UGH We are a corporate account, been with them for years. Since the Great Ice Storm in February 2022 in Columbus Ohio, they have been AWFUL. They just don't show up. And they aren't proactive about telling you so. Customer Service at the call center has been OK, but they never seem to have the correct answer or current information. I was told today that the truck was 4 stops away and would pick up today. That's been 4 hours ago. I understand the drivers work from 2 AM to 2:30 PM and can't go over that due to federal regulations per the Call Center. Excuses have been from broken truck to short staffed to holiday to weather. At some point, would you not get caught up? And ya don't have a back up truck?? Extremely disappointed with them as they once were like clockwork. I do not recommend Republic Waste. read more

My experience is that this company is sketchy with tricky verbiage in contracts, sneeky sales tactics, lacking customer service, poor and slow response. Escalating fees and shady, smooth talking reps that look and sound like used car salesmen desperate to meet a monthly quota. "Run Forrest! Trouble stared june of 2018. Missing pick up called said will be picked up next day but never happens. customer service is just a call center for messages.Then end of july i was on with customer service and told my route was cancelled but yet no phonemail or letter from republic telling me this. I was paid up thru august was told refund was coming have not seen it yet. Filed a complaint wit BBB republic "says" they will return my money. Today i get an email from republic saying my nest quarter payment is due.HA HA. There price only jumped $30.00. This company use to be good now worst company i have ever had dealings with. Found a local company that is $40.00 cheaper mer quarter and is here every week. Best i can say is consumer beware. read more

I wish I'd checked Yelp before I signed up for this "service". The amount of time I've spent on calls to get my trash picked up 2 times in the past 2 months, I could have driven my trash to the dump myself. I was credited 3 weeks worth of pickups after a 3-week delay in pick-ups with multiple calls. Well, they told me they'd credit my account, then I was missed again and called the next day. Then I checked the mail and found my trash bill, which had NOT been credited AND I'd been charged for the extra bag pick-up that they said would be waived because it wasn't MY fault I have extra trash when it's not picked up for 3 WEEKS! (Still not sure I've actually been credited for this.) After calling them again today for a missed pick-up AND missed "return" pick-up I'm done. I haven't paid for a service apparently, I've paid to talk to their customer service every week. read more

Absolutely the worst trash and pickup service that I've had. They are always behind schedule and this past week, since our community collectively changed to Rumpke due to Republic being unreliable and inconsistent, Republic have not come out to do the last pick up and collect their bins. It's been 5 business days now and the whole community still has the cans sitting in their driveway. read more

At this point feeding the wildlife. First miss reported picked up next day. This past weeks trash still curbside with agents telling me everyday we're sorry someone's on the way to get it. The last call in worked really well getting put on hold and being ignored. After taking the dogs for a walk and putting the trash outside imagine that I hung up realizing they don't have solutions for customers. My schedule is Tuesday if it's not picked up again I'll be demanding a full refund and switching services. read more

History first -- we have been with this company (and it's predecessor) since 2008. Up until this year, their service was excellent and would have garnished a 5-star rating each year. I don't know WHAT happened over the past year, but they have certainly dropped the ball on many occasion -- tried to double bill and actually shut off our service for a few weeks until we called to let them know that they ALREADY CASHED our check TWO MONTHS AGO that covered our services for a year! They have missed our trash pick-up a few weeks as well. We had the same worker pick up our trash for several years, but he left at the end of last year and we have a different guy. Now I think I know why he left, this company is going downhill. I'm stuck with them until our paid time expires. But I definitely will be dropping them and find a different sanitation company for this purpose next year. read more

I wish I had read these reviews before choosing Republic. When we bought our new house, the previous owner had been a customer. So I called Republic and was told the cost would be around $90 for 3 months. That sounded along the lines of what I had paid in Missouri. They picked up my trash twice. 2 TIMES AND I RECEIVED A BILL FOR $156! There was $30 for bringing a container. $5.95 administration fee..???!!. And $39.34 fuel/environmental fee. I was NEVER advised of these extra charges. I immediately called to cancel and reluctantly had to argue to get across to them that these charges were kept secret until this point. I agreed to pay $28.15 for my TWO pickups. The trash can was already here...not paying you $30 to bring it...duh. I get a call two months later threatening to send this over to collections. Upon calling they say I owe $55. Past due. Never got a bill. Don't owe this anyway. This is deceitful practice on the part of Republic. We are senior citizens and on a budget. We may be old, but we aren't dumb. Social media is a great resource to put these guys on their level... which is LESS than one star. They are garbage! read more

The Last week of May 2018, this business stopped picking up our trash without warning. This lasted about 3 weeks. There was no correspondence, NOTHING. We just kept putting the trash out and it would still be there. Same for all customer on our road. At that time we switched companies. In July we received a bill for $16.04. We did not owe this amount. However, Republic turned it over to a Collection firm at which time I paid it. For the next 3 months I received statements showing I had a credit balance for $16.04. That was in November. I called several times and was told it would be 3 weeks for processing. Still have not received the refund and was told the amount had been written off. So, where is the refund? Have this month's statement showing $16.04 credit. read more

As the other reviewers have commented, Service is horrendous - but Republic will change u every week regardless! I have called almost weekly since August. I have had my missed pickups "escalated" 3 times and been credited 3 weeks worth of pickups. The last straw was the "billing specialist" telling me today that I can either get a $7 credit or have them pick my trash up Tuesday (my scheduled day is Thursday, so once again, my trash sits at the end of my driveway for nearly a week). And then they don't pick it up the following Thursday... it's a routine now. They accept no responsibility for their lack of service, and refuse to credit my weekly fee if I want their missed pickup rescheduled. I was on the phone 20 minutes today, called two other times this week alone. I would estimate I've made approximately 10 calls for no service. Don't give them your business, they don't deserve it. And you don't deserve the aggravation and inconvenience. read more

Never had a problem with this company until several months ago. Republic has been unreliable in picking up trash. I have been showing patience with them for quite some time. They will promise you next day pick each time but that often does not happen. Now I am two weeks without pickup. How can a company exist with this poor customer service? Please take my advise and look for a different company that respects the customer. read more

When they were Allied Waste it was great prices & services. Now that they're Republic it's gone down hill. Prices keep rising, add on fees keep getting added on. I called to cancel my service to go with a local trash removal service that quite a bit cheaper. The customer service rep told me they had a new promo that would be a straight $50 every 3 months with NO fees. It would include the tote that I have from Allied Waste. at no extra charge. I called while I was still paid up & before the new bill came. Over 1 month to be exact. I was told the new bill would show the new amount ($50) due. Low & behold at the beginning of April I get a new bill with duplicate charges for the old rate ($131.50).. Called again & they didn't know what had happened. Told me to pay the $50 which I did over the phone. That they would take care of everything & don't worry. Today I get a recorded message saying they were worried about my past due (the full $131.50) To please take care of it immediately. Naturally they are closed for the weekend when they call. Can't wait for Monday to call to cancel. read more

Trash sat in front of our house for 22 days before they showed up. Horrible customer service, phones said they had a problem & hung up on you. The 1st miss the person said short on drivers & couldn't guarantee anything but death & taxes, obviously he knew it wouldn't be picked up again. Facebook messenger said would contact GM at local shop but it still took 6 days after that for it to actually be picked up. Got BBB involved to get it picked up but have yet to see credit I have been told by Republic that they gave me 3x now & they told BBB they gave me, instead they raised my bill $12. Obliviously I am closing my account with them & they have told me by email that if I have a credit it will not be refunded. I paid for 3 months of service & they worked the first 2 and just let it sit in front of my house for June. They should not keep my money when they did not do the job hired to do. Save yourself some stress, I do not recommend this Company. They were fine for a year but definitely have serious problems now. read more

We chose to go with RS for our trash and recycling two years ago because they were the only company at the time that would also pick up our recycling outside of city limits. They charged a ridiculous "drop off" fee ($165) for the trash tote and recycling bin which no other waste company I've ever done service with has even charged anything for. But they were the only option for picking up our recycling, so we did it anyway. We recently called to cancel after a month of no recycling pick up (and daily messages telling me to leave it out and they would return the next day to collect) only to be told that they will charge a "pick up" fee for those same containers - $70 "to offset fuel costs." We live just 2 miles from the center on Tilden Ave and they refuse to let us drop off the containers instead of having them pick them up. Even after talking with several representatives, the response I get is "this is just how it is" and "I'll make a note of that on your account." There is no mention anywhere on the website or any invoices that indicate this charge will be applied if you choose to cancel service. Beware and choose a different company. read more

I switched services because I had issues with my previous trash company. I heard that Gambier was going with the company as their official trash vendor, so decided to give them a try. Unfortunately, it took several weeks to get my cans. Called several times and even had one time where they had it listed that the cans were delivered. Finally received my cans and the service has been great for the past year. They have been on top of getting the trash faithfully around 6am every Wednesday. Because of this record, I called last week to find out what the issue was and they marked me as missed and guaranteed that my trash would be picked up by the following day. It has been a week and my trash is still out there! I had forgotten the previous week to get it out, so now my trash is overflowing and disgusting. Until last week, I was very satisfied with the service and now I see many people are having the same problem after a year. I did get a call last Thursday that things were running behind and told that it would have been picked up last Friday. Obviously this was not true. Then I heard someone else at my husband's office were complaining about it and that yesterday the trucks were not even going out to try to pick them up. What on earth is going on with this company!? Customer service representative was very friendly every time I have called, but this is obviously beyond the control of what they can do. I have a mind to go ahead and change companies if this is not resolved quickly and this problem continues to go on! Would have recommended up until this week. read more
