Kind, compassionate, wonderful stay. I can't say enough accolades about my stay at SpringHill Suites in Midland, MI. I stayed there for 6 nights while my Mom was in the MyMichigan hospital for emergency surgery. Being only a few minutes from the hospital, it made it very easy to come back and take a shower and rest. The room was clean and a large layout with comfortable 2 Queen beds and a pullout sofa, and a nice desk area. My Dad, sister, and I switched on and off in the room so that someone always stayed in the hospital room with my Mom. The free breakfast buffet was a welcome treat in the mornings with lots of hot options like scrambled eggs, egg sandwiches, oatmeal, and waffles. We used the guest laundry machines once, which runs on quarters and worked great. They even let us checkout a little later since my Mom was being discharged that day. Special shoutout to Stephanie at the front desk who always asked how my Mom was doing. I recommend this hotel and will be staying there again if in the Midland area. Thank you so much! read more

Stayed here for work recently and it's everything you could ask for in a hotel. Spacious rooms, comfortable beds, very friendly staff, solid breakfast, and it feels like it was built yesterday. Reportedly a solid hotel gym (didn't make it). It's also in a fantastic location, near the best restaurant in the city (Applebee's). I already know where I'll be staying the next time the tour brings me through Midland! read more

Stayed here for 2 nights. We got the hot tub suite which was big enough for us both to relax in. They didn't make bed for 2nd night and I had to call front desk for more towels. Everything was very clean, and all of the staff was friendly. The decor is newer and stylish. The carpet was not at all old or gross. The bathroom in our room was in great shape. We had an excellent experience. Breakfast was good. The eggs were much better than other hotel eggs I have had. You can also get free water in the lobby on request. The rooms have a little sinks and refrigerators which is convenient. The trundle under the couch was a nice amenity so a double Queen can sleep 5. The pool and whirlpool were great and very clean. I was especially impressed that the hotel had a lift for special needs mobility issues for pool access. We didn't use it, but that is a great feature for a family activity. There were a lot of chemicals in the water that strongly affected our eyes for the rest of the day. I'm not complaining, because I also liked that I knew the water was sanitary, but I do recommend not opening your eyes and maybe not going underwater if you want to totally avoid some discomfort, and especially if you have an important event after. My eyes felt irritated, blurry, and watered so badly a few hours after my makeup ran all over. The next day they still feel stressed. The hotel seems very well-run. I was especially impressed with how the kindness and nice attitude of the staff. I would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a wedding. This hotel was a nice place to stay in Saginaw. It is very conveniently located near a Target (forget anything or have a random allergic reaction it's super close!) and near a handful of restaurants in town. I would say it is a close 10 minute drive to anything you would need. 10 minutes from the highway and 20 minutes from Frankenmuth. Our room was a single bed suite. It was surprisingly spacious! We had a lot of room and didn't feel like we needed to battle one another for space. Bed was comfortable. And very clean! Bed bug inspection performed (done by me, bf thinks I'm nuts) and passed! The window opened to a perfect breeze at night. Bathroom was very clean and provided shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Extra toilet paper and a hairdryer in the wardrobe and an AC unit by the window. I wasn't a huge fan of the fragrance used in the AC unit; it didn't bother my bf but im super sensitive to smells so it was strong for me. I did think it was odd that the toilet was right across from the bed...so heads up on that! Otherwise, great place to stay read more

The entire crew was excellent. I came up for a youth conference with my son and our youth church and everyone was great at this location. This was my first time staying at Springhill Suites and I enjoyed this location. My room was clean and the entire lobby area was very clean. Jade, Deb, Stephanie, Leah and Kristin just to name a few were great. The lady who was preparing breakfast was super sweet and made sure there was enough for everyone. Visited this hotel this weekend for a soccer tournament for my son. We were very pleased with the courtesy and attention to customer service provided by the front desk, specifically Annie, who was extremely helpful and accommodating when we had any issues or requests. This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel and I really love the layout of the rooms. They are large with a separate sitting area and the tv is on a dresser that can be turned to face either the beds or the couch in the sitting area. The beds and pillows are very comfortable and they are clean. My one complaint would probably be that they should have a special pool and hot tub time dedicated to just adults, as the kids were making a mess of the pool with splashing, pizza and pop cans and all of the towels were gone or soaking wet!! The employees at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. read more

Wow. I AM IMPRESSED! My husband and I came in really late (430 am) because his flight was delayed and we were nervous about finding somewhere to stay. We have had some not great hotel experiences and hadn't heard much about Springhill, but called them anyways and luckily they had a room open! When we got there, the rep was very nice. He couldn't give us a military discount because we weren't traveling on military business, but he worked out another discount for us instead, which was awesome! We got to our room, and I wish we had more time to lounge because it was so comfortable! For the price - well, it was amazing. It was only 99/night, and we had a more comfortable bed than at home! and I was really happy to find each bed had like, 5 pillows. The 1st thing my husband does is throw all the pillows on one bed and says, "I know how you need to be surrounded by every pillow you can find." haha. And i was. it was amazing. The girls that clean the room are great. We left for the day and I had left my laptop on the bed. Usually I take it. When we got back at night, our laptop was sitting neatly on top of our made bed, with a note on the dresser that said, "I hope you are enjoying your day!" I didn't try their breakfast, but for service, cleanliness, price. 5 stars all the way. I won't even be looking elsewhere, next time we are in Midland, we will definitely be coming right back to Springhill. Edit - My husband had their breakfast - they had scrambled eggs, sausage patties, cereals, milk, orange/apple juice, wafflemaker. He said it was all really good, but didn't try the waffles. read more

We stayed here when we came for the weekend to attend a friend's wedding. The place is fairly new (built in 2008, I believe). There's plenty of parking. The rooms are spacious, complete with a wet bar, mini fridge, and microwave. The beds were comfy, showers nice (good water pressure). There's also a 24 hour fitness room, indoor pool and hot tub, which we didn't have the time to use. The complimentary breakfast (cereals, pastries, scrambled eggs, sausage patties, toast, waffles, etc.) were more than adequate. It would have been nice to have some cooking spray for the wafflemaker so that the waffles wouldn't stick. The hotel is also conveniently located near the mall, movie theatre and huge super centers like Walmart and Meijer, so you can pick up anything you may have forgotten to pack! read more

This was a very nice hotel. Friendly staff, a nice clean entrance, and nice clean rooms. The shower was wonderful (hot, good draining, and good water pressure), though I don't know how the heck you are supposed to turn on the shower w/o getting wet (the way the glass door opens into the shower makes this impossible). The bed was clean, but could have used a little more blanket action. The little kitchenette area is cute, but I didn't need to use it. The price is about what you would expect. I didn't check out the breakfast, so can't comment there... but I would definitely use this place again were I to return to the area. read more

I was happy with the lobby when first entering the hotel. Upon waking to our room we commented on how nice and cool the hallways were. Then when entering our room it was apparent that the air conditioning in the room had been off for quite some time. We attempted to turn the air on from the wall unit with no luck. We then called the front desk who offered to come up and help. Upon checking out the unit it was determined that the air conditioning was broken. So we went back down to the front just to see what our options were from there. That is when I have never experienced such horrible customer service in my life. The woman at the desk told us that unfortunately they were sold out for the evening, and it was also unfortunate that we chose to book through a third-party (USAA) that a rebate is unlikely. After informing them that there was no way we could sleep without air conditioning when it's been 90° outside lately we were met with unfortunately that's all we can do. From there we asked to speak to the manager, who we spoke with on the phone. Jason White (manager) was utterly condescending and rude to my husband and I. We ended up leaving the hotel, going to the one next-door (Holiday Inn) and booking a much better room with much better customer service. Save yourself some time and just book at the Holiday Inn if you're coming to Midland Michigan. read more

We are still recovering from the unpleasant experience caused by local staff at this Marriott property. We arrived after 11 pm on September 8, the first long day of a three-week vacation. After a regular check-in, too-long a call to find the ESPN channel number, and quickly changing into pajamas, we settled in to watch the US Open match. At a commercial break, I gathered toiletries to get set up in the bathroom, and was unprepared for the shock. We'd been given an ADA-accessible room, and that would be fine. Usually it means knee room under the counter, wheel-in shower. This bathroom was straight out of a correctional institution: bare, stark white with dull lighting; small, odd toilet in the corner; little bare sink hanging off the wall; drain in the middle of the floor. There was not a surface anywhere, even for a toothbrush, much less makeup, hair dryer, etc. Calls to the night desk clerk were fruitless. We are not disabled and did not request this type of room, and I thought we were being gracious in only asking for some sort of table and mirror. After midnight, the best offer was an ironing board (!), and finally the offer to move us. Considering we were exhausted, in pajamas, and unsuccessfully trying to enjoy tennis, we declined. The clerk promised a discount and bonus points from the manager in the morning. The night was a sleepless one, as the room was two away from an outside entrance, walls seem to be very thin, and possibly the door or doorway were different because sound was not muffled. Ms. Cooley, the general manager, refused any concession, however, and would not tell us why we were given such an awful room. She would only tell us that they are not required to provide any particular type of room assignment. Our reservation had been made through Marriott on July 16, but no matter. Our reservation was made for a standard king room away from an elevator, ice machine, and entrance - this was also ignored. We learned from Marriott Customer Care that our reservation had been changed at the local level, no reason given. Marriott policy is that an ADA accessible room is not to be assigned, unless requested, if the hotel is not fully booked, and the Midland location was not. Ms. Cooley and her staff clearly violated policy, and the tough lesson for us is that the Marriott Corporation has no control over such egregious behavior. A request was sent to her to follow through on compensation to us, and she would only give bonus points. A second request from headquarters for monetary compensation went ignored. Unless we continue to stay at Marriott properties, we paid full price for a miserable experience. Now that we have learned the hard way that Marriott Corporation is limited in assuring customer satisfaction, and that ultimately owners or managers of most properties have final say. We will have to re-think our first choice in where we like to stay. It must be stressed that no one, fit or disabled, should be expected to spend the night in a room like the one we had - no one. Excellent MARRIOTT property. The hotel has been remodeled in the last 6 months, so it's clean and very nice. The Lady Manager that I always see is fantastic. She remembers me and asks for feedback. I travel for business a lot and I have never once had a hotel Manager engage me. The price has gone up but the wifi is lightning fast like 50 Mbs which is unheard of at hotels. I have noticed MARRIOTT is adding Netflix in the rooms which is a bandwidth killer. I don't need to watch Netflix. I need to work. She assured me that when they remodeled and added Netflix, they made the adjustment to ensure wifi speeds didn't suffer. She was right. Highly recommend read more

I think the hotel was built within the last year, so it's clean and new. Rooms are comfortable and suite-like, although I never used the sitting area and just lounged about in bed. The bathroom is fab, though mine came with a glass-doored shower without a tub and it's a little on the small side. No complaints for business travel here! read more

The hotel staff is very nice. The rooms and hallways are clean. The reason for my low rating is because if the breakfast. If you are on a diet of all carbs, then you will love it here. While trying to avoid carbs, the Marriot only offers scrambled eggs and coffee. Imagine spending a lot of money on a room, and heading to the lobby for breakfast, to find that you can only eat scrambled eggs...There was a sausage dish, but it was mostly made up of potatoes. Wow, Impressive! They are remodeling and so far, so very, very good. Our room was stunning, so tastefully chosen decor. A truly handsome suite! Did I mention that I liked it? Very serene, deep marine royal blue papered wall behind the bed. It draws you in. Wonderful full length mirrored wall in vanity area. Everything so well subtly coordinated. Nice and quiet, too. If there was a down side, it's that the room is quite a way from the elevator, and the TP folder is a stretch, located on the opposite wall from the toilet. Still, this place is a 5. Can't wait til the lobby is finished. read more

WOW, one of the best hotel experience's I've ever had. They have the nicest, quietest rooms of anywhere I've stayed. The only problem I had is that the staff is too nice and accommodating in every way. Nice problem to have! The general manager, Ms. Cooley, was a pleasure to talk to and really seemed concerned about making her guest as comfortable as possible. Comfortable with an excellent breakfast, I'll be staying here every time I travel to the area. read more

Booked a room there this last weekend basically as a place to shower after the Great Lakes Bay marathon and it was great! Very nice clean, modern room. I was afraid my 3 year old was going to manage to break the glass shower door but other than that the bathroom was great and we didn't miss having a tub. The kitchenette area was nice and we liked having the cabinets to stash snacks up out of reach, I also thought having a kitchen towel there was a nice touch! The fitness room looked neat and a was decent size for the size of the hotel though we didn't need it after running the race. The pool area was great as well. I looked at it when we first checked in Sat afternoon and there were a few people in there but we had it all to ourselves Sun afternoon. The area was clean and the hot tub definitely had a high concentration of chemicals (not complaining, I'd rather have it clean than anything else) but the pool water did not have that overpowering smell/sting that you get in some public pools which was great for the 3 year old. Only complaint was that we kept having issues with the magnetic keys. When we first checked in the key got me into the pool (checked that out real quick while I was right there in the lobby) but when we drove around, loaded up with bags and tried to get in the side door closest to our room neither key would work. Had to load everything back in the car and go back up to the front to have the keys reprogrammed. Minor annoyance but whatever. Unfortunately the second day one of the keys lost its programming again! Luckily we had both keys so we could get into the room with the second key but it meant another trip down to the front desk. On a side note the staff were all nice and friendly! They offer breakfast but we didn't even check it out, we got all our stuff the night before at the Meijer that is right there, we loved having a close 24 hour store! All in all we enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends and family! read more

When we were loading our bags up in the car there were about 6 workers smoking near the building and you could smell it in the inside of the door! The pool was ok because the kids were chaotic they were throwing footballs at people's heads, splashing water, at others and me, etc. I told the front desk and a lady went to talk to them. Once she left they went right back to doing the same things! We will return but wish the staff wouldn't smoke near the door and wish that the kids were not chaotic and being disrespectful to others trying to enjoy the pool! read more
