Stayed here on on award night during art basal so that was very nice. There is no area to check in. You pull into the garage and park. No bellmen to help you. You bring all your bags to your room yourself. The room we had was a king bedroom. I think it was their least expensive and honestly it was pretty nice. Decent size. Full size fridge, toaster, coffee maker, utensils. Nice shower. Nice and cool. Complimentary breakfast which was pretty bad. There is beach access but it's across the street. I'm guessing it's public. You stop off at the front desk and they give you towels and folding chairs. The pool is actually very nice. Looks like a nice resort should. They have a pool restaurant available (basically a window you order from and take the food to available tables). We didn't eat there, but it had a basic menu. overall, a perfectly fine hotel if you need a place to stay parking was $41 a day which you know, it's Miami, what can you say? They also had an additional $30 per day hotel fee, which is kind of obnoxious. read more

I'm sorry to say I was so disappointed with this hotel, especially as a Marriott member. The pros were that every one that worked there was nice and friendly for the most part. The rooms were nice. It was a short walk across the street to the beach, and I like that we got beach chairs and towels. The cons: first would be food service. Our first night we went to the lobby bar when they opened at 4. There is a sign that said to expect all food to take 30-45 minutes bc it's all made from scratch. Fine - so I ordered the hummus and veggie plate and the cheese quesadillas. We were just looking for something to eat with drinks to hold us over until our dinner reservations later (and for my child to eat). Well 50 minutes later we still had not received our food. I specifically ordered that bc I knew that even fresh, it wouldn't take that long. When I asked the bartender about it she went and checked right away and brought the food right out. The quesadillas were room temperature, so I assume they had been sitting out. I gave them the benefit of the doubt before I asked about the status since they had the sign there, but I regret waiting so long. Our last day, we naively decided to give the bar another try. We were at the pool, and the bar was supposed to open at 12. I stood there and no one came until over 10 minutes later. I out in our order (burger, chicken quesadillas, salad), and once again we didn't get our order until about an HOUR later. When we went to check out, the person we spoke to said we could turn in all our key cards and he would open the gate from the parking garage for us. Well when we went to leave, the exit gate did not open... the entrance gate was open though (not sure if this is what he meant?) but we went ahead and had to go the wrong way through the entrance gate to get out. Fortunately no cars were trying to enter at that time. Other than that, I felt the lobby area was a bit outdated. The rooms were nice and fairly clean, but it was obvious they weren't ever deep cleaned. There was a thick layer of dust on the cable box on the side of the tv stand (on the curtain side) which, granted, I only noticed because my 2-year-old was having fun squeezing through that small space to get to the bed. But the shower was a bit grungy too for looking otherwise new. So, while we still had a good trip overall and I would stay here again if there were nowhere else to stay, I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

Had a great 5-night stay here. Ciara at the front desk was fantastic! Super nice and accommodating. Easy check-in process. King bed suite was good sized and clean. Right across the street from the beach. Breakfast during my stay was good. Restaurants are within walking distance. I would recommend Cafe Ragazzi for sure. Publix food store is also within a 2 block walk, so it's easy to stock up the room with anything you might want or need I would stay again. Be aware they charge a $30 per day resort fee. Be aware that if you order food at the hotel it will take 50 minutes to a 1-hour to get it, no matter what you order. Be aware that drinks at the hotel are very expensive. So if you know all that in advance then you should be all set to make your own decisions on where you eat and get your drinks. read more

As a Goldmember with Marriott for over 17 I expect a little bit from the mid Range property in the resident Inn This property and the staff was pretty poor. Ordered a very simple meal at the pool at 4:45 PM and it did not arrive until 615. Gentlemen working at the bar, very kind and nice and he was over several times to apologize . However an hour and a half for the only table being served on a midweek night is not good. The front desk staff far more interested in their phones, each other than guest. "Unprofessional and Discriminatory Treatment at Residence Inn Surfside" On 7/19/2024, around 7 PM, we attempted to check in at the Residence Inn Surfside, where we encountered the manager Carlos. His behavior was extremely disrespectful, rude, and condescending. Carlos refused to check us in because my husband's card did not have a chip, implying that it could be fraudulent, despite it being a legitimate Visa credit card with my husband's name on it. After we provided a different card, Carlos then refused to honor my husband's employee discount because we did not have the paper printout. He asserted that having the employee discount was a "privilege" and threatened to revoke it if we did not "behave," treating us as if we were being unruly or hostile. At 45 years old, I have never been spoken to in such a demeaning manner or treated like a criminal. We explained that my husband could not log into the system because the entire nation was experiencing issues with certain sites, but Carlos was unsympathetic. Furthermore, as the only African American couple present, I strongly believe that if we were Hispanic or white, we would have received much more respect and not been treated like criminals. read more

If you are visiting Miami to spend time at the beach. I suggest you stay at the Marriot Residence Inn. The beach is just across the street and there is also a walking/bike path. We stayed in the king suite which has a microwave, full size fridge, mini dishwasher and a toaster. There is also a sofa. The bathroom was a nice size with a large shower. I liked that it was walkin, but I wish it had a door. The rooftop pool was perfect for spending a sunny day. There were plenty of tables and umbrellas as well as lounge chairs. They even had several cabanas. Unfortunately, when we tried to visit the snackbar by the pool, it was closed due to CoVid. If you decide to stay here, keep in mind that you will have to pay to park. read more

Compared to the other 2 hotels we had book in Miami this place was like heaven. It cost my wife and I about 678 for the night, but in a pinch and given my other options this was a small price to play. As soon as we hopped out the uber, a bellman came out and grab ALL of our bags. I tried to help him, but he absolutely insisted. We had a while to wait for our room, but had family staying here already so we hung out with them until our room was ready. The rooms were spacious, and just overall comfortable. Most importantly it was clean. I don;t really see why anyone would have an issue staying here outside of a random act of bad customer service. The staff at the desk did their job. Thats all I needed them to do. They got us into our room in a reasonable time, and check out was smooth as well. The pool area was clean, and no one bothered us on the late night as we hung out, outside the pool gates. We had some drinks, and a small speaker. Some employees walked through every now and then, but we kept it respectful, and they didn't disturb the vibes. If you can afford it, then I don't see any reason not to stay here. read more

This hotel is a combination of good, bad and ugly. GOOD: The bellman are second to none. The 3 guys we interacted with are amazing. Please tip these guys. There are awesome and super helpful. Our room also falls in the good category. Room 441 was very clean (including the bathroom) and the bed was extremely comfortable. Hotel offers bikes so you can enjoy a ride up and down the boardwalk. They also offer towels and beach chairs at no charge to enjoy at the public beach which is only a short walk away. BAD: The front desk is not very accommodating. We had a very hard time communicating with the lady at the front desk who tried convincing us that benefits of silver elite members and better that the benefits of gold elite Bonvoy member. We did arrive early, asked for early check in and was put on the list. Hour later we decided to check in on the app. Long story short we got notified by the app that our room was ready but never got a call from the hotel to check in. Parking is expensive at $28/night UGLY: Unfortunately the pool and the common grounds fall into this category. Even though we seen three hotel managers walking around during the day no one is paying attention to the common space behind the front lobby. It looks abundant and very uninviting. The pool is filthy. The walls are cover with scum (see my photos) and the pool has not been clean so long that people wrote all kinds of stuff by scraping into the dirt with fingernails. read more

Only stay here if you are planning on paying full price. Otherwise you will be bumped in favor of people who are paying full price. They will offer you accommodation at another location, which in their mind apparently makes it okay. But when the other location is close to an hour away and on other side of bridge so you are not close to beach, it is not comparable. And when they tell you they aren't honoring your reservation when you are trying to check in, so your options are extremely limited, it is really not okay. Luckily, we used to live in this area and know A LOT of locals, so my family separated and we stayed at various friends houses so we could stay in area. Very nice property and great location. Was very excited about staying here. Pool area was great and staff upgraded us to a bigger room. However, this hotel featured the worst bed that I have ever slept in at a hotel. This caused us to cut our stay short and check out. I don't know what type of bed they feature but this was beyond uncomfortable. It was similar to sleeping on a yoga mat on the floor. Everything else about the property was good. I stayed at this hotel and will be going back anytime I stay in Miami, it was the best! When I checked in Christophe greeted me and was so welcoming I immediately felt comfortable and at home. Christophe made sure I was completely taken care of and was so personable and kind. I travel often and have stayed at many Marriott properties around the world and the hospitality at this property was one of a kind. Beautiful pool and courtyard for lounging. Complimentary beach chairs and umbrellas for nice ocean days. The room was so spacious and modern. Room temperature could be changed within minutes. Breakfast was hearty and delicious. Location of this hotel was perfect for a night in Miami and then back to a nice quiet safe Surfside. I absolutely loved it!! read more

Horrible check in experience ... staff nice but says no to everything it's it's first response including how to get in and out of garage. I think the front desk is overwhelmed by every task and they just smile a lot and be aware of an extra charge for resort fee even if reservation says it's not owed rooms small and not the customary Marriott clean for example the shower has dirty spot in floor. Parking lot has no service and to get in and out is a chore be careful to make sure your card works to get in and out when parking I think the Marriott brand has not been aware of how the hotel needs an operation analysis to make sure things are clean and work. The corporate policy is not honored and vis a vi rates and fees manager Sharon we were told not on site for over three days also it's very loud in hallways. Check-in was not pleasant, the guy was cold and did not explain anything. I had to ask about breakfast. They charge you $40 for parking that they don't tell you about when you make a reservation or look on the app. They also charge you a daily fee for things that you don't know about. ... 2 beverages that I didn't use, tennis court, bicycle use, umbrellas. I'm here for one night, I don't get to use any of that since they ruined my check in.. It ended up taking over three hours.. and was a disaster. You have to park in a parking garage and you don't get to unload your luggage upfront. They don't care about allergies or health concerns. they let dogs run wherever. When I got to my room that was full of feathers, It took over 40 minutes to get somebody at the front desk to answer a phone. I had to sit in the hall and wait for almost an hour. Even after informing them of my severe allergies they sent me to another room that had feathers and they told me I could wait for them to come and change them. They're idiots! My rewards customer service told me that they were going to take care of me. The hotel gave me a handicapped room near dogs. That was punishment not taking care of me. There was something nasty on the do not disturb sign that I immediately had to go wash my hands!!! Why even move me if they were just going to send me to another room full of feathers that I had to wait on... that made no sense, except to punish me for having allergies and needing help because they did not do their job in the first place. I slept pretty well even though the hotel is very loud. Breakfast was a a disastrous joke. The eggs were scorched and I'm not sure what the white stuff was unless it was egg whites or grits but I don't know, I was not even going to attempt to try it... I was hungry enough to attempt the eggs but I spat them back out immediately. The fruit was not ripe and too hard to chew. The meat was gross and did not taste like meat. It was a complete disaster. The only thing edible was the yogurt that was pre-packaged. I cannot see myself ever staying there again, especially since it took over a month of contacting them when they were supposed to reach out to me within the next two business days and never did. They don't see people they only see numbers. They do not care at all... I have better ways to spend my time then this torturous place. read more

I would NEVER stay at this hotel. My adult daughter booked two nights here Feb 14 thru Feb 16th. They notified her that her credit card was expired. She went on the Marriott Bonvoy app and updated her credit card two weeks prior to her reservation date. Due to traffic and other delays, she did not arrive at Surfside till approximately 8:00 pm They told her that her room was canceled because payment did not go through. She was then stranded in Surfside and scrambling to find another place to stay. This has also happened to us where we updated our credit card on the Bonvoy site but the hotel did not received the information. Residence Inn Miami Beach Surfside and Marriott Bonvoy should be ashamed of the way they treat their customers with this credit card system. Rooftop pool deck offers magnificent sunset views, fearuring private cabanas, hammocks, poolside food/drink service. The gym offers state of the art machines and also free weights. Theres Valet and Self serving parking on site. Theres a 24 hr "market" available. 10,000 sq feet of flexible outdoor and indoor evebt and meeting space. Hotel is new, clean and immaculate and customer service and hospitality is 100%. I had a mix feeling about the experience. Had to changed room twice. First one was not clean and strong cigarette smell, second one bathroom door not closing (making the en-suite all open for shower ans other business) The third room was ok Our stay however went very well. This is a great hotel near my favorite synagogue, beach, shopping mall at Bal Harbour, restaurants, and many places of entertainment. Beyond its great location, the hotel itself is clean, kudos to the housekeeping staff! the facility is well maintained and nicely decorated. The pool area is pleasant, clean, and enjoyable. The front desk staff is consistently professional, hospitable, and helpful. The parking and bell captain staff are welcoming, eager to help, and efficient. Breakfast is nicely done; a good variety of fresh fruits, eggs, and breads. They even give you a welcoming drink, how cool is that! Price wise it is reasonable. One area of improvement; the resort fees are high compared with the absolutely terrible, unprofessional, and lackadaisical "service" given at the beach. I stayed there April 18-23, 2021 and had a very nice stay. The hotel staff were very polite and answered a of our questions. The bellmen, Oscar, Caesar and Marko, were excellent. I don't recall everyone at the desk, except Lisa, but there were all professional. Our room was clean and the linens were nice. The housekeeping staff responded immediately when we requested clean towels. The beach is across the street and the hotel provided towels. While the room wasn't cleaned daily, due to COVID, that did not create an issue. I saw people cleaning and wing down surfaces continuously. The pool attended did the same thing of the pool deck chairs. Overall, it was a great experience. read more

The hotel is nice and we had no problem with it while we were there. It's within walking distance to a Publix and many restaurants. However, after I got home and checked my credit card, I found they charged me $33. I called to find out what it was for. It was a "resort charge" for beach chairs. I checked in on Friday and checked out on Saturday. We were going on a cruise, no beach chairs were used by us. When I complained to the desk clerk about it, her response was "if you aren't going to use the beach chairs, perhaps you shouldn't stay here in the future." OK Marriott and Residence Inn, challenge accepted. I have been a Marriott frequent stayer for over 30 years, but we'll go ahead and stop staying at Marriott and Residence Inns, as you suggest. read more

Please be aware that there is a $50.00 fee per room for early check in. Prior to arriving in Miami, I called the hotel and asked about the early check in preference I selected when I booked. I was told that it depended on availability which was completely understandable but not once did he mention a fee ! Despite not stating this on the website either, Marriott's customer service claims this is something that is told once you get to the hotel. I find this to be an inconvenience and just wrong ! Do not depend on housekeeping for anything. I asked for a "do not disturb" door sign because my room did not have one. She told me she'd be back with one because she didn't have any extras on her cart. All in all, she never came back. Also the amount that was reflected after booking and the receipts we got after checkout were different even when adding in the additional parking and early check in fees. This hotel was horribly disappointing. When we walked into the lobby there were 2 sofas facing us that were disgustingly filthy. They should be thrown out immediately! The entire hotel is in desperate need of scrubbing, updating and new furniture, appliances and kitchen ware. When we got to our room there wasn't any dish soap, dishwasher soap, wash clothes, dish towels, measuring cups the list goes on. Ran the dishwasher after tracking down soap and it flooded our room. Maintenance guy said don't use it... Bathroom didn't have shampoo, conditioner or lotion & not enough towels. The room was not clean - the corners were gross, hair left in shower, finger prints left on door & appliances were dirty. Definitely not a 3.5 - 4.5 star hotel!!! We had a wonderful stay here. We had 3 Free nights with our Marriott Card and used points for the last 2 nights. We were here a total of 5 nights and really enjoyed our stay. Surfside is a bit less hectic than Miami beach itself and is just north of south beach. We chose this location becuase it had direct access to the beach. We crossed the main drag and voila, your own beach area with men to help you with chairs, towels and an umbrella, all included in the $25 per day per room resort charge. Bikes and other things are also included as well as a full breakfast buffet each morning (however we never made it down to that.) The hotel is clean, the staff is friendly, it is right across from the ocean and our room had an awesome water view. I would however reccomend that they figure something out as there is no crosswalk to cross that busy ass street to get to the beach and its almost as if you have to close your eyes, run and hope for the best... Something should be done about this before someone gets killed. I get that its a busy road and there are so many crosswalks that would be needed but maybe even flashing lights that are turned on when you hit the button? Checkout time is 11am and they said that the room will not be ready till 4:00pm, that's ridiculous. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels not once was I given a lame excuse. My sister booked through a third party for the same room and number of nights and she only paid $516! We came to Miami to celebrate a wedding during the holidays. We arrived at the hotel at 9pm and our room was not ready. They didn't offer an alternative besides waiting for our room to be cleaned but we didn't complain since it was a holiday and guessed they might have been short staffed. One of our friends had arrived earlier so we went to go wait in their room. We went to dinner and came back and our room was still not ready. This time they offered to switch our room and I asked if the floor plan was similar and the clerk started raising her voice and giving me attitude. After a long day of traveling I simply chose not to engage. We were given a handicap room which is fine as long as I'm not taking it away from someone who needs it. I'm making this a point because the restroom has a huge custom made sliding door that is very heavy and difficult to operate and also gets stuck behind the wall. This is definitely not ADA compliant. The room was fairly clean but it smelled of mildew. I think it's because the water comes out of the shower since the curtain isn't long enough nor does it have threshold to stop the water from coming out. There is a drain in the middle of the floor but the floor isn't sloped to allow it to drain. The water just sits there. I'm guessing that's why the rooms smells of mildew. We left the room clean and literally just used it to sleep and shower and we were charged $164 two days after we checked out. It's so ridiculous!! We never received an invoice or anything, just a credit card charge on our statement. I do not recommend this hotel. The quality of service does not match the price point. read more

A lot to like about this property. Convenient location. Clean hotel. I love having floors in the rooms. Spacious. Adequate breakfast options. I understand charging to use the amenities for the beach, but they should be optional or added into the regular fee so I don't feel that I am paying for something I won't use.
