Around 3 or 4 years ago Republic Services took over the routes of my previous trash provider. At the time I was paying $50/mo to have a 2 yard dumpster picked up every 2 weeks. Republic trucks are far heavier than the original providers. They immediately began causing damage to my driveway and yard, not just to the topsoil but also reshaping the clay underneath, creating an area that retained an excessive amount of water. Over time, that caused the entire driveway entrance to soften and begin to sink. I was able to mitigate most of that damage by dropping a few tons of gravel at the entrance a couple times a year. However, it has been well over a year since i have been able to put down any gravel, as their rates have steadily increased from $50 to $193 per month, making any form of damage mitigation impossible. On Tuesday, May 26 I called their support number to cancel services. I spent an hour and a half on the phone, with most of that time being on hold, before reaching a representative. I told them I wanted to cancel the service as their trucks were damaging my driveway and yard, I told them their dumpster was empty and ready for retrieval. After discussing the situation with them, I was transferred to another department to repeat the conversation with someone else, only to be transferred again, this time to "Cancellations" for another repeat discussion, finally ending the call expecting to hear back from an account manager. By the following Friday, having received no reply, I drove to the local office. After explaining the situation to a couple of people there, I was provided a direct number for the account manager. I called multiple times over the next few days before finally getting through, only to be given an email address to send a cancellation notice to, and to be told I have to provide 60 days notice. It is now July 27. I have spoken to at least 9 individuals within this company, from drivers and dispatch to account managers and cancellations. I have told each them their trucks are destroying my property, I don't want their service, and that their dumpster is ready to be retrieved. Despite being notified of the damages their trucks are causing, they continue to send those trucks to pretend to service a dumpster that was last emptied on May 18, and remains empty. Because of this, I have been forced to block their service trucks from my property since June 1 in order to prevent further damage. I have not received any acknowledgement of my cancellation request. I have, however, received bills totaling $391 for services not provided during the months of June and July. At this rate, they will soon be adding another $190 for August, and $390 for their 2 month notice, whenever they finally get to it, plus $150 for their dumpster retrieval fee. Looking at close to $1200 to cancel their service, and that doesn't included the costs to repair my driveway. read more

They can not seem to pick up on the scheduled day!!!! Continues to be a problem. They rescheduled from Thursday to Friday, but now they say it will be Monday. read more

Terrible service. We have gone two weeks without trash pick up. It takes hours just to get ahold of someone to speak to them. Finally I get got ahold of them and they only wanted to deduct $9 off our bill and told us they would also pick up the extra trash bags that were sitting next to our can. Come that pickup day, they dumped our trash and didn't touch our trash bags that were left sitting next to the can. This has been an ongoing thing and I definitely do not recommend them. read more

Terrible service and expensive. They hiked my hill up to almost 200$ every 3 months and they never answer the phone or get back to you. They also miss pick ups all the time if you're looking for trash service choose someone else read more

They way overcharge for their services. When I tried to cancel, they inform me that I have to pay for the whole month, even though today is the 3rd. They also charge $41.00 to pick up their container. Horrible company. I save $100.00 every 3 months with a different service. read more

Had a 30 yd dumpster sitting in my driveway @ 750 bucks, paid for that and 1/ 2 of my 3 month cycle even though I would only be there for 2 weeks. Chose Area Disposal if you can!!!!! Republic did not pick up our trash for 2 weeks. Called 3 times to talk to customer service and could not get a reason why. Asked to speak to supervisor and was put on hold for 20 mins each time without speaking to anyone. Requested compensation and was told we may get a credit of one week, but trash cant be picked up for 3 more days. Terrible service all around. We pay $116 every 3 months for this to happen.... read more

Had issues with Republic Services and a container pick up fee I was unaware about when I chose to stay with the company after they took over my previous service. However, they reached out very quickly to correct the miscommunication and the customer service was outstanding. Through an extremely easy Facebook message. I really appreciated that. read more

This company is a joke, no customer consideration. They will find any excuse to charge fees and steadily increase prices. Closed my account to go to another company that was half as expensive for the same service. They indicated I would receive a refund however after waiting nearly three weeks and not seeing it I called only to find out they had charged me multiple fees cutting the refund in half. read more

Had nothing but issues with this awful company. And I'm not one to normally complain. But when the first issue happened I should have RAN. I asked to start services. And told them my previous neighbor moved and left her trash bin with no intention of picking it up.(because they "have to pay a company to pick up the trash can" I figured I'd save us Both time and money) So I told them I didn't need a trash bin delivered so they told me they would make note of this. And NOT deliver a trash bin and wave the drop off fee of the trash can. Well they dropped off a second bin anyway. Despite saying they made note of this. And when I called to tell them there mistake they tried to charge me for the dropping off and picking up of the trash bin I specifically said I DID NOT need. Finally after arguing with them they finally agreed to wave the fees. Fast forward to how expensive my bill was it was close $95 every 3 months for one day a week pick up! When my grandma who lives down the street her bill was like 60$ a month. Crazy. So I called to tell them I was going local with a company that does two time a week pick up for half their price. (Because who wouldn't save money where they can) And they told me I would be charged 20 for canceling when I signed no contract with them and a fee to pick up the trash can. Then the customer representative told me I could drop the trash can off myself and avoid yet another fee. The representative offered me this option and i gladly agreed. Well again they didn't listen and picked up the trash can before the month I paid for was even over. So I called and spoke with their horrible customer service again. And finally after much discussion I was told that my bill was taken care of and I owed nothing. Okay I though great finally some good customer service! WRONG i just received a letter from a collection agency trying to turn me over for a bill of $19.95 that I didn't even know that I owned. Since I was told by a rep it was taken care of. So to not go against my credit I had to pay this fee plus a $5 fee to make the payment. To say this company is awful is an understatement. I would never ever ever ever recommend them to anyone! They're ridiculously expensive and have so many fees and their customer service representatives have no idea what they're talking about. Use big river! read more
