I rented a kayak for an hour and had the worst, most tortuous adventure. I saw a couple of spiders crawling on the kayak before getting in and kindly asked the employee to remove them as I'm terrified of spiders. I didn't think much of it and didn't expect there would be any more inside the kayak. I got in and started paddling away from the dock, but soon began seeing more and more spiders crawling on the sides and coming towards me. It was an absolute nightmare trying to paddle back. I informed the employees about the issue and suggested that maybe a simple rinse would take care of it, but they didn't seem to care very much and said that they're doing their best and this occurs quite often. I was very shocked by that response and decided to leave a review so that others know about this spider situation before going here. read more

Wanted to go kayaking on a saturday at 11 am. Called on friday evening to inquire. Spoke with someone on the phone. They suggested I make a reservation on the online system, but there would be no issue with availability at that time. Great. Made a reservation for two single kayaks. Easy. Next morning, we are in the car heading over. Randomly, I checked my email and found they had sent an email 20 min before we were scheduled to arrive that they would be "closed all day." Totally ruined our morning, we were already on our way there. I got a phone message at around 1 pm saying they fixed whatever they need to and were actually going to be open, so we could come down if we want. No thanks, we had already moved on with our day. I get it, stuff happens. But I literally talked w someone the day before and they said we were good to go. But you're going to let me know 20 min before my rez that you're closed all day? That's bogus. I suppose I should have trusted the other yelp reviews and expected this place to be closed during working hours, like they warned. read more

Came here for rowing practices with the masters crew only. Loved being able to participate. Sad that hours changed so often for practice it was hard to accommodate. The customer service experience was ehhh... nothing special. We rented 4 single kayaks 7/27/2020. Our group had never been kayaking and there was no help or friendly tips on how to get our kayak onto the water and get in without trouble. And no tips on which direction to go for the best experience. The employee just pointed to our kayaks and walked off the dock. I mean, we figured it out of course, but it was just odd. When our time was up, there was another family getting into a triple kayak. The employee helped them in, holding their kayak close to the dock and gave them directions on where to go for the best experience.... okay... Kayaking was fun and had a nice little view but they should work on their customer service skills. Probably won't be back, we only went here because all of the kayaks on South Lake Union were reserved. This place would be great for you if you already have experience kayaking and don't want people to bother you, just get on your kayak and go type of thing. read more

Location is great at the south end of lake Washington right next to Boeing and renton airport, you can either head down to Gene Coulon or along the water front by rainier ave and house watch. We paddle our kayak up the river under the renton library and renton airport. Had to deal with a lot of boat and jet skiers by coulon so we headed up river. Pro - friendly service, not super crowded, nicely priced Con - paddles for both kayaks and paddle boards old, kayaks did not have built in Rudders which caused issues when dealing with wakes caused by boats and wind. read more

Its a bit of a hidden gem of Renton. Most folks don't even know this place exists and they wouldn't know unless they walked the Cedar River trail all the way to the end. Me being a long time resident of Renton, I've always known about this spot and it's nice. There isn't a lot of canoes/paddles to rent but not having to deal with the hassle of crowds or commute makes this place my first choice for some summer water fun! The location is great too because you can go up river of the Cedar - loop around the south end of Lake Washington and watch the sea planes take off and land. If you're an avid kayaker - you can make your way to seward park or along the beautiful lake front homes and up to the Seahawks training center or even over to Coulon Beach for some food and drinks. I usually go to greenlake. Calmer and warmer water. Atmosphere is awesome. But this place is closer. Not as friendly or welcoming for my first experience but I need my padding boarding so tried it out. May go back. But first choice is greenlake. Will try Alki as well. read more

Renton Rowing Center is a great place for people of any skill level to learn to row and get out on the water. They have rowing programs for adults, middle schoolers and high schoolers. The coaches are great, I highly recommend it! I look forward to trying out the kayak and SUP rentals when the the summer rental season begins. read more

Really disappointed with the management and staff of the RRC. Absolutely no response to a complaint I posted about the Renton River days. On Facebook, emails and phone calls. Not a good way to run a business. I'll be going to Cascade rentals instead. They at least have the gall to respond! read more

A little hard to find, but worth it. My daughter and I tried stand up paddle boarding (SUP) for the first time. It was windy and the water was choppy, but we managed to make it to Gene Coulon Park and back without falling in the water. Their equipment is in excellent condition and we were treated very well. Once the word gets out on this place rental equipment may be more difficult to obtain, but for now it's a great option for local water recreation. Be aware that there is an age limit for rentals and you'll need your own lock for their lockers. read more

For the past 3 months, I've been participating in the RRC rowing program and we've just finished competing in our first regatta. I have nothing but great things to say about Renton Rowing Center. The coaches are helpful and encouraging, but still press us to work hard. The comradery of rowing with a fun and motivated group has been delightful. I was in the Adult program starting with Learn to Row thru intermediate class this year at RRC. Coaches were great, they have just the right balance working you hard so you get better while keeping it fun so you want to come back. My14 daughter has been in the junior program at RRC for the last 2 months and loves it as well. She even wants to do the winter conditioning. I have nothing but good things to say. read more

I took my team at work here a few years ago and we had a great time. We tried to go back there this year. I called and left 2 messages- no response. I checked their website for more info to contact them. Difficult to find, but finally found an email address. I emailed- it bounced back. I had copied and pasted the email from the website into my email- so it was the exact email address they had posted. I looked at it closely and it looked like there was a spelling error in the email address. I fixed it- still bounced back. Looking at the other reviews, it seems other have experienced poor customer service as well. It's really too bad- beautiful location, nice park next to it, and inside it has areas to to change and store your things. I will stick to Northwest Paddle Surfers at the Adams Street Park just north of Seward Park. Too bad though, because this place is closer to work and my team was really looking forward to going.
