Moreover, children benefit when there is competition and there was not one single set played. There were a few intermittent sets played where the instructor was disinterestedly plopping balls to the bungling kids, but that was it. Maybe there is a one-on-one option that the club wants to entertain and so they do not provide as much for the group sessions, given that there are many good reviews. But like I specified earlier, this is for people who've learnt somewhere and not for beginners - at the very least, all the coaches for the beginners seemed more disinterested than interested in their teaching of the group classes.

Rather than having a direct conversation with me as her parent, Taylor was unenrolled following information surrounding a tryout at another gym. From my perspective, the decision appeared to be based on hearsay and assumptions rather than anyone simply picking up the phone and speaking with me first. After three years of our family investing time, money, trust, and Taylor pouring countless hours into this program, we deserved that basic professional courtesy. What makes this even harder is that Taylor genuinely loved Pearland Elite and absolutely adored her coach ( Kelly) . This was her gymnastics home for three years. These coaches and teammates were a major part of her childhood as she was home schooled there, so the way everything ended is something that will likely remain a core memory for her and unfortunately, not for the right reasons. In my opinion, the decision made by Tasha and Nick to unenroll my daughter felt emotional and reactive, rather than thoughtful and centered around an athlete who had been loyal to their program for years. A conversation could have changed the entire way this situation was handled. Exploring another gym was never about disrespecting her coaches or forgetting everything Pearland Elite had done for Taylor. It was about being parents and doing our due diligence for a child who has serious goals in this sport. Parents should be able to explore opportunities, ask questions, attend a tryout, and determine the best path for their child without fearing their child will immediately be removed from a program based on secondhand information. I also had heard of interactions with Nick that made me uncomfortable, including comments that I personally perceived as racially inappropriate and insensitive. Combined with how this situation was handled, it changed the way I viewed the leadership of the gym. Taylor worked hard, competed, represented Pearland Elite proudly, loved her coaches, and gave that program three years of her childhood. Regardless of where an athlete ultimately chooses to train, that level of dedication deserves respect, compassion, professionalism, and at minimum a conversation with her parent. We have moved forward and I am grateful Taylor is continuing her journey in an environment that aligns with the direction she wants to go. But I will always wish her chapter at Pearland Elite had been allowed to close with the same love and respect that she gave them for three years. It wasn't simply that our relationship with the gym ended. It was the way they chose to end it that I will never agree with.

Looking for swimming locations that offered adult lessons I located The Aquatic Academy. Holly is just the nicest person you would ever want to answer your questions. I am extremely disappointed with how my son was treated yesterday by his teacher. I signed my 3…read moreyear old son up a few weeks ago and he loved the class. He's been having a hard time fitting in with the other kids because he was the only boy in the class and he has never been in a class type setting. He's a kid and gets loud when he's excited. Yesterday I watched as he and a few of the girls yelled back and forth at one another "MY TURN". While I understand she has to "correct" them she had no right to do what she did. The teacher was visibilly annoyed by him and went up to my son and grabbed him by the arm and walked him across to the other side. This made me FURIOUS. She sees me watching and completely changes her demeanor. My son was singled out every single class simply for being loud and energetic. There was a girl there that was mean to him and would tell him he couldn't be where she was so my son would get upset and yell stuff like "we're supposed to take turns" or "it's my turn"... and it never failed. Instead of asking what happened or what's wrong she (the teacher) scolded him. He's only three years old, he doesn't know how to regulate his emotions. My son loved his classes and looked forward to them every week, but I will not be taking him back after what I saw. I refuse to pay another cent just for them to treat him poorly. I emailed yesterday about this incident and I still have not heard back. Other reasons why we decided to cancel: - They are not very flexible. If kid gets sick less than 24 hours before your class they won't let you make up the class. Which sucks because kids don't get sick on a schedule and we can't know 24 hours before to be able to plan accordingly. - There is only one teacher, so she can't really focus on each kid enough for them to retain much. - Not much communication from the people working there as far as their policies and stuff like that. - place is also dealing with a roach issue. We've seen roaches in the restroom the past few visits.

Its clean, shiny, modern design allows a lot of natural light come through the windows. There are rows and rows of cardio and weight machines, free weights, several benches, maybe 3 squat racks on the first floor. There are also several basketball courts that double-times as pickleball and table tennis areas too. Head to the second floor for an indoor track separated with jogging/walking lanes that tour around more cardio equipment + an area to stretch and do free weights/floor exercises. Fans of group fitness classes will have to pay for semester passes, but they have endless choices of yoga, circuit training, cycling, pilates, bootcamps, and even tai chi classes, plus those specifically for older adults! Members of the community (non-students) can also nab a membership here too, so it's a great choice with an amazing price to stay active! My first visit with my dad today really impressed me and I can't wait to come back for another workout next time I'm in the area :D The 2nd floor is definitely quieter if you like your space (and colder!). They keep it well ventilated with the AC and Big A** Fans (that's a real brand, I'm not joking). Views through the large windows are great with fields in the back (you can spot families of deer wandering around!) or big blue skies in the front if weather permits. Lots of free lockers with locks to store your stuff. The restrooms are clean, and the lockers have several showers too. There's apparently a small sweat towel service! And you can check-out equipment like basketballs at the front desk too. Personal training is also available. There is also a grab and go cafe at the first level and tongs of nooks and places to sit and study. There's no dearth of plugs either. Free public wi-fi. You can find indoor study rooms and outdoor patios with tables on the second level to hang out and work on things. *dreamy sigh* Downsides I can think of: no swimming pool. And they close really early Friday-Sunday at 6 pm~ UH Clear Lake students get free membership, but otherwise community members can start working out for $25 monthly. A parking badge/slip is $5 monthly (giant parking lot). Only 2 guest passes per semester. If you're just in the area, a day pass is just $5-- check it out! ^-^b
