Stayed a night for a soccer tournament, stayed years earlier and it was fine. Same as this time. Staff was beyond fantastic, rooms are clean and large. The bar is nice too. Food is reasonable. Free bottles of water for the soccer players, which was nice. Downside: It's been cold in the area and the heat in the room never went over 73 degrees even though it was set to 76 after hours at 74. The room was just always chilly. You'd think you could get a little relief from the shower, but no, it never got hotter than luke warm. Also the parking spaces are too small. It's fine for smaller sedans but not for trucks. Both sides of my car have scratches on it from people getting in and out of their trucks. Anyways, I've been to other hotels in the immediate area and I like them better; probably won't be back. read more

First time staying at this Holiday Inn in Midland Michigan. The rooms are clean as shown from the picture. The staff is pleasant and check in was a breeze. My room had a microwave and a mini refrigerator perfect for those leftovers. The coffee maker is a great way to wake up in the morning. The bathroom and shower is very clean. Good water pressure and an adjustable shower head. Big E's is attached to the hotel, only had one meal but it was good and quick. The WiFi isn't not the fastest but honestly not many hotels have fast WiFi. I'm still able to get work done so it seems fast enough for email and light duty work. Streaming videos seems to be a different story. There is plenty of shopping and restaurants close by. All in all, I am completely satisfied with my stay and would stay here again without hesitation. read more

A beautiful well appointed hotel. Not your typical Holiday Inn. This hotel is fairly new. The rooms look clean, smell clean and are definitely clean! Beds and lines are very comfortable. The rooms seem pretty insulated from outside noise. Check in process was easy and efficient. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The hotel has a very nice indoor and outdoor pool with hot tub. The hotel has a great sports bar with lots of big screen tv's, lively environment, good food and drinks. If you need to stay in the Midland area, this is a great choice! read more

Quite nice; new and in very good shape. Adult swim available in the pool until midnight; refrigerator/microwave in the rooms. Internet is hardwired and a little wonky; shower is beautifully designed but poorly labeled - I presume they have hot water at 5:30 am but I had some trouble getting it. Hot breakfast buffet (fruit, waffles, eggs/meat; muffins; oatmeal appeared to be steelcut; non-concentrate OJ); coffee machine in the lobby offering espresso, etc. Right next to the Midland Mall. The sports bar is quite loud, but the drinkers I was with seemed impressed with the selection. Not a lot for the vegetarian, but it's a Holiday Inn in Michigan. read more

This doesn't seem like a Holiday Inn; the lobby was very well decorated for Christmas and the staff was so polite and friendly. Once in the room I realized there were two twin beds when I booked a king, but Andrew (I think) at reception immediately booked me into an appropriate room and gave me two vouchers for free drinks at the attached sports bar. This was a very nice gesture. The room was cleaned well when I wanted and the bathroom was nice. Big E's is built onto/into the hotel so if you want room service, it comes from there. We did order it once and unfortunately they got our order wrong (scrambled instead of fried, white instead of wheat) but it was still decent and the price was reasonable. What may not be obvious in the description is that the indoor pool can be viewed from the restaurant; this may be fine with you, but I ended up not using the facilities because I am shy. The fitness center, however, was pretty good and I used it twice. It is also within walking distance of a big shopping center so you can get all your necessities. read more

Another great IHG property. Have stayed here multiple times for work. Very quiet hotel all the times I have stayed. Cordial front desk staff, they have a really nice pool if you want to swim, wifi worked flawlessly for my evening live streamed college class, and the restaurant attached (Big Es sports bar) is pretty good as well. Plenty of other dining options in the area as well. I try to find nearby places to run for some physical activity after a day of sitting behind a computer when I'm on the road, if you are into that there is a great place called Midland City Forest about a mile away that has great shaded running, biking, or walking trails that I hit every time I'm here. read more

We came to the metropolis of Midland (joking) for a soccer tournament on Mother's Day weekend. There was very little I was looking forward to about this cold weekend in the middle of nowhere. Were it not for this awesome hotel, attached sports bar/restaurant, and really fun pool and hot tub, it would've been an uneventful holiday weekend. The rooms were very comfortable, and we were even given gift bags for Mother's Day weekend. Unexpected but very much appreciated. Beds are comfortable, you have two different types of pillows to choose from, and excellent bath care products. Clean hotel rooms, very comfortable. The lobby had a nice coffee machine and bottled waters. Great location adjacent to large retail stores. That was convenient when we forgot our swimsuits and could go next-door to buy some. Maybe one of our favorite experiences here is the excellent sports bar and poolside service. Parents could hang out poolside with other adults and have a drink while the kids played. Our children are already requesting for their next tournament to be held in Midland because of this hotel. The staff even had the tournament schedule posted in the lobby. Very considerate! Our only frustration is inadequate numbers of elevators. But that is insignificant compared to everything else we enjoyed here. read more

This is one of the newest Holiday Inns I have stayed at and probably the best. The mattresses are in great shape and overall, the room has everything you would need to include a refrigerator, microwave, and sink area. The wi/fi was fast and easy to connect to. Room service was on time in the morning. The pool area is nice and the gym isn't too bad either. Overall, not a bad place to stay. The location is right next to the mall and cinema so the location is great. Big E's Sports bar is attached to this hotel and it is very popular. Every evening, the place was packed. I did not eat their but it seems to be a well liked place. I have stayed at a few of the other hotels in this area and if there are rooms available, I will stay at this Holiday Inn. Hotels in this area seem to sell out often due to conferences and misc events so ensure you book in advance or at least check to see if that time frame might sell out. I made the mistake of waiting and had to stay the first night and a competing and terrible hotel. This one is a winner for Midland. read more

A significant improvement over the old property on Wackerly.Big E's Sports Bar is really a treat. Excellent selection of food. Full bar and drink specials. Over 70 beers on tap. Chicken wings for 25 cents each on Tuesdays, and Saturdays during football games . We have now been there at least a 1/2 dozen times and have enjoyed each and every visit.Our friends who have been there also enjoyed the place. They have over 60 flat screen TVs for watching sports. In mild weather; there is outdoor seating and garage style doors along the entire south wall. read more

This location does not conform to the Holiday Inns I remember from the past. The staff was friendly and helpful and the place had a nice modern design to it, while also being clean. While the lack of a breakfast being included is discouraging, the room service was okay for what you get (although our orders were mostly wrong), if you don't feel like going out first thing in the morning. While the fitness center was nice to use during our visit, the Game Room was unfortunately a bit messy, with kids coming up immediately from the pool and getting pool water all over the carpet and most of the arcade games. Lastly, Big E's is a nice restaurant to have attached to the hotel, especially if bad weather makes it unappealing to drive anywhere a bit later at night. We were a bit confused that for some reason, windows were put in for sports bar patrons to watch people in the hotel pool. read more

I am in Midland this weekend for a business trip. This is my first stay at the Holiday Inn Midland. I have to say I am impressed for a Holiday Inn. The majority of my comments are positive and only a few items of constructive criticism. The hotel is easy to find and accessible to the freeway. There are numerous shopping choices almost right outside the front door of the hotel. If you have forgotten something you are in the right place! The beds are comfortable and there are both soft and firm choices of pillows. The tv's get an abundance of stations which is unusual. The shower is interesting . . . there is no tub however, the shower head is adjustable in height and strength. The rooms are spacious and we had both a refrigerator and microwave. The fridge temperature was well maintained which has not always been my experience in hotels with mini fridges. The fitness center has a pretty good selection of machines. There are 2 tv's and 1 remote. The equipment is a bit on the old side but everything I used worked well so clearly it is being maintained. The fitness center is open 24 hours which is very convenient. There is a water fountain but no water cooler with cups. I brought a cup into the room so I can have some sips of water. It would have been nice to have cups available. There is a small area for coffee in the lobby. Unfortunately, the coffee is barely drinkable. They may want to invest in a better coffee service! Also, a better selection of creamer would have been nice. I am not a fan of half n half. All in all a good choice for a hotel. If I was I was in this area again I wouldn't mind staying at this hotel. read more

If you arrive and Tamara is at the front desk be prepared to be treated badly. She was rude and conscending. I overheard her talking about other guests, mocking them and complaining about them. I can deal with inept, but not with nasty. We were there for the weekend and attended a catered dinner reception at the hotel. The food was inedible. Load up on the salad and rolls! I couldn't believe this was a Holiday Inn. The Place was decorated beautifully for Christmas, The rooms were immaculate and nicely decorated. The reception area was warm and inviting. The clerk named Tricia was extremely friendly and welcomed us to the hotel like we were old friends. The rates were reasonable. We were given coupons at check in for the Hotel restaurant Big E's which had allot of activities and TVs to watch the games. George is the man! He went out of his way to make sure I had a pleasant stay. He gave me a late night shuttle back to the hotel at the end of his shift when he didn't have to. Stayed here for 2 nights. The first day I arrived there I left a pocket full of quarters and change by the TV, didn't want to be carrying it around. After I came back from work the second day all the change I had left was gone. I guess the housekeeper took it upon themself to take the money as a tip. That was not a tip. That is called theft!! Will never stay at a Holiday inn ever again. I will be calling corporate head quarters to complain about it. I know it was only a handful of quarters and change but it was not for the housekeeper to take it upon them self to take something that was not left for them. I seriously hope that person gets fired. And if it was a tip it would have been left on the day I left the hotel not the second night. Horrible. read more

Very disappointed by the staff of the hotel. They screwed up my reservation and made me suffer all night after driving to Midland, MI for two hours. I would not recommend this place for many reason, the hotel is always busy and it seems that the hotel staff do not care about guest because they are always busy. Second the hotel rarely greet you by your reward status and have to fight with them to get your amenity points. Very disappointed, spend your money across the street and have a better suite. read more

I do believe whoever wrote the previous review must be the manager of Big E's (the sports bar), as I had a horribly different experience there last night. I went there for $.25 wings and a beer, but the service was very poor. It took me over 15 minutes to be waited on at the bar, and the entire place was only at 40% capacity. I should have heeded the opinions of the other people who told me don't bother buying wings; they are cold when they get to you. But I gave the bar the benefit of the doubt and ordered 16 wings, each of which was grossly undercooked and the sauce wasn't even warmed up. When I asked to be refunded they brought the wings back to me reheated which i kindly declined and asked for a refund again. The manager informed me then that I would still have to pay for the wings! As I am a practicing law and business student I had to cite several health and safety standards in addition to proper business etiquette, which prompted the manager to refund my money and ask that I not return. I wont. But if your just looking to get a $5 beer or load up your buddy's tab; this is your place;) read more

I stayed here twice: once for my job interview and another during my househunting trip. The rooms were clean and spacious, and the wifi worked well. The free breakfast was great (made to order omelette, fresh oj, etc) and so was the shuttle service. The staff was warm and friendly, really made me feel comfortable during both of my stays. We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The staff is very attentive. The room was very clean and it had a lovely area that included a sink, good sized fridge, microwave and cabinets. The housekeeping staff does a great job, they even took the time to write daily notes wishing us a good day!! The pool area and the pool itself is a very nice size. Not overcrowded space as in most hotels. The treat was the hot tub which is half indoors and half outdoors year round. It was a cool 39 degrees outdoors and it felt so relaxing and wonderful to be able to sit outside in the hot tub and enjoy ourselves! We had a good breakfast at Big E's Sports Bar. We also had dinner there and the food was delicious!! The pizza is awesome!! Overall this place has become one of our favorites. As we travel quite frequently, I wish more hotels offered everything we found here: good location, awesome staff service, good food, clean, and great amenities.
