I have had Republic for residential service for trash and recycling for several months. On 03/27/26, they decided to pick up my trash but not my recycling. Noticing this, I contacted them via phone and chat. The first customer service rep said the driver claimed the receptacle wasn't out. I told them I placed the can in the same spot the day before. I've literally placed the cans just in the driveway not far from my mailbox ever since this service started. I later learned they had a photo of the cans exactly where I always put them. They said on the first call they would pick the recycling the next day. I was angry about the driver lying, I called back and asked if anyone would be willing to take notice of the driver's claim that my receptacles weren't in the same spot ready for pick up. I was then told they wouldn't pick it up until Monday. They also advised me the cans had to be about 4 feet away from any obstacle like a mailbox. It would have been nice to know this from the very first time. We now have a driver or his helper who can't be bothered to walk about 5 feet to put it on a machine that does the lifting for them! I am cancelling them and plan to not use them in the future. I found a cheaper and better company. Guess customer service isn't that great, and we like to leave people in the dark about what the pick-up rules are. This is why we don't see many blue trash cans in this neighborhood. Horrid service, have a dumpster instead of cans, every month there is BS fees. Management is always changing your supposed contract length without consent or approval. Today driver dumped only one of two dumpsters at 6am at our Cooperative. This following two missed pickup days. Leadership notified them to cancel services and this is how we are treated in our last 30 days. Different drivers have different thoughts on how full a dumpsters can be, some won't even pick up if top is a bit raised. read more

After my original review, Republic Services asked me to email customer service. I sent two emails and a written letter enclosed with my check; none received a response. I paid the $80 bin removal fee quoted to me by phone, clearly marked the check as final payment in full, and Republic cashed it. The bins were picked up. Despite this, I continue to receive automated collection notices for additional junk "fuel/environmental recovery" and miscellaneous fees. They cashed the check three weeks after I sent it, and this account is settled. Phone calls route customers back to the website, creating a loop with no way to resolve billing errors. They need to improve their reliability, honesty, customer service, and value. This company has zero integrity. They missed my house on a regular pick-up. I contacted them that day, and again the next business day and again the next day. Each time they tell me they'll be here today. But they have not shown up. Yesterday they told me my service was pending cancellation at my HOA's request. So is this why they won't honor their agreement, because they are still under agreement! Tomorrow is my regular pick up again. Their drivers had been friendly and always waved at our little ones. But those guys are gone. Now our drivers are "just doing their job" with little joy to spread around. It's obvious to me that the company has no concern for their staff or their customers. Don't go here. Monday, Feb. 9th, 2026 - - broke the gate - can't get in - hole in garage wall due to not placing the dumpster in the correct spot where there is bumper to protect the outside of the garage - bent the sign that is posted on the gate - twin size mattress stuck at the bottom of the dumpster for over 3 months Wednesday, Feb 11th, 2026 - - morning pick-up - gate still broken - hole still in the wall - sign still bent - dumpster not in the correct place - I moved the dumpster to the correct spot - This 64 year old woman climbed over the almost 6 feet wooden gate - mattress still in the bottom of the dumpster Called the number listed on the dumpster at 4:45 pm and a call center answered. On the phone with them for 26 minutes, put on hold a lot, just so that they can locate the address and so that I could tell them about what had occurred during the Monday morning pick-up. After all of this time, at the very end of the call, I was then told that someone would call me so I can tell them what happened. I asked when I would receive such a call and I was told by the end of the day. The person who works for Republic did the damage so why didn't he/she report the damage. This is a horrible trash company. I live in an HOA community and our trash has not been picked up in over 2 weeks. Not since 1/5/26. When you call customer support, they lie and tell you,"We'll have someone out there tomorrow." We've been told that at least 3 times. They lie, gaslight, and do not honor their word. One thing they do well: pick up the trash on time. What they don't do well is everything related to billing. In the last 3 years, the quarterly charges have doubled. They've evidently taken a page from the local slumlords and have started tacking on miscellaneous fees to gouge as much out of their customers as possible. We're switching to a different service, and Republic is charging us $40 per can (that's $80 because we have trash and recycling) just to pick up their own cans. I couldn't request to stop service on their website, and I couldn't request it through their janky chatbot. I had to CALL them and be on HOLD like it's 1995 to cancel my service. Oh, and their customer service (which again, you have to call) is only open during my work hours. Trash removal is something I do not need problems with and REPUBLIC SERVICES has provided that for 9 consecutive years since 2016. I pay them annually and have kept my weekly cost in line with other companies. Some may advertised a little less but "you get what you pay for" They have never missed a week and on holiday weeks their schedule is delayed 1 day. I have had the same driver (Sr Hernandez) for several years. Their trucks are well maintained, clean and seem to be more quiet than other companies trucks. So a little disappointed here with the pick ups and the times of pick up. Last week the trash pick up showed up at 7am and caught us off guard because we haven't taken the bin out. They never show up this early. Needless to say, they passed several homes on that route and there were several neighbors who haven't placed their bin out just yet. Absolutely terrible service and questionable billing practices. Republic Waste missed BOTH my trash and recycling pickups 4 times in just 6 weeks. When they finally showed up, they charged me a surcharge for having extra bins (which were only full because of THEIR missed pickups!) The surcharge was actually higher than the credit they gave for missing the previous services. When I questioned where this surcharge policy was documented in their Terms & Conditions, their response was "It's not written anywhere, that's just how we've always done it." Completely unacceptable and unprofessional. Save yourself the headache and choose another waste service provider. Let me warn you about a terrible company! Take your money and business some place else. Republic Services cares nothing about customer service at all. They are committed to providing POOR customer service! Last Monday we watched the garbage man who had the route in the Bluffs neighborhood in Saddle Rock Ridge drop our can from the highest point on the truck. This tore off the lid and split the side open about 3 feet. Who does this?! Sure, accidents happen. Then do the right thing and tell the home owner what happened and that you'll bring a new one out. Nope! He drove away quickly acting like nothing happened. I spent two days trying to contact this company by internet and telephone. No luck. Their automated menu is not user friendly. Then I left a note on the same trash can for the garbage guy to inform him and encourage him to bring another can. I even left my number with instructions for him to text me his plan. It's been 3 days and nothing!!! I would change companies yesterday but our HoA sets the trash services. Our hands are tied. We will remove the lid and continue to use the substandard ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE this lousy company provides. Take your business to another place. We are telling all of our friends, family, work colleagues, and church contacts. There is ZERO EXCUSE for any of this to have happened. We fully expect them to and us a bill for the can one day. I have used Republic Services in both residential and commercial settings. I cancelled residential service because the drivers would constantly miss pick ups and getting it fixed on the phone was always a 45-minute ordeal. On the commercial side they use deceptive and unethical business practices to increase profits and trap customers. You may agree to a year contract for dumpster service for a certain price. However, during the year the pricing will increase. Most people are busy and think it must just be an overage charge and pay the bill. Unfortunately, the fine print of the contract says that if you pay the bill you have agreed to the new amount. What is worse, you call to cancel, and they say sure no problem, but do not tell you that you have to send the cancellation to a specific email 60 days before the year end. If you do not cancel in a specific way the contract automatically continues for another year. If you try to cancel after it renews, they say you are responsible for a hefty contract cancellation fee. Horrible unethical company. DO NOT USE!! Update - finally got away from this unethical company by filing a complaint with the BBB. As a settlement, they allowed me to cancel with out penalty. Service continued for two weeks and suddenly with out notice they pull their dumpster on a Friday afternoon. Spiteful action preventing me from getting a replacement. They are not just a bad unethical company, they are evil. read more

Follow-up Review. I received a couple of emails and a couple of phone calls to sort through the service issues. The person I spoke with was much more friendly and accommodating. She resent an email for signature and confirmation that my service would be put on hold with zero monthly fee. I had already gotten an invoice for January service and she quickly refunded the total. Now today, I received another invoice for the February service that is supposed to be on hold. I DONT WANT OR NEED THIS SERVICE. STOP CHARGING ME. They rounded up to the end of the month (from the *6th*) then charged me to pick up their cans- exactly as much as my refund for should have been for November and December (they told me I was SOL on the unused 3 weeks of October). Then they charged me $35.06 in November twice. Got one refunded immediately. Then after arguing with customer Disservice for almost an hour, they grudgingly agreed to send me a check for the other $35. In 4 to 6 WEEKS. Run away. I recently decided to terminate my Service with Republic Trash Services to move to another Colorado Based Company that will cost less than 50% of the Republic Rate. At first the Customer Service Agent was pleasant and helpful. As we were winding down, she abruptly informed me that there would be a $109.00 fee for them to collect my 2 trash bins? I responded that I paid $80 in the beginning to get them, now you're going to charge me $109 to take them back? That's outrageous business practices. All of my neighbors are switching at the exact same time, the same truck would pick all of our bins up at the same time. We were offered to drop them off in Commerce City to avoid the fee, which we will all jointly do. On a side note, some Neighbors were quoted $40 return fee? Others, like me, $109? Republic is the worst service I've ever seen on the roads. This is the second time they have blocked me from getting around them. In Texas, which is where I just moved from, the driver had our gate blocked at 6:45 in the morning. Not a good time to be loading trash! If he would have moved a few inches up we could of gotten by, but he would not move. Needles to say we all had to back up and go out a different way. I haven't been in the Lone Tree, CO area a week and a driver has an area blocked so that nobody can get by and as you can see he doesn't know what to do. The manager of the business comes out and tells him what to do. I honestly think these drivers need some serious training. Management should check into putting your drivers through school. I was recently forced to switch to this company by the city of Lafayette Colorado. We had no choice in the matter and they forced a $30 raise in price for us to take a giant compost bin that I barely need. We got forced into this in August and the very first time they left my recycling . I had to call and they promised to pick up the next day, they did not pick up. Over Christmas they did it again, I did not call. This week they left my compost, called they said "thursday" called again after they did not show up on thursday and they said I was scheduled for friday. Got home friday at 4 pm and guess what? Not picked up. Called and was told saturday. My regular pickup day is tuesday so I think my compost is going to sit out there for 3 more days. Just terrible service and I am almost to the point where compost is going to go in the trash. read more

Bill kept going up until it was over 300$ with no notice on a contract that was signed over 15 years prior and when asked for a copy it was almost illegible and was not the owners signature next to the continuation. These people are crooks. When I tried to cancel it took me over a month talking to just about everyone in the company, then charged us over 800$ to cancel completely. Our bins were never delivered. 6 weeks of phone calls and "escalations" with support didn't provide ANY help or change. We had to leave the trash bags on the curb, and the MANY times that our pickup was missed, neighborhood animals would tear apart the bags and leave a huge mess for me to clean up (Pictured). You can call them as many times as you'd like and nothing will ever actually be resolved. Weeks after cancelling service, Republic bins appeared on our driveway, now that we don't need them.
