Provides commercial dumpster service 2x weekly for a State of Michigan regulated home where pick up is at 3:52 AM in a RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD. Noisy, flashy truck lights and banging the dumpster wake up other homeowners and REPUBLIC won't change time of pick up to a normal time of day that isn't DISRUPTIVE to a person's sleep. You could hire employees who care about providing quality service. Our trash was picked up only 2 out of 4 weeks this month.

They are awful. Almost every week they are delayed a day so our trash sits out over night.

Republic was contracted by Ann Arbor Township for our waste services. We were given 2 large trash bins, brown for routine trash and blue for recyclables. After about 10 years service changed to Waste Management who continued to use the bins provided by Republic. Now after another 10 years or so our brown bin has a crack and needs replacement. WM, who has used the Republic bin the entire decade gave us a new bin but did not pick up the old Republic bin. WM said that they cannot take a competitor's bin and suggested we call Republic. But upon doing so I had to wait 15-20 minutes on hold to be told that I would be connected to a Customer Rep. I was placed on hold again for another 30 to 40 minutes and no one answered. I then called a second time where the phone was on hold for another hour and again no answer. And because they do not answer the person calling cannot leave feedback on the message that comes AFTER your issue has been addressed. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NON-EXISTENT. read more

Absolutely terrible service please DO NOT do business with them. They miss pick ups and say the driver is still doing there route although everyone around you got there trash picked up and then you get missed for a whole week. We had planned to temporarily stop service, planning to resume in 4-5 months. Their driver had left us an unrequested Republic Services blue bin and no receipt or fee for it. Simply dropped it off. Similar to several missed pickups even though we had their blue Republic bin at the curb the night before our scheduled pickup. We were due one final paid pickup and used that to return the blue bin we had never requested. Today, our last paid service day, the Republic driver upended their blue bin, or tote, empyting it next to our driveway of all the refuse that was in it, took their blue Republic Services can and left. Insulting and offensive but more importantly, it reflects the mind set of the Republic Customer Services and their employees. Trash service by a trash company, in more ways than one. The services that we requested were quality services, appreciate the fact that the guys in the truck were so friendly and helpful and went above and beyond and removing the items. The guys in the truck with 2082. Were very helpful. Monday was pouring down rain and cold. After they missed my pick-up for the 4th time this year two weeks ago and after leaving a negative review, I was called and told they would address this with the driver. Not so, as the driver missed by pick-up again on Friday. I called and was told they would send a truck on Saturday. Not so. It is now Monday and my trash is still sitting at the curb. Republic services is horrible. I've had a six yard dumpster with them for 5+ years. The monthly charge has almost doubled over the past year. My contract with them has expired. I've told them via email and phone that I want to discontinue service. They claim they can't discontinue service until I send them a certified letter. Total BS! Wow wish I could give them a zero. We had a local company that picked up our regular cans and they bought them out. For a while they picked up our cans suddenly one day they dropped a big rolling can in my driveway -- easier for them they could pick it up with their automated truck. Fast forward 2 years and the service is poor and the price keeps going up. I decide to move to another local company. First they want to charge me for months because it was the middle of a cycle (even though you will not be picking up my trash) I paid that and suddenly there is a 50 dollar can pick up fee with a 27.64 fuel charge for picking up the can. This company is a huge rip off!! Don't go with me!!! Lots a costs that appear and they say they informed you!! read more

This is the worst garbage pick up service. They missed our pick up at least 4 or 5 times in the time we have been with them. When you let them know on their website, it says they will pick up the next business day. They don't. The garbage sits out there until you drag it back in. Then you try again for the next weeks pick up, if you get service the next week. read more

I was a customer for over 25 years, and now for the past year, they have continued to up their fees, not just a little bit, but ridiculously high ! So, I canceled them and found a trash company right away, which is fantastic, and so much cheaper. So, now I get another invoice in the mail from Republic telling me I am "past due", seriously, - for what?? When I canceled on the phone, customer service NEVER TOLD ME they would bill me for container removal, as I would have been glad to take it to them, and not only that, it looks like they have decided to, oh, well, lets bill her more than that because she is "past due" unbelievable ! Don't you have to get an invoice first before you can be "past due" ?? Be careful if you cancel them, because they may continue to bill you. read more

Awful service! Called and paid for a bulk pick up (mattress) on a Wednesday. The pick up was scheduled for Friday. I called on Friday in the morning after my regular trash was picked up and they said that there would be another truck coming around for bulk pick up. No one ever came to pick it up. The office was closed on Saturday and Sunday. I called on Monday and Tuesday and they said they would reschedule it and it would be picked up but gave no time frame. By Wednesday I told them if it wasn't picked up by the end of the day, I wanted to cancel the order and get my money back. It still wasn't picked up Thursday morning and I canceled my order. The business that operates across the street graciously offered to allow us to throw the mattress in their dumpster (probably because it was such an eyesore to their business!). Absolutely horrible service I had them for about two months and cancel my services because in those two months they picked up my trash twice and that was after I called repeatedly day after day after day for them just to tell me that it will be picked up tomorrow and they never came my trash was literally pouring out of my trashcan and animals were getting in it before they actually came and picked it up they still expected me to pay a cancellation fee I fought with them and was finally able to get all the fees off me and not have to pay anything after talking to many different managers I will never go through them again and I will never recommend them to anybody read more

I requested to discontinue my recycle bin and get a second trash bin, but the bin handling fees are $30 each. So to save 60 bucks for a ten minute drive I'm willing to return one and pickup the other, but no, they won't let you bring your own bin in and pickup the replacement to save $60 for a ten minute drive. Not the most cost effective service on our block. They say the bin return/pickup policy is set by the local service location, but the call center doesn't have their phone number, (?Really the Call Center doesn't have a phone number?). When you call its not local. They miss your pickup and if you don't babysit their workers then you have to wait 4 days for them to come back and pick up your garbage. NEVER had an issue when the City provided the service. The call center people are generally nice expect this twit I spoke to today. Hasn't hit puberty yet at 24 years old. Said I should have called before end of business yesterday instead of 730am today. Sorry Junior, I was busy saving lives. I shouldn't have to watch your employees. 30% bill increase. Then when I called to cancle my service and go with someone 2/3 of the price, they charge $50 to pick up the can that I rent. She made sure to let me know that I only had two price increases in the last two years. Unfortunately they were about 25-30% each. Horrible customer service as well. read more

I'm forced to give one star when I'd really like to give none!! Republic Services is THE WORST garbage collection service in the area. They are constantly raising rates with no explanation. They changed our recycling pick up to every other week without explanation and we're pretty sure they really aren't recycling anyway. When we called to cancel our service, they are charging $60 for us to return our trash cans. Good riddance to bad rubbish! read more

1st Customer service is not only poor it rarely even exists.Phones are not manned adequately resulting in long phone waits until you just give up and hang up..Aside from that their bills constantly are changing and often the pay site is Down so you can't get in to pay your bill, but yet they charge you a late fee each month in addition to a disconnection and reconnection fee.Topped with a unheard of surcharge for them picking up your can unannounced with no warning or notice that your account was a period behind which would result in a pickup and discontinuance.So my last bill in total was $61 and they took my can before i could even pay it.Then after paying it promptly in full i get a bill for another $30 can pickup fee, from more than a month ago.Highway robbery and very poor business practice and customer service.Never will use again!! and if i have to pay this $30 im spending the news everywhere. read more

worse trash company ever! miss my family's house constantly . dump trash all over our road after throwing are cans around. miss our house and claim they would come next week when they are supposed to but trash cans were already full and we had to call and beg for the service. now that we've called and complained and they finally come when there supposed to the honk the horn to basically let us know that they're actually doing there jobs. Worst service ever. Our trash pickup was cancelled due to dangerously low wind chills, which we understood completely; however there was absolutely NO communication regarding when our pickup would resume. We were finally told it would resume on our normal day, and that extra bags were fine due to the lapse...and it sat in front of our house for 4 days (and counting). I called and was told our trash would be picked up today, but came home from work to find it still in the driveway. Only now it is pouring rain, so it is WET as WELL as overflowing. Called again, only to be told that there is literally nothing they can do. No answers and no clue when our garbage will be picked up. When I asked who I could speak to to get some answers, I was told that my comments would be "forwarded to their central office." One star is too high of a rating for the customer service. read more

I made the mistake of thinking of switching to Republic and then changed my mind and had to call them repeatedly to tell them not to start service. They never picked our trash up but yet they kept sending me a bill! You have to deal with someone in California so they aren't local like I thought they were. Do not hire Republic if you can help it. I live in western Wood County, Ohio and cancelled my Heartland Disposal service due to the Republic appearing to be cheaper. It took them roughly four weeks to pick up my trash on the scheduled day. I had to submit "missed pickup" requests every week. After a few angry calls they finally got it right, but went right back to missing my address over the last two weeks & not even responding to the missed pick up requests. I cancelled today and went back to my old LOCAL service. Their customer service agents are friendly, and their website is put together well. Their operation, at least in this area, is terrible. Not worth the cheaper price. Your better off keeping your dollars local and using you local trash collection company if that's an option. read more

I cancelled my service because Republic Services broke their contract by not supplying service to my home on the 1st day of their billing cycle. I first called and was informed by their representative that it was my job to contact them regarding their employee skipping my street. I wrote them a kind letter, cancelling service due to their breaking a contract I was unaware of and, that I had chosen another supplier that would service my home at 1/3 the cost of their fees. I informed them that I do not feel obligated to pay a bill where no service was granted. No Service and no pay. We are even. Three months later, I received a letter from their inside collection agency demanding payment. I will pay as it is not worth my good credit standing and if I can inform more potential customers and save them of this poor business tactic, it is worth it. When you force customers to pay unearned fees...it is stealing. There is no written contract before you begin service, you are not informed and, do not sign any document. When you sign up for service, your bill comes with a contract on the back in small print, that only protects Republic. You must contact them 30 days before they decide to send the next 3 month billing that is due in advance of service, whatever date they choose to print the bill. Do not use this company.... Countryside Disposal is $30, Republic Services $104, same service. Check it out, they only receive 1 star from other customers as well. read more

I was a Republic Services customer for at least 15 years. Over time the prices went up and the service quality had declined. Missed pickups, partially emptied trash cans, poor customer service etc. In August we were informed that they will only take 1 container and each additional will be $6.00 each. My billing cycle ended 09/30/20. Tried to call 3 times on 9/30/20 and could not get in contact with a live customer representative. Called 8:00 AM 10/1/20 to cancel. I was informed they will only cancel in the current month and would not cancel it till 10/31 so I will be billed for October even though I have had no pickups in October. My Republic bill for the last quarter was $136.10 after all the administrative/Fuel recovery and misc. fees. Plus they are going to charge me $30 to pick up "their" 96 gallon container. My new company charges $60 per quarter without the extra fees and container limits. Several neighbors use their service and are very satisfied with them. What a relief it will be when October is over and I will hopefully be rid or Republic Services. read more

Shocking customer service! I cancelled service after my trash sat outside my house for 5 days, and day after day the promised pick up never happened. I kid you not. Every time I called, I was promised pick up next day, and never happened. No one was apologetic, and in fact kept accusing me of not having the garbage out on time. It sat there for FIVE DAYS! What a terrible company! I frequently receive my bill one day before its due. When I have asked why it takes almost 2 weeks from the day the invoice is dated until it arrives at my house the only answer I have gotten is to check with my post office or that I could enroll in automatic bill pay. I live on a residential road in a neighborhood with several children, the drivers of the vehicles go at least 40 down the street (speed limit is 25), I have complained directly to the company several times with no resolve. My breaking point was today when I called to pay my bill I received Saturday December 14, 2013 that stated it was due no later than December 15, 2013 (they are closed Saturday and Sunday so consequently it was late) and while on the phone with the operator taking my information I could hear another employee talking about a caller they just got off the phone with. When I asked to speak to a manager at first I was told yes but soon was told she was away from her desk and I could only leave her a voice mail. read more
