I have been a member of Republic Fitness for about 6 months now. The best thing about this gym is the proximity to offices downtown. I take the train into the city to North Station, get a workout in, and then walk to my office. I appreciate not having to commute well out of my way for the gym and this is one of the best parts of my day. The staff is very nice and the gym is clean and well kept. There are a ton of dumbbells and cardio machines. The weight lifting machines aren't as plentiful, but you're still able to get some reps in, especially if you go early in the AM (I'm usually there before 7). The locker rooms are good and spacious enough -- I've never had to wait for a shower and there is always room to get ready. Thanks to Republic for helping me stay consistent with my fitness! PS - the check-in process is also very smooth and easy, you just sign in through a Apple wallet badge and you're in! read more

Extremely unprofessional and unorganized , don't really have much else to say, most these reviews must be from admin or employees because these ppl are extremely unprofessional, I have even bumped into a few of their past employees who confirmed and it come from the top and trickles down from what I've heard go to a more affordable gym, they have way better gyms that are budget friendly, their facility is nice, but the juice isn't worth the squeeze read more

All I ever get from this place is notifications about things not working or the gym being closed. It's constant. Curiously, I've never gotten any outreach saying "hey, we're sorry that there have been so many disruptions to your very expensive membership, here's a refund for all the times you wanted to use the facilities but couldn't". Up front staff are dismissive and more focused on their personal conversations than offering a welcoming environment, with the exception of one girl whose name i wish i could remember. The locker room and spa amenities are like an Airbnb scam-- beautiful in photos, itty bitty, cheaply done, and always broken in person. This gym is way too expensive to be as mediocre as it is. Just another example of the "here, damn" economy where business owners resent the fact that they have to go through you to get your money. Very glad we're moving in May and can bid this whole company good riddance. read more

Wow-- I love this place. I've been looking for a new gym and considering a few of the high-quality gyms around Boston. After narrowing it down to Equinox and Republic Fitness, I decided to do trials at both. Equinox was nice, but Republic Fitness truly impressed me. Republic Fitness has all the features you'd expect at a nicer gym (new workout equipment, clean locker room, etc.) But it was the staff that made me sign up for a full membership immediately. From my first day, Lindsey was very helpful showing me around, and all the trainers seemed friendly and helpful. And the front desk-- amazing! Rooska and Tanisha are both incredibly friendly and supportive. While I found other gyms exuded an attitude of detached "coolness", Rooska and Tanisha led the way in making Republic Fitness feel warm and inviting. So glad I found this place! read more

Tuesdays with Tara! GF Tabata is an intense, kick-ass 30 minutes class. When I first signed up I was a bit wary that it's so short- how can I get a good workout? Halfway through the class I understood and couldn't wait til the 30 mins was up. There lots of cardio and jumping involved. No weights involved. The only thing we used was the "steps" thing. I also did the GF Body pump class with alex, if you are new you will probably get lost while working out because it's kind of quick, but if you are in the second row you can see what everyone else around you is doing! We used weights in this class and it was my first time doing a bar type of weight lifting. Will go to a few more of these so I can get a hang of it! The gym itself is so clean, and the equipment is very nice. It wasn't packed when I came and I appreciate that. Nothing is more stressful than not being able to find a spot to lift weights, or an empty machine. The stretching area unfortunately was taken up by 2 people who like never left so I just stretched by the weights. There are showers and lockers for use, even a steamer to steam your clothes! Hit or miss with the front desk, the first couple of times I came the front desk was really nice, the last time I went they were kinda "BLEH" one didn't acknowledge me just ignored me and the other quickly checked me in with a kind of "go away" attitude. read more

I have been a member for 2.5+ years and I cannot say enough positive things about this fitness club. I have belonged to multiple gyms in the past including, LA Fitness, Gold's Gym, Equinox, New Balance Fitness Club and a handful of local gyms and Republic Fitness is still my favorite gym. Pros- Not too crowded (especially on weekends) Olympic platforms Plentiful dumbbells/barbells/bands Turf area TRX bands Friendly Staff CLEAN Facilities Fun and positive vibe I can't speak to the classes as I never took part in one, but the gym itself is a very comfortable and positive place to be. There is no judgment or self-absorption in the members or staff of this gym. Everyone is just here to workout and enjoy the environment. The staff and management have been fantastic, nothing short of perfect. They are warm and friendly. The front desk attendants are always attentive and able to help out in any way. The maintenance staff keeps the locker rooms and gym itself sparkling clean - it is always so clean which is one of the biggest things for me in gym selection. I don't write YELP reviews but since the good people at Republic Fitness have delivered such an enjoyable and fun workout atmosphere for me, this was the least I could do. Went here on a Tuesday for a 6:30 PM redline class through ClassPass. The location was easy to get to, close by state street and Aquarium in downtown. When I first walked in, I noticed how sleek and modern the gym was. I was checked in and was told where the women's locker room was. The locker room itself was clean, lots of lockers, showers, and I loved they had a lot of amenities (blow dryers, feminine products, etc). I never shower at the gym, but it's great to see a gym have a good amount of showers so no one has to wait awhile to take one. After I put my belongings away, was told where to go for my class. I passed by the equipment and machine area and the area seemed spacious with a lot of modern equipment and at the time I came, 6:30 pm, after work, it wasn't crowded. The class itself was good, the instructor had never taught redline before, but for her first time, I thought she did pretty good. I bought a heart rate monitor for when I work out and used it for the first time in this class. I definitely got my heart rate up in this class and was able to burn a good amount of calories, but again it all depends on how much you put in, I definitely could've burned more but I was tired by the end and could not give it my all. Will definitely keep this class at part of my repertoire of classes that I go to for hiit type of workouts! read more

It is extremely difficult to terminate the membership. I regretted it so much that I should have read the reviews below when I was cancelling mine. I was moving to another city and wanted to cancel my membership. I went to the front desk to cancel my membership, and I also called afterwards to confirm that my membership was terminated. I did ask for confirmation email or receipt but the person I talked to told me that the membership was already terminated and I would not receive any email. However, I still received the bills for several months even after I left Boston. I called the manager, but he said they did not receive any instructions from me. I asked him to check emails (Since I used my firm email account and I have left Boston, I could not access to those emails from my end) or phone records, but he told me that they did not have any emails from me and they did not record phone calls. Without proof, I could not get my money refunded. UPDATE: I found the email requesting the cancellation of the membership using my personal account and forwarded it to the manager as the proof. I am waiting for the response. read more

I cannot say enough about this gym. I just joined but I am so impressed already. The facilities are beautiful, including the locker rooms. They provide lockers (no lock needed), toiletries, blow dryers, towel, you name it - they have it! The equipment is top notch and there is plenty of space to get a great workout in. I took the VIBE cycling class and it was AWESOME, totally kicked my butt. The staff has also been super friendly. I go in the morning (7am) before work and it is not crowded at all. Did a free intro 3 day workout. Was going to sign up and was chatting with the guy at front desk that was helpful and I had some questions on Annual Fee. A "trainer" came out from his office and literally asked me "what my problem was?!". Huh. Has to be the worst sales person in the world. The facilities and the employees are nice, but beware when you try to terminate your membership. I joined under a promotion that the gym did at the end of May - they told me that I could try the gym for 30 days and cancel without any issue if it didn't work out. I already had one gym membership and wasn't sure I needed another one, but the guy made it sound really easy and risk free, so I joined. Unfortunately that hasn't been the case. I had to reach out to the gym several times before anyone ever responded to me with respect to canceling. When I did reach someone, they told me I had to come in person in order to cancel. When I got there, they tried to tell me that I was terminating the contract and wanted to assess a cancellation fee against me. Once I explained that the guy I joined with told me that I could cancel within thirty days of joining without issue, she explained that the membership deal I referenced wasn't reflected on my account, but that I had obviously joined under those pretenses, and that she would let me cancel the membership under those terms. Three weeks later, I noticed a charge on my credit card from the gym. I called to ask why they had charged my account. First, they told me that the charge was because I hadn't canceled within thirty days. When I said that I had canceled within the allotted time, they told me instead that they assessed me a fee for maintaining a credit card on file instead of putting in my bank information for an ACH transfer. I explained that the contract was terminated several weeks earlier and that they had no reason to bill me for anything at all, and that under those circumstances, it was unimportant what type of payment information was on file. They told me that a manager would call me to address my concerns. After another two weeks without response, I reached out again. This time, the clerk told me that the manager was not willing to make an "exception" for the charge. I explained that this was not an "exception," and that they had no reason to assess a fee related to a billing issue to my account, particularly when the membership was terminated before any billing cycle had been completed. Now, I am again waiting for the manager to call me back. This ordeal has continued for over a month. I was excited to join at first, but now I couldn't regret the decision more. UPDATE: The manager did call me back a few days later and refunded the charge they had assessed me. read more

I was really happy when Republic opened and I was able to up my Healthworks membersip for a nominal fee to include access to Republic, which is close to work. I'm thrilled to have a gym to go to before work without having to pay for a second full membership. Facilities and equipment are very nice,and classes are great, but the locker rooms were not well thought out. In this downtown location, a lot of people are on the same general schedule, and so the locker room gets super crowded in the morning and at lunchtime. There can be long lines for the shower and even worse, crowding to get to the locker and when trying to get dressed. Fortunately, folks are generally veryy nice and we make room for each other.Still, this could have been better planned. read more

This gym is AWESOME! The people are so friendly, the trainers are helpful, and the people who managed my account were amazing. I never had an issue at all with this gym, and I would recommend it to anyone. The best part is that it's never super packed. I go at peak hours after work, and I've never had an issue with finding a place to work out (using the racks, the turf area, anywhere!). The classes are high energy and really fun too. I tried almost all of them, and I enjoyed them all! The locker rooms are beautiful, and the gym itself is just really well-kept. If you work or live in Boston, it's absolutely perfect! read more

Went here this morning through classpass to try out the 6:45 tabata class. Absolutely beautiful studio and very friendly front desk staff helped me get signed in and explained where everything was - maybe 3 min. Locker room has locks, towels, blow dryers and toiletries. Very nice! Gym itself is split between cardio machines and weight area. They also have stretching zones. The group fitness and cycle studios are separate rooms. No complaints One of my new class pass favs! read more

Great place to workout and the facility is fantastic. The weekends are the best for training and to enjoy a not very crowded gym. The gym has great management with Sarah PaliottiI who is very helpful with training advice as well as creating an amazing friendly training atmosphere. They hired a new trainer Kalin who teaches the Belgium Bag workout which i tried and it is real tough but great. The front desk with Christine and Mayuri are always super friendly and very welcoming. Great classes I plan on starting to fully utilize starting January of the new year. They have plenty of cardio and great machines.Hoping they get a versa climber one day. Trainers are very friendly and knowledgeable. David the boxing instructor super friendly guy and great to get workout tips from. They just expanded the turf area as well . I really love this gym. It is convenient, near my job and although it's not a big space everything you really need for a good workout is available. I tried a few of the short fitness classes which were good. I honestly think they cater to the busy professionals in the area with their class schedules and offerings (i highly appreciate this fact). The locker rooms were always clean and they don't require a lock which is a benefit for those who frequently forget theirs. My only negative point on this gym is the lack of responsiveness from the staff. I emailed a few times regarding an issue I needed their help solving and got no response which in this day and age is like receiving a text and ignoring it (WE ALL HATE THIS!). Otherwise, the people I personally interacted with FACE TO FACE (because to my point not really responsive otherwise) were all very pleasant including the personal trainers and front desk employees. P.S. I am still waiting to get that issue resolved or at least an update a WHOLE WEEK LATER. Will update soon as I get an answer. If I was to rate the facilities and services or more - this would be closer to a 4. Service however is my main issue. When I Joined, I opted for the 80 dollar/month membership and made sure to ask that although this typically allows access after 6pm, that I'd be able to attend classes that start at 5-5:30. I was told that this wouldn't be a problem. A few months ago the gym sent out an email about charging people 10 dollars per entry into the club if it was before the 6pm time slot. I canceled my membership and set it to terminate as soon as I could an informed management about this but nothing was said or done to explain or elaborate why I was told one thing and now being told another. The only thing that was "offered" was to upgrade to the 130 dollar membership which to me just is way too expensive. When I had gone with a guest pass to initially sign up, I was basically bombarded with phone calls and emails so often I had to physically tell the people contacting me to please stop because I like the gym but the constant communication was deterring me from wanting to join. In addition to that, I continued receiving email blasts to become a member long after joining. read more

I love this place. The staff and personal trainers are fabulous; knowledgeable; accommodating and friendly. The classes are challenging without being intimidating and the scheduling is very convenient. In addition, you can have a personal trainer, exercise in a small "team" environment or just do your own thing. There is state of the art equipment at your disposal. Unnecessarily expensive with difficult (edit: hard to reach) customer service. I signed up on the $1 enrollment fee for the $80 monthly fee. When I signed onto the membership, I figured it entailed similar agreements as the other gyms I have joined (I have joined 3 gyms in the last 3 years since I recently just moved). However, there are a lot of catches in your agreement. The sales person neglected to inform me that it was a 12-month commitment and that there was also a $50 extra payment for paying in credit card (in fine print of course). He also neglected to tell me that access for the Basic Membership is restricted from 6pm to closing (which I didn't mind so much since I can only workout after work hours). Only some group classes are included and those fill up pretty fast, plus most of their classes occur during the day, so really only 2-3 classes are available per day to me. Though I take responsibility for that because I should have read the contract in full while I was there but I was in a hurry and the promotion was expiring that day. I read the contract in full when I went home and saw that I could cancel my membership within 3 days as per MA law. I went back the next day and they offered me a 1 month waive, that if I went to the gym 8 times that month, I could cancel the membership within the 30 days without repercussion (not paying the $200 cancellation fee). However, I decided against that (still within the 3 day period) and went back to cancel my contract. There was no one there to help me since it was the Friday of Labor Day weekend so I gave in a written cancellation notice to the front desk receptionist (which is valid by MA law). I called in today (edit: Tuesday) to follow up on my cancellation but was told that I would have to speak with the manager. However, she has been busy the whole day and now am just waiting for a response. (Edit: I had called back at least 3 times to just be told that the manager will reach out to me soon). As far as the gym goes, it's clean, close to Downtown and luxurious - they give you bath towels to use, day lockers, and fancy soap. But I can get access to the same equipment, lockers and showers for half the price a month at my other gym. Another draw back is that you only have access to one gym unless you get the Group Membership which is $140 a month. My climbing gym membership costs me half that price and I have access to 3 gyms, climbing facilities, gym facilities (with the same kind of equipment , showers, lockers, and yoga classes (granted it's not as convenient as Downtown). Aside from the convenience, the one great upside is that the trainers are great and they do offer a diversity of classes if you are willing to shell out the money and have time for the full membership for all the classes. Edit: The manager finally called back after a few days of waiting. She was polite and was as accommodating as possible. I bumped up the rating from 1 star to 3 stars because she was willing to comply with my cancellation. read more

This gym is absolutely gorgeous. The equipment is brand new and the locker rooms are beautiful. There is a cool "turf" area with monkey bars, heavy vests, ropes, and other bootcamp type equipment. There is a huge variety of classes that are timed perfectly for people who only have an hour or less to get to the gym. The trainers are amazing and the entire staff is incredibly friendly. They always greet me by name. It is my home away from home in the city. I love this place! read more

I have been a member of Republic since July and really love this gym. Great and diverse selection of classes (including yoga, dance fitness, HIIT, spin, bootcamp, strength, etc) and wonderful trainers/instructors! Favorites include the Zumba class on Mondays with Dalia, Tabata, and the quick 15-minute Core classes. I've also done their Team Train sessions, which are 8 weeks of small group training. As far as trainers go, I highly recommend Yvonne. She always has a smile and a funny joke, but she'll still give you a hard workout! Amenities are nice (blow dryers, showers, lockers with locks, high quality shampoo/conditioner/body wash/lotion, deodorant, combs, razors) and the locker rooms and gym facilities are all very clean and pretty. The other reviews do a good job summarizing the facilities available - no complaints here. Management is also good - every interaction that I've had with the trainers, front desk staff, etc has been great, and they are very good at responding to customer feedback quickly. read more

I joined Republic in March during a promotional month so the joining fee was only a dollar. It was located downstairs my building so it would give me no excuses not to go to the gym during lunch or after work. I use to go to the BSC but even the closest one at South Station was 10 minutes away, precious time taken from a workout if you can only fit in 30-40 minutes. The membership fees are definitely not cheap even with a corporate discount but it is conveniently located and pushes me to go at least 3-4 times a week to justify what I am paying. You also pay for quality and it's what I would consider as a luxury gym with some very technologically advanced workout equipment. They have virtual videos for when you want to do a workout on your own in their fitness studios. With an entrance from the lobby of Two International Place, I don't have to walk outside when it's raining or snowing, an excuse for not going to the gym back when I had to walk over to the BSC. The gym itself isn't very big. There are only two floors with the first allocated to the locker rooms and front desk. The workout area is on the 2nd floor. There are lots of cardio machines, an area for weight training, one for stretching and another corner for small group training. Even during rush hour, there is always enough machines available for use with most equipment in good to excellent condition. They have a studio for group fitness classes and one for cycling. I don't have much to complain about. The locker rooms are on the smaller side so they can get jammed up during the lunchtime rush but everyone is friendly and we all try to make room for one another. Lots of amenities (eg. shampoo, body wash, towels, toiletries) so you don't have to bring anything. The doors on the lockers are also equipped with a combination lock so you don't need to bring your own. More importantly it's clean so if you're a germ freak like me, that's a huge win! I wish they had a wider variety of dance classes like BollyX, Hip Hop, etc. but there's only one fitness studio so there can only be one class at any given hour. It's not a deal breaker and I'm still a fan of the place but would be great to see that on the schedule at some point in the future. read more

Had a great experience actually at the gym for a trial but when I could not join the gym due to logistical reasons they have charged my card twice for a membership I never had. I even communicated with two managers of the gym to let them know I would unfortunately not be able to join. When they said everything was all set I thought it would be easy but they charged my card for October membership, still have yet to refund my money and now just charged me for January.
