Ok I'll start with the good... the breakfast was nice, clean and good choices. The pool was decent, clean enough and could use a refurbish, but nice to have there. The staff we met was kind and polite! Now the really... and I mean REALLY bad stuff.. our room was disgusting. Not vacuumed, the sink had food in it, the fridge had a lone hotdog. There were fingerprints and stains on all surfaces. The toilet paper in the bathroom had brown feces looking residue on it. Yeah. There was trash under all the beds and get this, we found a VAPE. Yeah, and I was with my kids. It's a shame because this is a nice area and a nice hotel, but it was not kept up with cleanliness. I would not stay here again. read more

Holy cow. Staying here was awful. The building itself is very nice. Very clean and comfortable. However, I have NEVER stayed in a louder hotel in my life. We stayed there after a 14 hour drive. We were eager to get into bed and fall asleep. When we got into bed, we realized that we weren't going to get much (or any) sleep. The AC unit was insanely loud for about 3-4 minutes after it shut off but honestly that wasn't the worst of it. All night long, all we could hear was the interstate traffic. IT WAS SO LOUD ALL NIGHT LONG. It felt like we were in the median of the interstate. I had to wear headphones blasting white noise to even get an hour or two of rest. Do not stay here if you want sleep. read more

My husband and I had such a wonderful week at this Residence Inn. Our room was so nice. I would have liked a couple of medium size bowls in the cabinets but I was not willing to remove a star. The breakfast was hot and fresh every morning. There were slight variations each day which was nice for those staying for a week. The coffee was hot and fresh! They made an effort to have non dairy and gluten free options. The staff kept this area pristine. The biggest 5 star area was the staff. It did not matter if the staff was front desk, house keeping, maintenance etc...they were all about courtesy and making your stay lovely. I am also letting the corporate office know. read more

I have stayed here before and knew to ask for a room on the opposite side of the highway, there is ZERO sound barrier. It's like sitting right next to I75 and hearing every semi go by, amplified. When checking in I asked, please make sure I'm not on side with the highway, I'm a light sleeper, she assured me I was not. Lies! Also, I am Marriott Ambassador status, so a bit surprised the request was not met. Do not stay in the "front rooms" or the sides facing the highway, this leaves very little options. Even with my noise app turned up in volume you can hear the highway. The HVAC in the room is hit or miss staying on, so can't count on that to help cover the noise either. The rooms are clean, a bit out of date and need a refresh. No full length mirrors which I find odd for a long term stay location. The pool needs an update, the workout room very small. The staff is friendly, helpful, energetic which is refreshing. They have onsite washer/dryer for $2 a load ( do it yourself). Breakfast served in the morning, I did not partake and cannot comment. Wifi stayed solid and strong entire time, except in stairways. The location is good for travelers, easy access to an assortment of grocery stores, shopping centers and restaurants of all variety. I doubt I stay here again, I need sleep and this place does not allow for it. Room also lacks Kleenex and the dishwasher soap has not been replaced. read more

This hotel has a mattress problem. My mattress had such a sag in it I would have thought an elephant had slept in it. The management was aware of the problem but there solution was just to swap my mattress for one in another room. Kinda like a mattress roulette. I'm a small person and even the "new" mattress was too soft. Housekeeping was non-existent. The air condition was noise when turned on and is right over bed. The refrigerator would occasionally sound like a train going by and you could not be in the room when the dishwasher was running. Now everyone working there was nice but this hotel is not up to Marriott standards. read more

These two people and the cleanliness of the room are the only reason this is not a one star too many for a one-star review. Do not tote yourself as a business travelers hotel if you cannot provide a connection great than 5MB/s consistently. I am more frustrated trying to just save my work than trying to work productively in silence thanks to a TV that cannot work properly. Internet - SO PAINFULLY SLOW! Even the HBO GO would not work, buffered every 10-20 seconds for 5-20 seconds. 1.1 MB/s max for a speed check. Called the front desk, offered to call their ISP of they got more complaints. I have tried using my cellphone, laptop, and TV, all fail to work. Cellphone reception - 0-1bar of 4G... Cannot fix the internet issues with cell network making it that much more painful. Rooms - Exactly what someone away from home for a few days would want to have in hand. Full fridge, sink, couch, desk, even a stovetop, and dishes to boot for meal prep. Guess I could have brought the leftovers from Henry's back with me. Oh, the crawfish I am missing out on... Night two of bad internet... Still not fixed. Even after coworkers complained of the exact same issue as I did. TV HBO GO is worse: 5-10 play time, 10-30 seconds of buffering. Another call and the front desk said that they are working with their ISP to fix the issue. That was almost 2 hours ago and yet nothing has changed... multiple tests 0.99MB/s or "Failure to complete" due to a dropped internet connection. That is a wrap for me. My flight is in 9 hours and I look forward to the WiFi on the plane where I have never had this much issue with internet access. read more

Stayed one night on pints last weekend while traveling. Stay was very loud all night for various reasons. Took a shower and noticed used dirty towel over the shower bar from previous people. Room wasn't cleaned well and left more tired than when arrived. Upon checkout I shared and asked for points to be reimbursed. Person was apologetic and went in the back and came out and said of course we will reimburse your points. Well, that hasn't happened and now they don't know what I'm talking about. I wasn't going to leave a negative review because they were taking action but shame on them for saying one thing and doing another. Won't stay here again. read more

While certain aspects of the hotel are updated and nice, many other aspects are screaming for attention. #1 - AC. We kept our AC on 65 degrees because we like it cold. We both woke up several times each night in the middle of the night hot. #2 - who puts carpet in the elevator? #3 - who puts carpet in front of the bathroom sink? While the customer service was great, the price doesn't equal the stay. read more

Very Pet Friendly We only stayed 1 night here while our dog was being treated at UF Animal Hospital, there aren't many options in Gainesville for nice accommodations so we took a chance with the Residence Inn. I have to say I was happily surprised, check-in was easy and the staff was very friendly and accommodating to us and our dog. Our room was impeccable, it had a small kitchen with a fridge sink and stovetop, fully stocked cabinet with plates, pots and pans and silverware, a small living room with a TV, king bed, another TV and well lit vanity and bathroom. This hotel is far from a resort type hotel, but we found it comfortable for 1 night. They serve complimentary breakfast, have a gym and pool. The staff really won us over, they were professional and very attentive. read more

Only spent one night and one breakfast here. Breakfast was reasonably well serviced with fresh fruit, cottage cheese, and yogurt (see photos). HOWEVER, how can a guest feel good about a place with dirt & mold growing on the building, right outside my 4th floor window (see photos)!!! It makes you suspect the cleanliness elsewhere on property. Pricing is very opportunistic as it happened to be graduation weekend, so rates were through the roof ($279/nt....whatever the market can bear). Thankfully I had a Marriott certificate for a free night (category 1-4). read more

I stayed here this past weekend. Everyone at the front desk was polite, however when I left the hotel I got home to find a charge on my credit card that no one can explain why it's is there. I called several times and the general manager reached out to me, said she will call back and no one ever did. I asked for a copy and breakdown of my bill and I am still waiting. The is my first time visiting Gainesville and I am so disappointed. I will never stay here again. Beware and make sure to have them print you a copy of your receipt before leaving. The workout room is 82-83 degrees without A/C. The patio and pool are dominated by smokers, making it a very unpleasant experience for non-smokers... not to mention the stench from the soot left behind. The rooms are, what are now, standard run of the mill MRI. The manager's evening went the way of Covid-19, as did the cleaning of the rooms. The price is the same... Ugggg. This place is terrible. First it backs up the interstate and is very loud in the rooms. Second, the room clearly wasn't cleaned (during the pandemic) and the cleaning staff don't wear masks. There was hair in the shower, and screws on the bedroom floor, a lack of towels, one tiny bar of soap, a broken table leg, and a sunken in sofa. And they don't even provide a hair dryer. Then to add insult to injury, the grab and go breakfast is truly the worst I've ever encountered. It was so terrible that one bite was enough to send us out for breakfast. Even worse, by the time we got back at 10:10 breakfast had been closed and so we couldn't even get coffee. They close the coffee station down too! Thankfully our room had a coffee maker but sadly limited powder creamer and sweetener. About the only positives is the bed was comfortable and the water pressure was good. Still, we absolutely will not stay here again. We are rewards members and this is by far the worst Residence Inn we have ever stayed in. Lesson learned, we won't be back. read more

I travel often and this is one of the worst hotels I have stayed in. It just need to be gutted: Carpets all stained, windows have not been washed in ages, ice maker was broke. Two legs on table broke off and just laid against the wall, couch has to go you will fall through it if you dare to sit in the many stains. Nothing in this place is clean but at least the sheets and pillow were clean in the very old bed. Pool has no shaded areas and is next to the parking lot so you can enjoy the car exhaust as people pull in. read more

Property is dingy, smells like dog, dog hair in the rooms. The hotel is pet friendly which is fine, but with that courtesy comes the necessity to do a VERY thorough cleaning to get the hotel back up to standard. The chairs had dog hair, the couch was stained, the tables had cup rings on it which told me they did not wipe them down between guests. The door handles had fingerprint marks all over it. The shower did not drain properly and the tub backed up while using it. Not to mention, this was the SECOND room we got because the first one smelled musty. Surprisingly the bed was clean which is good. Would not stay here again. read more

Found this hotel, since we wanted to go to ginnie springs, and I love the marriott brand. I had never stayed in a residence inn, and this one was so cozy. The rooms were clean, and very spacious. With full kitchens and pet friendly. I was impressed with the breakfast. The waffle batter was ready to go. And the staff was constantly refilling the stations. They were even nice enough to open up their meeting space so that my party of 13 may eat together! The front desk staff was so nice and answered all my questions. The night shift young lady was great when i checked it. It was a great experience! I will def recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area read more

from the moment we walked in, there was a smell. Of what we were unsure. The floors from the lobby on were carpeted. Filthy, old carpet. We were ready to leave before we even made it to our room. I have been informed many people reside in this hotel. And it shows. All over the halls, all over the walls, and all over the room we were provided. The smell, it was back and stronger then ever. Possibly food from residents past. Possibly from the musty carpets and furniture we were looking at. It was loud, and proud. We cancelled our reservation and quickly rolled out. Everything seemed clean. Housekeeper I encountered was very polite. Docked 2 stars for my unacceptable experience below. My wife is 5 months pregnant. For obvious reasons she needs extra pillows for comfort. At approximately 11pm I called the front desk and requested an additional pillow or 2. (There is an additional pillow located in the closet however no pillow case and this pillow was dirty/stained). The desk agent quickly responded to me that he did not know where housekeeping keeps pillows and had already tried searching for pillows for a guest moments before me without any luck. I have hotel experience so I inquired if the hotel was sold out to which he said no. I recommended that he use his master key, or print a new key, and go into an unoccupied room and remove the pillow and place that room out of service. He said this was not possible. Having years of experience in hotels i know that both his excuses were not legitimate. Maybe they were in the middle of a PM shift to Night audit shift change, I dont know but doesnt matter either way. Of course I gave my wife my pillows and she slept well. This interaction/experience however is not acceptable. Everything beyond this was just fine. read more

Stay here once a year. The mattress was very uncomfortable. They had shampoo, conditioner and body wash in pumps in the shower. I prefer the travel sizes that other Marriott hotels have. Staff was extremely courteous and a very good breakfast selection. While I like the kitchen in the room and a separate bedroom, I may look for a different hotel next year. read more

My family and I came here to meet up with extended family. We usually stay elsewhere for a little cheaper but I feel you do get a lot more for your money here. The outside deck and area are great especially with the fire-pit and sofas to relax in. Check in was easy and staff extremely friendly. We got a regular room on the 5th floor. Since it was the top floor we had 10 foot high ceilings which made the room feel much more spacious. Don't get me wrong for a hotel room this was larger than normal but it made it feel a lot bigger. We enjoyed having a full kitchen and separate bathroom sink from the shower and toilet. Breakfast had many more options than other Brands such as Hampton and Country Inn (granted those are about $15-20 cheaper, guess u get what u pay for). Eggs, bacon, corn dogs, fresh fruits and some limited veggie topping (today was salsa and green onions which made it nice to make the eggs tex mex style with sour cream and cheddar cheese). Make your own waffles, yogurt parfait with fresh fruit and granola. Some pastry items as well as toast & bagels with all the fixings. Check out was easy, we just left the keys in the room. I like Residence Inn's! I stay often while I travel. I was exactly happy with our room, the set up, and the biggest issue is I had to wipe all tables down( I Lysol even door knobs) my purse stuck to the counter. I let them know and I will speak to management. The staff as always polite. read more

Good place to stay. I've been staying here in and off for the past few years on my visits to the area. Hotel is always clean, staff friendly and rooms in good order. Suggestion is to ask for rooms not facing the interstate, it can be very loud if you don't. They have a good breakfast for a hotel. Happy hours include beer and wine. Only suggestion is to upgrade the mattress. Stayed again and had to swap room because A/C went out. This happened at 11:15PM, staff was very good to me. Three weeks prior the shower had no hot water and I dealt with it. read more

Why not start off 2016 with a review of the place where I've been frequenting during training of my new job (that's why I was MIA from Yelp for the last two months of 2015)... but anyway, I like the Residence Inn over the other few I've stayed at in Gainesville for week long stays because of the amenities this hotel provides that are perfect for such long stays. I always get the studio suite since it's just me, and I love the fact that there are kitchenettes with burners, a full size fridge, and even a dishwasher(!) to cook your own food so you're not tempted to go out on Archer Rd and get something fast and unhealthy (and well, I am trying to stick to one of my New Years resolutions...). The suites are equipped with everything you need to also cook: pots, frying pan, dishes and silverware, and even free microwave popcorn! (I'm being serious.) There is a desk and a small seating area, and in the studio suite the TV is on a swivel, so you can watch TV in bed or while lounging on the couch. There is plenty of sink space for your toiletries and the bed so really comfortable, to the point where I have struggled to get up a few times to get to training on time. Monday through Wednesday the hotel has complimentary bites and light food during the evening, so forget trying to figure out what to eat for dinner! Plus there may be free wine and beer available on one of those nights as well. Breakfast is pretty good and there's a nice variety, such as scrambled eggs, cereal, fruit and yogurt parfait, muffins and make your own waffles. There is plenty of parking, but it gets filled quickly and it can be a walk to the lobby depending on how far you have to park. The small fitness center is ok, there are weights, two treadmills and the elliptical. The two treadmills are a bit shaky, so I've been sticking to the elliptical when I need to get my workout in. The best part is that there are TVs attached to the cardio equipment. There is also a laundry facility and an outdoor pool. Staff are very friendly and will answer any questions you may have. One in particular, Jodi, is really awesome and have been great with helping me out if I had an issue. This hotel is ideal for long term stays, and who can't say no to FREE FOOD when they offer it during the week nights?! read more

We only stay at Marriotts for the most part, so I tend to compare them to each other. This Marriott is directly off I-75, it has a Target and Publix in close proximity. Check in was smooth, the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. We got up to the room around 3:30 and immediately turned down the a/c as the room was hot. The room was spacious and clean. I love when the toilet is separate from the sink so one person was get ready while the other showers without getting hot from the steam of the shower. The kitchen was great, had everything you need for an extended stay. We went out and ran some errands and got back aroun 5. The room was still extremely hot. We had to get ready for a wedding, long dressfor me and a tux for him. We were sweating like crazy. On our way our we stopped and asked the front desk if this was normal. He explained that this was an eco-friendly hotel and that the A/C shuts off between certain hours if there is no motion in the room (each room is equipped with numerous motion detectors) Now that we know, we may shy away from Residence Inn Marriotts that operate this way. I am all for being eco-friendly, but I don't enjoy sweating my butt off! The toilet didn't flush well, but I won't really knock them for that because I didn't take the time to report it since this was just a one night stay. We asked for extra towel, they took a good hour to arrive. The breakfast spread was large, many choices were available. The eggs were overdone and not very good, but I was able to fill out on some of the other items offered and those were decent. We didn't have a chance to enjoy the patio area, but it looked quite nice. THe lobby area also has a small fireplace that looked nice at night. Overall, this is a decent hotel, and I would have rated it higher,but the lack of A/C really doesn't work well in Florida. read more

I have stayed in several Residence Inn properties and this one is my favorite. What a great concept, thank you Marriott. The rooms are very comfortable, they are set up like small apartments with enough amenities to prepare meals and snacks. A buffet breakfast with eggs and waffles is included in your stay. The staff here go out of their way to make sure your visit to Gainesville is a good one. We were here during Hurricane Matthew, so they were very busy and still managed to keep everything clean. Thank you for taking such good care of us. My daughter is a freshman at UF so I'll be back! Go Gators! read more

Not much new that I can add from the previous reviews. Hotel is nice, new and clean. I love that they're "green." The staff is excellent. My room was the size of a studio apartment - much smaller than I'm used to for a multi-month stay, but some folks are sleeping in the streets so I shouldn't complain. Close to all shopping w/ freeway access. I have a car, so I guess I don't mind that part. Here is my huge issue: the walls are paper-thin. I hear people urinating upstairs like they're standing inches from my face. I'm embarrassed for them and for thinking what the people below me must hear! A toilet flush sounds like Niagara and I always pray the pipes/ceiling don't disintegrate since it's directly above my bed. There's also a rhythmic "daaaaaaaDUM" noise near the elevators, but I'm unsure where it's coming from. Even in the back rooms you can hear the highway traffic clearly. Horrendous design means I'd test another hotel first. IF I stayed here again, it would be on the fifth floor far away from the elevators. Oh, yeah, and the power has gone out 3 times in the last 4 weeks, so bring your own alarm clock just in case. EDIT: Staff is still top notch. Walls are still paper-thin. Would stay here again, though. read more

First night - sheets had blood stains. Manager dropped off new sheets, but did not change them. After manager dropped off sheets he left for the night, and subsequent manager stated policy was that they could not man the desk and tend to the rooms alone. So, I proceeded to replace the sheets only to find out the sheets that were dropped off were the wrong size sheets. Being a Marriott Elite rewards member, I at least expected Marriott to carry out their most basic duties - housekeeping. read more
