    dirt & dryer sheet

    This is my first apartment ever and I enjoyed it at first, but now there just always seems to be something that's a problem. I wouldn't recommend these apartments to anyone at this point. I moved in the beginning of January of 23 & it is currently mid November of 23 & I JUST NOW got my dryer fixed. (11 months... absolutely ridiculous) It used to take 4 times for any of my clothes to dry & I was hanging most of them to dry every day. I had maintenance come out once a month, if not more, and nothing got fixed until I was rude and threw a fit, which isn't me AT ALL, nor did I want to have to be like that. When they brought me a new dryer... it was from someone else's apartment, which is totally fine, other than it had dirt, rocks, hair, a bug, and someone else's lint & dryer sheet in it, along with it smelling like it was going to catch fire. (pics below) SUPER GROSS & very disappointing considering I had to wait another week to get a different dryer. Once I finally got a brand new dryer out of the box, the line was still clogged, it was getting old lint all over my clothes/everywhere and causing condensation inside the dryer. So someone finally came out to fix it, it ended up taking 2-3 different visits to my apartment because they didn't know how to clear out a line. The bugs here are insane even though pest people come. But they only spray the bathroom & kitchen so I have to spray for my own bugs. Also, document EVERYTHING even if it's the tiniest scratch or dent or anything, because you will have to pay if it's not in the system/documented. Not to mention, the office doesn't have any sort of management, so they say. When we asked to speak with a manager about the dryer issues, they told us there was not a manager, which explains why no one in the office is on the same page ever & they don't know what they are doing. So, if you have issues, you need to call corporate in new jersey & you will get your answers. I usually don't leave reviews either, but i'm so frustrated about everything it's only necessary for other people to be aware before they rent from this apartment complex. I will also be giving this info to corporate as well.

    DO NOT LIVE HERE!!! We only lived here for a week before all the issues came. I will never recommend to rent here. Our first week living here was the worst! The main pipe busted in the furnace closet and there was human poop, baby wipes, toys, & crayons pushing out of the furnaces & pipes. We put in our ticket for maintenance. They came a few hours later after we explained to them that there was human feces pouring into our apartment. Maintenance came in and wipe, sprayed, and vacuum the poop ONLY did not fix the clog and said they will have to call in the plumber come later. After cleaning, more feces started coming out and we entered a second maint ticket and they let us know they had an emergency plumber on the way. They came in to snake the pipe but he said there was years worth of baby wipes clogged in and pulled an entire bag of baby wipes out of the pipe. There was a hole in the main pipe line and that they would need to patch up the main line (second week living there). We received an email blaming us for the plumbing damage even though we had moved in literally that same week. The following Monday someone from the plumbing company came into our apartment without letting us know, came home & found a dirty shirt on my bed along with a water bottle & tools on top of my bed. Went and reported to management she just kept apologizing and that next time someone entered our home they need to reach out to us before entering because we have a dog and its part of the lease to notify residents of entry. Also asked them if they could come clean or air out the apartment because the whole place smelled like poop through the vents. Management said she would send in the cleaning team the next day, again they entered without letting us know. This time our closet doors and storage doors were open that's the only reason why we knew. After that I re-read our lease if you come across issues within 120 days they should allow you to move to a different apartment. The manger did not want to work with our price range she offered us a smaller apartment(that was almost 500 more than what I was already paying), re-pay dog fees, re-pay the down, and repay all the additional fees even though we had nothing to do with the plumbing issue. Managements was basically saying "well true its not your faults but its also not our fault but you can still live here if you want but we gotta charge you more). Not to mention I left my other apartment due to an emergency (paid all those early fees). I was out of options as I used all my money to move in to these apartments and just wanted to transfer to something similar. We tried talking to the manager about our options and the manager was not empathetic at all nor did she want to hear us out and related the faulty apartment given to me by them to her car accident and said "life just isn't fair". A vehicle loss is a lot less worse than literally being HOMLESS. We moved out after living here for 1 month. Thankfully corporate was able to waive the fees for terminating our lease early even though it was not a home one could live in. We are now living at The Landing at Tiffany Springs they are a bit more pricey but its like having your own town home, its clean, new, and the staff is AMAZING! Look at the pictures and think twice before you sign that lease. Management is terrible and did not want to help with our situation. They ladies in the front are very understanding and did their best to help. Maintenance WILL enter your home without you being there and snoop through your stuff.

    The utilities are very expensive even for a single person. The landscape on the main drive is immaculate, but drive through the complex the attached picture is the side they don't show you on the website. The staff is nice but that doesn't resolve my issues. BELIEVE THE REVIEWS!!

I've never been treated as poorly as I've been treated by the KC Loft Space management. I am thankfully moving out in a couple months, but the process of moving out has been horrendous. Multiple times, my wife and I showed up for a scheduled appointment with the manager, and the leasing office was closed - during their working business hours! We have seen mice in our building due to poor insulation and although we have called multiple times, nothing has been done about the issue. The management has raised rent by a minimum of $100 every time our lease is renewed, and they've ultimately done nothing to improve the living conditions of the building. If you're wanting to park in a garage, you can plan on walking from a few blocks away. Although there is a parking garage in the basement, there always seems to be a waiting list even though it is almost always empty. Plus, even if you get a spot, you'll have to fork over $80/month. That, on top of your $1200+ rent, is enough to make anyone want to move. When we originally moved into the Opera House building, it was being managed by KC Loft Central. They seemed to do a MUCH better job. They were always friendly, and always seemed to be available. Since then, it has gone downhill in a hurry. Our building used to be completely full of residents, but now there are only about 4 or 5 other people living on our floor. Many of our past neighbors have moved out due to the poor management and ridiculous rising rental rates. If you're thinking about living in downtown KC, I suggest looking at someone other than KC Loft Space. I think you will regret living under their management.

This is month 3 in my new RiverMarket apartment - I previously lived at 5th & Delaware in the market neighborhood. No complaints and love the amenities and staff. When touring (twice) and considering this apartment, I was very appreciative of the responsiveness and follow-up to all my questions. The office staff works as a team and has very positive energy - a far cry from most (not all, but most) other options in the neighborhood, several of whom showed broken and damaged spaces. Or, never returned my call of interest. Since moving in on an end of summer special, they have continued to be quickly responsive to any request or service need and equally as pleasant with any questions. The amenities are on par with the best in the city - 360 rooftop view, plenty of community co-working space, a great courtyard and plenty of grills for outdoor cooking.. What hooked me was the included utilities and covered parking - all I have to pay in addition to rent is Internet service. Check it out - it could be a home-run for you too!!

She was on time, super fun to work with, and even offered a glass of wine as we went over some of the pricing information for various floor plans. The unit was stunning and I immediately knew it was the location for me downtown, so I signed a lease and moved in in July, and have absolutely loved it. I looked around at buildings for almost a month and Sky on Main was hands down the best option. Connie informed me during my walk through that there is construction going on during week days. I work from home and the noise has been completely manageable, and easy to tune out with quiet music when seldom necessary. My 20th floor views are insane. To the south I look at beautiful downtown KC and to the west I can watch the sunset and see the river. The entire 24/7 security staff is super personable and helpful with random needs, package deliveries, and guest entry/exit. Any maintenance request I have had has been taken care of in less than 24 hours. The rest of the office staff has been great as well. The parking garage is super convenient and safe, the gym is always clean and organized, and CVS is across the street. Did I mention there is a basketball court, air hockey, pool table, and couch/lounge area!? There is a 24/7 self serve snack room with drinks and food. MILDRED'S is on the 2nd floor. They serve from AM-3PM.. wonderful breakfast items, salads, sandwiches, coffee, and delicious sweet treats I have really, really enjoyed my time here and already know I'll struggle to leave, whenever life needs it to happen.

I spent quite a bit of time trying to find the right place for my situation. I have children, so security was paramount. I also wanted something that was in an active area of the city and had a strong 'community' feel and finally I wanted a place that 'took care of itself'. I selected Sky and have been very happy with the decision. Regarding security, this place is outstanding. Security is well done and the security staff are always professional and courteous. I have seen them escort the UPS/Amazon folks around the building making sure your packages hit your door. The area around Sky is active, there are a couple of great restaurants next door and the river market or P&L are a 7 minute walk away. The street car can be hit or miss but everything is still very close. The community piece of the puzzle is a bit of a work in progress, but the building management are doing everything they can to make that awesome. We have monthly activities, a yoga instructor is provided 3 times a week, one of the best gyms in KC, a nice porch area facing main &10th street, and a roof top area that is first rate. I once lived in a town home where a maintenance ticket took over a year to be resolved. I knew I didn't want to end up in that position again. The building management, and maintenance teams at Sky are 'on it', I have seen people working after hours and on weekends for tenants. I have placed a handful of tickets and they have all been resolved in less than a week and high priority tickets are resolved in hours. You really can't ask for more than that. The building management is responsive, professional, and truly cares about the tenants. I hear stories from my friends at other high rises/lofts about their management companies and I count myself fortunate to be in the spot I am. So, in closing, the views are amazing, the building is very quiet and safe, and you can't beat the location.

Here are cons: · Expect your renewal rates to go up every year by 8-10% with absolutely nothing to show for it. · This place is never cleaned. In the 3 years I've lived here, I've seen facilities/maintenance clean this place (hallways, gym, pool) about a dozen times. Residents don't clean up after their pets urine or poop in the hallways and corridors. Residents don't clean up after themselves after a party out. There have been a number of times vomit is left in the hallways. I know management knows about this as the vomit has been near the staircase where it leads to the gym. · This building is over 10+ years old and it definitely shows. This isn't usually an issue as you can expect wear and tear, but when nails are sticking out of the trimming, that's an issue. · If you like mice scurrying around in the grills and pool area, this place is for you! There have been times where I've email management, no response. · Security is lacking. Parking garage is not secure. When I left, there were multiple broken windows around parking garage. This is caused by a lot of the residents leaving doors unlocked and badging their friends into the parking garage to park. A couple of times where I had to park in the street parking as I couldn't find parking on the rooftop. This is completely unacceptable if you pay for a parking spot.

Hardly any sun and water is always cold as the pool is surrounded by buildings -- it is also always absolutely crazy full during the summer with party goers (even during COVID!). Location is somewhat nice with the River Market but prepare for the homeless living by the river and break-ins. We found a gentlemen in the trash chute area doing drugs once very late at night. Scary!! We also caught a man making a fire in the back and a gentleman upfront didn't seem to care. We had to call the police ourselves. The maintenance people are wonderful though. Always smiling and saying hi/wishing you well and keeping areas cleaned up. I wish we could take them with us!

I walked to work for years and it's a short walk to the River Market, Power & Light, West Side, and the Cross Roads (for First Friday). Amenities abound: The Penthouse-level pool is barely used and has a great view of the city and is a wonderful place to host a party; it also has a sauna and a spa. There's a large patio with two grills, which also has a great view of the area and great to have your friends over. There is gated parking available above and below ground. Garbage chutes are on every floor for your convenience and recycling is available as well. Got packages being delivered while you're at work? No problem as the front desk will sign and hold it for you. FREE Google Fiber Internet is available in every unit and wi-fi in the lobby. The lobby level contains a party / study / TV room and a gym (with an exercise room with mats). Got to photocopy items or borrow a computer? They have a free business office! Units are furnished differently and come in many shapes and sizes. All of them were renovated or constructed recently and are updated. Many contain granite counter-tops, high end stove-tops and ovens, dishwashers, washers, dryers, and hardwood floors. All units have great views of the city and will WOW your friends. Worried about security? Not only is parking gated, but the front door is buzz-able and you can even watch who is in the lobby on television channel #5 to make sure you are letting in whom you want to. Some units also have large storage units in the basement. Most units have plenty of closet space as well. Units are available to rent or to purchase. The neighborhood has improved dramatically in the last ten years and continued to improve. FYI, it may be hard to find a vacancy in this building right away as there is a wait list for downtown (95% occupied). The population of the building varies: Many young professionals and couples, retirees, UMKC students, medical students, and divorcees mostly. People are very friendly and neighborly, but tend to be quiet. The units are well soundproofed so you rarely hear neighbors. This building is pet-friendly, but they must be approved by the board. Criminal & financial background checks are done, so the building has a really good community.

My experience here has been frustrating and disappointing, especially when it comes to parking and utilities. First, parking is an absolute joke. Residents are required to pay for a designated parking spot, but management does not enforce it at all. As a result, people who don't pay for parking regularly take spots that others are paying for. It completely defeats the purpose of having assigned parking and creates unnecessary stress on a daily basis. Second, the utility system--specifically the extra steam and chilled water charges--makes no sense. Even when you barely use these services, your bill somehow increases. When you try to get answers or help, management just redirects you instead of actually resolving the issue. There's no transparency, no accountability, and no real support for residents. Overall, between the lack of parking enforcement and the confusing, seemingly inflated utility charges, living here has been more of a headache than anything else. Save yourself the frustration and look for a place that actually respects its residents.

On the very first day I moved into this building, the elevator broke while my movers were bringing my belongings up. My items were stuck inside the elevator for hours. I had hired professional movers--I wasn't even touching the elevator myself--yet I was later told I would be charged $2,000 for a part the elevator already needed. Instead of billing the moving company (if they truly believed there was damage), they decided to hold me, the new tenant, responsible for a maintenance issue that wasn't my fault. To make things worse, when I contacted the manager for a meeting, I was told she was on vacation for two weeks. I emailed her in detail about the situation, but she never responded. As soon as she returned, someone else from the building's management team reached out--not to resolve the issue, but to inform me that the $2,000 charge would be added to my rent starting the 1st. I never even had a chance to speak to the manager personally. I also contacted the Missouri elevator department to check whether the elevators were even up to code, but they said this was a landlord/tenant dispute and couldn't help me. I feel totally taken advantage of and silenced by the lack of communication and transparency. If you're considering moving in, please think twice. I moved in in good faith and ended up in a situation where I'm being held financially responsible for something completely out of my control, and I never even got a fair conversation about it.

Update- I've been living here for 2 months now & I'm enjoying my veiw , spacious rooms & bathroom . The two problems with this loft are one being the parking , it's two blocks away & it's a hassle when you're running late to work or when you just want to step out but maybe honestly I'm just being lazy . The second is that it smells bad . The hallways smell like trash & cigarette but they did start the new no smoke in the building rule so hopefully that'll help with the smoke smell . Also there are no locks on the doors. Technically the doors "lock" but you could open it with your fingernails & I had to pay almost $200 for them to stall a lock that a toddler can't open in my bedroom ( only my bedroom door ) . Even though you'd assume they'd pay for it . So if you have a roommate make sure you ask about the lock situation before signing the lease . The staff are still very friendly, attentive & helpful . Will update as I live here longer .
