Of course, when we arrived we had been omitted from the reservation list. "This is the only table left" we were firmly told pointing to a small table in the middle of a lounge area, as we surveyed the half empty dining room. It was noticeable that the only two parties who spoke in English were seated in the same area outside the main dining room, furthest from the prized window over the St Lawrence. Interestingly, a Francophone gentleman arrived twenty minutes later, also without a reservation and was promptly seated by the window without any fuss. There were never less than three window tables available, the whole time we were there. Both the soup and the salad appetisers were unexceptional, except that the salad had some grit in it. The seafood risotto had clams, mussels, shrimp, bacon in it and was correctly al dente. The Confit du Canard was fine, with mushroom Papadelle. As my partner said "it is all right". The fruit sorbet and crème brûlée were standard, the first gave the impression that it was of commercial origin and the latter had hardly any crust. While the exterior is still as iconic as it once was, this resort is in a state of despair. Let's back up. Arriving to the Fairmont, valets did not offer to help with bags or even hold the door, just stood there chatting. Front desk staff were kind and helpful, but the lobby looks like a terminal of JFK rather than a hotel, the amount of people is absolutely crazy. Infinite amounts of screaming kids and zero luxury atmosphere. If a Carnival cruise was designed in a French revival style, this is what it would look like. The guest room is acceptable and while renovations are needed there also, the views of the river to partially make up for the massive shortcomings. Perhaps the highlight of the property is some of the included activities, such as ice fishing and a beautiful ice skating rink during the winter. That was truly fun. The dinner restaurant here is quite good as well, servicing Quebec classics like locally raised duck and local venison. The lounge area overlooking the river leaves a lot to be desired, the staff work very hard, but at any given point, there is hardly anybody working and just like the lobby itself, very crowded and without a dress code, resulting in a very sloppy atmosphere and kids running around. Lastly, the Nordic spa. This should be the highlight, but once again, it is not proportional to the number of guests. There is no space to even turn around in those pools, no adult pool option and just a sense of filth. Thus, as a whole, Le Manoir Richelieu is not a property I can recommend.

I requested a different room that reeked of curry. I opted to return to the first room and just open the windows. The major problem I encountered started at night and seemed to be the a/c system from other rooms as I turned off mine. The a/c system is ancient and the noise it made bothered me so much that it made falling asleep difficult and staying asleep also difficult. It drone on in a strange way with the sound traveling through the walls into the bed. The a/c unit in my room was really loud and made strange sounds periodically. I turned it off. The fridge was also make a strange high pitch noise. It was plugged into an extension outlet with other things. I unplugged a few things and that weird sound went away. The breakfast was better than average for a Comfort Inn...It would be worse in the USA. I got a couple of mini crossaints, jam, and butter, banana, and yogurt (better quality that US equivalent). The coffee was really weak...watery but drinkable...The coffee cups were tiny! Because of the noise and smell problems I will not be returning to this property.

This is a review for the hotel not restaurant…read more Pooh and I stayed here while visiting Tadoussac. The hotel - motel Le Béluga delivers a very basic room. First we stayed in the motel so I cannot comment on the hotel though from the outside the hotel looked nicer. The motel is above the restaurant and our room was plain. Cons: The TV was small the channels were the same is if you had rabbit ears - no specialty channels like Bravo or Showcase. We didn't even have CBS, NBC or ABC just CTV and CBC. The soap dispensers in the bathroom were practically empty. We had to push the button maybe 10 times to get 1 tsp of gel. The "patio" door didn't lock - no latch. Just simple things that could have been remedied but weren't. Other cons: The reception was in the hotel so if you needed extra toilet paper or coffee capsules you had to go outside. The motel is next to the highway so if you sleep with the patio door open you'll hear transport trucks all night. The shower is made for people people 5'5" and smaller. I'm 6'2". Pros: The bed was comfortable, there was a mini fridge, a coffee maker and hardwood floors. We will definitely return to Tadoussac but stay at a different location.

My friend said the clam chowder was good but not the same as Boston broth more on the thin side. Fair enough, thats expected since Boston is known for their chowder. The steak is the downer. Its tiny 8oz for $29 and its not a good cut. I'm pretty sure its top sirloin. A bit pricey for a cheap, tiny cut. Service: Its pretty good. It's seat yourself so we went in to let them know we're sitting outside. We had rambunctious kids with us and we didn't want to disturb the other patrons inside. They said no a problem. The service was quick. Got our cold beers rigt away. They brought some sliced baguettes. Given its a tiny basket for 7 people but they gave us more when we asked. The food came not long after. Our steak was forgotten though buy she knew it as soon as the food came out. Right away she went in and had it done. She apologized and was really funny about it. Our room was large and had wood floors instead of carpet which we liked. The TV was internet ready and apps included Netflix and Amazon Prime which was a bonus because the cable channels were basic. The room had also a small fridge, a microwave, a safe and coffee maker We had a king bed and a pullout sofa bed. The view was the parking lot and a car dealership but none of the views were amazing. The only negative comment about the room was the bathroom. When we arrived we saw long, black hair all over the floor. Pooh took a picture of it and showed it to the person at the reception. The man said he would send someone up to check it out but when the maintenance person arrived he only looked at the floor in the living area; he didn't even go in the bathroom. I ended up cleaning the bathroom floor. For that reason only I give this hotel 3 stars.

Upon check-in I was told none of the restaurants were open that night. (this may be a Mondays problem?) I was given a list of local restaurants that deliver food to the hotel. I called St. Huberts, it tool over 2-hours to get food delivery. For a relativerly expensive travelers hotel ($177 a night) they can do so munch better.
