Didn't love my experience at Aloft. We booked our room before our trip and it said check in was at 3pm. We arrived early and went to the front desk to ask if we could check in early and they were rushing us to pull out our passports to take pictures of them, to only tell us they would call us up when we could check in. At 3pm, they still weren't ready for us to check in. They ended up calling us a bit later. The room was a little dirty when we got in with hair on the shower wall and the room very humid. The mini fridge in the room also wasn't plugged in, and when we did plug it in, it didn't get very cold so our fruit was spoiled. The gym was not great: 2 treadmills, one bike, cable machine with one single arm attachment, and dumbbells. Bad service and bad experience. I wouldn't stay here again. read more

Okay....we are booked in this hotel because our flight was cancelled and we are stuck in Cancun for an additional 2 (yes 2) days until we can fly home. We are familiar with the Marriott Aloft style and this place is pretty much what you would expect to find in Mexico. All of the photos previously posted for this location are spot on. I would even say the website depicts the rooms well. The positives are that the location is convenient/close to a vacation area and beach. The staff have been super pleasant and professional. The room is fairly soundproof, which is good for such a popular area at night. If you are super sensitive to sound, bring earplugs or a sound machine. There is free breakfast. Free wifi. Why three stars? Some of it has to do with cleanliness. It's not so much dirty, but things appear dated and then give that sort of appearance. The breakfast is what you would expect. There are many choices. Fresh fruit. Egg/ham scramble. Cereal station. Coffee/tea/pastries. Again, the photos for this property show the breakfast station well. There was a sour mop/rag smell when we sat down to eat. The place is clean but it's hard to understand no one can smell that the rag or water needs to be changed. We ate in the dining room another time and it smelled much better. Oh! Funny. Not sure how this is not understood, but the door covering the closet and bathroom is suppose to have the handle on the left (at least in our room) but it was hung with the handle on the right. So, when you are in the bathroom there is no handle and it was hung such that the space is not fully covered. Just what you want when you are doing your business in a bathroom. Shower water: lukewarm If you are on a budget and want to enjoy Cancun, this place would likely work well for you. We are seeing families and couples. Went to a conference in the adjacent center, which is easily accessible through the hotel lobby. This is a medium-priced hotel a block from the beach in Cancun. It is still very much at the center of the hotel block and has easy beach access. The rooms are basic, but good sized with a bathroom. The rooms are clean, and they have a lobby and rooftop bar with a good variety of refreshments. The breakfast has cold and hot items. The scrambled egg and sausage is good, and they have various drinks such as juice, coffee, ... and also yogurt. The TV has limited set of channels and most of them are in Spanish (as you would expect). The staff was very friendly. read more

Aloft Cancun Review - 8-Day Stay I spent 8 days at Aloft Cancun, and overall, it was a chill stay with a few standout moments and a couple of missed opportunities. Let's start with the good: Luis, my housekeeper, was AMAZING. Always had my room spotless--even with me taking 2-3 showers a day between day parties and late-night outings. The water temperature was consistent my entire stay, which honestly made a big difference. Hot and reliable every single time. The rooftop was a vibe... kind of. They have a happy hour up there, which was nice when I managed to catch it--good drinks, great view, and a solid atmosphere. BUT every time I went up to actually relax or get some pics, it was packed with kids in the pool, which threw off the vibe a bit. Would've loved if there were some adult-only hours to really enjoy the space. The location is A1--close to clubs, restaurants, pharmacies, convenience stores, and everything else you might need. And yes, you can Uber Eats, which came in clutch after long nights when I wasn't in the mood to move. Would I stay again? Possibly--with hopes that the rooftop gets a little more grown-folk-friendly. I had the most disappointing experience. This is nothing like the Aloft Playa del Carmen, please read below: Firstly, the hotel grounds, which include the rooftop, lobby and other common areas, do not look anything like the photos nor the ones on Expedia. I have never been so mislead in my life when getting a hotel. Let's begin with the lobby. Unlike the photos on here and on Expedia, there are no pool tables, there is nothing for entertainment. It is a complete barren space, with some seating. The bar is abysmal and you can only get paid drinks at the lobby bar. The free drinks are on the rooftop only. So, yes you have to take an elevator to the top for one drink, which leads to the other issue. This hotel has 3 elevators: 2 for guests and 1 service. 1 of the guest elevators was down for an entire week with no updates if it would ever be fixed. This lead to long queue lines and at times, it was faster to just take the stairs. This is coupled with the fact that if you want your "free included drinks" you have to go to the rooftop. I believe this elevator situation was purposely like this to make it an inconvenience to go up for your free drinks. Why wouldn't they just have free and paid drinks at the lobby bar? Next, that awful rooftop. In the photos you will see a vibrant rooftop with lots of seating, lots of brand new sun chairs and cool areas to hang out. There are none of these whatsoever. There are just plastic chairs that are all close to being thrown out. The rooftop bar shouldn't even be called a bar. The pool is not vibrant nor inviting, it is quite sad. The rooftop offers no refuge from the sun, as there are no umbrellas or beds as you are lead to believe. It is probably the worst hotel rooftop I have ever seen in my life. So, what is good about this hotel? The location is great. You are minutes away from all the busy clubs, bars and restaurants. The North beach is across the street and the main beach is a short 10 min walk. The service was good, everyone was friendly and professional. The rooms were clean and the cleaners did a great job in keeping the hotel tidy. If you get any of the room that end in -18/-20/-22 you will be looking at an ugly building the whole time. Try and get a room on the upper floors (8+). Do yourself a favour, pay a little more money and go elsewhere. This is a complete rip off and disappointment. What a travesty of a hotel, I will neve be coming back to this place and I will be sure to let all my friends and family know. read more

Welp, the reviews kinda let me down this time across different review sites. I was ready to relax while I was not out and about in Cancun, in a nice hotel that was comfortable and clean. I will say that because of go to Mexico so often I do adjust my budget to those trips so I end up getting hotels that are practical budget wise and depending on when I go depends on what hotels are in my budget and I just choose by many different things, but most likely the reviews. So, the biggest thing about this hotel is that it smells so weird. I can't explain the smell because it's odd, but it is very pervasive. Also, you don't get used to it. Really bizarre! Upon my arrival and while checking in, I was fighting the urge to get in a cab and take me to my favorite hotel in the Hotel Zone Cancun, but I stayed. I was close to another of restaurants, stores, and the beach. Another thing that was weird is the water was brown for a while when you first run it, so you have to run it for a while. Staff is appropriately nice. They are not super visible but pop up when you need them. They give you a paper bracelet when you come in for unlimited free drinks- alcohol and non alcohol which is available until 10 PM, I suppose. The beds are not the most comfortable. TV is huge and you can watch Netflix as most channels on regular TV are, of course, in Spanish. This hotel is close to the beach near CocoVangos where they have the best service, eye candy, and great food. read more

Not the typical Marriott experience when checking in. Had to go through some extra steps due to the fact that this was a international check in. Hotel staff was super friendly. We frequently come to Mexico but wanted to stay here for one night since our all inclusive wouldn't be ready until tomorrow night. Location is smack in the densest club hotspot in Zona Hotelera--Hard Rock and CocoBongo nearby. Lots of delicious options nearby, including Taco Rigo, Hiroya Ramen and Alebris Beach Club and Bar. Staff are super friendly and offered a Happy 13 hour bracelet for free house pours at the hotel bar! I absolutely recommend this property. It is located just off the main pedestrian way, which is an easy stroll to get there. The convenience of this location is unmatched. There is a supermarket on the lower level and a reasonably priced taco shop next to the market. The pool deck is superb. While lounging you will have views of the ocean. We loved Aloft Cancun! My husband & I stayed there for only one night, due to a flight situation. However next time we are in Cancun, we will definitely stay at Aloft and for many more days. The hotel is in the heart of the famous Hotel Zone. Everything is within walking distance: Señor Frogs, The City, La Vaquita, Mandala, and the iconic Coco Bongos. There are also nice shops, restaurants and a nice shopping plaza that sold $1 beverages! The Hotel Zone is very lively & fun & energetic. It felt totally safe as well. The hotel is very good. The elevators were on the slow side. The rooftop pool is great with great views of the city below. I wish the pool area had more chairs, tables & sun umbrellas. There is a bar area but no one was tending it. The hotel has free cocktails in the lobby for those who drink. The hotel staff is very nice. Gustavo at the front desk area was very helpful. The best thing about this hotel is its location. Not only in the heart of the Hotel Zone, but also right across the street from the public beach. The second best thing was the price: very affordable! I stayed here for seven nights because I could only find cheap tickets in and out of Cancun eight days apart. Aloft seemed to have the best price for eight nights among the hotels I try to stay at in the Hyatt, Marriott, or Hilton family of hotels. I did not do that much research as to location -- I just booked on price alone. I was amused upon arriving to realize that this hotel is right in the heart of the party area of the Cancun Hotel Zone, just a short walk away from the major night clubs. So if I were in college still, partying and thing walking back to this hotel would be great. I'm no longer in college though and like to soak in culture when I travel... this hotel is in the heart of the tourist area, not much culture to be had. You really have to take the bus or rent a car to drive into the city or beyond Cancun for that. But it's worth noting that the "bus stop" (if there is such a thing... people seem to be able to flag buses anywhere) is right near out front of the hotel. And there's a dock across the street that will take you to Isla Mujeres (definitely worth a day trip or more if you have time!) Because the 14 mile Hotel Zone is a two way street, it's easy to navigate because buses can only go in either direction, without turning off. So every bus going a certain direction will take you further up or down the Hotel Zone to shopping, restaurants, or beaches. Anyways, the hotel is old but clean. Staff speak English and are helpful, if misguided. With certain levels of Mariott Bonvoy status, you're supposed to get water bottles each day but I was told I could only have two complimentary water bottles my first night and would be charged for each additional one I got. (Luckily there is a supermarket next to the hotel so I went and bought my own. Don't drink the tap water in Mexico!) Internet is free and surprisingly fast. There's a bar in the lobby with free drinks for guests. There are only two elevators that fit maybe four people at a time so there can be a bit of a backlog getting to your room. Aloft as a brand projects itself as young and hip, a Marriott hotel for the millennial nomad class. This Aloft falls short of that standard. It's cheap relative to other hotels in the area but it's not anything to write home about. I was actually annoyed that staying here, you have to wear a wrist band for "security" reasons, which is bogus in my opinion. The only real reason you need it is to flash to the bartender to get free drinks. The band can't get you access to anything else as this is not a resort. Can you imagine wearing a stupid wrist band for 8 days?!?! Overall, the stay was decent if you need a place to sleep and shower and store your things. But you have to make your own entertaining by exploring on your own. There's nothing on-site worth staying in for. The price was okay. But if you have options and can afford to splurge, go to a resort or another non-resort hotel that is more modern. This place is pretty basic. If you want to feel like you're on vacation, I don't know if this is the spot to change your mindset and help you forget your life back home... read more

The only thing good about this particular Aloft is the fact that they had happy hour drinks from 11am to 11pm that was included in the price of my stay. Other than that, the fact that they didn't sell any food which was quite disappointing. You have to leave the hotel to purchase food at the various restaurants which was very inconvenient. My hotel room was disgusting. The bathroom was definitely molding at the shower seams and the light switch to my bed was broken. The mini refrigerator smelled like onions. The roof top pool area was dead and definitely doesn't look like the pictures on the website. I felt like I was cat fished with the hotel as many services were not available due to COVID-19. Nope. Marriott ought to be ashamed. This place is a two star hotel hands down. I'm assuming the only reason why Marriott purchased this was because it's connected to some kind of convention/conference center. This joker needs to be gutted and redone. The furniture is chipped, torn up, and probably from a salvation army collection from the '90s. Thee views are absolutely terrible, the shower needs to be blown up, and the rooms need to be repainted and redecorated. The alarm clock was from 1982, housekeeping didn't even bother to refill the shower gel/ shampoo/conditioner containers in the bathroom, the soap and towel hooks were rusting, and the shower grout was stained (pink- ekk) and absolutely disgusting - you have to bring shower shoes if you're staying in this place. I imagine this is for 18-year-olds that have escaped from their parents and their first vacation. They have a free happy hour in the afternoon at the hotel lobby bar. The only good thing about this place is that I did not see any bugs and I was not robbed or kidnapped during the night. Good luck. read more

When I went to Cancun with my friend for a quick break from working in healthcare, I found this place after a thorough search online for cheaper hotels without suffering from saving up money. I knew going to Cancun, I wanted to save money on lodging and trying restaurants and bars around the area instead of doing all-inclusive deals from the hotels and spending hundreds of $$$. My stay here was decent. The hotel room was clean and full of everything I needed during my stay. Noise level-wise was okay, given that most people go to Cancun to party and have a great time, so the noise did not bother me. A drag race show in the lobby was fun to watch during my stay before our dinner plans. The hotel is within walking distance of many restaurants, bars, and the beach! If you wanted to do the Xcaret Park adventure, it was across from the building to book the tours, and that's where you have to meet for the bus to pick you up for the tour/adventure. If you want to go to Cancun and save money on lodging but still be close to all the fun stuff, this is your hotel. I enjoyed my stay here! read more

Overall this hotel was great! Our room was very spacious and clean upon arrival. The showers are nice and clean. The staff was excellent great English and the bell boys are very welcoming. The bar has great options open most of the day, the breakfast is decent they have little options. The rooftop pool is very nice and was mostly private during our 4 day stay, the view is nice and there are 2 different beaches walking distance. They provide beach towels if you ask. We had to ask for a hair dryer, mini fridge and iron they were very quick to help and bring it to the room. The hotel is so close to the nightclubs which is awesome. They have a pool table and a nice small lobby. This hotel is definitely worth the cost. Recommended ! read more

I came down for some dental work. This is hands down the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The noise is constant and UNBEARABLE! Literaly non-stop noise from 4am-6pm. Moved rooms from an ocean view to an interior lower floor just to get some rest...didn't happen. The only plus was Marco who helped get me a new room. My stay was free w/my dental package and I left early and paid for a room elsewhere so that should tell you how bad it was! DON'T DO IT! read more

I would NEVER stay here again. Let's just say this first and put it all out there. I booked this hotel on Travelocity.. it was all lies. The pool was not was is pictured! Yellow hazard taped against all the balcony. The "pool was very small. Maybe about 4.5 feet. They do have a bartender. Decent music. And cabanas are free it's just first come first serve. So got to get there early. Plenty of space to lay out on as well but like hard to get towels... The room with a "Lagoon" view was a joke. I was barely able see. I think we stayed on the 7th floor. The ac was absolutely freezing in the room which I guess can be a plus since we went in the middle of summer. And it was uncomfortably hot and humid. Now something I didn't take lightly was how disgusting the showers are here, how horrible the " cleaning ladies did". And how scarce it was to call 4X to get towels and clean bottled water!! Like really. I saw these ladies just chillin doing nothing - and we received semi wet towel. They must have been directly from the dryer because they still were damp. Also- The toilet smell reeked of booty smells! Like it really smelled like someone continually dropped a poooo in there. Because it was raunchy smell- filled The whole room. All the Time. I gagged half the time. You also have to leave your room key in this slide, too keep lights on which was really wierd.. And the room was extremely dark!! And the floors were freezing and it was so frustrating when your thousand of miles away. As being apart of a Marriott linked hotel. I would have expected wayyyy more then this poor excuse to be called a hotel !!!! Absolutely the worst stay of my life. The location was decent/ I'll give it that. Because your about 5 min from a beach. And 10 min walking distance from the downtown party area. Plus more beaches around the area, the beaches are very clean, water is so warm and it's like bath water, tons of tourists and places to see. Yet it was nice and quiet. I just had to complain about those "amenities " mentioned above, I think those are equally important. Front desk guys were nice. Most knew English that was comforting. Other then that. First off, the staff here are amazing and very helpful and courteous. The reason for the rating is beyond the control of the employees. I paid a low price for a reason and you shouldn't walk in here expecting a really modern hotel or "bumping" hotel, it's a tad out dated. I would stay here again because of the hospitality and it's an easy + affordable way to add nights to your year via booking Marriott direct. It's centrally located and they have complimentary drinks from 11am-11pm. There are many restaurants nearby despite them not having a restaurant on site. First this hotel is not next to the beach. I upgraded to an ocean view but the view I got is of two other hotels that sit right by the ocean. The pool was closed for my entire stay due to maintenance which should have been noted upon booking. They didn't not do anything for the inconvenience of the pool being shut down. I am so thankful I read the reviews before we left for Cancun. We stayed for 5 days. Pros -The lobby area is nice and the pool table seems to be occupied every time. -Front desk service was always patient with us when we needed to rent beach towels or answer general questions -Valet was always prompt and very nice -Located near a supermarket, which was great for groceries instead of paying jacked up tourist prices -Bliss products in the bathroom -Located near the ferry to Isla Mujeres -Pretty decent Japanese ramen place located around the corner. The one that only has outdoor seating. -Close to clubs and bars -Free wifi Cons -You need an extra key to keep the room air conditioned when you're away. Don't forget to take it with you when housekeeping comes because they will take it away. -The rooftop pool is nice, but the strong winds kind of ruin the experience. Also, it is very bare. -Housekeeping is a bit of a miss. We left the card on the bed asking for fresh sheets since we noticed there was sand. When we came back, it was made but there was still sand. -The rain shower head is incredibly leaky and woke me up in the middle of the night several times during our stay -TV is a nice size, but you have to strain your ears to hear anything even with the volume turned all the way up. -We had an "ocean view" room, which meant if we craned our heads at 90 degrees and looked past the concrete landing, we could kind of see the ocean. There is no private beach access. However, they provide a card for discounted admission to the Mandala Beach Club across the street. The price might be a bit steep, but it's essentially credit to use at the beach club. For example, if admission is 400 pesos, now you have 400 pesos to spend on food, drinks, etc at the beach club. Overall, would I stay here again? Depends on what I want to do on my vacation. It was a good base camp because we were always out doing something. However, if I wanted to spend days lounging at the beach, I would be better off staying somewhere in the Hotel Zone. read more

We had to spend an extra night in Cancun and the Aloft Cancun was the cheapest accommodation we could find. I use accommodation instead of hotel because I think it accurately reflects the location. This hotel is cheap and it is clean. However, don't expect anything more than a place to rest your head for the night. The hotel is extremely outdated and in my opinion is not the best representation of the Marriott brand. I can see the appeal to Marriott side or is right next to the convention center. If you need a cheap place to stay, this will satisfy those requirements. However, for a little bit more you might be able to find something much better for your trip. read more

After leaving a super shady air bnb spot, coming to this hotel was amazing. That air bnb spot didn't even have toilet paper-c'mon now! I like the reliability and safety you can get in hotels you know... Anyways, our room had a nice ocean view, was spacious, had bliss products haha, etc. The rooftop pool is fun too, and you can have drinks at the bar while sitting on stools that are in the pool. We had the habanero, your final destination and mojito drinks, and they were quite cheap at 95 pesos! There's also free laundry, valet parking, free wifi, and free breakfast. The food consisted of scrambled eggs with peppers, beans, potatoes, nachos, salad, etc. The location is awesome too, being right by all the clubs, food and beach!! Can't beat that, I tell you! Good times. The only con would be that there's only 2 small elevators, and one of 'em wasn't working and it was a packed day! Ah, well-all the workers were really nice, though! read more

Check in was a breeze. The rooms are quiet cute and clean enough but i can tell it's not maintained very well as there are stains in carpet in hallway and the rooftop deck is a mess. The view from the rooftop is nice though wish they have better system and better maintenance. Free wifi though which is always a plus and cannot beat the location. There are great restaurants nearby, right around the corner is the club zone so you can stumble your way home and the best of all, there is a huge new supermarket right across the street. we love the alofts and have stayed in a few. This one is is simple and love the pool table in the lobby area with a lounge feel. Had a double queen with an ocean view. Room was immaculately clean. Beds were cozy, free wifi, hotel gave two free bottled waters daily. If I had any complaints it would be towel request. Sometimes they were slow about bringing towels and often confused hand towels for face towels. Also, the in house restaurant "The Nook" is not worth your time. Go a block or two away to Monkey Business or Mextreme (both American and Mexican) for very decent food. read more

I don't know what those people are complaining about, I thought it was a great hotel. Great service, great breakfasts and great rooms. This boutique hotel is in an amazing location! Ideally located close to pubs, bars, clubs, supermarkets, travel agencies, shopping malls and nightlife. The hotel is very close to eating establishments such as mextreme and taco factory. American chains such as hooters, are 2-3minutes far away by your feet. Coco Bongo, mandala as well. Rooms are like Aloft elsewhere - clean, crisp, modern and the WiFi is free. The breakfast buffet is good, but not included. Check before assuming that it is! read more

I stayed here during the week of Christmas since my boyfriend had enough SPG points to cover everything + breakfast. We were both completely fine with this not being a resort, since we had plans to go out on excursions every day. Great way to save money since the plane ticket was expensive enough! We were offered an ocean view room, which actually gave us a view of the trash in back of the Fiesta Americana hotel. Rooms -Very cute colorful modern furniture -Small room with no dresser. We had to use our suitcases & closet for storage. -The bathroom & closet share the same glass sliding door, so if you want to get something from the closet, you have to block the bathroom. -Towels were very rough and felt like they had already been washed hundreds of times. Bedsheets were rough as well. One night, I saw a tiny blood stain and I FREAKED OUT. EW. CMON SPG. The actual pillows underneath the pillow covers were kinda dirty too. -In order to keep the AC/electricity on, one of the room keys needs to be kept in the slot. We ended up leaving a key in there the whole week so that the room wouldn't get stuffy while we were gone. Service -Front desk was extremely helpful. They were friendly and helped us make calls to confirm our tour excursions, find directions to the bus, etc. -Service at the restaurant downstairs was great. Every morning we ate breakfast, the servers were super attentive and helpful. The food was also super delicious! -Housekeeping on the other hand needs to get their shit together. When we got back from our day trips around 5:00pm, our room still wasn't cleaned. This happened multiple times, even though we told front desk that we would like our room cleaned by 11:00am each day. Once we started leaving $1 tips each day, I feel like the service got better. Location -Great location if you want to go clubbing at Coco Bongo, Mandala, Palazzo, etc. -Restaurant options kinda suck because of the touristy hotel zone location. Most of the options around the area were way overpriced and weren't authentic at all. -Next to an awesome clean supermarket where you can buy snacks, water, use the atm, etc. -5 min walk to the beach -Over an hour drive to most of the tour excursions read more

DO NOT STAY HERE! This is by FAR the worse hotel I have ever seen. The bathroom is moldy, and looked like it was barely cleaned. Our toilet had genital hair on it, shower is DIRTY, towels were smelly. Our headboard was so scratched up and worn out, the fabric was peeling off. The lock was broken so that definitely didn't make us feel safe. The fridge doesn't close properly, so there goes the thought of having a cold water in your room. They don't even have BASIC necessities, like slippers. Was told that we can go to a store at (8pm) to buy something next door. The front desk is useless, as they are absolutely no help with anything at all. The only thing they helped us with is to call a taxi for us 4 hours after our check-in to move to a different hotel because I didn't even want to think about what was in that mattress. Oh, they don't even bother to compensate you with anything. We took a lost by booking here in the first place. Sooooo disappointed in Marriott for calling this property theirs. read more

The rooms were not clean (had to change rooms because the first room had crumbs all over the floor and a dirty bathroom). The second room had hairs in the sheet, what appeared to be a small blood spot, and some strange brown gunk on the floor and bed skirt. Definitely a place you want to keep your shoes on and shower with your flip flops. Poor water pressure. Needs a deep clean ASAP. read more

We got a great rate on rooms here, I'm not sure why anyone would stay anywhere else. Sure, it's not beach side, but the beach really is across the street, or if you want something a bit nicer, you can walk 5 min down to coco bongo where there's more beach access. The location is awesome if you're looking to party at the nearby clubs. The rooftop pool is kinda small, and the swim up bar is kinda cool. We went during thanksgiving so it was kinda chilly and windy on the roof. I enjoyed our stay here. The valet parking is supposed to be free if you stay here. read more
