Another review I swore I wrote. Even thought we reside in Ocala, we have stayed here twice in the past year when my husband had to depart or arrive at Gainesville Regional Airport. We have stayed at another hotel in the past but it is not part of the Hilton brand. Both times we stayed here, the weather was colder. The first time, we used the fire pit outside and the fireplace in the lobby was on but not the recent visit. I was looking forward to that. We had a digital key and I arrived prior to hubs, with no issues. The room was clean but there were no regular coffee kcups- just tea and decaf. I unfortunately did not notice that until the morning but was smart enough to bring my own. I used the shower first, which the cold water was almost non existent. If I turned the dial maybe to the 11 o'clock dial, it was not scolding my skin. The water also felt very slimy, which I believe means the water was soft. We had credits to use so after I picked up hubs, we went to the bar in the lobby for a couple of drinks. There was only one employee working and he was super busy. There were a lot of patrons there so we ordered drinks from him in between him taking care of others. We were enjoying ourselves lounging in the lobby and were able to order a second round. Their lobby is very nice and cozy. We requested a late checkout when we were done and told 1pm. Hubs paid in advance for the breakfast so we headed there around 10am. When we checked at the front desk, one of the breakfast staff informed us they did not have much food left. I thought that was messed up because breakfast is not included so there should be plenty of stock. The kitchen dude cooked us up some eggs and bacon, which I think was the last of what they had. We also checked with the desk to assure we had the late checkout, to which the employee gave us an earlier time. We then reiterated what was given to us the previous night and he put it in the computer. Shockingly, housekeeping knocked on the door of course at noon and we had to tell them again. We do like this hotel and will consider this location the next time we stay in Gainesville but will not pay for the breakfast and I will have to check immediately entering the room for supplies. The staff were professional and friendly so that is always a positive attribute. read more

**UPDATE** After speaking to customer service, they DID credit me some hilton rewards point. So they DID make up for the stay. Grateful for that** Immediately upon arrival there were young kids playing baseball in parking lot, parents got upset that I wanted to get through to park car...that was the beginning of the end...went in to check in and noticed they were hosting A LOT of kids baseball players. I asked if I left and didnt check if if they'd NOT charge me as I didnt want to stay in a Hilton with a lot of screaming obnoxious kids. Clerk said that NO they WOULD still charge me. OOOOOK then. Then mid conversation with desk girl, some rude dude stumbles up to the front desk asking where the bar is. Front desk cuts off my conversation and tells him where to go to meet his friends. Like what?! You're checking me in...why cater to that type of person when you're already dealing with a guest? There were limited rooms available so I was on first floor. The room itself was great...except mini frig didn't work (apparently common in gainesville) However, within minutes of being in room with door shut I could hear and feel the thumping music and kids screaming. I was there on a BUSINESS trip. I detest thumping foul music to begin with but especially at a HILTON! I expect more than that. I've never had this problem or any problem at any other Hilton other than now the 2 in Gainesville. I was advised by the front desk that "quiet time" starts at 11pm. That's pure insanity and totally unacceptable. In the morning when I checked out the gentleman that was at front desk asked how my stay was. I replied "awful" He wanted to know why. I proceeded to explain and he made excuses the entire time. Told me "That's Gainesville. A sports community." blah blah blah. I don't care if it's Gainesville or anywhere else, when I go to a Hilton I expect peace, quiet, quality otherwise I could stay at a grotesque Motel 8 or some nasty place. Ironically though I've now stayed at 2 different Hiltons in Gainesville and apparently "it IS Gainesville" equates to low quality, substandard service and accommodations. The other hilton was gross/nasty/maintenance issues but quiet...The Garden Inn Hilton was opposite...clean but loud, rude and obnoxious. After this stay, I've decided I will no longer be doing business in Gainesville because it's apparent that the Hilton's there don't meet my expectations like they do in Ormond Beach, Daytona and other areas. TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY and wish I had driven the 300+ miles home when I was done with my client on Saturday instead of staying...had I known how bad it was going to be, I'd have gone ahead and lost my $170 for the night and driven straight back. My daughter was in the ICU until at a nearby hospital, so my son found us hotel rooms fairly close by. Hotel lobby is clean and staff was very pleasant. I had a king-size room. Phone did not work, so I could not call the desk for any questions. I was exhausted from driving from Lake City where my daughter had been air-transported to Gainesville, and then into the ICU, so all I wanted was a hot shower and sleep for a few hours. Unfortunately the shower did not work. You pulled the plunger for the shower, and it trickles out at the top. That's when I found out the phone didn't work when i tried to call and let them know. I just did what I could and went to sleep. The walls are very thin, and it sounded as if a 500 pound gorilla was above me. Stomping and very loud (I know the hotel can't control guests stomping, but some type of sound barrier would help). The next day we got a notice that there would be no water service for most of the day. Thank goodness I had planned on being at the hospital all day, and didn't need water. I had only booked 2 nights as we weren't sure how long we were going to need to be in that area, and when I tried to extend the price was going to go up by more than double. This is not a hotel that is worth $250+ a night by any stretch. No free breakfast, shower doesn't work, phone didn't work. So I opted to check out and find elsewhere to stay. Also, parking is almost impossible to come by. They are in a lot with another hotel, and we had much difficulty each time we returned trying to find a spot anywhere near the hotel. read more

We arrived earlier than the normal check in time but as Gold members we were allowed to check in around 2:45pm since our room was ready. The registration and check in were handled by a very pleasant and efficient young man. Our room was selected online as was our digital key. The room was clean, well appointed and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. We had breakfast in the dining area and were served by a very nice and courteous young man, Jacob. We love staying here when we visit family in Gainesville. We've never been disappointed in the staff, service or accommodations. read more

We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn for one night while visiting Gainesville for our daughter's graduation and were very pleased with our experience. The hotel entrance is beautifully designed providing an inviting atmosphere. Our room was elegantly, without feeling stuffy and had ample storage space. While we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, there is room for improvement in the quality of the mattresses and linens--considering an upgrade or adding a mattress topper would enhance overall comfort. However, despite this, we found the hotel to be exceptionally quiet and restful, making our stay a pleasant one! read more

Greetings! Firstly, I am a quadriplegic and my wife and I have found Hampton Inn to be the most consistent handicap friendly hotel. Last week we had an appointment at Shands hospital in Gainesville Florida. The Hampton did not have a handicap room available so we booked Garden Inn. Being handicapped it takes us a lot of extra equipment to be able to take showers etc. Our son was with us this trip because my wife is weak from an autoimmune. We got everything to the room and unpacked and assembled the shower chair, bed rail etc when my son noticed a pile of dog poop on the carpet. I called the desk and he reported back there was no housekeeping available - he moved us to another room. Easier said than done for us. To pack up, move and unpack is a lot of effort. In that room unfortunately the bed was at least 6" higher than my chair. We use a transfer board and in the morning after my shower my wife was too weak to make that work. Fortunately my son was there and came to the rescue. He reported to us that his AC didn't work in his room PLUS we saw another big stain on the carpet. All in all a very unpleasant experience. I've stayed here on a couple different occasions and my experience has been ok. First, the good: +The rooms are clean and spacious +The staff is lovely and accommodating in every way +The lobby has plenty of seating if you want to to a little work but don't want to stay in your room +Check in and check out was a breeze +It doesn't precisely look like it (and could therefore be overlooked) but they do have a small bar area in the lobby. The less than ideal: +On my recent visit, they were doing some sort of work next door which resulted in several of the parking spaces for this inn being taken up with equipment. Not a huge deal but I was there when the inn was neary at capacity. So, I came back from an event after dark to find no parking spaces. I had to get permission from the front desk to park illegally (as there's no on street parking or really any other nearby parking to speak of). Fortunately, the front desk was super accommodating and kind. +The inn seems older and a bit dated +I generally love the beds at Hiltons...but this one was overly firm and uncomfortable +I could easily hear the conversations being had in adjacent rooms All in all an ok spot to stay but would likely try something else on my next trip to town. read more

The most important thing about a hotel should be a good night's sleep. So, you'd think that you would invest in the best quality bedding and standardize it across your chain. The only standard about this bedding is the duvet and comforter. The bed is rock hard and the pillows are lame. Lumpy foam or feather so thin you're just at mattress level. This has become more the norm than not at Hilton. It's a complete loss of control of their brand to really cheap management companies. I've been playing their program for 25 years and watched its deterioration. I wish I had stuck with the other major brand now. With digital key I might as well be any random guest. They're running a point promotion (rare thing these days) for digital key and I am trying it on this trip. Why not? No one has thanked me for being lifetime diamond in years or upgraded my room anyway. Hilton had devalued their points drastically over the last decade and it continues. Meanwhile the prices of their stays have skyrocketed. I'm thinking you should Priceline Gainesville because you want like this HGI. I didn't. read more

Very easy to access. Be aware that the parking lot does not go around the building so if you have a long vehicle do not go to the front! The room was clean and very spacious. Towels were fluffy and very freshly washed. They have just started breakfast again. (We left too early to use it) Look and fitness center were clean and towels are available at the front desk. Bed was very comfortable and extra pillows were a nice surprise. read more

Our experience was excellent from the minute we entered the hotel. Every single associate was upbeat, friendly, and helpful. Our room had a sofa, desk, microwave, TV, coffee maker, small frig. and terrific bed. Bathroom was roomy, clean and even had a night light. We even had dinner in the dining/social area...we shared 3 large and yummy appetizers and a bottle of wine. Breakfast was made to order, not self-made waffles and kept-warm eggs...nice surprise to start the day. There was even a small "store" with single serve wines, microwaveable meals, snacks...and a full bar. I was ready to move in! read more

This property is in a good location, which is about the best thing I can say about it. The public spaces are fine; it's your average HGI, and the room was spacious, but the bathroom was dated, and the bed and pillows were really uncomfortable. I don't know how it is that a brand hotel, which is in the sleep business, gets away with cheaping out so egregiously on bedding, but it made for a sleepless night. Lumpiest pillows ever, flattest pillows ever, and a cheap, hard mattress. Hilton needs to take a good long look at its brands. read more

Recently stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn. The staff was very friendly and helpful especially since it was a busy weekend due the graduations at the University of Florida. Another nearby hotel was overbooked and gave me the option to stay here and a discount would be provided on my stay. I was given 2 complimentary breakfasts that included pancakes, fresh toast, and omelettes made to order. The hotel was clean and easy to get to from the turnpike. This was our first stay in The Drury Inn & Suites and I was pretty excited bc I heard they were nice, which is not what you'd expect from the exterior, only bc the exterior was so plain. Our experience wasn't great unfortunately. We were in town for the holidays for one night. It was around 8:30p when we checked in and we were tired from the festivities. When we lugged our bag and two dogs up to the first room...it had a clogged sink (the stopper thing was stuck in locked mode) and the mini refrigerator wasn't working properly; it wasn't cool or cold. The front desk staff to talk us through the process of adjusting their frig for us but that work. They offered to send maintenance up to our room to fix the sink...we declined and asked for a room in good repair. Our second room was fine except the frig in that room also was turned off and and never actually cooled down. Luckily the ice machine was working fine. We were able to ice the food until the next day. It was explained to us that the cleaning staff most likely turned the frig down to defrost, to better clean it, which would is great (yay, clean frig) but that was extremely inconvenient for our stay. Not sure why they wouldn't turn it back on so the customers could use it. Anyways, we were offered a third room but we were exhausted and I was getting cranky. Unfortunately, again, the a/c took until the next morning (7:00 am -ish) to cool down to the temperature i set it on (67 degrees), so we didn't sleep well. I gave this 3 stars bc the staff was friendly and the manager was pleasant and offered my gf a comp stay and the breakfast was pretty good hotel breakfast. It was definitely not the worst stay but it wasn't very good either. The a/c is crucial in Florida. That's my review of our stay. On a more positive noted: While well maintained grounds, the exterior is kinda plain but it's nice and clean. The lobby is quite large and there are several areas with plenty of charging ports. It's a useful set up for hotels near airports, not so much this area but I don't know what their busy season looks like so, ‍. The elevators are spacious and have mirrored walls which I personally love. The corridors are typical BUT they don't have the old hotel odor. This hotel is relatively new and it appears they keep up with it. It's obviously dog friendly, which was great for us! I didn't use the pool but from as far as I can tell it's clean and looks nice from a far. I forgot to mentioned this above, the rooms were clean. I still recommend sanitizing any hotel room but this one smelled nice but no fragrant and I looked like someone actually cleaned it. No soap scum, dirty doors, or stuff in the walls. The lighting was good too. Two strange things note worthy, the bathrooms don't have fans and that's kinda gross and also, the trash cans didn't have trash bags in them.... So weird. read more

Hotel is at perfect location, not too far from the University and close enough to get on Highway. The staff were pleasant and courteous. The rooms are a bit outdated, ole furniture and fixings. Cracked bathroom sink, still had hair in the bathtub from previous guest. And hair on clean towels, extremely gross. Had all items replaced but come on housekeeping get it together. They serve breakfast and drinks in the evening. Also room service. They have an onsite gym and the front desk area has a really nice area to lounge around. I was traveling home to TN and needed a place to shut my eyes for a few hours. Since it was after midnight, I figured I would have a tough time finding something reasonably priced. I was right - the local Choice hotel jacked their prices up by $25. Other hotels were full. Then I found this gem of a place! I am a Diamond Hilton Honours Member - there is simply no more beautiful sight than that lovely reserved spot for us Diamond members! I slid into the space, grabbed my gear and walked in. The gentleman at the desk was super nice and hooked me up with a room right away. He got my complimentary bottles of water with a smile and had me on my way to the room fast. The room was comfortable. The bed was heavenly! I fell asleep fast and hard! When I woke up, I realized I wouldn't make it to grab my breakfast on the go. All good, I thought. Got my gear ready, packed up, and headed for the desk. Funny enough, the lady at the desk was so sweet, she made me an on the go bag anyway! Hot coffee was waiting in the lobby, too! I am so pleased with the cleanliness of the hotel and the cheery staff, too! I couldn't have asked for a better result. Experiences like this is why I enjoy being a Hilton Honours member! My visit April 23-24 was greeted with friendly staff with checking quick and efficient. Room was clean and comfortable.

We have been staying at this location for many years, and have found the cleanliness and staff to be consistently dependable. The check-in process went smoothly and efficiently. Our room was clean and comfortable, well stocked with clean towels. Breakfast is what we expected from an HGI - not 5 star, but we didn't leave hungry. We spent three nights, and each morning, Judit greeted us with a smile and pleasant conversation in the breakfast area. She was efficient, and provided everything we needed, an absolute delight! Any questions or concerns we may have had were handled quickly by the ever-smiling front-desk personnel. In particular, Paola, was very helpful and friendly. We did notice that the lobby and breakfast areas are looking tired, and the furniture is showing some wear. However, we did see new furniture in the pool area, so maybe the lobby/breakfast areas are schedule for refurbishing, as well. The hotel's location is great - right off of I-75 and within walking distance to many good restaurants and shopping. We look forward to returning next year. read more

I've stayed here on my visits to Gainesville and I will say this. 1. Convenient location to shops, restaurants and University of Florida. 2. Clean rooms, comfy beds. **Room tip. Unplug the mini fridge or you will never sleep. 3. Super friendly staff. Actually everyone in Gainesville is friendly. 4. In-house restaurant and mini-bar. This is my advice on this. If you are hungry and want your food in a reasonable time, go to a restaurant. If you are working and in no rush, it's fine. The menu does not offer much options though. As I don't sleep good while away from my own bed, I have slept better here than pricier places. read more

I have to stay in Gainesville often for work and try to choose a Hilton for my membership. The Garden Inn had a much better price, so I went for it and the stay was great! The customer service here is amazing, they are super accommodating and so incredibly polite. Dee at the front desk was such a pleasure when I checked in and even remembered me the second time I visited. The breakfast has a lot of options and the dining room is very large! The rooms are also quite spacious with plenty of room to move around and unpack! My bed and bathroom were very clean and the shower head had the best water pressure I've had from a hotel in a while. I did take one star off because parking here is difficult. If you don't get lucky with a spot on the side or up front, there is a small parking lot in the back that is not well lit and requires you to walk around to the front (if you're checking in and don't already have a key). Otherwise, I very much enjoyed my stay! read more

The overnight stay started off great from a customer service perspective. We arrived late at night to a ground floor room. Their was a party in the room next to ours and someone kept coming outside to smoke weed. Not the environment I wanted for my family. We asked to be moved, and the front desk took care of us right away. The next morning we got up and went downstairs for breakfast. We had stayed at a Hilton Garden Inn in Winston-Salem North Carolina the night before and we were quite impressed with the breakfast and the price. This was on Father's Day morning. It was about 9:30 in the morning. Every single table was completely dirty and there was nowhere to sit. There was only one other group at a table. It look like everybody had gotten up at once and left the tables just completely disgusting. There was only one person waiting tables. We had to get up to get our own silverware and drinks. It took forever to get to coffee and when it came out it was cold. Finally we got our order in and omelettes were messed up. We noticed several other people coming downstairs for coffee and to eat breakfast. They got frustrated and had to get up and get your own silverware and coffee as well. There was at least three other people trying to get service after us and they were all pretty disgusted. At some point we realized that just about every food item needed to be restocked on the breakfast buffet. The one person doing it was not competent and was overwhelmed and wasn't prioritizing what should be done. We should have left and went somewhere else. Other than the breakfast area the hotel was clean and the rooms were clean. I'm giving it one star primarily because the service had the breakfast bar was absolutely terrible and took forever and the food items wer not well stocked in the coffee was either out or cold. read more

I always had a good experience at this hotel but tonight when we checked in there was a terrible smell - kind of sickly sweet rotting. The hotel staff moved us to another room but it also smelled, not quite as badly. . Not sure why the halls are ok. Staff was nice but the smell is hard to overcome. read more

Stopped here on a college tour to University of Florida with a group of 20 young girls and they were very accommodating with out group. The check-in and check-out process was extremely quick and easy which was very helpful. The host was friendly, answered our questions, and helped us get to our rooms very quickly after a long day. The one problem I experienced was getting into the room. The key worked fine, as the green light would show to enter but the door was stuck and my the lady I shared a room with almost broke her hip tryin to push the door open. Anywhooooo...The rooms were spacious and the bathroom was also very spacious and looked as if had just been remodeled. The bed was extremely comfy and the fact that the AC kept the air circulating was a big plus as hotel rooms get a bit stuffy. We took advantage of the breakfast (I think it was $9 a person) and the food was decent. They even had a cook to order situation where you could order an omelette or French toast. Good job Hilton Gainesville! read more

So I hear footsteps? Garden Inn isn't my favorite Hilton brand, but the couple I've stayed at in the past year were clean with friendly and well-trained staff. This one in Gainesville is all that. The breakfast in the morning is of good quality - certainly a few notches above any Homewood Suites, never mind a Hampton. But this property had a huge problem - we were on the third floor, and all night long, we heard this guy on the floor above us walking around. He either didn't sleep or there were multiple people in that room, and at least ONE person was on an all-night pacing mission/vigil, or I was imagining everything. I did not get a good night sleep. Come to think of it, it's a wonder that this isn't a problem more often, but this time it sure was. read more

Hotel slipped a notice under my door my first night there saying that they needed to access my room for carpet cleaning. Since I have my service animal I told them I needed to move into another hotel because I couldn't take the dog into my work. They said they didn't want to make me have to do that and after speaking several times to the front desk after they spoke to the General manager. Finally they said I could move into a room that they do the carpets in first so they could let me move into a new room to clean my rooms carpets. Well...I had a camera in my room and I saw someone had come into my room even though they said they would call me so I could move my service dog and belongings. I had my do not enter sign on my door. They entered unlawfully. This hotel doesn't care about your rights or if you have a disability. The general manager hides in his office so the front line people have to deal with problems. Wish i could leave no stars. This is a looser hotel. Oh and I'm s diamond member. Is this any way to treat a loyal customer??????????? read more

Hotel decor is new. Bed are great! Staff service and the breakfast cafe were awesome! There is a line cook there who is happy to make you an omelette of your choosing. Room service is handled by Texas roadhouse which is definitely ok by me. My only complaint (and the reason for the subsequest 3 stars) is that the walls in this place are made of tissue paper. I'm thinking that they guy upstairs was either: a) running wind sprints most of the night or b) trying to catch his pet Gerbil The gentleman in the room next to me was in the washroom quite a bit. And lastly, the woman across the hall must have watched Finding Nemo at least 2 times. Either way, I'd stay again. read more

Dated Rooms We stayed here on our trip because we had stayed at another Garden Inn that was very updated and nice. However it was the contrary on this Garden Inn. Very puke rooms that are 15 years dated. It was average for being clean, but the decor was hard to get over. I wouldn't recommend to be honest. read more
