I am currently staying at the hotel starting on March 1, 2023, until the end of July. And can honestly say I have had no complaints about the hotel or staff, it has all been wonderful! I have felt completely safe and taken care of by all of the staff, they are kind and always helpful. Security is excellent and I have really only had one issue and that was with other guests (parents that did not want to take care of their children, partied, and allowed the children to run, scream and play in the hallways until late at night) but this was taken care of immediately by one of the desk managers Lupe and security. This is not a party hotel nor do they have the activities, game rooms, or playgrounds that some other hotels offer to children - this is why I chose this hotel! The room that I am staying in has a good kitchen and a beautiful balcony overlooking the mangroves. I see many birds, agouti, iguanas, and butterflies. Having stayed many times at the Nizuc Resort next door (extremely expensive), I was very aware of the mosquitos at night. The hotel is also next to a Cabana Restaurant with a swimming area called Rio Nizuc, which has changed a lot since I first came to it almost 25 years ago. Great fish and Ceviche - cash only from noon to 5pm! One good tip - get to breakfast early! All of the good stuff goes first at the buffet - love the plantains and cornmeal muffins The man who oversees the staff and breakfast area is most definitely the most considerate and hard-working of all the staff (not to say that they are not all hardworking but this man does not stop! ) The laundry facilities are amazingly quick and inexpensive. I have now been here for almost 2 months and the managers at the front desk both named Brenda must never have a bad day - they always have smiles and warm greetings Supervisor Elisa and security Anthony are also blessings to my stay which on some days have been hard and painful due to cancer treatment. The hotel itself was clean and nice, but the concierge was awful. 1. We were quoted $150 US dollars with a "hotel discount" for a full day pass at Xcaret - we got to the park and it was $120. 2. We were told that it included food and drinks - none of the packages include food and drinks. 3. We rented a GoPro for underwater photos with a flat rate of $45 - there's hidden charges for "delivery" of the camera and a $300 deposit. 4. One of our family members got sea sick at Xcaret and obviously we needed to cancel the snorkeling trip since there was a 40 minute boat ride and we needed a note from the doctor, a prescription from the doctor, and additional official documents (including our flight change to prove that she was actually sick) to even consider a cancellation. What a rip off! We spent nearly $1,000 US dollars on activities for this? Not worth it at all - take your money to an all inclusive resort. read more
