This is where we stay when we're in Midland - - - - - - - - August, 2026 Visit We went on a road trip, from Missouri to Michigan, for a family event, and after previous visits, this is where we stay when we're in Midland. The building has been here for 7+ years and still looks brand new. During our stay we had two rooms, which seemed to be a bit larger than most other Residence Inn rooms we've stayed in before. Each had the refrigerator and microwave, both of which we used, and a stove did didn't need on this particular trip. The beds are nicely comfortably. The rooms fully clean. The morning breakfasts were especially good, and the service great! (apologies for not remembering the name of the lady who took such GREAT care of us each morning - my fault (08/28-08.30)). After the reunion at Plymouth Park, we regrouped in the lobby here at the Residence Inn; we planned to be outside by the fire pit, but the light rain changed that, and it's ok - the lobby was just right... nicely big, open space for food, socializing and more. 1 Star Residence Inn by Marriott - Midland, MI As a Yelp Elite member, I've stayed at countless hotels -- and I can confidently say this was one of the most disappointing and unsafe stays I've ever had at a Marriott property. From the moment we checked into our suite, there were odd, foul odors in the hallway, bathroom, and the room itself. Maintenance did come and change the HVAC filter, but it made no difference. Housekeeping even admitted the bathroom and toilet smelled "off." We ended up running our own air purifier and keeping the toilet lid and bathroom door closed the entire stay. Things only went downhill: - Black mold was visible in multiple places -- in the bathtub corner, on the shower handle, and inside the toilet tank. I physically showed this to management, but they tried to claim it "wasn't mold." It absolutely was. - The kitchen pots and pans had mold inside them. Only after I complained did they bring replacements. - During our stay, a flood leaked from the second floor into the first floor hallway. The carpet was soaked (I stepped in it myself), but no dehumidifiers or drying equipment were ever used. Ceiling tiles stained from the water were left in place. - The hallway light fixtures by our suite were full of dead bugs, never cleaned. Then the safety hazard: my significant other hit his ankle on a nearly 2-inch metal post sticking out of the bedframe (meant to hold the mattress but not fitted right). His ankle swelled to the size of a golf ball. When we showed a photo to the manager on duty, she refused to even look, avoided eye contact, and flatly said, "that's unfortunate." No maintenance ever came to address it, no offer to move us. We had to extend our stay by four days so he could elevate his foot -- at our own expense. The last straw? On checkout day, because of his injury, I had to pack and move everything myself. I was granted a late checkout, then asked for just 20 extra minutes to finish loading the car. We left, I told the front desk we were gone, and yet they still charged me for an entire extra night -- for being 20 minutes late leaving a room with black mold that they denied existed. No discount, no apology, nothing. Just the same robotic indifference we experienced the entire stay, as if ignoring the problems would make them go away. Bottom Line: This hotel had black mold, unsafe furniture, poor sanitation, a flood that was neglected, and dismissive management. Instead of addressing obvious problems, they denied them -- and then had the nerve to charge us extra on the way out. Do yourself a favor: if you have kids or pets (we stayed here because we travel with our dog), just book an Airbnb read more

We have stayed at numerous Marriott properties over the years. This one is immaculately maintained. Their COVID protocols made us feel comfortable and safe. The staff is welcoming and pleasant. Breakfast was good. Our room was so comfortable and we slept really well. Everything looks brand new. Highly recommend! read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. I had never been to Midland, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was traveling overnight for work so I booked this spot. The hotel itself is very new. My room was not quite ready at 4 o'clock when I arrived so the front desk man asked me to come back in a few minutes. I was slightly annoyed but I had to make a phone call anyway. When I came back in I was upgraded to a different room and also was given something free out of the pantry. My room was wonderful and clean and the bed was very cozy. I had a hard time getting out of it in the morning. The workout area is very nice and there is a little seating area with a fire place for people to sit outside. I am usually not a fan of Residence Inn's but will absolutely stay again if I am in the area. read more

Yes this place is gorgeous and the actual hotel deserves 4 stars but my experience was so disappointing that I feel the need to mark them down. Don't bother being a rewards member. We signed up for early check in and got the message to come at 1:00 (it did not guarantee that, but the message made it sound like it would be fine so we showed up in town early on purpose). When we got there, with a group of 4 others, their rooms were ready at 1 but we waited until 4 for ours. I complained but was shot down and not treated very nicely. It was a good thing that we had friends with rooms available or we would have just had to wander around town. It was just a horrible experience when they tout this rewards program as something special and then you are treated like that. read more

Rooms need updating. Decor is dated. Only USB ports in room are the two on the alarm clock. No walk in shower, rather an old fashioned tub/shower combo. Mattresses are not comfortable. No housekeeping unless you request it. 2 stars for spacious rooms and full kitchen. However, for the price I paid, I expected much more. Unfortunately, not a lot of better options in the Midland area. read more

My family and I just move red to midland. We spent 42 days at the Marriott. The staff went out of their way to make us welcome. We had our dog with us. All the staff went out their way to show him much love when we left he was a little sad to leave. I can not say enough positive things about the staff, free breakfast and dinner ( three nights a week ). The laundry on site is so nice. Close to Walmart, luckys restaurant and so many other stores. Not really sure what to say. This could be the very best hotel I have been to (taking into account what the hotel is geared for). I'm currently sitting in the room as I type this very much enjoying my stay. Again. Check in was easy and very friendly. They informed us that they had a waffle bar tonight--what a nice touch. The room again was fantastic. Fireplace, nice TVs, auto on/off lights, motion sensing lights--the works. Fantastic. I also used the gym this time which was very spacious and had an excellent selection of cardio equipment. They also had a bench for weights. In addition to the waffle bar, they had popcorn, watermelon, and a strawberry lemonade out. We were wondering if the lemonade was real and fresh. An employee overheard us and confirmed it was. She asked how we liked it (good but sweet) and was just really pleasant. From the "welcome home" note on the desk from the housekeeping staff to the fantastic front desk staff to the great rooms, I really have nothing this place can do better. Phenomenal. Was in town for a ministry conference for Mark Barclay Ministry so we stayed at Marriott, seeing as I'm a member. I was very impressed with the staff and the hotel. Convenient to hwy, LWC and restaurants. I will be staying here again for future meetings. read more

I spent two nights at this location while on the road for work. I have spent many nights at Residence Inns. So many that I can recognize ones which have been updated, from the ones that need to be updated. This one has been updated and was modern, with a full bar, new decor in the room, and a large outdoor fire pit. My suite (room 200) was large, clean, and modern. In a small town, Residence Inn or a Courtyard is your best bet for a decent room. That said, they lack room service, so if you're tired after working, you'll still need to go find dinner. If in Midland, I'll definitely stay here again. read more

Had never stayed in a Residence Inn until recently. Hubby booked because we were in town for a family thing & he liked the idea of having our own kitchen. Pros: door locks automatically, good sized room, free breakfast--not a huge selection but more than just coffee & pastries, loved the kitchen! Staff was great, room was spotless, bed was comfy. The couch in the living area pulled out into a bed, but kiddo was super tired & just wanted to sleep on the couch itself--said it was comfy. Not far off of Wackerly Rd which seemed to be the main thoroughfare. Cons: bathroom is off of the bedroom rather than common area--not a big deal for a couple but we had kiddo with us & she felt weird to have to walk thru our room to use restroom in middle of night. Also, there is no trailer or pull-thru parking, it is all curbside. We had a small atv with us to take on a trail after the family stuff and managed to back the trailer into its own parking spot, but it was a pain. (The staff said that was fine or that we could use the service drive in the back. We figured that 1. we had already got it situated & 2. didn't want it to get blocked in) read more

This is a great place to stay. Friendly staff, some activities, new, clean rooms. Pool is actually warm unlike some neighboring hotels. Full kitchen helps especially for longer stays! The only negative is the breakfasts are not as good as the neighboring Spring Hill Suites. the manager Stephanie is amazing, she makes everyone feel like family. read more

This place is amazing. By far the best hotel I have stayed at and I was disappointed that I had to leave! Rooms were impeccable, breakfast was delicious and the facility is amazing. Breakfast is a big deal for me with a family and the hotel excelled there. Scrambled eggs, oatmeal, sausage, biscuits and gravy, fruit, yogurt, dry cereal...pretty much anything you could want. Staff was all delightful and beyond what I hoped for. While we were swimming, the manager came and checked on us to make sure we were happy and everything was good. I will drive half an hour or more out of my way to stay here again. Clean, brand new modern rooms with an unbelievably comfortable bed were perfect. Beautiful hotel inside and out. I had the best experience staying at the Residence Inn at 850 Joe Mann Blvd in Midland, Mi. The staff are courteous, warm and accommodating. I highly recommend them and will return on my next trip to Midland. read more
