When we landed at Erie International, our car reservation got messed up and we were without a car. Thankfully the young man at the airport gave us Rent a Wreck as a recommendation! I got a nice car at a reasonable rate. They were easy to work with making my reservation, and friendly when I picked up my rental. If I need a car again I will go back to Rent-a-Wreck. I went back !!! Last week I hit a deer, my insurance Company set me up with another rental agency..... what a hassle they couldn't get me a car right away they couldn't get me what I wanted and it was gonna cost me extra money in addition to what my insurance was going to pay. I called Rent-A-Wreck. Greg, the owner was more than helpful. He took my claim number called in to verify my coverage, immediately called me back I had a car right away!! It was clean reliable took care of me for the week and a half that it took to get my vehicle fixed. I didn't have to deal with the insurance company again, Rent-A-Wreck made it so easy! Word of advice don't let your insurance company tell you to where to rent a car go to where they're going to take care of you! read more

During a recent visit to Erie, I decided to try Rent-a-Wreck for my transportation during the week. It is so convenient to the airport! I got an older, clean car for less than half than I would have paid any "big name" rental company. This appears to be a mom-and-pop operation, so they are anxious to please their customers..and they did. Reasonable product for an excellent price -- and great customer service (thanks, Ashley!!) I really appreciate Greg's generosity, he helped me out by saving me money compared to going with a competitor. He originally gave me a Chevy Malibu sedan, and because I was by myself, I requested something smaller and better on gas, and he kindly switched my car to a nice little compact Kia. It was great. I plan on using Rent A Wreck again next time I need a low cost yet quality option. As a heads up to future renters, make sure you notify them if you go through an EZ pass toll booth, Pennsylvania has been implementing cashless tolls where the only way you can get charged is by them taking a picture and billing the license plate/car owner. I forgot to notify Greg and incurred a fee, but thankfully he refunded me that charge and I just had to pay the toll fee. I always rent from here . Great prices, clean cars.they have propane also . The owner is usually present if you have any problems he's quick to fix them for you. I came early one day to get some propane for my picnic and was disappointed they weren't open yet and all of a sudden they came out and filled my propane tank even though they weren't open and I really appreciated that. read more

My wife and have rented cars from Rent a Wreck many times over the years. Just this year we rented the Nissan van for a trip to Tennessee and more recently a Ford Focus to travel to Florida. Great service, it was so easy to get my propane tank filled.

I rented a 4 year old hhr from rent a wreck. Obviously a 4 year old car in Erie is going to have minor scratches which this car had. When I returned the car rent a wreck said I had damaged the car when there was only the same minor scratches that were on the car when I picked it up. He had my credit card on file and without my authorization they charged my card. I disputed it for over a year and finally American Express overruled me because they have to side with the merchant over the paying customer. I also disputed it with rent a wreck corporation and they told me that the owner is the boss and can't be overruled. I lost the case and $900 because this guy is a con artist. If you don't want to get ripped off by this owner stay away. I have been told by insurance companies that rent a wreck has a history of doing this. The only reason I didn't give it 0 stars is because the site wouldn't allow it. If you would like to see the pictures proving my point let me know and I will send them to you. Everybody who saw the pictures agrees with me. American Express also agreed with me and that's why the dispute lasted for over a year but for some reason American Express has to back the merchant over the customer. I was told many times don't worry about it that they would take care of it but in the end they backed down. I'm not happy with American Express after they promised me for over a year that they would back me and they agreed I was right. read more
