Thank you to the OT/PT staff, the food delivery, nurses, aids, doctors etc. - you go above and beyond. Breaking News: Dr. Michael Carroll Has Retired from Crystal Lake Clinic at Chums Corners…read moreDr. Carroll, enjoy your well-earned retirement! Many of you may already know this, but I only found out this morning--December 19, 2025, at 8:00 AM--when I arrived on time for my annual physical, despite driving through the worst weather of the year. I always make a point of being punctual out of courtesy to the doctor and staff, so as not to waste their time. When I checked in with the receptionist to let her know I had arrived, she informed me that Dr. Carroll had retired on December 2 and that this had been known for the past year. Unfortunately, it was not known to me. I received a message through the patient portal in June 2025 confirming my December appointment with Dr. Carroll. The receptionist claimed I should have received a letter at my home address, but I never did. When I pointed this out, she shifted to saying they had called me--but they hadn't. (Cell phones log all incoming calls, and there was no record of any call from the clinic.) I also asked why I received an automated text a few days before the appointment asking me to confirm it, if these other notifications had supposedly been sent. Her response was that it was just an automated program and "didn't count" as a real confirmation. Why send them at all, then? There was no apology for the inconvenience--just a blunt question: "Do you want to schedule with another doctor?" Naturally, I declined. To add to the frustration, I checked the Crystal Lake Clinic website afterward, and Dr. Carroll is still listed as an active provider there. This made me question the accuracy of what I had been told. Regardless, I've decided to move on and find a new healthcare provider. If you're looking for a clinic with poor patient communication and rude service from the staff, this might be the place for you. It certainly isn't for me.
