We were shocked that Switzerland had a legit Korean BBQ spot in the middle of Interlaken. And it did not disappoint! We had been eating a lot of European food and needed something else. This spot popped up with a ton of positive reviews so we gave it a try. It gets quite busy to it helps if you call ahead for reservations. We ordered the thick cut pork belly, the spicy squid and the beef bulbolgi along with a Kim chi soup. Everything was delicious I enjoyed the beef the most. We finished off the meal with their mango bingsu. It was perfect blend of the "snow", mango sorbet, and fresh mango pieces. Overall the service was quick and attentive. Yeah...not a place I would go return. They had good reviews, nice patio and we enjoy Korean food. We were seated on the patio which was very nice. I ordered a beer and my bride doesn't drink and asked fot tap water. That's a no go. They won't bring you water, you have to pay for bottled water. After she walked away, my bride discovered it's mineral water - which she didn't want and immediately ran and tracked her down to cancel her water. The waitress said it's too late, she already rung it up. What? Wrong answer. We went to order Dolsot Bibimbap and noticed they didn't have the typical proteins as options (e.g. Bulgogi Beef, Spicy Pork or Chicken). Even those items are served on the menu, they said they could not be added to the Bibimbap. Hard to understand, but we said okay. We ended up getting the Dolsot Bibimbap (Veggie and Ground Beef) and frankly, they were underwhelming. Lacking in taste/flavor even with the Gochujang. We were craving some good Asian food on our long trip through Europe! We stopped here and were welcomed & seated right away. We ordered a few BBQ items and some dishes made from the kitchen. We have had some K BBQ but we are not experts yet on what to order or the cooking- so the owner came over and chatted with us and cut up some of our items while cooking to help with the process! Now I know why they give you the scissors! Food was good, experience fun and we were celebrating our son a birthday! I recently visited Aare Restaurant and had a great overall experience. The place itself is a bit run-down, but honestly, the warm and attentive service more than made up for it. Also, not sure why some people keep calling this Chinese food? It's definitely Korean! I ordered the gochujang beef, bulgogi, and some rice wine, and everything was flavorful and authentic. The dishes had that deep, comforting Korean taste you hope for. Prices are on the expensive side, but hey, it's Switzerland, so that's pretty much expected. We needed a break from the European food and found a highly rated Korean restaurant in Interlaken. It seemed really promising on TripAdvisor and Google with some reviews from Koreans stating that it tasted authentic. So we made reservations online for our large group and was really looking forward to something familiar after a long day of hiking. Let's start off with the service. Overall, it wasn't terrible but there were definitely some awkward or tense moments when it felt like they were giving us attitude. I mean, I could attribute this to our large group orders or maybe because of the language barrier. But at the end, the owner, a Korean man, came out and started talking to us and was pretty friendly. Also, because a storm was rolling in, they were very accommodating and moved our large group indoors. The meal was very expensive, unlike most restaurants in Switzerland, but we had something to compare to back home. Like the amount you pay here is more than what you would pay at an AYCE KBBQ restaurant in the US. One order of the pork belly BBQ comes with only two slabs and you have to order at least two. Same thing with the bulgolgi...you have to order two orders minimum. And you can't mix and match. It has to be two orders minimum of the same type of BBQ meat. There also isn't any free tap water here. The BBQ was decent...I don't know if I would've described it as authentic but maybe it's a style from a region in Korea that I'm not familiar with. It wasn't bad tasting...just different. The bulgolgi pieces were kind of small, very shredded. There weren't a lot of very sizeable pieces. They also got part of our order wrong when we asked for one order of spicy and another non-spicy. The Tteok-bokki and Kimchi Jjigae were pretty good though but also very expensive. We knew we would be missing Asian food after a few days in Switzerland, so we decided KBBQ would really hit the spot after spending a long day hiking and doing other outdoor activities. We saw this place had great ratings on other online review sites and decided to make a reservation for our large party. We were originally seated outside, but a storm was rolling in, so they were kind enough to move our huge group indoors on a short notice. Service was alright other than that. There was some confusion which I feel is expected trying to put in orders for such a large group. They didn't completely get our order right either, and some things that came out were different than you'd usually expect ordering that same dish at another Korean restaurant, but when we asked them about it just to confirm we received the right thing, we got some slight attitude. I don't usually expect amazing service at Asian restaurants anyways though so not a huge deal. The owner came out and talked to us towards the end of our meal and was very friendly. In terms of the food, it was decent but nothing that blew us away. Serving sizes felt tiny and overall the meal was very expensive for what it was, and we left not feeling very satisfied. We were surprised how the ratings online were so good, but maybe we just have higher standards living in California and being able to grab amazing KBBQ at every corner. First off, let me say that this is Korean cuisine, not Chinese. There are very few restaurants in Switzerland that serve good Korean food. We ordered the two dishes Dubu jeongsal x2 Ojingeo bokkum The food doesn't taste what we are accustomed to having. The food looks good, but the taste is not. I think with the lack of competition, most of these restaurants can exist without actually having authentic tastes and only nuances of their favorite foods on their vacation. We will have to hit up some authentic Korean when we get back to the States. read more

An unexpected authentic find in Interlaken. I would say that the mixed reviews are fairly accurate. Portion sizes are smaller than what you might be accustomed to if you come from the United States, and the Banchan or famous Korean sides, are definitely not as plentiful as in a Korean restaurant that you might find in New York or LA. But, with that said, there is an appealing charm to this place, and the owner does a great job with the ambience. Outdoor and indoor seating abound, and there are certainly many tables with the opportunity to do your own real live Korean BBQ. The yukkaejang (spicy beef soup) is satisfying and rich. The bibimbap was a little peculiar in that the mushrooms were raw, but the overall dish does the job. The bulgogi is pleasantly satisfying, and you can tell that they use paper-thin, shaved sirloin, which is great. It is an excellent reprieve from your Swiss diet, and a healthy alternative with vintage vibes. The owner is the star of the show, and he literally makes the rounds to every table, particularly if you are Korean. He alone makes the visit worthwhile. read more

After battling long with heath issues I have finally begun to travel again. After driving for 5 and a half hours from France to Switzerland we stumbled upon this incredible local authentic Korean restaurant. And omg they did not fail. We had the best Doenjang Jjigae, Sundubu Jjigae and Jabche and let me tell u this OMGGGG authentic to the tea.. I have had Korean meals in TX but not like this! The staff super nice and the owner is just adorable. The restaurant decor is super nice and I bet you in the summer time it'll be super great to enjoy the street view. So, my husband and I try to find Korean food whenever we travel to see what we find and the quality -it is tradition for us! And this place does NOT and will not disappoint. It has great and decent Korean food! Plus, since "Crash Landing on You" even more so brought both the beauty of Interlaken (Restaurant is located in Interlaken Ost and not West) and K-drama to the area, I was curious to see the sights and try the food. Got the pajeon (Korean pancake with leeks) for appetizer, tteokkbokki, and spicy chicken cooked with veggies) to share with my hubby and they were tasted!!! A pinch spicy (the tteokkbokki was spicer than the Spicy chicken according to my hubby) but of course that is subjective- I like it on the splicer side, so I loved it! The service is friendly, the staff are wonderful and awesome. Open and laid back atmosphere too! Cute and with the backdrop of a beautiful mountain and waters. The restaurant had amazing decor, lots of inside and outside seating options, and it was a very peaceful and welcoming place to be. I got the Bibimbap with fried egg, and let me tell you how amazing this was. The contrast of ingredients made every bite a little different, and the bowl was still fresh and sizzling hot when the waitress brought it to me. We also had Tteok-Bokki and beef Bulgogi, and it was all fantastic. The sauces were amazing, the kimchi they served was incredible, and don't even get me started on customer service. I recently injured my knee, and the owner offered to drive us home. I was also offered a pain relief cream that helped a ton. We had amazing conversations with the waitress, and my father and I just really enjoyed the experience. Definitely will come again if I get the chance. read more
