Rude cashiers never at their registers and act like customers inconvenience them when they have to cash them out

We got a custom cake from BJ's bakery. It was a Hot Wheels cake for my son's 6th birthday. First, I…read morehave to say the customer service at the bakery counter was out of this world. The level of detail and patience from the staff was amazing. We created a vision together and I was sure it was going to be executed well. Next, we picked up the cake. It wasn't at all what we were expecting. It was a regular, uninspiring cake with not so great execution. We weren't thrilled with the final design, but we didn't have a choice. We were stuck with it. Then it came time to sing and cut the cake. This is when BJs did their thing. The cake was so moist and delicious. We got so many compliments on how great the cake tasted. People loved the half chocolate, half vanilla option and the icing was perfectly balanced for sweetness. I would 100% order a birthday cake from them again, but I would just go with a traditional cake without the custom design expectation. I would argue, it was better AND MUCH CHEAPER than Publix.

Super disappointed--I honestly don't even know how to start this review…read more This location is one I visit regularly, probably twice a month, which makes this experience even more frustrating. Today, we had two separate purchases totaling $104.64 and $93.70. There was a promotion offering $0.25 off per gallon of gas with purchases over $100. After fueling up, I noticed I didn't receive the discount, so I went to customer service for assistance. At first, the representative was helpful, but then she explained that the $100 minimum had to be reached before tax. She suggested I purchase an additional $2 worth of merchandise to qualify. My response was simple: had I known that, I would have combined the purchases from the start. There was no fine print visible stating the requirement was based on the pre-tax total. What made the situation disappointing wasn't the $2.23 discount itself--it was the unwillingness to find a simple solution. We're talking about a promotional credit worth just a couple of dollars after spending nearly $200 in the store. Sometimes customer service is about doing what it takes to make a loyal customer feel valued. Unfortunately, the interaction only got worse. The manager didn't seem interested in helping, and the overall attitude felt more like I was causing a problem than asking for assistance. At one point, I even asked the representative why this seemed to bother her so much. She replied that she wasn't being rude, and while she may not have been verbally rude, her expressions and attitude certainly made it feel that way. A quick reminder to anyone working in customer service: treating customers with respect, patience, and kindness--even when a situation requires a little extra effort--speaks volumes about your professionalism and character. For a moment, I felt like I shouldn't have even asked for my $2.23, and that's not how a loyal customer should feel. This wasn't about the money. It was about customer satisfaction, and unfortunately, that was completely missing today. What makes this even more disappointing is that if this had happened at a restaurant, I simply would have never returned. In fact, I've stopped going back to places before even when the food was good because customer service matters that much to me. Unfortunately, in this case, I don't really have another option and will likely continue bringing my business here. That said, it doesn't change the fact that today's experience left me feeling unappreciated as a loyal customer. Businesses should never take repeat customers for granted, especially over something that could have been resolved so easily.
