Great pool plenty of space for laps. Offer pool aerobics m-w-f.

The fun is running through the lobby to attend water aerobics on Monday, Wed., and Fridays, they also have one on Sunday mornings. The locker rooms could use a facelift, but they are fully functional and clean. I like that there are plenty of lockers and they just recently changed out the hairdryers. They have 2 counters with long mirrors to do your hair. The showers are adequate and they supply you with a soap/shampoo in a wall dispenser in each shower stall. The Wang Y has a long history of serving the Chinatown Community, it is located in the heart of Chinatown, you will notice this as you enter the facility. People are nice here and the staff are nice. I have made a friend or two. They offer special times on the calendar every once in a while for seniors for Mah Jong, or another kind of get together. It is one big happy Y family. The water in the pool is alway above 82 degrees with an air temperature of at least that. The pool has steps to get in and out of as well as a ladder. Swimming lanes are plenty about 6 not crowded. WATER AEROBIC CLASSES: Aerobic classes are taught by several different excellent instructors, all good classes with different styles. You will get as little or as much of a workout that you want by putting the level of effort into the movements. There are options for everyone in the class to participate at their own level with guided excellent instructions. No swimming is needed for water aerobics, we stay in the shallow part of the pool. You do need a bathing cap, and if you don't have one you can purchased one at the desk for 10.00. It is a cloth kind, so your hair underneath is going to get wet, if you want a latex cap, shop for one. I can honestly say, I am walking, moving and feeling better since the second week of pool aerobics. Coming since October 2019.

Highly recommend the chair yoga class every Friday at 10 am. Nice group of seniors with an excellent teacher.

In my own personal experience, I think that this place is a bit run down and needs to update equipment and place as a whole.

Nora for the win. This is a downtown YMCA in the heart of Chinatown. For the price, awesome.

The amenities felt modern, and the sauna was definitely my favorite part - especially with the eucalyptus towels. The Pilates class was nice too, more of a recovery-style workout. Still deciding on the membership, but it's definitely a good spot.

Every morning, this huge (male) trainer takes up multiple squat racks, multiple cable points, and 3-4 boxes. It's not a big space, and he keeps things set up so you can't even work in. On top of that, another trainer works out every morning and takes up another squat rack, all of the area in front of it including blocking a machine, and shoots dirty looks if you get in ~her way~ Don't forget, they don't clearly label fragrance free areas in the locker room AND they scold you if you don't tell them that you had to leave and use your epi pen. Bet that had something to do with the membership thing too. Is it discrimination? Maybe. Overall, if you are someone who doesn't want to rock the boat or lift heavy weights or take up any amount of equipment, you'll probably be happy here. But expecting the treatment, access, and equipment worth the price is apparently a death sentence. Do better, Healthworks. Your biases and intolerance are showing.

I must agree that the monthly…read moremembership even with their annual fee of $39 is a great deal if you are looking for a place to exercise. The perks of having the black card are super. I usually go in with my daughter as a guest and my husband takes his friend as his guest. This is not the type of gym that will provide towels or have a steam room slash/sauna nor will they provide zumba, yoga or any other group classes. No they don't have a pool. Their monthly fee would be much much higher if they would. You would expect that for $10 or 19. 99 a month the place would be filthy but we always comment on it being the cleanest PF we've visited. My only critique would it be how in many occasions you come in and the crew behind the front desk do not even look at you to the face and acknowledge you're signing in. they are usually on their phones watching something or texting, if not they are hiving conversations amongst themselves. it's sad because sometimes when can have a question or concern and they might not seem approachable. I had a very bad experience with one of the employees just by the way he answered to my question. he and some of them seem to have a rough attitude. In the same way, I give props to a staff who mentioned he only works on weekends. He was extra nice to me and my husband with our concerns, very professional and welcoming. We mentioned how we appreciated him welcoming us by our names as we signed in, so much so that we went back to him and we're able to clarify our doubts on memberships and using the "relaxation zone". We mentioned our experience with other employees and he appologized for the experience and told us how management is working on making the customer service experience much better there. He was very polite and ethic about his fellow co-workers praising them for being hard workers and making us see (without underlining it) that them not acknowledging us or being on their phones constantly is really a minor thing compared to how they are good workers at keeping the gym in tip top shape . I don't want to be wrong but both me and my husband think his name was George or Gregory. We will certainly look for him when we come back in town and hopefully see him or people like him during weekdays. Our experience that weekend was excellent specially when, on Sunday, we found him early morning (7am) with the same high spirit. Many should take a flash customer service tutorial with this gentleman. Overall all the PF we have visited, serve our needs of keeping active.

How could that be, a component so integral to infection control, and no back-up supply. What a way to nurture non-compliance with the users of equipment that should be wiped down, following each use, to have no sanitizing wipes. This is not BSC's first trip to this rodeo. They are regular guests at this rodeo. Again, on Sunday's, no paper towel in the Men's Room. How could that be? An Absentee Landlord? Inadequate staffing on Sunday's? Poor supervision/management? Irresponsible employees? And, as is consistently the case, the large lockers in the Men's Room are paralyzed by parasites who take those lockers over, for days and weeks at a time. I don't know what it is with gyms in the Back Bay, but, Planet Fitness, on Newbury Street, and sometimes New York Sports Club on Boylston Street, have air that does not circulate. Given the essence of body odor that comes with physical exertion, and working out, the air in these places should constantly be circulating. That's not always the case. The Boylston Street BSC has a beautiful, well maintained indoor pool. You have to reserve lane times, and the pool is closed to an outside contract, young children's swim camp, at certain hours of the day.
