Stayed here Sun-Thursday (in August) and used booking.com for the reservation. We arrived to the hotel around 12pm and upon walking in we were offered cold towels and champagne (or any drink you'd like from the bar). Check in process was ok but arriving early the lady told us she'd have a room for us in 1 hour and it ended up taking 3 hours aka normal 3pm check in time. We requested double beds which she said they had available but then entering our room it was a single bed handicap room with a swim up pool (room 3001). Room has a mini fridge stocked with beer, water, soda and coffee. I went back to the desk to ask about the double beds and she said it would be another hour (4pm) and we were exhausted so we just kept what we had. Food is ok. Just ok. There are 3 free restaurants (Oriental, Italian and Seafood) , 1 paid steakhouse and 1 main buffet. There's also a pizza bar by the pool and coffee/ice cream parlor, and a snack bar (burgers, hot dogs, nachos) by day/ and taco bar (7pm and on). You're allowed room service once a day for free and after that it's an additional cost. At the Oriental restaurant they will automatically seat you for regular dining unless you specifically request that you want to do hibachi. There are only two hibachi tables that seat 10 each so expect to wait. 4 bars. 1 at each pool, 1 rooftop and the main bar inside. Latest one is open until 1am. There's also a juice bar by the infinity pool. The drinks were good but you have to request the brand of alcohol you want. I'm a tequila drinker so I always asked for Don Julio which they kind of had tucked away. If you don't specify they'll just give you the cheap stuff. Not necessary but bring your own cup and they'll refill it for you no problem. Ex. I ordered 32 oz insulated Bubba cups from amazon for $10 And it was so much better than going to get their tiny little plastic cups each time. Staff is all super nice and the resort is up kept and very clean. There's Expedia and other excursion booking opportunities onsite as well as a Hertz rental car desk. There's also a small gift shop and jewelry store. If you leave the resort the local bus is 12 pesos or $1 US. There are malls, restaurants a grocery store, Walmart etc. Tip...please tip. A dollar or 2 per meal/drink goes along way and they do work really hard. For the price we paid we overall had a really good time.

First time in Cancun and over the Riviera Maya, we decided to stay in the hotel zone. This resort's location was great, not too far from the airport and close to downtown. Employees were always very attentive and polite. The rooms were okay; we had everything we needed, and the ocean view was just amazing. I spent a lot of time on my balcony. The food was really good. The buffet had pretty much everything: salads, seafood, chicken, meat, and desserts. The taco stand next to the buffet was really good--delicious tacos that I enjoyed eating by the pool. The beach was very pretty. The only thing that wasn't the resort's fault is that we were there during Hurricane Beryl, and the ocean was very wavy for my taste and stayed that way the entire time I was there. That is why I gave four stars, because my parents' room got flooded twice during the hurricane. The resort really needs to resolve this issue since it is very uncomfortable. My parents stayed in the building in front of the main pool; I stayed in the building close to the Italian restaurant and didn't have that problem. We really enjoyed the à la carte restaurants, with the exception of the Italian one. The chefs need to improve their pasta skills. Overall, the experience was very good and relaxing. We are coming back for sure. Cancun is very fun and enjoyable; hopefully, we will have better weather next time.

I really didn't know what to expect on our second trip to Cancun. We previously stayed at a resort in the Riviera Maya area which was more desolate than the typical touristy area in Cancun. This one, Grand Park Royal, is in the "downtown" Cancun area - which like I mentioned is very touristy. The area is resort after resort and there is lots of local, as well as chain shopping and eats within walking distance (if you want to venture off your resort). We stayed in a Royal Tower Jacuzzi Suite which I recommend (request 2nd floor or above, middle building for amazing views). Our suite was spacious with a king bed, couch and chair, large bathroom and shower, large balcony with complete glass sliders, and of course the good sized jacuzzi tub. Our room also came with a butler that you can ask to help you with pretty much anything. Yomeli was ours and he was wonderful. He made all of our dinner reservations, arranged our Covid tests, and even did things like helped me look for SPF 100 around downtown Cancun (which is not a thing, in case you were wondering). For food, there are three included sit down restaurants, one buffet, a cafe/coffee shop, and a snack bar that turns into a taco spot at night. Two of the three sit-down spots are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The sit-downs have actual names but are more commonly referred to as the Mexican, Italian, and Chinese restaurant. The Chinese restaurant also has a hibachi option which is included but has to be specifically requested. I enjoyed the food everywhere and for the most part thought everything was really good! The nightly taco spot is great for a quick dinner and the tacos are delicious - not kidding, the guys at ten (10) tacos each and the girls all had five (5)! The buffet was okay the one time we went in the evening, BUT we went every morning for breakfast because I loved the options and variety. The cafe serves until 12am and almost always has coffee, ice cream, and pastries - there is also cold grab-and-go sandwiches during the day. For drinks, there is a swim up bar at the adult pool, an indoor bar/lounge off the lobby, and a rooftop bar/lounge. Obviously the swim up was great during the day at the pool, but the rooftop area was our vibe in the evening after dinner. Drinks were good - we ordered lots of frozen options at the pool and many mai tai, mojitos, or margs in the evening. The resort sits on a beautiful beach and there is plenty of space from the resort buildings to the water (they also have multiple cabanas on the beach!). The sand is fine, white and the ocean water is the most beautiful blue. The resort is also located right on a city bus stop if you decide to venture. We took the bus to Market 28 and to the ferry to Isla Mujeres (unrelated but highly recommend a day here). I am getting sad typing this because it is over! So that should tell you a lot. We would recommend this resort and possibly even go back - we for sure would visit another Grand Park Royal location. I know it is really hard to find info on these places when you are booking, feel free to DM me and I am happy to answer questions. Happy Traveling!

The adults only suite. Well most of the time. That's fine.

Located in the middle of The Hotel Zone, 30 minuets from the Cancun Aeropuerto. First impressions (arrival): very clean, very friendly staff, easy access to places inside the property. Asked for an upgrade to the adult only side. Received 3 Jr Suites for $1260 more for the entire 8-day/7-night stay. EXCELLENT in all manner: ocean view, Butler, private entry from the private restaurant, all day staff service, & on. Writing all this at the end of Day Three so not done with the trip. But it's all 5-Star so far. More to come.

R&R in a great resort! We had A wonderful experience at this resort. Check in was fast. Our room was big and clean. The bed was comfortable. The buffet had everything we needed for breakfast lunch and dinner. The extra restaurants were good as well. The drinks kept coming. Our pool waitress remembered us and knew what we needed. You can customize your drink with a specific liquor. I never had a problem getting a lounge chair at the beach or the pool. Both pools were big and clean. They had waiter service at the pool and sometimes at the beach. The staff members were super nice. My only complaint is that they need to have water more readily available.

THIS IS NOT A 4-STAR HOTEL. This is 3 stars, at best. If we'd known what to actually expect, we wouldn't have booked this hotel. PROS: Kids club! Hard working and friendly staff. Very clean grounds. Roof top bar. Beach was very wide and clean. Birthday treats/balloons (after I reminded them it was my birthday) Taco bar, Oriental restaurant and breakfasts in the Italian restaurant. NEUTRAL: Food. Resort food in Cancun is very mediocre overall. This hotel's options were tastier than most but not very plentiful. CONS: VIP checkin: Where? When? Unless I missed it, there was nothing special done or offered to us. No drinks offered or hot towel, just your standard check in at the desk. We've had VIP checkin at other hotels in Cancun, this was not comparable at all. Vacation club: Super hard sell. 30mins spiel immediately after check-in in the guise of a hotel tour. Upgraded room to "premier room" ($40 USD per day). Not impressed. Old furniture (room 1304) with rock hard beds, stiff sheets and a remote with no volume control. Howling wind all day/night from sliding doors. Limited mini bar and room service options. Stone paths: hard to walk in sandals. VIP excursion "credit": not applicable on all excursions, and of course on none we were interested in. Shows: Mediocre. Hard working entertainers but cheap production and small, stuffy theater. Size: The resort seemed large in photos but it's actually not very big. Pool: No designated kids pool area so the jacuzzi became the alternative. Chairs are snatched up very early, per usual at any resort.

9/10-17/2016 - Absolutely loved this place for my birthday vacation plus we were her for El Dia de La Independencia de Mexico. They had a car waiting for us at the airport ready to take us to the resort. Upon check in we were greeted by the staff who took our luggage into the check in area. Because we came in as members, they have a member center to check in. Karla was our host and she gave us all the information regarding the hotel, restaurants, amenities, and excursions. We went to our Villa overlooking the ocean while our bags arrived. We had the Junior Suite and it was as spacious as my entire apartment. The mini bar is completely stocked with waters, sodas and Dos Equis Beer. We decided to have dinner at the Cocay restaurant, (buffet only). What a spread. Every night is a different cuisine. Mexican, Italian, Seafood or TexMex. The food was delicious, they have the buffet as well as food prep stations. They have 2 huge pools, one is the "fun" pool with games they do all day. This is more of a family pool. They have a bar adjacent to the pool. The other pool more "relaxed" and it is an infinity pool with a bar inside the pool. There are nice seating areas, chairs and gazebos to lay down. This was my favorite pool. The gym facilities were amazing, all state of the art equipment. We went to the gym at least 3 times during our stay. After the gym, we went to El Mirador restaurant right above for a la carte breakfast. This was my favorite restaurant as they offered healthier options and their food was cooked to order, very fresh. For dinner, this is their Italian restaurant. I had gnocchi here but was not impressed. We also went to La Concha for lunch, their seafood restaurant. They have fresh ceviche and fresh white fish at their small buffet but it is a la carte as well. We also dined here but it is Mexican at night. The last restaurant we went to for dinner was El Oriental. This restaurant is 3 stories and it is very beautiful and romantic. We sat on the second floor. The third floor has a coy pond. They serve a mix of Chinese, Japanese and food from Thailand. For snacks while the restaurants are closed they have 2 options, wood fire pizza and hamburger & hotdogs by the pool area. Both are very good. One of our favorite spots to go to was the Cafe, upstairs by the lobby area. They serve specialty coffees, sandwiches, fruits in to go boxes, mini cupcakes, cookies and donuts. Also, they have gelato. YUMMY! We hit this place at least twice a day. I used their members business area to do some work during the day. They have waters, sodas and Nespresso coffee. Overall, I would love to come back here. The service was TOP NOTCH at all times. The people were incredible, helpful, courteous, friendly. etc...I can't say enough. And I must say this place is so CLEAN. We saw so many cleaning staff just working hard to make everything shine. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! Viva Mexico!

Not sure who this place paid for the 4.7 stars, but this place is terrible at best. The dinner buffet is cold. You need a reservation for the three restaurants. The Italian place is the best one. Oriental was meh and the Mexican was ok. I'm laying by the pool contemplating ordering on Uber eats, which imo says all you need to know about the food here. Most employees have a attitude & they all linger waiting for a tip after they had a attitude. My butler, Jessica has been the only bright spot with her wanting to help as best to her abilities. My bed sheets were stained upon arrival with what I hope was makeup. Be prepared to be hounded every time you walk out of your room about the time share presentation. Hot tub hasn't worked the week I've been here and reading a review from a month and even two months ago it wasn't working then either. Rooms are outdated and smell like mold. Bed is hard as a rock. Sheets were dirty the first night we got here. Again not sure how they have such a "high" rating. Due to the lack of luxury I can cross this brand off any future trip. Please save your money and DO NOT stay here.

Really nice location. We enjoyed our stay here for a week in April. Weather was beautiful. We got a free upgrade to ocean front room in the adult only tower. The food was just ok. I expected more for a 4 star resort. Drinks were basic. Nothing fancy. The people that work here though, phenomenal. Their service made me feel at home.

What a beautiful resort can't wait to come back, an the service was great we couldn't wait to wake up every morning to see the beautiful sunrise from our window

OMG! I booked a room for the week of June 2018. I arrived to the hotel with my boyfriend literally at about 530am. Unfortunately our room wasn't ready which is understandable I mean who checks out at that time. Anyway the staff was kind enough to give us our all inclusive bracelets to be able to start receiving services the hotel provides and told us they would do their best to give us a room once it was ready to go. We got our room at around 9am which more than we can ask for hence our check in was originally at 3pm. During which we went to the beach and saw the sunrise. We also had a buffet style breakfast which opens at 7am. I really liked our stay at this resort. The staff was super friendly, the beach isn't full of people, the pool side wasn't full either and both were clean. The buffet style breakfast and lunch room was a decent size and they offer a variety of foods. The resort is also located in the hotel zone which is easy to navigate from if you take a taxi or the bus (the stop is right infront of the hotel). We were able to see two rooms. Our original booked room was for an ocean side view. We got a room that was at the edge and you were still able to see the beach. This room was like a kind of small. Once you walk in the bathroom was to your left. On the right side was the safe and the mini fridge. Once you pass that was the bed and dresser. There was a TV and a chair and small desk. Then the doors to the view. Our second room was due to an upgrade. We upgraded because of the jacuzzi if I'm being honest. The other room would have been okay. Our second room was much much bigger. It had a better shower and bathroom area. The jacuzzi was a decent size for two people. The bed was about the same size and the living room was bigger. The ocean view is literally infront of your room and they assigned us a butler. We never saw or bugged him since we were in and out. But while we were in our room, I enjoyed the ocean view. All in all I would definitely book at this resort again!

The rooms are infested with bed bugs, fleas, tics... There are leaks throughout the hotel and when they receive too many complaints the entire section is closed off! Some from desk staff can be rude, especially 'Ana'. Restaurant and bar staff is great, entertainment crew by pool and in evening shows are amazing. All food was delicious too!

Beautiful view of the gulf. All rooms if not most have a view like this.

Overall very nice stay but drinks were awful. Everything else was great. Very easy checking in and getting room ready. Room service was top notch.

Sometimes all inclusive hotels can feel gimmicky, like being on a cruise ship or something. This was not that at all. This was a high end experience from start to finish. The hotel service and facilities are impeccable. I was blown away by the care they take to tend to each guest. I was only there for a few days and people took the effort to learn my name and my personal preferences. To start, the room was incredible. I stayed in a suite and it had a juccuzi right inside the room and an ocean view with a hammock. The room also came with a mini bar which was restocked daily (although you could also call and request anything at any time). Every day they had a different schedule of activities for guests with quality entertainment (not tacky acts). They had all all white party with a circus one day which was fun, a foam party, bull riding and more. The food deserves its own review. It exceed my expectations by a lot. They had several food options to choose from, including an Asian restaurant, a Mediterranean restaurant, a mexican restaurant a cafe and a global buffet. The restaurants were all open extended hours until 10 or 10:30 so there were always food options available. The global buffet did different themed dinners every night. Of the restaurants, I liked all but I'd say the Mediterranean was the most high quality. The preparation and taste was on par with any top NYC restaurant. The octopus dish was especially memorable. Second favorite was probably the Mexican restaurant. They have a chef from Oaxaca who makes a great mole. At each restaurant, the managers always made an effort to stop by my table to make sure I had what I needed. The employees genuinely care about serving you and they do it gladly. Sometimes you go to places where the employees are disgruntled or have a bad attitude. Not the case here at all. Everyone seemed generally happy and in a good mood. It felt like most of the people here were celebrating something, whether a bachelorette party or birthday, but it didn't feel overall raucous or anything. They had a silent disco one night and I think that also helped with any potential late night noise issues. I was really impressed with how well curated the schedule of activities was. Additionally, the hotel was very clean. When I first got in, people were mopping. They're constantly changing pool towels that are left out. Everything was spotless. The sheets were crisp and white. My room was changed to my liking. No complaints. One of the better places I've stayed. I would definitely come back in a heart beat. I loved it here!

However, what truly struck us both this time was the incredibly warm treatment we received. A hotel is only as great as its staff, and the team here is what makes it special. We booked a club-level oceanfront room, which included butler service. Our butler, Arturo, absolutely came through for us. He handled our restaurant and cabana reservations ahead of time and was instrumental in securing a late check-out on our final day. The dining at this all-inclusive is superb. For breakfast, Siete offers a decent buffet, and our waiter, Helvert, was incredibly kind and always took the time to chat with us. For dinner, DB was our top choice for elegant continental dining, complete with a live pianist. The manager, Susana, provided excellent service, the food was delicious, and the chef even came out to greet us. We also loved Hidden Gardens, a relaxed Asian-fusion spot with tasty food, impeccable service, and another welcome visit from the chef. During the sweltering day, the pool is the main draw. Lalo was always helpful in securing our requested cabana. They cost an extra $115 each time, but they are completely worth it to escape the intense sun. Our pool waitress, Marysol, befriended us and knew exactly what non-alcoholic drinks to bring us. My wife is a big coffee drinker, so we frequently stopped by the included Starbucks, where David the barista gave excellent service and loved chatting with me about World Cup soccer. Also, a big shoutout goes out to Lady and Daisy at the spa. They gave my wife and I heavenly massages. However, the absolute heart of the entire hotel is Marco, the extraordinary juicer at Siete! His positivity, jokes, and contagious smile drew a long line of people waiting for his blended drinks every morning. Thank you to everyone for making our trip so memorable!

3 stars for overall experience. 5 stars for the staff. 1 star for the spa…read moreThis is a small, all inclusive resort in the hotel zone. It's across the street from a shopping mall. This is not a party resort. When we were there, there was a karaoke night and a DJ in one of their lounges, but it was never crowded and the events ended early or people just left early. The 1st room we stayed in was HORRIBLE! We couldn't sleep. There was a loud rumbling sound coming from the huge air conditioning units right outside balcony. Ear plugs did not help. We talked to 3 other people also complaining about the noise from their rooms also. We were so thankful to Eileen/Aileen at the front desk for moving us. She let us view 3 rooms that were available. We went from a partial ocean view room with a king bed on the 2nd floor to a garden view (actually just the alley with trees) with 2 queen beds on the 1st floor. There was no noise whatsoever! Yaaaay! The person booking excursions could be more friendly. He seemed uninterested and looked bored. Whenever we saw him speaking to other guests, he really looked bored or tired. ONE STAR for the spa. We arrived 15 minutes early for a couples massage. My husband was led to the men's side and I was taken to the women's side. The young lady leading the way, paused at the locker room but led me directly to the quiet room. I was fully dressed and had all my belongings with me. Everyone else was in robes. Why wasn't I given a locker to store my things and a robe to change into??? I was so upset and felt so out of place. When my husband met me in the quiet room he was as confused as I was as to why I was still fully dressed. We were led to the massage room and I asked AGAIN about changing into a robe and storing my things. One of the masseuses said I didn't need to. WTF? So I undressed and piled my clothes onto an ottoman. I could not relax. The music was too loud and inappropriate. Why are you playing music with someone singing loudly? When it was over, it took me a while to calm down. We paid for shit service?! We came back and spoke to Jessica at the desk. She was also confused and concerned about the whole lock and robe ordeal. She offered a discounted spa treatment the next day but we were leaving. I wouldn't have taken it anyway. Overall, the staff was AMAZING! Please recognize them! They worked really hard to make our stay enjoyable. Get to know the staff and tip them well. Thank you to Jose at Egos who made sure our hands always had a drink in them; Carlos at Varenna for the house special cocktails; Miguel who took care of us while we relaxed on the beachside cabana. He was so attentive, personable and funny. Alejandro at the poolside bar made us laugh, Israel at Azur for the honest feedback when we had questions about the dinner menu, and Cesar at Hidden Garden who helped us figure out what was what in the darkness of the dining area. One that note, why is it so dark at Hidden Garden during the dinner service? We had to use the flashlights on our phones to read the menu and see our food. Fernando at the Siete breakfast buffet was awesome! We watched him smoothly take care of so many tables. We never felt neglected despite all the tables and people he was tending to. Lulu (Lou Lou?) is AMAZING, FUNNY and ENTERTAINING! We were lost the 1st night we arrived. He stopped what he was doing to personally escorted us to Azur in the darkness, around all the pools. We ran into him several times during our stay. He always made sure we were ok and having a good time. His energy is unmatched! Thank you to Omar, from the Concierge desk. He welcomed us when we arrived and gave us so much information about the resort. It seemed like he works everywhere. We saw him at different places in the resort. Maryam from the Concierge Desk! She was an angel. She really listened to all of our concerns. She was so friendly and funny. Even when our stay was over and we were waiting for our ride, she offered drinks and food to take with us to the airport. She definitely put a smile back on my face.

Truly Felt Like Family -- An Unforgettable Stay at Hyatt Ziva Cancun…read more Where do I even begin? we traveled here for my birthday and from the very first moment we arrived at Hyatt Ziva Cancun, we were welcomed with such genuine warmth and kindness. The staff immediately made us feel at home, and that feeling continued throughout our entire stay. The resort itself is absolutely beautiful--spotless, incredibly clean, and very well maintained. The service was exceptional. A huge compliment to the management team for combining the high standards you expect from a Hyatt resort with the warmth, friendliness, and genuine hospitality of Mexico. That combination made our experience truly special. And the food! We tried every restaurant during our stay, and honestly, the food was fantastic everywhere. If I had to choose a favorite, it would be the French restaurant, but we enjoyed every place we tried. The rooms were beautiful, extremely clean, and had amazing views. I was especially impressed that our room was serviced twice a day. There were also plenty of activities throughout the resort, and we had so much fun participating in them. But what really made this trip unforgettable were the people. A very special thank you to Leila Guirin, Diana, Virgilio Castillo, Odalys, Angelica, Alejandro, Roman, Diego, Jazer, Natasha, and especially the amazing Edgar, who seems to wear many hats! Edgar was not only a fantastic entertainer but became someone we truly considered a friend. These are just some of the names I remember. Unfortunately, I lost the list I had written because there were so many other wonderful people I wanted to recognize. But I can sincerely say that every single person we encountered was friendly, respectful, helpful, and genuinely kind. Now I understand why Hyatt Ziva Cancun refers to its guests as "family." It isn't just something they say in their messages or emails--they actually make you feel that way. We weren't treated simply as hotel guests; we were treated like welcomed friends and loved ones. That genuine Mexican hospitality, friendship, and warmth is something I will remember long after the vacation itself. Thank you to the entire Hyatt Ziva Cancun family for giving us one of the best resort experiences we have ever had. You made our stay phenomenal and truly unforgettable. We arrived as guests, but we left feeling like family. I cannot recommend Hyatt Ziva Cancun enough, and I sincerely hope we have the opportunity to return!

Marie, Frank and America = the ultimate trio butlers to have during your stay…read moreWe ran into Marie more often and absolutely just loved her warmth and hospitality Everything here is everything you need. From beautiful sunrise to sunset, it's a must come. Mercado Buffet - (as pictured) the woman who was there everyday when I was there, was the bomb! Made tacos so promptly and they were so yummy. Definitely I looked forward to every morning! Habanero - Rafael M., we saw him on our last day. But never have I ever seen anyone so hard in such hot weather and be grateful to meet, greet, serve so many people and still put a smile on his face. If we went the beginning of our trip, I don't doubt we would have been there every single day because of him! The Spa - CESAR! Sofia and Sara are the people you need to cross paths. Cesar is the one who got us in. Never did he rush us, he wanted us to enjoy our time at the pool and he circled back with kindness. And that's the only reason why we committed to the spa! Sofia and Sara were our people at the Spa, and boy did they put in work! I felt so relaxed and decompressed at the end of our trip because of them!!! Tradewinds - Araceli, the one who made our last day special. I told her it was our last day, and she brought the whole staff to sing and had us wear a big sombrero! It was so heartwarming and it made my heart sink, and did not make me want to leave!! The French restaurant is also a must! Loved the potato leek soup and the lamb rack. The Italian restaurant had amazing cheese mushroom pizza! I've been to Hyatt Los Cabo's, and the one thing Cancun didn't have was to go boxes due to regulations. The dolphins are such a cute thing to wake up to and was such a nice thing to do for family and people! We stayed at the Turquoise building. Loved the bath outside the room! It was my birthday, and my boyfriend and the staff really made it beyond special. From roses to balloons, to cards, to the simplest reminder of all them knowing it was my birthday and wishing me the best. You will hear a lot of, welcome family or hi family. And by the end of the trip, you will really feel that they really did become your family. 100/100 recommend this place!!!

Unfortunately, for the past two years, our experiences have declined significantly. The hotel no longer maintains the level of service and standards we once loved. The atmosphere feels different, the staff are not as welcoming, and there is a noticeable lack of attentiveness and care. During this stay, we had a particularly unpleasant two-day experience at the beach regarding the setup of lounge chairs and umbrellas. Rather than going into every detail, I will simply say the situation was handled poorly and left us very disappointed. What was most upsetting was that no meaningful effort was made to resolve the issue or make up for the inconvenience. Even after speaking with Guest Relations, who mentioned contacting the General Manager, nothing improved the following day. No accommodation or gesture was offered, which was surprising given the hotel's luxury positioning. It is also noticeable that the property feels quite empty during weekdays, except on special occasions or long weekends. Even then, the warmth and hospitality we once associated with this hotel seem to be missing. That said, I want to sincerely recognize Valenzo, who served us daily. He was professional, kind, and incredibly attentive. We never had to ask for anything, he would notice small details, like refilling ice before we even realized it was melting. His service was outstanding and he truly tried to make our stay better. Thank you, Valenzo. You made a difference. It is genuinely sad to see a place that once meant so much to us lose its standard. We hope management takes guest feedback seriously and invests in retraining staff to restore the level of service this property was once known for.

Every single person that works at this property is out of this world! Kind, helpful and always going above and beyond to make things memorable! There's always a little bit of construction because they're renovating, so plan accordingly by calling with them to make sure the areas you want open, are open. The new speakeasy is super cute. We visited there one evening and have the best time and service! This isn't the same restaurant where you go to breakfast but at night is a Spanish tapas restaurant. Everything was fantastic but all the food on the property is really great! We especially loved to order lunch by the pool. All the cocktails are fantastic, even poolside! Rooms are standard JW with some of them recently updated with the others on their way to being updated. Yes, there is a sort of a musty smell in the air, but that's in most hotels. It's a very hard to keep those highly humid rooms from smelling a little musty. You just have to get over it and enjoy the time outside the room. Pools are super cute and the beach area is nice. There is an adult pool that is open during the day but wish it was open later! Lots of places in walking distance if you decide to venture out of the property but why would you need to! Easy drive from the airport and to the downtown or for departure to Isla Mujeres. We did not go to the island this time but last time we booked everything through the hotel and they made it super easy.

The pool area, cabanas, and buffet stations were immaculate . Despite the rain, we had a fabulous time. One star deduction for not being prepared for my food allergies which the catering/ banquet staff was aware of for more than three weeks. I also repeatedly emailed our concierge for assistance and received no response whatsoever. Our room smelled like mold, and the sheets were damp. Housekeeping replaced them, but the odor and overall condition never improved. Not what you expect at this level. Then it got worse. We had two rooms, one at this hotel and one at a neighboring hotel where a large group of our family was staying. That other hotel requires wristbands, which we had, so security here assumed we didn't belong, even though we had rooms at this property. At the pool, they approached us publicly and repeatedly questioned us, over and over, in front of everyone. No attempt to verify privately, no discretion, just standing over us and making a scene. It was humiliating. Then it happened again. While checking out, we crossed back onto this property to retrieve our luggage that they were holding. Security stopped us again and treated us like we were doing something wrong, only to confirm, once again, that we were legitimate guests. Two separate incidents. Same behavior. The level of aggression and lack of professionalism from security is completely out of control. This is not how paying guests should ever be treated. This wasn't just a misunderstanding, it was a failure in how guests are handled, and it happened more than once. We will never stay here again.

The staff was very friendly and tried to help with our request. The room was a junior suite with an ocean view. It was comfortable and our room attendant did a great job. The king bed was two beds pushed together, but with some magic by the wife we made it more like one and were very comfortable. You can get a single king bed in some of the rooms. We were there with friends and didn't want be separated so we stayed with that configuration. I would try and get a room on the west wing. It actually looks to the east and you don't get the extreme heat in the late afternoon that the east wing does. We ate at all of the restaurants and our favs were the Black and White Steak house and Krystal. The Italian restaurant off of the lobby was good for a quick slice of pizza at lunch time. The buffet is like it is on a cruise ship and was good for most of our breakfast seatings. After a few days gets a little old. The staff was super friendly and hard workers. There is a 24 hour refreshment spot, but the food is only so so. Just for a quick sandwich or fruit. They do have a beer tap and a few selections of liquor available there for self service as well. The pool and beach area had plenty of chairs and umbrellas. If you don't see any available just ask and they will make it happen if possible. My complaint about the pool would be they close at 7:00. One small pool stay open until 8:00. Way too early for an adult only. I suggest if you want to do excursions to go straight across the street to one of the stands. If you know what you want to do they are a much better deal, but be certain you know where you want to go. make sure and get transportation included in your excursion. Also in that area there is the Bamboo Spa. You can get a massage for less than half at the resort spa. They did a very good job and were very professional. Not a "happy endings" type of place. Tell them you will do the massage if they throw in the fish foot treatment. Sounds weird but it was pretty nice. This is all inclusive for food and drink. The drinks are pretty light and when you ask for something other than the house liquor I'm pretty sure it didn't happen all the time. The best is to ask for the drink with a shot on the side, or better yet go to the bar yourself and watch them make the drink. It was definitely better and i was assured to get the name brand.
