I have met with a number of counselors over the years, and David is by far the best one I have had. David is sincere, understanding, and a great listener. He makes you feel comfortable engaging in deep conversations with him. He has a strong background working with people. I found him to be quite insightful; he spotted my issues quickly and dove deep into the underlying reasons. The advice he offered was both practical and doable. With some counselors, you have to meet for a couple of sessions before you get any useful guidance. With David, he offered valuable advice during my very first session. When my husband and I came to David, we were so desperate to fix our relationship. At that time, we were either arguing or giving each other silent treatment. Scheduling is easy. No difficulty finding parking. The office is set up nicely with a comfortable couch, very much what I envisioned a therapist office would look like. Couples like us instead of calmly talk to one another; there were a lot of pointing finger and blaming the other person. David meditated and reframe what we were trying to communicate to our partner without the condemnation, anger, and accusation. He taught us tools, gave us homework (exercises) to work on that are so applicable and transferable to our daily lives. He learned about us through the sessions and helped us to see the person we felt in love with. From time to time, we still utilize his service to fine tune these skills to communicate effectively and productively, to really listen and hear the other person, and to try to see from our partner's perspective. While David is great for couples counseling, he is also wonderful for individual counseling. Both my husband and I have benefited from individual counseling with him, specifically my husband as he felt comfortable talking through things with David. My husband was raised in a strict household and as a man, was not taught and encouraged to express his emotions and talk about his feelings. David is amazing. He was able to lead the conversation, so both my bf and I could learn more about ourselves, as well as each other. I liked that he was honest that he was not there to tell us whether we would "work out" or not, but his purpose was to listen, provide exercises he thought could help and most importantly, ask questions that dig deep into the root cause of the conflict. My bf and I have been together for 7.5 years and at this point, we were running into the same communication issues. We booked 1 session with David to see if his personality would fit with us and it did! David is quirky and that humor really helped my bf and I navigate some dark topics. We decided after that first session, that we would get the package and saw David 4 more times. Never once in any of the sessions did we feel judged and we always learned something new during each session. We definitely plan to see him in the future if we feel like our relationship needs some guidance. I was very picky when it came to finding a therapist. Some of my criteria included someone who was very experienced, could counsel with empathy, and could help me figure out the root of my concerns. David definitely exceeded all my expectations. From the beginning, he established psychological safety that helped me explore all of my areas of concerns. I wanted to give David the recognition that he deserves , when my boyfriend and myself first came into his counseling sessions I can admit we were so damaged we were constantly fighting in front of David' and I was always embarrassed , but he was able to bring us back on a positive note and defiantly mediate the hectic conversations. My husband and I did relationship coaching with David before and after we were engaged (he also spoke at our wedding) This was a few years ago. David was my husband's pastor--understandably, him knowing my husband was a significant and very helpful aspect of the relationship coaching. David shed light on aspects of my husband that I had difficulty understanding! I had no idea what to do when first starting out, but David has helped guide me through various issues in my life. Even with such a variety of problems, David was able to act as a great listener who brought up good questions for me to reflect on and gave me helpful tips and perspectives on dealing with these issues.
