Since my first interaction with Connie for a showing, my experience as a resident at Sky on Main has been amazing. She was on time, super fun to work with, and even offered a glass of wine as we went over some of the pricing information for various floor plans. The unit was stunning and I immediately knew it was the location for me downtown, so I signed a lease and moved in in July, and have absolutely loved it. I looked around at buildings for almost a month and Sky on Main was hands down the best option. Connie informed me during my walk through that there is construction going on during week days. I work from home and the noise has been completely manageable, and easy to tune out with quiet music when seldom necessary. My 20th floor views are insane. To the south I look at beautiful downtown KC and to the west I can watch the sunset and see the river. The entire 24/7 security staff is super personable and helpful with random needs, package deliveries, and guest entry/exit. Any maintenance request I have had has been taken care of in less than 24 hours. The rest of the office staff has been great as well. The parking garage is super convenient and safe, the gym is always clean and organized, and CVS is across the street. Did I mention there is a basketball court, air hockey, pool table, and couch/lounge area!? There is a 24/7 self serve snack room with drinks and food. MILDRED'S is on the 2nd floor. They serve from AM-3PM.. wonderful breakfast items, salads, sandwiches, coffee, and delicious sweet treats I have really, really enjoyed my time here and already know I'll struggle to leave, whenever life needs it to happen. read more

I moved into Sky in August of 2021 needing a drastic change of pace and scenery. Moving from the 'burbs to downtown was going to be an exciting adventure. I spent quite a bit of time trying to find the right place for my situation. I have children, so security was paramount. I also wanted something that was in an active area of the city and had a strong 'community' feel and finally I wanted a place that 'took care of itself'. I selected Sky and have been very happy with the decision. Regarding security, this place is outstanding. Security is well done and the security staff are always professional and courteous. I have seen them escort the UPS/Amazon folks around the building making sure your packages hit your door. The area around Sky is active, there are a couple of great restaurants next door and the river market or P&L are a 7 minute walk away. The street car can be hit or miss but everything is still very close. The community piece of the puzzle is a bit of a work in progress, but the building management are doing everything they can to make that awesome. We have monthly activities, a yoga instructor is provided 3 times a week, one of the best gyms in KC, a nice porch area facing main &10th street, and a roof top area that is first rate. I once lived in a town home where a maintenance ticket took over a year to be resolved. I knew I didn't want to end up in that position again. The building management, and maintenance teams at Sky are 'on it', I have seen people working after hours and on weekends for tenants. I have placed a handful of tickets and they have all been resolved in less than a week and high priority tickets are resolved in hours. You really can't ask for more than that. The building management is responsive, professional, and truly cares about the tenants. I hear stories from my friends at other high rises/lofts about their management companies and I count myself fortunate to be in the spot I am. So, in closing, the views are amazing, the building is very quiet and safe, and you can't beat the location. read more

Connie was fantastic in showing me the apartment and answering numerous follow up questions. Right before I was going to move in, COVID lockdown occurred. The staff was very empathetic and allowed me to change move in dates to a few months later. All the staff have been fantastic. The apartment was very clean and great design for the new construction. Built in table and top notch kitchen appliances are a great touch. The rain shower head is the best. The amenities are top notch and the rooftop patio deck, which just opened is a great place. Was a little bummed to learn that you aren't allowed to bring pets up there, but understandable. I have not experienced this but there are a few units that are listed on Air BnB and apparently sometimes those guests can be a little noisey. The location is perfect as it's right off the streetcar line and about equidistant from River Market and P&L. Tons of resttraunts and bars near by to check out. There is a nice park/dog park about a half mile walk. Overall it's been a good place to call home. read more

Purgatory Here is the jist of why this place is hell and if I could make a post without giving it a star, I would. This place is hot trash and the management team and the buildings owner will make sure you never feel at home here. Also, take note that if you do not take my warning, there is construction going on in floors 18 and 19 for more apartments. They will continue building more apartments for at least 8 more floors though the management team cannot confirm or deny this question because they will not communicate the residents any building updates unless it is to shut off your water or electricity. The information regarding that there will be more floors is public knowledge for they have already received the permit. So the only way residents know this is because a former resident decided to dig through city records and share on facebook. Below is just a summary of the larger issues we have had here. It in no way brings up all the other issues this management and owner have continually and intentionally dropped the ball. There's little else I can add that hasn't already been stated in the reviews of other Yelpers (save for "Eric N.," whose suspiciously defensive diatribe in response to the negative reviews of Sky on Main leave little doubt that he's affiliated with Sky's management/ownership). The bottom line is that this place is a complete nightmare, and if I could give it the proverbial zero-star rating, I would. The unannounced demolition/construction that has now been going on for nearly a year has made life at Sky on Main a living hell, and the two New York-based brothers who own the building legitimately Could. Not. Care. Less. But if for some reason you don't quite believe the chorus of overwhelmingly negative reviews, just hop on over to the Missouri case.net website (Google "Missouri case net") and do a Litigant Name Search for Ten Main & Associates, LLC, where on the second page of results you'll see three current lawsuits filed against previous renters who loathed living here so much that they decided to move out before their leases expired and take their chances in court. Basically, your decision boils down to this: If you enjoy waking up to all-day-long, eardrum-shattering drilling, and frequent water/electricity shutoffs, and common areas covered in demolition filth, and dealing with an indifferent management team that blatantly lies about current and future construction plans, then Sky on Main is your new home. Otherwise, as they say, run for the hills as fast as you can! (And FYI: Mildred's Coffeehouse will soon be moving out of the building. So if the previous four paragraphs haven't sufficiently dissuaded you from considering a miserable life at Sky on Main, then at least don't let them fool you into expecting that unique amenity to be around much longer.) read more

Not only is the apartment high quality and the views of the city are fantastic, but the customer service from the leasing office has been the most impressive. They truly take great care of you and really want to make you feel right at home! Wendy, Melissa and Connie always make me feel like a part of the family! Also, it can't get any better than downtown living! Literally everything you could ever need is right around the corner AND you can access the street car right outside the first floor! Sky on Main is THE place to live in KC! From the incredible location, the top-notch finishings and amenities, the friendly and trustworthy security staff to the always responsive and helpful leasing team, we could not be happier here. We have never felt safer, more at home, and more cared about in an apartment! Melissa, Wendy and Connie are the best to work with and always make you feel at home! While we were concerned with the construction and bus station before moving in, we have not had any issues with either. The construction noise is minimal - even on days that we work from home. The bus station people leave us alone and security is on the ball if anything is ever needed. Overall, if you're looking for a modern and homey place to live downtown, this is THE PLACE to be! Hands down, far and away, the worst renting experience I've ever had in my life (i.e. - 15 years of renting). Initially we were very happy here; we even signed a renewal after our first year. We liked that there were only two residential floors and that the rest of the building was commercial space that was largely vacant on weekends (that was even pitched as a selling point when we first toured the property). In hindsight, we probably should have known better, but we were led to believe the top two floors were to be "unique" within the building. We now know for certain that none of that is (or likely was) true, as construction began roughly 6-7 months ago to convert the 18th and 19th floors to residential space. We were never notified by management or ownership--we just woke up one day to the sounds of hammering and drilling. It took them weeks to even acknowledge what was happening, and even then they only did so because tenants (like us) were stopping by the leasing office to ask about it. At this point, it is very clear to me that this building will eventually be entirely residential. See other recent reviews for more details on that front. The ownership's apparent game/strategy is to fill up the building on a piecemeal basis so that they can continue to fund additional construction. Of course, this also means that residents should be expect to endure the noise for years to come. Here are just some of the issues we have dealt with, many of which are obviously construction related: -We have had our power and/or water shut off numerous times on weekends; -One weeknight all of the residents had to stay in a hotel room up the street so that the power could be shut off to the entire building; -We have been locked out of the building numerous times due to card reader failures. In one instance, it took roughly a week to even get management to believe and/or understand that there was a real problem; -In just the last three months, we have been notified on two separate occasions that our water would be shut off for 7-8 hours at a time during the day for "preventative maintenance" and/or "flooding" on other floors. In both instances, we were given short notice and no compensation. In spite of their explanations to the contrary, I have no doubt these shut-offs were largely construction related. We have asked ownership and management to tell us when the shut-offs would be expected to end, but they will not even respond to our emails (this is not an exaggeration). A common theme here has been Sky's constant and conscious decisions not to be upfront and transparent with its tenants. It is abundantly clear to me that the ownership and/or management/leasing view the tenants at Sky on Main as both dispensable and a means to an end. They view us as replaceable, and for that reason, they do not care enough to try to keep us happy and keep us from leaving. I am left to assume that everyone from the top down has no qualms with what is happening here and the orders they are given to carry out in order to better line the pockets of the owners. read more

Sky on Main is the first apartment I moved into when I moved to KC and it has felt like home ever since. Everyone that works at Sky on Main is incredible. Starting off with the leasing experience, Connie is amazing and she made it the easiest lease I have ever signed (being out of state) and gave me a ton of great info as I was new to the city. Sky on Main Management (Melissa & Wendy) are the nicest most accommodating building managers that I have ever experienced. Every interaction, any questions or any issues that arise they go above and beyond and then some for you which I really appreciate. The building has 24 hour security which is great and the security guards are some of the nicest people as well(legitimately everyone is nice that works at Sky on Main). The units are gorgeous, very modern and new with sleek finishes. The amenities include a Gym and hangout room which you can rent out for parties which is really convenient. Their is an attached garage that has closed gates after a certain time which is nice to have downtown. The views from every single unit are stunning, the sunsets if you are on the west side are jaw dropping and the downtown view from the east is beautiful. No matter what angle you have an incredible high up view which is hard to come by at a reasonable cost. The location to me is perfect because you have a street car stop right outside the building and are able to go pretty much anywhere downtown in under 10 min. Their is currently construction going on in the building as they are adding more units but I have not been effected by it as I head into the office every morning and travel for work. The days that I have worked from home the noise has been minimal and we get txt/email updates if anything major is going to happen as a heads up which I appreciate. All in all there is no other place I rather live downtown (just signed another lease here). The people, the apartments, the view, the amenities, and the cost..... I truly think this is one of KCs best kept secret. read more

I moved in the beginning of January and everyone from my leasing agent (Connie), to the building manager (Melissa), to the security guards, to the maintenance have been nothing but great and so incredibly helpful! I moved from an apartment complex where the staff was impossible to deal with, so it has been the biggest breath of fresh air to deal with people who really care about you and your experience! Aside from that, the apartments themselves are amazing, the views are great at all times of the day, I get to watch the sun set on the river every night and it never fails to awe me. Construction noise, deceitful management, and constant inconveniences make living at The Sky nothing more than an expensive headache. Prior to the start of demolition on floors 18 and 19, my boyfriend and I had plans to stay for years to come -- that quickly changed after nerve-rattling drilling started without any explanation from management a little after 7 AM. When we inquired about the noise, the response was vague and the building manager acted as if she didn't know what we were talking about. Weeks after the construction began, management finally made a formal announcement but have never kept residents in the loop regarding their future construction plans (which you should know include a conversion of floors 16 and 17 following the completion of their current project) and the possibility of construction ruckus lasting years from now. There have been periods of no construction since the start date due to a mechanics lien that was filed by a sub-contractor against the ownership; if you're so inclined, you can check all of this out as well as other ongoing litigation against residents on Missouri's case.net website. All-day water shut offs, loss of electricity, service down to one rickety elevator for months to the parking garage, and other construction-related issues have become commonplace. On one recent occasion, ALL of the elevators to the residential floors were out of service as well (without a peep from management). If you're looking for a place to rent, don't go here. It's all about the bottom line for the owners and management at The Sky -- even if it means pulling the wool over the eyes of residents who have been here since the beginning. read more

Before you sign a long-term lease at Sky on Main I would consider the following 4 points: - In the last year many of the units have been converted to short-term, air BNB - style leases which are managed by a 3rd party. From the two short-term units near our apartment we have so far witnessed a domestic assault in the hallway as well as evidence of hardcore drug use and distribution. I compare this experience to living in a cheap hotel, despite the extremely high monthly rates they charge their long-term residents. In short, we do not feel safe living here and are actually moving out 3 months early because of this. - I can confirm management has offered a free IPAD giveaway as well as gift cards in exchange for positive online reviews. One may want to consider this when assessing the overall rating. - The entire building does not recycle. Recycling receptacles are located on each floor but everything ends up in the trash. I mention this not only because of the terrible waste, but also as an example of management's desperate attempts to cut costs. - There are dozens of better options in downtown KC at similar (or lower) price points. I recommend looking elsewhere. read more

My favorite thing about sky on main so far has been the great staff. Moving from out of state, they let me ship packages early and would pick them up for me to keep them safe. Wendy has helped me figure things out in the building and any time I have a concern, addresses it immediately. The security guards are some of the nicest people I have met and do their jobs very well. Besides being extremely secure and safe place to live, I enjoy all the amenities included in the building. There's a bootcamp twice a week and a yoga class, the club room is a nice space and never crowded. I know they're doing construction, but since moving in I haven't heard anything. I also just can't hear a single thing my neighbors do while in my apartment. You can hear some stuff in the hallway, but it is eerily quiet inside. Great place to live! read more

I've been a resident for over three years and really love the location and amenities here. I also like that the building has character and is not just a massive apartment complex or high-rise, although the number of units has gone up substantially from when I moved here in September 2017. I was the first renter to live in my unit on the second floor so I have made it feel like home. I have looked around at other apartments downtown but stayed at Sky because the parking is convenient, there is really excellent storage for a one-bedroom apartment, and the finishes and appliances are so nice here. The gym is well equipped and typically not busy (although I have pivoted to working out in my apartment during the pandemic). The rooftop space was added in 2020 and is unique (the grill does not work very well), but has been a really great place to host friends outdoors downtown. I feel safe with the 24-hour security and locked entrances. Management is not always perfect, but they respond quickly and courteously to emails and do what they can within their power -- the building is owned by a NY company. There were many issues with construction during the first year or two, but it seems to have stopped now, besides some upgrades to the parking garage. My rent has not gone up during the three times I have renewed my lease, just small increases in the flat rate utility monthly charge. read more

I moved to Sky on Main at the end of March while the Covid situation was ramping up and things were beginning to close in downtown KC. Connie from the leasing office was a saint during my stressful move in process and scheduled everything to be contact free and safe to ensure an on time move in! She is always available to answer any questions I may have via text or call. All staff- maintenance, security, Melissa (the building manager), and the construction staff have made me feel at home, safe, and welcome since I moved in. My unit was brand new when I moved in and Charles, who is in charge of construction, made sure everything in my unit was to my liking and continuously checks in to ensure I'm happy. Him and his crew even helped me move my couch inti my until when the furniture store was doing contact free delivery. The luxury amenities are top of the line, and I love that this complex is so pet friendly. I am so excited to soon be able to enjoy the new rooftop patio, fire pit and grill too! I can't say enough great things about Sky on Main and am so fortunate to call this place home! read more

Moved in almost a 1.5 years ago and have no plans to move at all. Having lived in large scale urban rental properties for 25 plus years I have to say take the other reviews with a healthy grain of salt. From the first visit 2 years ago the possibility of construction was mentioned many times, while no definitive time line was ever mentioned anyone who has ever spent time in a large mixed use building knows that things are in a constant flux. The building is 50 years old, like any building of this age the systems are old and were not designed with the capabilities of easy modernization and expansion ( the utilities are flat fee, not because of convenience but because it's cheaper than running new electric and plumbing). Other than emergency situations notice has been given for every utility shut down. For the overnight shutdown pet friendly rooms at a brand new 4 star hotel were provided free of charge ( that part was left out by others and I know of one other property in the Crossroads that did nothing during overnight outage's). The fact that somebody didn't know they had to simply stop at the 24 hour security desk to get their visitor parking passes is laughable and free parking is available on the block if you can find a space. I'll admit construction isn't always quiet, but unlike some more expensive properties in the neighborhood the walls are insulated and are not a single layer of the thinnest drywall. The building staff has always responded to problems as quickly as possible and some problems require outside contractors that just aren't available on weekends or after 5. The cleaning staff is here 5 days a week. The amenities are beautiful the location is perfect right in the middle of downtown. As to the issues with the door locks after a pipe burst, nobody was locked out, people were inconvenienced, by having to use a certain entrance and sometimes call security and wait. Management never denied there was a problem, the company who installed and serviced the system did, but I was in the office when the manager was telling the guy from the lock company to try to get in with his keycard and then tell her there wasn't a problem! As for people getting in, well your downtown in a major city it happens, but if you let security know they are responsive. Are things perfect? No but honestly every year we take a look at other buildings in the area and between what I have seen and heard from other downtown residents I have no desire to move to another building and every time somebody who owns a house tells me about their latest expensive repair I happily write my rent check. Could the owner be more responsive? Yes, but my gold standard is a landlord who lived in his 30 unit building and I speak to at least twice a year 25 years later. If you think any of the other major developers of buildings this size are any better, well keep drinking the Kool Aide. read more

Excellent views and nice amenities. Would live here if you get the chance. Having mildreds is the lobby has come in handy when working from home and the 24/7 gym is hard to beat. The rooftop deck is still not ready but once that construction is complete this is easily a 5 star place to live. read more

What started out as a great space in a luxury building has turned into a literal nightmare. I moved into my apartment at Sky on Main in March 2018 and everything was fantastic for the first few months. My first headache was when I started having friends and family come to visit me.. I was unaware of the fact that each visitor has to pay for parking for each social call, this fee can be up $16-$24 depending on the duration. The building is secure most of the time, however do not be surprised if a fill in security officer allows a non resident access by "mistake" several times throughout your lease. We have gone through two full time and one interim property manager within the short eleven months I have lived here without communication to the residents so as you can imagine even minor maintenance issues have slipped through the cracks. Over the past few months we have had to deal with construction noise as early as 7:00am Monday-Friday. In addition to the noise the construction has brought occasional water, power and elevator outages. Once again the residents were not made aware of these inconveniences at anytime prior. If our leasing consultant would have been made aware of the impending construction I feel as if she would have been able to communicate it to us prior to lease signing. Unfortunately I am locked into my lease until March but I hope this review serves as a warning for potential tenants. read more

I LOVE living at Sky on Main. The location is perfect, right downtown and right at a street car stop which I love. It is an easy walk to the river market area, power and light district, and so many other downtown locations. The apartment itself is so modern, sleek, has amazing views, and is very spacious for a 1 bedroom. One of my favorite parts has to be the gym. It is huge with a half court basketball court and has all the machines and weights I could ever need. It is very convenient and very nice to not have to pay extra for a gym membership somewhere else. Sky on main has amazing amenities, but also the staff has been amazing to work with as well. The 24 hour security staff are always so helpful and friendly and there to help me with anything I need, I have forgotten my keys before and it is no hassle at all to have them let me into the building. I feel a lot safer knowing they are always around the building at all hours of the day. I would definitely recommend living at These apartments to anyone who is looking in the downtown area ! read more
