. I was not happy but the manager left it on the table and removed it from my bill. The vibe inside is very nice, the car theme is a smmmiiiidge over the top, but overall, it's expected and I enjoyed it. Beer selection was good. Menu is large, enough options for everybody. I loved how you could upgrade to chicken on the burgers, so many places don't let you do that and I almost exclusively eat chicken sandwiches. I got the brisket burger, with chicken. Sadly the chicken was a bit skimpy and very tough... think overcooked with a more crispy exterior. It tasted like a pretzel bun, which I don't love, and it said it came with brioche, but maybe their brioche is pretzely. Taking away 1 star mostly for that chicken. This is a must when we make our yearly visit to see the kids. I have tried and tried, but have never found another exceptional Peanut Butter Bacon burger. This is the very best, no other burger compares. It almost puts you in a food coma. The entire concept from the V8 engines on the booths, the model t over the bar, and even the hose clamp napkin rings is exceptional. They have created an ambiance that is just outstanding. Wow, this place is amazing. Wonderful, spectacular! Originally from Detroit, my parents wanted to make the plane ride from Arizona to Detroit. They wanted to meet up with some of their friends at a local restaurant. Hands-down Ford's garage was the perfect place. From the food to the atmosphere to the service everything was impeccable. We had a large group which they quickly accommodated. The ambience was above average. Although this restaurant is not owned by Ford, it is across from the Ford headquarters in Dearborn. From the model T hanging in the bar to the tire and wheel sinks in the bathroom whoever designed this restaurant left no detail un thought of. I got the feeling I was in an old garage. The food was just as pleasing to my taste buds as the decor was to my eyes. I had the Henry chicken. It was a grilled chicken breast with goat cheese and a lemon bur Blanc with sun-dried tomatoes. It was served with a side of mashed potatoes. A few at the table had burgers. Once again, the attention to detail was out of this world. You can see on my photos below that the Ford symbol was branded into the top of the bun. All of the staff were kind and gave great recommendations. They literally said everything on the menu was good and with the amount of people at our table there was definitely an opportunity to try pretty much everything on the menu. The food was great. My friends had two of the most popular sandwiches, which, although they took a bit long to come (probably since the restaurant was packed to the brim), they tasted amazing. The service was fantastic. The waiters were super friendly and offered my friend a sample of a shot after he expressed interest in it. Visited Detroit from Atlanta and my boyfriend took me here to try. The decor is one of a kind as it is very detailed and themed with Ford logo, history and vehicle parts. I'm not a big burger eater but I was told this place is known for its burgers, so I gave one a try. I tried the Black and Blue burger and my boyfriend tried the BBQ Burger both were huge and made with fresh ingredients. I asked for broccoli as a side but got french fries instead. I didn't bother to complain because I was too hungry at this point. I had been at airports and on a plane all morning and hadn't eaten all day. We sat at the bar and the service was okay. Burgers were cooked to temp, the filet was a bit overdone but not so bad that it was sent back. We had to ask once for water refilled but overall quick and good service.
