Well 3 weeks in i can already feel discomfort in my knees so i let them know that this is not a good long term option for me and would not be continuing my membership past the first month. I was suppose to have until april 5th to work out but my class reservation accounts were all blocked out because my membership was canceled even though i am paid through april 5th. They also gave me free week passes and i gave them a name and they have harrassing that person non-stop every day. Totally regret giving them anyones info. The only reason it even gets 2 stars is because the coaches have been great.

Called Sammie to schedule my appointment and she was able to get me in right away. You have to buzz to get in and once you step inside the tranquil and relaxing ambience helps to relax you. I got setup and relaxed inside my pod. If you focus on your breathing you have a better chance of remaining in the pod the whole 30 minutes. Felt like I sweated out a lake and was a little drained (pun intended) afterwards. Relaxed for a little bit and drank some more water before hearing more about the color of my toxins and the benefits of the pods - experiencing it I already understood the benefits of it. It was shortly afterwards when it hit me and I just felt really really good - I highly recommend going and giving it a try - plan it if you are so that you get the most benefit from it. I worked out at this intimate and private gym in Pearland on a Monday at 6:30 p.m. Since it's a small gym, you get in differently than you would expect. After downloading an app, your phone acts as the conduit to unlock the door to the gym. From there, the world is your oyster. When I first arrived, I was alone. Ten minutes in, one of the trainers, Brandon, arrived for a session he had with one of his clients. If you're used to massive gyms like 24 Hour Fitness like I am, this is a much different experience. A lot less equipment, and you don't have amenities like a sauna, basketball court, swimming pool, etc. What you get in return is a couple of things. Privacy. You're not fighting over equipment and surrounded by people. It's also super clean. The equipment are well maintained, just like the gym as a whole. There is complimentary water. Energetic music playing. And here's the best part... they have some pretty advanced equipment. We're talking touch screen weight training machines with lots of different exercises available. I've never seen anything like it! It's one of those things you have to try out for yourself to fully comprehend. It was awesome.

Of course he was nowhere to be seen, but one of the managers heard me, and liked it so much that she changed the name to "Coppinger Family YMCA." Not one of my favourite YMCA locations by any stretch of the imagination. They were friendly enough at the desk although some of the employees were less friendly. It seems like a bit of a free-for-all with kids running all over the place. The workout space is pretty cramped and it does get pretty busy. A lot of Houston area YMCAs are very busy but this one feels like it doesn't have the space to handle it. They don't have nearly as much equipment for lifting as the downtown location either, but I would be okay with that if it wasn't so claustrophobic and busy, at any time of day I've been here. Employees are friendly, so I'll bump it up to a 4 star.

The main entrance room has fridges stocked up with macro-friendly meals and snacks as well as energy drinks, protein shakes, etc. They also have Iron Sight merch that you can purchase. Right when you walk in (and even from outside), you can hear the music. Even with noise cancellation, you can still hear the gym's music so if that's not your thing, this gym might not be for you- it's all rap and latin music so at least it's not like a Planet Fitness playlist lol. This gym is very spacious (8400 sqft). There's a powerlifting side with lots of combo racks and 5 (I think) deadlift platforms. There's plenty of bars (TSS, OHP, etc) with all the kilo weights. Even when the gym is at its busiest, I never had to wait that long to get a rack. There's also a bodybuilding side where there's plenty of machines and dumbbells to workout with. And in the far corner, you have cardio machines and turf space to warm up. As for amenities, there are only two bathrooms and the only light source inside is a LED strip light (dark green). Personally, I like brighter bathrooms so I can check up on myself in the mirror before stepping back in the gym. I also wish there was an extra table or space to put my clothes down for when I change. But in one of the bathrooms, they have extra deodorant and perfume which is going to come in real handy because this gym does not have AC and the summers in Houston are brutal. The only places where this gym has AC is the main entrance room and the posing room (yay for posing room)! In terms of pricing, the initiation fee is expensive ($100) but the monthly membership is $65 and they offer discounts to students and first responders which is nice. In terms of the gym itself, I would give it a 4/5 but the workers and owner are 5/5! The staff here are all extremely friendly and always make you feel so welcome. Not to mention, everyone who works out here is always more than happy to spot/support you!
